So I've been a makeup artist for 12+ years now and a key difference between both is that MBM researched different skin tones. That's why it's more yellow and neutral based. The PT is not and leaning towards cooler or red tones. Tones that are not as friendly to darker skin. Dark skin often is yellow or neutral in undertones. Many nude palettes don't have dark skin inclusion so this is one of the few from a non Black owned brand. That's also why the white looks like a cream.. Because it actually is a cream or most likely a linen. While I would've preferred MBM to organized the colors but it's easy for any person to put it near their face and see a shade that matches or comes close. I really like PT formula for other palettes thro.
If I understand you correctly, you are saying that there are more cool shades than warm shades in eyeshadow out there? Completely disagree. Only lately have I seen more cool toned eyeshadows.
@@ImToastAlso I am literally someone who worked as a MUA and I'm a dark skin Black woman, yes there's always been more colors available for cooler tones because most white women were not using warm tones. Even in Asia it's still common to use cool tones. Literally one of the things Black women complained about for yrs is how most eyeshadows didn't like right on us because the undertones were cool and show up as white, silver or grey.
@@ImToastAlso maybe research eyeshadow reviews by Black women or Black muas and see how often they talked about this issue. Which still goes on to this day.
Okay I just have to share I'm so thankful you made this video it's hard to find good unbiased reviews like this nowadays or just reviews in general that actually talk about the integrity and the quality of the makeup. I had been eyeing the makeup by Mario palette for several months now I went to Sephora and was going to buy it yesterday and the girl that was there told me to get the Patrick ta one instead I still ended up opting for the makeup by Mario palette because of Patrick ta one is just too bulky for my makeup bag that I'd like to carry it in but it's only buttery smooth and I can totally see why people would choose it for being easier to blend however I'm not a cool tone kind of gal so I'm also glad that I went with the makeup by Mario one for that reason. And now after watching your video I'm convinced even further that I went with the right pallete for my skin tone, makeup bag and glad I also spent less.
Thank you for comparing these! I totally agree, when you love makeup, comparing eyeshadow palettes is so normal and a must want in our world! And eyeshadow is my favorite part of makeup, so I really enjoyed this video! I purchased the MBM palette last year during Sephora's sale, and am happy with it. The PT looks So nice, and I really like the diffused look it gave, but I will never use the creams, and can't justify that price! I love that you bought yourself a birthday gift! Mine is next month, and I'm going to treat myself to something too! 🌻💛
This was an awesome comparison video, very through job explaining everything. I have the MBM palette and I can definitely see I don’t need the PT. Thank you!
This video is so in depth and awesome. You’re explanation of undertone for both of these so called “neutral” palettes is so clutch in decision making. I have the Makeup By Mario palette but I wish he had some cool tones to balance out the color story. I appreciate the pigment for my darker skin and still find it useful for when I need a simple brown on the lid.
I think they are both very beautiful. I love diffused shadow especially for daytime. But I also love highly pigmented and punchy more so for nighttime looks. The creams in PT set him apart from drugstore neutral palettes. I love MBM but he can be duped in the drugstore or indie
This video is so spot on. Just discovered your channel. I have both palettes and it’s weird that even though I like the PT formula better, I always reach for MBM. Maybe it’s because I’m the type of artist that likes to build up color so I am very light and quick handed in blending. Because of that and the general amount of shadow I tend to pick up, I take more time with PT compared to MBM. Also, even though I did not really make a comparison on them for wear time, I just find that MBM sticks well to whatever base I use underneath. It’s also easier to fix after a client has sweat a lot. I find using PT to touch up, after a client’s lids have already oiled up, can be tricky. It’s difficult to match one eye to the other. So definitely not sure if this is the same for everybody but this is what I experience based on my makeup technique.
I love both sides but IMO I think that the Patrick Ta side looks more seamless between the shades. It looks so smooth like you would see in celebrity makeup. I see the separation of colors more in the Makeup by Mario side which isn't a preference for me. I love smooth blends
i haven’t watched a beauty vid in so long but i need a new basic eye shadow palette (do not ask how old my naked 3 palette is k thanks) and i really enjoyed your break down! was on the fence about which one of these i was going to invest in and you sold me on the patrick ta!
