What a frustrating generation of cards, so disappointed with the abysmal prices and abysmal performance uplifts.
But the 4070 is 1.9x faster than a 1080 ti, a 7 year old card. It's amazing value /s
@@Ryan-tn4gk 1.9x after 7 years? after 7 years, the performance gain should be 3.5x

Don't tell me, I got a 7900xtx red devil, after 60 days it was restarting my computer every time I opened a game... previously was working great... I tried 5 different drivers, even 4 different bios... nothing fix it... luckily I had a protection plan on it. But I ended moving to nvidia. Something really shady is goon with amd this generation, they couldn't fix the power consumption on iddle neither... without many options on that performance level I had to pay more for a 4080 and get a little bit less performance.... what a bad generation
it beats the 3070 handily.Has more vram and its more efficient for a $100 more than a 3070.Makes sense to me
20-30% faster for 20% more money... after 3 years
seems legit
2/3 years of rampant inflation, card should $50 less at a minimum but it is what it is
Exactly what I’m thinking right now
Check the power consumption of the two cards in the video. If you keep the cards for at least two generations, the savings on your energy bill will easily be over 100 dollars.
but for the future, it's not, a rtx3070 8gb while rtx4070 better(of course) but only 12gb ?? They should do it to 16gb but that's how Nvidia work, they make high-end gpu like **70 look more powerful enough but for RT 12gb definitely not enough
@@igm1571Ray tracing is a gimmick don’t see much of a benefit in story games like cyberpunk etc, honestly all it does is distract me and decrease performance by 40% 12gb is enough for story games without enabling raytracing and anyways nobody really paying attention for reflection in puddles and mirror
NVIDIA's strategy is clearly planned obsolescence. Give them just enough VRAM to work with the current games, knowing that in a year or two they'll need to upgrade to run the games coming out at that time. There's always a reason for their choices, and it's always a good reason, from their point of view.
At least people are finally beginning to wake up.
Thats FACTS
This as much on game devs as it is on Nvidia. A game crashing when out of VRAM is a bug. The 10GB 3080 wasn't even available in quantity until 12 months ago, and then at way over MSRP. Otherwise, what? All cards should have 16-24GB? VRAM isn't free.
@@johnl.7582 AMD has had 16G of vram for years now it has nothing to do with developers, its clearly planned obsolescence on Nvidias part.
@@johnl.7582 vram is cheap as hell. if a 3060 back in 2020 managed to have 12gb for a MSRP of $329, then a 2023 $600 gpu should have minimum of 16gb.
Well, as a 3070 owner, I'll be waiting for the 50XX series or maybe even further.
I mean why wouldn't you, your card is still fine aslong as you dont run everything on Ultra. And Im telling, with worldwide inflation still going up, RTX 5000 will not be much better in $/Performance in 2 years
Egg sakly
When the Nvidia cards were extremely hard to find, I sadly bought the 3070 at 2x the price. Those damn scalpers... So, I'll be waiting until the card dies or maybe upgrade when the 60 series comes out.

