Copernicus must be so relieved that at least Edred’s mind is still in one piece. However, a team is only as strong as it’s weakest player. Melinda needs to work twice as hard if this team has any hope of saving the world.

But, I also know it's a matter of personal choice, I can clearly see the show is good, I just happen to be someone who does not like the "clean london steam-punk esthetic"... Something about it ain't for me. Also, unlike the other works of the creator, the show actually feels like "Too much"... Samurai jack perfected the term "less is more", I can feel a total change of direction from the creator, while I can feel it's the same creator as well. The show ain't for me, but I think it's perfect for it's target demographic.
I disagree with 2 of your points. 1.) I ain't saying Winston's dead till I see a doctor confirm it. If he had a piece of wood stabbing him okay, but for now I think he was just unconscious and severely hurt. I feel like narratively he still has a role to play as a reminder of Emma's life/soul and killing him so soon wouldn't make sense. Granted I'm betting Melinda is with her/Emma's parents rn, trying to comprehend everything, but I still think he has a part. I say soul/life cuz rn just looking from the show, not at production or anything like that, I feel like it's almost a soul override or awakening kind of thing based on OG Seng saying their soulS are now linked and we don't know what happens after the evil is defeated and what that means for their old lives. 2.) I feel like the wedding went by quick for me, and felt important to establish "Emma." She had a nice, properly upper class life, her father as a classic British officer stereotype, loving her dearly but tries to keep his emotions in to an extent while her mother is the honest, doting glue to their only child household. Emma and Winston are childhood lovers and he really cares for her albeit mayb more overprotective despite her ready to stand up for him when he gets kicked in the face playing soccor (feel like it'snot pointed out enough but by Seng lmao). But she isn't exactly that person anymore, Emma and is now slowly changing into Melinda. I thought the wedding was a perfect way to establish sympathy for both Emma mourning wat would hav been the start of her life while also really made me feel for Winston both from being left behind at his wedding and bcuz he never stopped searching for her, only to accidentally get hurt from her being unable to control her powers (due to the lack of Melinda memories/acceptance possibly of Melinda). Tbh, I also felt a lot of sympathy for tanjiro losing his entire family even in that short time. I enjoy that type of thing as a kinda opener, seeing a happy character just casually living not seeing the narrative red flags, suddenly become shattered and devastated at the tragic loss of wat was important to them to show how harsh their world is lol To b fair to u tho, I'm the type to sob at a Pixar short too lmao But like everything else, u right. Fantastic character design and aesthetic. The influence is such a clear homeage of love. Loved the fight scenes so far. I can't wait to watch more! Super curious about fox lady. Reincarnation and Amnesia plots are difficult to pull off. Some of the voice actor are new and I hope to see them develop in the future.

Overall a good review, I can agree with the wedding scene to thermostat because it might feel like it dragged on for some. with your example of demon slayer only because sometimes especially especially like in comics, you don’t always break things down immediately first you start with a tragic moment just to get the viewers attention. Especially since lake with shonen jump you want to keep the viewers engaged, but not dwell on some things. and that works as long as later on the viewer gets an understanding during the series.

I love how the art style actually changed a bit from the first episode compared to the 2nd episode. The style in the 2nd episode looks a tad bit like 1920s popeye which is perfect considering thats the year they are in. smol details like that make me love a show all the more!

We most likely haven't seen Copernicus' mech potential at full steam yet I wonder if he'll be the "Jake the dog" of the team in the sense that if he's able to shapeshift a different weapon or form almost every episode. I think it'll be really creative and cool to see

It was good. Reading between the lines I would say that Emma not being suppressed or whatever happens to the host is part of the fox demon's plan to prevent the rebirth plus the other robots trying to destroy their robot and the timestream incident that drew the actual monk away leaving his orphan boy host in charge. On a different note the regular people's design is very old fashioned, like a Max Fleischer cartoon, especially Emma/Melinda who looks like Betty Boop raided Morticia Adams closet.Pretty cool.
My brother who grew up watching the cartoon classics. Said that Unicorn Warriors looked like a baby, Samurai Jack and the PowerPuff girls conceived. I then proceeded to look at him, cause that was wrong on a few levels. Still think he's right about Unicorn Warriors tho.
I hope that we see imagines of their past lives and see if being reincarnated changes their perspective. Like imagine at one point Edred got reincarnated and started feeling doubt or tired of the eternal mission he is on, or he reincarnated from a scoundrel and he learns some subterfuge type skill set.