I didn’t want the Patrick Ta pallet until now! It’s beautiful! I love matte shadows. But I also have some Colourpop pallets that I hope will kind of be the same thing. It’ll just be a few pallet instead of 1. Very pretty.
Good job :). I think is really depends on your skin tone. I am neutral/warm olive green. I need more warmer beiges and browns. Anything with a gray base , all pulls gray on my eyes and I look bruised or zombie like lol. I personally lean to the Mario palette. BUT it's 50 bucks for 1 gram each pan. Viseart has the smaller versions of their 12 pan matte eyeshadow palettes, they are also 1 gram each pan. And they are normally 40, but go on sale for 30. They also last for years!
New subscriber, another influencer out here said Patrick Ta is AMAZING. That said I am 59 and I still love makeup, I bought the Patrick Ta, I love matte shadows and cool tones. I appreciate your honest review/opinion of these shadows. Thank you.
Hi Vianney! I haven’t tried MBM’s palette after all this time but I’m leaning towards PT palette. I have his other palettes and I enjoy the formula. I love all mattes and the colors are beautiful. Definitely grabbing PT palette during the next Sephora sale! Thanks for sharing 🩷
This video helped me to decide on the Patrick Ta palette. I have a neutral, leaning more cool toned complextion. Also, blendability is important as i have 60 year old skin. Also, I am too impatient to blend, blend, and blend some more. I find your look with the Patrick Ta side so much softer, which is important to me. Thanks for the video!
Is the Patrick Ta formula more similar to the Charlotte Tilbury formula? I have the MBM on the way to me, but I can’t get Patrick in my country, but I prefer the look of it
There both beautiful palettes!! I already have the mbm palette so I would pass on the Patrick Ta. I bought the mbm palette when it first came out and I can't believe it just recently went viral. I even have his shimmer palette so sometimes I use both palettes together depending on what I'm going for. I prefer mbm. Thank you so much for this video and your looks always come out so beautiful!!😊❤
I’m super allergic to the Makeup by Mario palette 😩 When ever I used it, my eyes got itchy and swelled up! Sucks since it wasn’t cheap. I purchased the Patrick Ta but have not received it, I’m excited and nervous, I hope I’m not allergic to it as well! Thank for doing this videos love watching you! 💛
any update on patrick ta allergy wise? I also bought patrick ta because MBM was causing me irritation. How is the patrick ta one working out for you? also did you ever have any problems with molding? i'm scared because i read the pt one molds very quickly.
I was contemplating getting Patrick ta, I already have the Mario one. I'm going to skip it though and get the limited edition hourglass instead. These prices are getting crazier and crazier.
I have deep set and hooded eyes. I joke my eyelids eat eyeshadow. I have much better lasting power with eyeshadow sticks. They set and last all day. I heard good things about Milani's new ones, I personally didn't like elf's, I do like Laura Mercier, Malley beauty, Sephora collection, and real her beauty.
Can you please compare the Patrick Ta to the new Skkn pallet? I want to know which one is the best quality with blending and pigmentation and don’t care much as best bang for my buck in this case. Thank you! It would be so helpful if you could review and compare them! 😊
I really don’t like matte eye looks. I have got PT MD 1 & 2 and waiting for 3 to arrive. However I will be using it more as a first step then will take a shimmer from another palette.
Hey Queen! #ReturningSubbie Squad! You always come through with the new makeup & bangers. Happy belated birthday as well. Mines was 9/5 and I really wanted the Patrick Ta palette. 2:40 I agree, very travel friendly. I love your go to looks and what you be using. You taught me to always stick to what you know especially with wear tests. 15:18 I can’t tell the difference tbh. But I like the Patrick ta but I’m on a budget for a month and it’s only going leave me $10 left to buy makeup. Nothing wrong with saving or waiting.
one of the differences is that Patrick Ta's matte palette does NOT contain Carmine, which is very irritating for sensitive eyes. I am very allergic to carmine. The Makeup for Mario DOES contain Carmine... All you girls who have reactions to certain eyeshadows and don't know why, often the culprit is Carmine.
I have both. Mario’s is better in pigmentation! I’ll stick with Jefree Star cosmetics! I wish I seen your video sooner!! I regret having both!! A waste of $$.
Danessa myricks “groundwork defining neutrals” are waaaaay better than these why is no one talking about it ! The formula obliterates these ! If you want a good neutral pallete that is multi use these just don’t stand a chance against danessa myricks
That palette has such a nice array of tones, organized so well… but it’s a bigger cream square with a very small matching rectangle of powder, right? I tried getting a feel for these at Sephora but the creams were all dried out… concerned that it wouldn’t last through the years as an investment