Yeah you’ll be good for 3 more years, hopefully by then the new cards will be worth your money
Thats why we love you channel Owen. A breath of fresh air compared to other tech channels.
Finally someone who reviews the 4070 on the new games that everyone is having problems!
I can't believe none of the other channels picked these!
Would be really interested in an ultrawide benchmark video to see how this handles 3440x1440. I feel like with the 12GB vram, it would be just enough to run in ultra in that sweet 60-100 fps range for all the graphically intensive games (DLSS Quality + FG being the icing on the cake for RT). Instead of buying a 4090, save the $1000 for the AW3423DW to get QD-OLED response time and beautiful color/contrast for an incredible gaming setup.
Skipping the intro. and straight into it. I like you. Keep up the good work.
always love the quality analysis, huge thank you for this ❤
Excellent, Daniel! H2H comparisons are very informative and unique the way you approach the testing!
@Daniel Owen, looking forward to a 3080 12GB comparison to the 4070. The other tech channels are only comparing the 10GB model and they also omit the 3080 Ti. You seem to be the only person that actually includes a 12GB 3080 in your benchmarks. Thank you.
Awesome video! I see you are gearing up to compare the 6950 XT w/ the 4070. The biggest difference for me is that the 6950 XT is way more power hungry. If I choose the 4070 I would not have to upgrade my power supply which factors into the costs. I bet there are many in a similar situation.
I would love to get a used 3080 or 6950xt but like you said they are power-hungry. Which would I would need a new PSU defeating the savings
wait a while and get the 4070 when the price drops a bit more its easily the best card in the 40 series lineup @@BR3X
If only this card had 16 GB of VRAM. I often use raytracing/DLSS when it’s available, but I’ve been so burned by 8 GB of VRAM that I don’t really wanna bet on 12 gigs lasting me 4 years
Im sure it will how many years has 8 gigs been enough when everyone said nope wont last a decade or more just this year 8gig is truly overtaken and most the games there are horrible optimized anyway
*if it had 16gb? Nvidia is laughing at you right now. "stupid consumer, just shut up and buy our overpriced stuff."
Id say prob will 8 last decade

Hey daniel, quick question
as we all know the new VRAM standard is now 12gb, but I wonder how many time it will be capable.
I own a 3080Ti FE which I consider to sale in order to get a better model / 6900XT used instead - in my region this is what I would get with the sale money.
trying to decide what will be more compelling - the little extra performance + features of the 3080Ti or the 4gb extra VRAM from the 6900/6950XT.
would love you and other fellas opinions :)
Hey Dan, for us Turing people can you do the 2070 vs 4070 comparison? I think that's the upgrade that makes the most sense.

Hey Owen. Recently rtx-3060 topped steam chart. Do you think it's because of 12gb VRAM??. Would like comparison between rtx-3060ti vs rtx-3070
where are 1080 and 1080ti? Did they all broke?
Nice that you got a review sample
The 1070 leap from the 970 was a good one. This upgrade is definitely not special.
But great if it's been years for upgrade obviously:)
Hello. LDSS 3.0? Generation frames? 8 gb vram vs 12 gb vram?
I am still on my 970 ..waiting to upgrade since the 2000 series ...now I am sure I want to upgrade since i bought a new monitor went from 720p monitor now to 1440p UW. So I want that 4070, it is not reason for me to go for the 3000 series. I am especially looking for the wattage usage
Yeah, the 1060, 1070 and 1080 were exceptional.
I had the 1070 since launch back in 2016, I just upgraded a few months ago to the 3070 and holyyyy I feel the change
The 1070 is still goated tho
Yeah it was a great card for sure, no complaints on the 1070 from me. I'm guessing the 3070 probably has double the power though. It's always awesome getting a GPU upgrade:)@@flam8094

You should do 3070 vs 6700xt vs 4070, it will show what more vram can do in that new games :D
16GB should be minimum at $400.00 and up.
what? 4070 released? just 20% increase? I would buy a 6800xt instead.

3070 owner. Have debated upgrading but each day that passes i get a little further from that choice. I game 1080p only right now with plans for a 1440 monitor. I play graphics on high.
I'm going to say upgrading at this point would not be worth it for me? or would it be viable to go up to the 3080 10gb?I have it paired with a I5 12600k.
If you don't have problems, why upgrade? Or you can sell your 3070 and get a 4070. Your choice
Pretty good release, slightly overpriced but that is life in 2023. 2 slot card using under 200w is a huge selling point. Matched with one of the x3d CPUs we are looking at 300w or less under load - that would be a nice setup

I love the irony that people using Nvidia cards and Intel cpus roasting those two companies and praising AMD.
The 3070 is an odd card, I upgraded to it last year from an R9 390 and the one thing I noticed was it completely hard freezes and crashes when its reached its limit whereas the 390 would keep on going even if its at 1fps, both has 8gb vram so i don't know whats going there, like eg. if I load a large scene in blender that takes up full 8gbs of vram the 390 would just run it poorly but the 3070 would just freeze or crash. It sucks and I hate that about it.
That could be a lot of different things, never heard of this problem specific to a 3070 before

