    • @beltanetrex
      @beltanetrex 6 месяцев назад

      @@quazwasd4062the basic repeated augmented A chord and the "you're so sweet you're so fine" but Marc added the climb up as well as the c, Em, A progression and the descending riff after each verse. Certainly used the HWolf song as a foundation, but added some great stuff. There's a recording of Marc playing guitars at home with Roy Wood where he says he "nicked" Jeepster from Howlin Wolf, but I think he sold himself short in terms if what he added. Now I Love to Boogie he nicked certainly musically from Webb pierce, but I love Marc's cosmic surreal lyrics he changed it to.

    Marc invented or perfected so many rockstar moves, including the fish-face, and he's generally recognized as the originator of Glam.... by no less an authority than Bowie himself. Amazing when you consider that, at the dawn of the 1970s, Bolan transformed the gentle acoustic freak-folk of Tyrannosaurus Rex into the Electric Warrior Glam of T. Rex. Great stuff.

    • @jokerman6015
      @jokerman6015 7 лет назад +3

      Originator of Glam? I think Lou Reed was doing it earlier, like in the sixties with Velvet Underground. HE is the one who influenced Bowie to go there!

    • @cathyt502
      @cathyt502 7 лет назад +5

      Agree. I think T.Visconti was producing Bolan and Bowie at the same time, they were rivals when they first met, than became friends. Bolan was doing glam first. Lady Stardust is about him.

    • @eugeniuswilliams5457
      @eugeniuswilliams5457 7 лет назад +3

      It was all the same period, Nobody came first or second. Its not the Olympic games! People of similar mind and taste influence each other sublimely> Thats how music scenes have always been. and not all the hippy acoustic stuff was gentle. Just listen to Bolans 3 or 4 albums from 1960's, Some full on bongo, guitar work, a bit like flamenco! It could be wild too!

    • @paulfrantizek102
      @paulfrantizek102 6 лет назад +6

      I don't think Lou Reed was really Glam before 71 or 72 (Transformer didn't come out until late 72). Velvet Underground Loaded came out in late 1970 and that was decidedly not Glam.
      I think Marc Bolan deserves credit as the originator of Glam Rock.

    Marc Bolan enlightened the world as to what a ROCK STAR was. I bought "Electric Warrior" in '71, while in Jr. High, and found out that 'Bang a Gong' was only a small amount of this man's talent. He was ahead of the times. It has always been a mystery to me, as to why Marc Bolan and TRex were not able to achieve the popularity in the U.S., that they did in Europe and elsewhere. Marc Bolan is MORE recognized NOW, for his talent and music, than he was during the '70s. I guess he was further ahead of the times than anyone knew.