How much did you buy it on sale? It’s currently $50
Ooh I was hoping someone would do this video!!
Yay!
The Patrick ta is amazing! It’s one of the best formulas out there. Silky smooth!
Super silky ☺️
I have both palettes and enjoy the MBM over PT I think the MBM is more pigmented and I feel I get a more defined look
Yes I agree, you get more intensity and definition. Both great palettes, just comes down to preference ☺️
This was an awesome comparison video, very through job explaining everything. I have the MBM palette and I can definitely see I don’t need the PT. Thank you!

Ooooh I can’t decide which palette to choose. What a problem.😱 they look so similar but the prices might be different. I really can’t tell.
I prefer the makeup by Mario easy to store and travel with honestly. Or to just have in a makeup bag :)
I just it PT and I don’t know why, but I was trying not to buy but I dreamt about it because it so cool toned and pretty
Is the Patrick Ta formula more similar to the Charlotte Tilbury formula?
I have the MBM on the way to me, but I can’t get Patrick in my country, but I prefer the look of it
Is there a difference in staying power between the two? Thanks.
Nope! I wore that look all day until the night time. Even got a work out in and they both stayed perfectly fine on my eyelids 😀
There both beautiful palettes!! I already have the mbm palette so I would pass on the Patrick Ta. I bought the mbm palette when it first came out and I can't believe it just recently went viral. This look 😍😍😍😍😍 I can’t decide hahah I have the other two Patrick Tas and do hav the Mario Etherial one.. but man you look really gorgeous ❤❤
Omg so hard to pick hahaha maybe it should come down to if you really want the cream shades or not 😀
And thank you so much 💓
Can you pls comment on the staying power of the shadows

I have been debating on which one to get and i think the patrick ta is the winner in my opinion only because his shadows dont contain talc.

Loveeee your honesty and Good vibes 😎 ❤

I needed this video. Love your channel and new subscriber ❤
Omg i wanted this exact video! Thank you sm xx
I hardly ever wear eye makeup because my monolids are just frustrating to work with. But this video was really interesting.
I’m sorry! I wish I had tips for you for monolids. What I will say is that this eyeshadow look looks great one everyone ☺️

Kylie Cosmetics also has a less expensive neutrals palette
I haven’t owned a Kylie palette. Do you like them?
Yes! I saw that one at Ulta, and it is very pretty for neutral lovers!
I really don’t like matte eye looks. I have got PT MD 1 & 2 and waiting for 3 to arrive. However I will be using it more as a first step then will take a shimmer from another palette.

Great Review! I think I like the PT better!

Great video, super helpful thanks! 🌞
The names of the shadows for Patrick Ta are on the back of the Palette.
Really a great comparison! I have the Mario so I can save my money!
Wow i was really hoping this video

The Makeup for Mario DOES contain Carmine... All you girls who have reactions to certain eyeshadows and don't know why, often the culprit is Carmine.
Patrikta side Looks better. Blending is nicer , Looks more expnsive
I’m hoping to save up 2500 points for the $100 Sephora gift card to buy this and Danessa Myricks palette because I don’t need them but if it’s free.
That’s a great idea 😀 I’ve read that danessa’s palette can also be used on the face 🙌🏻
Make sure you love it because if you decide to return it they won’t refund you your points nor you $100 Sephora gift card learned the hard way
Unpopular opinion I I like the makeup by Mario size and packaging way much better than the Patrick ta palette
I have both. Mario’s is better in pigmentation! I’ll stick with Jefree Star cosmetics! I wish I seen your video sooner!! I regret having both!! A waste of $$.