This is without a doubt the best animated tv series ever made. I know this series just started,but seeing a character like from black and white cartoon or Belgian France Comic design mixed with action is really interesting and it has a great comedy.Heck the animation more fluid (like Genddy previous series,Primal) than any other cartoon series,where some of their animation looks stiff. Overall,this series is worth to watched.
I just watched 4 episodes of this show. I dig it so far and I really like the visuals, but the plot sounds like a corny anime for kids. That's not a bad thing, but I grew up in a time where I was watching almost R-rated content on shows like Aqua Teen, the Boondocks, the Venture Bros and Metalocalypse all on Adult Swim late night when I was only 8 years old. I was hoping for something more like that.
i don't think the death/s (both for uwe and demon slayer) are supposed to make you feel something, more supposed to give the characters further motivation and drive. at least in demon slayer i believe that to be the case since it's so soon in. it's not really supposed to mean anything to us until we get further in and we see how it effects the surviving character. at least that is my take on it. i also think for melinda/emma, we aren't supposed to feel for her spouse's death, more so we are supposed to view the conflicting feelings and emotion that follows what she accidentally did. because half of her won't understand or care, while the other will be deeply hurt by it. my interpretation is we are supposed to feel as empty and confused about it as she is. but i think that depends on where the series goes going forward.
Everyone has their own tastes, but I personally think Melinda's character design is absolutely hideous. Every previous incarnation of her had a decent design, but the one they went with for the current protagonist is bafflingly awful to me. The weird, sideways elongated head, comically gigantic glossy eyes and huge eyebrows, the way her mouth hangs off the bottom of her face, the extremely basic color scheme... The voice acting isn't helping either. Actually, I don't care for any of the characters' designs or voices. If I didn't know better, I would almost think Genndy was trying to make a lame show on purpose.
It's interesting, but I have a feeling that things will not go well for Melinda/Emma and the subsequent paramours. Someone's going to lose. And considering how Samurai Jack and Primal (haven't seen it, but heard), I wouldn't count on a happy ending. While I do like Emma's design, I can't say I care for the steampunk look or the animation style.
No trying to hate on you’re perspective but I do think it’s kinda odd that you wouldn’t be able to feel for someone who has lost something dear to them like if you saw someone and heads there whole family got marked your not gonna feel any type of sympathy or empathy for that person?

Ok I saw the first episode I’ll need to watch the second but am I the only one that isn’t to much of a fan? Like it feels like the weakest parts of season 5 samurai jack. It might grow on me but from primal to this….idk
I can value what they are doing there, but, something about it just didn't hook me, I have no urge to continue watching. Perhaps it started a bit too frantic... I feel like there are too much characters and too much setting thrown at me right away, and I kinda prefer a more ease-in tone, I don't like it when a show expects me to care about things I have just been introduced to, and already on the first episode there are too much emotions and the sense of someone holding a sign saying "You are suppose to care about this". I personally don't like clean-steam-punk esthetic... Or that overly technological and smooth feel... I got introduced to the steam-punk concept through the Thief game series... And that's actually the only steam punk esthetic that I care about - The more medieval one, that actually feels and looks old tech with highly unadvanced people operating it. I personally never liked the "london esthetic", it just does not speak to me... Same goes for retro-futurism, unless it's being done in a fallout style, more satirical sense. The clean clear looks and feel of the "London steam punk" just feels... "Nah" to me, matter of personal choice I suppose. Also, the whole "special team assemble against evil" is a concept I could not care less about... Seen it a billion times, and the attempted twist of "Someone lost their memory to become a member unwillingly" does not click for me, because I have no emotional attachment to anything... I have nothing to care about, and despite the design appearing all "care about me, I am unique and wonderful" I just don't feel it. I guess all in all, I feel too detached from everything happening there... I can't feel related to it at all, and I guess that's a logical response - the show isn't made for me, I can sense through and through that I am not the target audience, despite the creator being one that made stuff I cherish and love, samurai jack and Primal can easily hook me in, these two shows appeal to me immensely, mostly because they are a setting for small stories that come and go and stand on their own, I love that format, and I love the setting of both shows, they are journeys that fit me in a way. Seems like the video here somewhat bears similar feelings to what I portray - the shows expects us to pre-portray emotions to things we have zero relations to... For me it just does not work, and both samurai jack and primal manages in small episodes to make me care about characters, mostly due to the ease-in approach... It does not bombard me with setting and characters, it just focuses on a few things and let the setting navigate the few characters it shows and really make the most out of them. The best way I can summarize my feelings about watching unicorn, is "Too much", I prefer to see more being brought from less. Still, the "too much" approach appeals to new audience types - they don't have enough patience for ease in, they wanna get impressed right away, see a ton of setting and pretty much just ride some massive wave, and the show gives that sensation of being big... I just ain't into that. Give me something small, I can see more in it.
Symbiotic titan had a full season to develope its characters joe, UWE just started. Plus you can't really compare the two shows outside of the creator, plots are different and so are the characters

You can see the influence of Tezuka here. Like a blend in between classic cartoon of the 20's plus showa anime like Astro Boy. It's damm beautiful.

It was good. Reading between the lines I would say that Emma not being suppressed or whatever happens to the host is part of the fox demon's plan to prevent the rebirth plus the other robots trying to destroy their robot and the timestream incident that drew the actual monk away leaving his orphan boy host in charge.
On a different note the regular people's design is very old fashioned, like a Max Fleischer cartoon, especially Emma/Melinda who looks like Betty Boop raided Morticia Adams closet.Pretty cool.