First off love your channel , my go to place for GPU reviews etc , however... My issues with these reviews (and arguments with my neighbour 🙂 ) is that there is an assumption that people are looking to upgrade by generation or in somecases within the same generation ! , however I suspect (but may be wrong) that most people, like me look to upgrade at least over 2 generations , so for me I went from a RTX 2070 Super and am very happy with the performance improvement I got with the 4070
Very like your channel, so complete tests
Drawn to your channel when searching for head to head comparison of gpu's.
NVidia buyers: "I buy NVidia cards because of the RT performance and stability!"
also NVidia buyers: "Oh no ... my games are crashing and RT performance is tanking because of VRAM overspill!"
AMD buyers: "Fine wine ... guys ... fine wine!"
NVidia buyers: "But but but ... we have frame generation!"
AMD buyers: "Who cares?! All artifacts and latency! For everyone who indeed cares, FSR3 will have a wider support than DLSS3 ... as it now is for FSR2 vs DLSS2!"
frame generation also increases vram consumption btw

There's a lot of good detailed content here Mr. Owen, I just wanted to thank you for the excellent research and time spent putting this together. So, At this new release of the RTX 4070, You get around 20 FPS for 20% more money? (Give or take depending on the game engine) 12 gigs of Vram and extra Vcache should help it in future games "If?", There aren't any memory bandwidth limited scenarios or it exceeds the Physical constraints of the video memory. I guess it's the Winner for cheapest "Modern" GPU from Nvidia with 12 gigs of Vram besides a future priced reduced RTX 3080/ti? I just can't believe or fathom how little a bump in performance or progress since around 2018/19? And the supposed value for a possible 20 percent uplift from a RTX 3070? (aka 2080ti -3 gigs of ram) I guess I'm being hard on this GPU and little biased since my last purchase was the Nvidia 1600 series GPU before the mining crises. I can see this GPU having great performance metrics if you are coming from a potato? Peace!
The fucked thing is, the entire reason I got a 3090 vs 3080 is the 3080 only had 10GB VRAM when it launched.
Nvidia 100% did that on purpose.
They luring you to buy more expensive card to make up for that vram issue. I was about to buy RTX 3070 8GB when I saw that 12GB on RTX 3080. That 12GB just shine bright for some reason.

I will hold on til the 4080 drops a bit in price :)
there’s a 3070 founders edition for 275 and i was thinking of buying it you think it’s worth it? can i make profit by reselling?
if someone is on 10-20 series card then it's a good improvement for now. i own 3070 myself and the 8gb vram is such a downer, but i'm not loaded with cash so not gonna upgrade.
although future 70 tier card definitely needs 16gb ram since RT takes huge chunk of Vram and textures are only going to get more resource heavy in future
Will they release another variation of RTX 3070? Or will they just release the new RTX 50 series ignoring the RTX 30 series?
I am using 260$ used for mining 3070 that I bought last September, it was full load at 90 degree but after I changed thermal paste and it is now 75 max should I pay double for 25% increase in FPS? of course not. I would rather upgrade my CPU to AMD 3D
Try the re4 remake without RT , digital foundry did a video and if you select the high textures with 8gb , it will show that it's over the limit but won't crash , however if you enable RT it will crash even if you lower it down to 2gb
You received the 4070 earlier?
Yes, Nvidia sent me a Founders Edition for review
@@danielowentech good to see!
what if we want to compare with 3080 12GB?
How long will 12Gb be obsolete ? in 2 years?
Seems like a great midrange gpu, apart the price. Once again, 600 usd transform into 750-800usd in Europe (Ukraine for me) after taxes + retail cut + logistics.
So is it a good buy at 700-750usd? Meh..., used 3070 are currently 450usd in my country, but they were 400 in October 2022, when I've bought my used 3080 not after miner with 1 year warranty for 550usd. I've checked also used 3080, here they are 600-650usd. So..., seems like used market dried up a little (but I predict it will maybe will be alive again at summer), because used 3070-3080 are gone 50-100$ usd up. This can justify buying new 4070 for 700usd, but will it be future proof with 12gb vram? Seems like most likely, but not for a far foreseable future.
And 700usd for 1080p gpu, meh...
Thanks Daniel, great review, be careful at 2:30 you've hurt a kid, please be careful next time!

