Short game requires imagination. The ability to see what will happen from a landing point and adjusting that landing point to get the required result. This guy knows his course, the only thing missing is repetition - practicing the shots round his greens. That's life, or rather his busy life is in the way of getting his youth back. I wish him well in finding the time to unlock the short game, then watch out Par he's coming for you!

    I. Can. Relate. Same handicap. Mostly decent drives. Get "close" to the greens, but hit few.
Thought I really needed to work on approach accuracy, but after watching this, I really need to zero in on my up and downs from around the green. Mats at the range don't capture the work around the greens that I see. Need to find a good short practice game area at a golf course!

J5 is a class act. I was in a similar spot a few years ago with the putter. I changed to no look putting figuring if i was going to hit a bad putt looking at the ball what difference will it make not looking at it! Anyways has completely taken the stress of putting out of my game. Took a little getting used to but is now a natural thing. Highly recommend checking it out for fellow playas. Another classy vlog GS. Thanks!

My favorite type of golf is playing with people who love the game as much as I do. I don’t care if they are a 20+ handicapper. Serious but not that serious. I don’t even care if they don’t know all the unwritten rules of golf. Play music as loud as you want, step on my line, talk in my back swing, I don’t care if they just enjoy each shot for what it is. For whatever reason I play my best golf and I’m a low 70’s shooter with 1 or 2 rounds out of 10 under par.

I had given into the dark side of obsessing with recording my swing and trying to fine tune it with a lessons and Swingtweaks. Going to the driving range and scraping and hitting so much over the last couple of months and my scores kept rising.
And then I remembered what got me to lower scores in the first place. I watched Break 90 and Break 100 videos and worked on short game and putting. Yesterday I finally relaxed enough on the golf course to just play one shot at a time and shot an 86. The way of the playa is back and I ain’t never going back. Next spring and summer is going to be ripe with lower scores with high scores sprinkled in because that’s golf.

Im the reverse of J5 - can't hit a Driver, FW or Hybrid straight or far. 156 carry with my 5i...average 32 putts a round and good at chipping and pitching from 120 yards and in. I had a lot of 9-hole rounds of 40-45 this year. I have not been out on a Regulation 18 in a while, been playing with my Wife who is brand new to the game and we play our local 2500 yard, 9-hole course. I'm sure the scores will creep up on the regulation 18 due to the respective 9 holes being longer than the 2500 yards. But if I play smart, I should be able to get close to breaking 90 for sure.

His approach game is loose which leads him to looooong putts when he does hit the green. But his chipping and putting is what is holding him back. 42 putts, including seven three putts, and 12 save chances with zero saves. He should be making about 1/3 of those. This round could have very easily been an 82-83 instead of a 90. Love that driver swing, and his course management is pretty solid as well.

I played with a guy years ago who had one of the most beautiful, compact swings I've ever seen. He hit powerful drives and crisp irons. He could've walked onto the driving range and hit balls at a tour event and no one would've batted an eye, he'd have fit right in. Yet I, a 4-handicap at the time, was able to beat him by several strokes. It wasn't a matter of me playing out of my mind or him getting bad bounces. The guy struggled a bit with distance control and just couldn't make a wise decision. He wasted all those beautiful shots. I never asked but he had to have been about an 8 or 10 handicap, but with wiser choices and average distance control, the guy'd have been scratch or better.

From the hole back in this order.
Start at One and Go further back from the hole until you’re competent.
      1. One foot putts. Make 50 or 100 in a row.
      2. Putting to a tee in the green for distance control. Stop the ball within a foot. Never leaving the next putt in the same direction.
      3. Chipping around the green using toe down chipping and rule of 12. Chip to on average 3 feet or less in the practice green.
      4. Pitch shots. Develop one Swing (50% feeling) and change the loft of the club to change distances with the same swing.
      5. Bunker shots. Get out in one shot using techniques I’ve explained for soft or hard sand depending on your location.
      6. Half 7 irons on the range for contact.
That’s all you really need. Work backwards and stop at the one that you struggle with until it’s good. Then move to the next.

Perfect example of someone that needs to sit on the putting green and work on his putting for hours. Learn to 1-2 putt guy will be shooting low 80s every round