My brother who grew up watching the cartoon classics.
Said that Unicorn Warriors looked like a baby, Samurai Jack and the PowerPuff girls conceived.
I then proceeded to look at him, cause that was wrong on a few levels.

I hope that we see imagines of their past lives and see if being reincarnated changes their perspective. Like imagine at one point Edred got reincarnated and started feeling doubt or tired of the eternal mission he is on, or he reincarnated from a scoundrel and he learns some subterfuge type skill set.

This is without a doubt the best animated tv series ever made. I know this series just started,but seeing a character like from black and white cartoon or Belgian France Comic design mixed with action is really interesting and it has a great comedy.Heck the animation more fluid (like Genddy previous series,Primal) than any other cartoon series,where some of their animation looks stiff. Overall,this series is worth to watched.

I just watched 4 episodes of this show. I dig it so far and I really like the visuals, but the plot sounds like a corny anime for kids. That's not a bad thing, but I grew up in a time where I was watching almost R-rated content on shows like Aqua Teen, the Boondocks, the Venture Bros and Metalocalypse all on Adult Swim late night when I was only 8 years old. I was hoping for something more like that.
The smooth lines remind me of Powerpuff girls tbh

i don't think the death/s (both for uwe and demon slayer) are supposed to make you feel something, more supposed to give the characters further motivation and drive. at least in demon slayer i believe that to be the case since it's so soon in. it's not really supposed to mean anything to us until we get further in and we see how it effects the surviving character. at least that is my take on it.
i also think for melinda/emma, we aren't supposed to feel for her spouse's death, more so we are supposed to view the conflicting feelings and emotion that follows what she accidentally did. because half of her won't understand or care, while the other will be deeply hurt by it. my interpretation is we are supposed to feel as empty and confused about it as she is. but i think that depends on where the series goes going forward.
Everyone has their own tastes, but I personally think Melinda's character design is absolutely hideous. Every previous incarnation of her had a decent design, but the one they went with for the current protagonist is bafflingly awful to me. The weird, sideways elongated head, comically gigantic glossy eyes and huge eyebrows, the way her mouth hangs off the bottom of her face, the extremely basic color scheme... The voice acting isn't helping either.
Actually, I don't care for any of the characters' designs or voices. If I didn't know better, I would almost think Genndy was trying to make a lame show on purpose.

It's interesting, but I have a feeling that things will not go well for Melinda/Emma and the subsequent paramours. Someone's going to lose. And considering how Samurai Jack and Primal (haven't seen it, but heard), I wouldn't count on a happy ending. While I do like Emma's design, I can't say I care for the steampunk look or the animation style.

I can value what they are doing there, but, something about it just didn't hook me, I have no urge to continue watching.
Perhaps it started a bit too frantic... I feel like there are too much characters and too much setting thrown at me right away, and I kinda prefer a more ease-in tone, I don't like it when a show expects me to care about things I have just been introduced to, and already on the first episode there are too much emotions and the sense of someone holding a sign saying "You are suppose to care about this".
I personally don't like clean-steam-punk esthetic... Or that overly technological and smooth feel... I got introduced to the steam-punk concept through the Thief game series... And that's actually the only steam punk esthetic that I care about - The more medieval one, that actually feels and looks old tech with highly unadvanced people operating it.
I personally never liked the "london esthetic", it just does not speak to me... Same goes for retro-futurism, unless it's being done in a fallout style, more satirical sense.
The clean clear looks and feel of the "London steam punk" just feels... "Nah" to me, matter of personal choice I suppose.
Also, the whole "special team assemble against evil" is a concept I could not care less about... Seen it a billion times, and the attempted twist of "Someone lost their memory to become a member unwillingly" does not click for me, because I have no emotional attachment to anything... I have nothing to care about, and despite the design appearing all "care about me, I am unique and wonderful" I just don't feel it.
I guess all in all, I feel too detached from everything happening there... I can't feel related to it at all, and I guess that's a logical response - the show isn't made for me, I can sense through and through that I am not the target audience, despite the creator being one that made stuff I cherish and love, samurai jack and Primal can easily hook me in, these two shows appeal to me immensely, mostly because they are a setting for small stories that come and go and stand on their own, I love that format, and I love the setting of both shows, they are journeys that fit me in a way.
Seems like the video here somewhat bears similar feelings to what I portray - the shows expects us to pre-portray emotions to things we have zero relations to... For me it just does not work, and both samurai jack and primal manages in small episodes to make me care about characters, mostly due to the ease-in approach... It does not bombard me with setting and characters, it just focuses on a few things and let the setting navigate the few characters it shows and really make the most out of them.
The best way I can summarize my feelings about watching unicorn, is "Too much", I prefer to see more being brought from less.
Still, the "too much" approach appeals to new audience types - they don't have enough patience for ease in, they wanna get impressed right away, see a ton of setting and pretty much just ride some massive wave, and the show gives that sensation of being big... I just ain't into that.
Give me something small, I can see more in it.

Symbiotic titan had a full season to develope its characters joe, UWE just started. Plus you can't really compare the two shows outside of the creator, plots are different and so are the characters