First of all, I have problems with 2.51 or smth driver on my first 6700xt reference model + coil whine was real, poker client GG poker wasn't working. I've sold 6700xt, bought 5600g and after 7 month bought Red Devil 6700xt (and gosh it was beautifull but again coil whine, both 6700 xt's were after miners farms not casual people) and GG Poker client still black screen even on new drivers. Fortnite with 6700xt was bad also on 1% lows, due to a nature of engine and since Fortnite favours Nvidia a little. So in my case, 6800xt doesn't work for me sadly. Nor VRAM wise nor stability wise.
Now I've bought 7600x, 32gb CL 36 G.Skill Trident Z (non EXPO) and MSI Mortar B650m WiFi. Have 30 seconds pc on time, due to memory training, can't fix it, every bios on MSI site gave me blue screen apart from A0 and A10 versions. MSI motherboard has plastic clips on M2 slot, they are very tight and one is broke now, so I've only 1 M2 for now.
So in general I'd say - NO for AMD, both CPU and GPU wise, Intel + Nvidia is much better combo, yeah price, yeah power hungry w/e. The simplicity and working stability in my case is more important.

If this price and 20% generation uplift trend continues, I'd stick to my used 3080 till 6070-6080 and totally skip 5000x series, or will buy used 5070-5080 when 6090 releases.

I'm currently running on a 1660 ti (equivalent to a 1070). Should I upgrade to a 3070 or 4070?
4070
Hello. Would this be able to run Apex legends at 1080p max settings at 240fps?
Why would you want to play a title like apex at max settings?
Hope we get to see a video comparing the 4070 to the similarly priced 6950 XT, most of the other videos I've seen comparing them show the 6950 XT handily beating in in rasterization, but still more-or-less matching it even with raytracing on.
Yea matching it in games like fc6, resident evil with so called rt
what? 4070 is 670 euros in my country and 6950 XT is 1000+ euros.
@@weirdafters4007 they r similarly priced only in the us. Doesnt matter anyway. 4070 still shi*s on 6950xt
lmao way to compare apples to oranges hahaha. oh yea, the 4070 still beats the 6950xt in raytraycing with half the vram hahaha
I know people are complaining about this card, but considering that a 3070 over here in Ireland will set you back 600-650 euros, paying 680 for something as good as a 3080 at 1440p is a good enough snatch tbh. A 3080 over here will set you back 900-1200, while a 3070 ti will set you back 700-800. Yes, GPU prices are outrageous, and you really shouldn’t be paying over 600 for even a 4080, but what can any of us do about it?
Why I cant monitor the wattage and allocation, no AVG or low 1% displayed tho with my Afterburner... I dont see so much details like you... BTW good job with this video :)
I'm not sure about the frame generation, it's mostly useful for singleplayer games or games where latency doesn't matter but you also need a high enough framerate for it to work smoothly and with minimum artifacts/visual imperfections.
I personally prefer native resolution when my GPU is powerful enough, without DLSS or FSR.
Tbf to temporal upscaling, it can do some things better than native in some games. But to your point, that can be attributed to just the AA solutions within them.
considering dlss doesnt reduce vram usage it is a moot point. whats the point of having a feature if you can't use it due to less vram. This thing will become obsolete in 2 years.
It will not become obsolete bro. 8gb aint the same as 12gb. Secondly dlss upscaling does lower vram usage. Also fg is very useful in single player games. Ur base fps doesn’t need to b that high
@@anuzahyder7185 bruh watch some reviews, dlss doesn't decrease vram usage instead sometimes dlss3 increases vram usage. So again 12gb vram will affect 4070 in future making it obsolete for 1440p rt and 4k gaming.
@@Lucky-rl6gg it does lower vram usage. Dlss upscaling lowers usage coz the internal res is lower. If u want demonstration go to 21min of the vdo n check cyberpunk with n without upscaling.
The brightest point of this card is that 200W Power consumption
very efficient I'd say
Do you know why my game drops fps so much in fortnite low settings i have a 3070 palit gaming
If you're playing 1440p just lower a bit the settings if the game is vram hungry and you'll get slightly better performance , no need to upgrade .
Also waiting for your Dead Island 2 system requirements video :D
It basically just comes down to if DLSS 3 Frame Generation is worth it or not. If not then a used 3080 12gb or a last gen GPU with a similar price but more powerful makes more sense. I love single player games and frame generation would be cool to max the game out and have it look smoother but I'm not sure if 1 feature is worth it
considering dlss doesnt reduce vram usage it is a moot point. whats the point of having a feature if you can't use it due to less vram. This thing will become obsolete in 2 years especially for rt games.
DLSS 3 doesn't solve VRAM issue, and can be used on RTX 20 and 30 series if Nvidia wants them to ( they'll probably do it after seeing FSR 3). Along with that RTX 40 series get less memory bandwidth so they'll get worse over time.
@@Lucky-rl6gg n 6000 series is already obsolete if u r someone who plays proper rt games. So considering a 6000 series amd due to extra vram is also a moot point
@@anuzahyder7185 lol looks like I triggered a fanboy.
@@Lucky-rl6gg hahaah triggered a fanboy. Little bro i use 4090 i dont need to worry about cheap gpus but when i see misinformation i gotta call it out. That vram argument doesnt make sense. 20fps on an 8gb vs 30fps on a 16gb means 50% more performance but both are unplayable. Turn on upscaling n both get the same fps.
While playing rdr2 my rtx 3070 is at around 77° is at safe or what should i do i change thermal paste deep cleaning everything
HI, go and read about undervolting, check your case airflow, try open case and check temp.
this vram situation is so messed up, if nvidia released the 4000 series with twice the vram. i wonder what the cost whould be. but at least you can buy every gpu and have enough vram.
Is it not 16 GB or more so that the 4080/5070 will be more appealing(?). Sad to see when most newer titles are showing a bigger need for VRAM
Yes but Nvidia ain't gonna give you that. AMD will so if you want 16gb wait for 7800
You can get a 6950 xt right now for $600-$650 and it has 16 GB vram. Buy one of those instead of this overpriced garbage.
I am actually suprised that the uptick of the 40s Series is so little compared to the 30s, the clockspeed advantage of the 4070 is already like 40% and then count in the improved RT/Tensor cores, more cache, and new features like SER. The result in uptick from the 3070 is not really impressive.
SER hasn't been used in any game. Needs API level support on a title per title basis. Doesn't apply to older games.
I think Cyberpunk is the first to use it with new update.
4070 has a smaller physical die than the 3070 so even though naming is similar it should have been sold as a lesser performance tier
Creating the problem, then selling the solution. Not a very long-lived solution either though
So basically judging by The Last Of Us results, 12gb represents more planned obsolescence from Nvidia. The 3070 was a disgraceful product for the price, totally hamstrung by low VRAM. I have a 3060 Ti and I'm regretting that purchase a year later. On a positive note, keep up the good work with your channel!
I'm considering buying the 3060 Ti what would you choose between 3060 ti and 3060? i'm low budegt
@@jeffrington4036 3060 Ti is a very capable card for 1440p gaming and creativity, but 8gb VRAM will soon be the bare minimum for that resolution. It's a tough one, maybe the 3060 12gb for the extra memory but if that wasn't becoming an issue the 3060 Ti would outperform it every time.
@@whiteroserepublic1699 you mean it wont be enough even for 1440 p gaming in the future ? Thanks for the feedback btw
@@jeffrington4036 It depends heavily on which games you want to play. The 3060 Ti up to this point has handled virtually every game at 1440p with good fps. Although Hogwarts Legacy, Last Of Us and RE4 are questionable ports, they've created a bit of a stir in the pc gaming community due to the amount of VRAM they're gobbling up. RDR2, God Of War and Horizon Zero Dawn are however just a few examples of games I've played at 1440p on high settings that ran extremely well with the 3060 Ti. They're three of the very best looking games too.
@@whiteroserepublic1699 thanks for the feedback brother! Lastly how was the experience playing games with 1080 p ?was it smooth ?
I bought a 4070 TUF OC for £610. It's quieter, has a lower power draw and gives considerably more frames that my 3070 (20-30% improvement). Plus I sold my old card for a bit less than £300 so I couldn't be happier. At 1440p and 144Hz VRAM has never been an issue so who cares?
I would love to see the numbers on the screen when you see it, like falling down!
what a great card that will last a few more years in 720p.
I always play with ray tracing on with 1440p 144hrz 60fps with my RTX 3060 ti I definitely wouldn’t upgrade for at least 5 years looking forward to the RTX 6070 16GB.
performance/watt is pretty impressive, the price if it was respected in EU would be ok. But they never respect the prices, it's always more expensive in EU than MSRP. Looking forward to AMD counterparts. The 4070 perform the same as Radeon 6800XT for now, consumming a bit less power.
How to force gamers to upgrade? Under optimization and crashes on vram limit.
Lots of info in the 4070 reviews, but realistically those who want upgrade on a budget, and are considering the 4070 are not going to be able to use something like the 6950, even though it might be better performance/value, because of the additional PSU requirements/cost. So I think more informationon this extra hidden feature should be included in your stats. Still enjoying your channel though.😊
It’s also not as big as a freight truck.
That PSU shoutout is actually quite relevant, reviews have the 6950XT pulling double the power of 4070, 6800XT uses considerably more, and even the 3070 is made to look like a power hog next to this card. Was just watching a review of a 4070 with a single 8 pin connector, great stuff.
I show power draw and mentioned the 6950xt will draw a lot more power. In my full ,6950xt comparison this will be a major point of the video.
How did you stay so calm with the Police beating down your door.😂 Great viideo. Thanks.
The minimum Vram for a 600 dollar card should be 24 GB . This is totally ridiculous. Might as well play with the IGPU and lower the settings
I remember the days when an nvidia xx70 class gpu was compared to the previous gen flagship model, 😢.
I'm not impressed with the amount of Vram for the price. I am impressed with the power efficiency (wattage/heat output not to be confused with die temperature). In the current state of PC tech, it looks like a good buy if you don't mind needing to buy another GPU in 2 years.
I normally will upgrade every 3 to 4 years or so and I buy at sub $400. That way I don't throw away money and lose tons of value. I have been fairly lucky with getting the 8800GT, HD 7850, RX 480, GTX 1070, and now the RX 6700. The 480 and 6700 I got because the previous cards died before I was ready to upgrade. The 480 I purchased at launch price because it was a great deal for a brand new model. The 1070 I picked up at its end of life during a Black Friday sale. Everything was below $330. I expect my next card will be in the $430-ish range. Even at that price I will expect at least 12GB of vram and hope for 16GB. My guess is I'll be waiting for the refreshes next year.
Really glad you are testing against the 6950xt
In Fortnite 1080 p Epic RT On not even 120 Hrz why we call it Next Gen? Because of the Pricing Policy?
Why is my new 4070 is using only 70-80 percent of capacity during the same part in re4 thus I get less fps? When I go further into a village it increases but never uses 99%
No, the Cpu is not maxed
Will you also do a comparison between 4070 and 6800xt?
Yes
"Don't buy the wrong gpu" video in coming 😂
@@danielowentech thank you!
yeah the question is just how much over msrp will the 4070 be when it comes out as opposed to what the 3070 did in 2020.
Definitivamente esperaré a la siguiente generacion... para por fin comprarme una gt730 :)
3070 going for 300 ish on ebay, worth it?
I've got to figure out how to do this kind of stuff. I can record and have the stuff to get all of the data just can't put everything together
Just changed some settings and playing very smooth the resident evil remake on a 3070 at 4k.
One question, why always use ultra settings with max rt and all that stuff i don't get it?
To test the limit of the card.
Why bought 600 dollar card to play on medium/low setting lol cmon
So you are going to be playing in 30 fps with these settings?
I’d be so upset if I bought a 3070. 2 years after release and games already max out it’s vram
what about for architectural renderings?
The problem is that is gonna be not 20% more money but at least 30%. And there is a 6800xt costs a lot less has more vram and wider bus.
I'm deciding between the RTX 4070, RTX 4070 ti, RX 6950 XT and RX 7900 XT. Can you do a video comparing the 4 of them?
Maybe even an update Best GPU to buy video?
I would go with the 4070Ti and never play in 4k.
I got a 4070 Ti and love it so far, play mainly at 1440p, though that's obviously not much comparison help
Really depends on which games you're looking to play. The 7900xt competes with the 4070ti in the current market, according to PCPartPicker. If you're looking to play games with a high RT workload and are okay with frame-generation, then the 4070ti is likely a better buy than the 7900xt. If you don't care much for raytracing, the 7900xt will offer better performance at the same rasterized settings. We won't know third-party prices for the 4070 until after launch date but it will likely compete directly with the 6950xt (mid $600 range). It's much the same story when deciding between these cards as the aforementioned cards. Also the VRAM situation is better for both AMD cards, which looks to be a big consideration for upcoming games.
@@williamcrms Thanks, that does help. I really don't care about RT at the moment. It's funny I probably don't need the performance from either of these cards, I'm definitely splurging a bit for either one of these. I do play a lot of Fortnite and looks like RT performance is the same for either side in that game, which I might try if I get one of these cards. I still have some time to decide. Might give it a few weeks to see where the prices settle.
I just realized that you have become my go to TechTuber regarding GPU, together with LTT and HUB.
Thanks for your help and good luck going onwards :D
@25:00 Techpowerup did compare 24 games (Love those guys) and average over 3070 is 27% faster making it basically a 6800XT/3080. Of course in the 2 year old nVidia Tech Demos Control and Cyberpunk RT benchmarks it is going to seem alot faster but Cyberpunk and Control have become the outliers. Both written on nVidia hardware and co developed with nVidia. But newer RT titles, the gap has been closing fast. Anyway... Hardware unboxed will come up with their usual 50 game comparison soon LOL. But 27% seems par for the course (6800XT/3080 direct replacement performance) but better power efficiency. So perhaps these are for people with 2000 series cards? Or possibly a 3060ti owner looking to move up. I think a 3070 owner would want a 4070ti or 7900XT.
Yeah, part of me wonders if they did their best to keep the power consumption as low as possible to make this an attractive upgrade for 3060 and other cards. The 30series were really power hungry, but these kinda slot into a sweet spot where I don’t need to upgrade my psu or worry about random power spikes.
You have to understand those who have 3070s that have to sell them on the used market too. Local prices around me are $350-500. I think im going to hang on to my card and wait.
yeah, this makes me even more sure that the 4070 is supposedly the 4070ti before nvidia made the 4080 12gb into the 4070ti. I think I will still wait tho before buying, after all the 3080 12gb was released on a later date after its initial 3080 10gb. Perhaps, in a small chance, Nvidia will have a 16gb 4070 (both ti and non-ti ) in the future. (Sigh) I just want a gpu that can do more than just gaming in a reasonable price.
I can smell SUPER refresh
@@narutonagato95 I hope so, I really do. 🥲
for fortnite can you do performance mode on all low settings for competitive players
I'm not sure price comparison is fair by only having AIB 3070's vs FE 4070 ... you'd really be looking to have maybe $50 on top of 4070 MSRP to simulate AIB pricing.
For the games with the 30% improvement I wonder if they are happier with the extra vram ...
I found a 4070 for 629. How much of an upgrade will i get from the RTX 3060?
It will be a noticable upgrade, but unless you really need that performance for something like 4k, the 3060 should run most games pretty well at 1440p.
