Great charismatic performer and front man but a great guitarist? I don't think so. The intro to Get it on at around 43:25 is dreadful. He was competent at best.
I was in the army in Germany in early 71 and I remember seeing posters everywhere with T- Rex headlining concerts everywhere. Never got to see them but when I got out at the end of 71 and bought the album Electric Warrior I understood their popularity. A really fun band with some amazing hooks!
Brilliant 👏 I just love mmarc and t rex since 71 as an 11 year old. My two girl cousins went to this gig. I couldn't go but they took me to the Xmas gig Edmonton sundown 72, my first gig ever. Still love Marc at 63 , music is brilliant as was he. Rip mate
Never boring renditions. A great ROCK band. What a rhythm section. I'm happy to get one small photo of this band at that special time. Boogie with soul.
The drummer is really solid and the bass player really feels the songs letting Marc take the lead and supporting him. Great band. Steve is in great form too.
Steve Currie on bass, Bill Legend on drums. That's Mickey Finn on percussion, not Steve Peregrine Took. Steve left Tyrannosaurus Rex between the albums Unicorn (1969) and A Beard of Stars (1970). He was never in the electric version of the band.
Mickey Finn looks like a bit of a prima donna, the way he threw that tambourine at the roadie at the start of the clip. And what was his contribution to the band? Hitting a few bongo drums and shaking a tambourine!
For all you young people who now go to gigs. This is how we used to do it! Raw music! Not many sound engineers like you get at Glasto! Pure Music! Created and executed by a true legend!
T - REX are the best, great backing band, they did it all! In those days no one cared about tuning an instrument, but the crew were happy with that, whilst having a fixed hairstyle and microphone adjustment problems? The audience loved it and that's what counts. What Bolan did was amazing, I love it. Wish Marc was still here to hear us cheer him. xxx ooo....
I’m so glad they filmed at least one complete concert for posterity so rock fans can see Marc Bolan live forever! He died way too young and this is the only way to see him again and hear the music he made along with his band. Thanks to whoever posted this show and thank God RUclips exists! 👏🏻🎸😎
This is so well filmed and edited compared to a lot of footage of the era, where there's usually an extreme close up of the bass player during the guitar solo and that kind of nonsense. Hats off to the film crew for capturing the magic and doing these guys justice.
One of my favourite bands and it's very good but I'm pretty sure it's been coloured enhanced. Looks a bit like what Peter Jackson's crew did to enhance old Beatles footage in 'Get Back'. But I still love it.

This is better sound than the actual concert. It's beautifully filtered sound. Everyone was on their feet and screaming. Marc was the bomb at that moment. The sound and smell was unforgettable cos young girls who were 80% of the audience were peeing themselves. We two guys were shell-shocked. Don't let this video fool you. It was nuts. Wow, 52 years ago. I'm 66 now and was 15 1/2 and still remember it.
Brilliant memories after watching this superb live recording - I was lucky enough to see T. Rex at Weeley festival in 1971. They were fantastic even though some of the hippies did boo the electric numbers at first. One of my best weekends ever. Hard to believe it's almost 50 years since we tragically lost Marc but his legacy lives on in his music and he'll never be forgotten. He is a rock legend. Rock on Marc.
Greatness personified,
I never knew he was such a good guitarist.
Agree 100%.
Loved T Rex as a kid,and still do! Marc's music and legend has stood the test of time...
Like all great artists, his music truly got a magic to it...
Rip mate
Damn he was bloody good
Never boring renditions. A great ROCK band. What a rhythm section. I'm happy to get one small photo of this band at that special time. Boogie with soul.
he always had a cool guitar tone, real heavy and gnarly.
HH amps
The Man. The Band. The soundtrack of my life. Marc Bolan. T.Rex, The Sweet, forever!.
Wow' Mikey Finn. It is all coming back to me now.
the drummer is great
Mickey Finn looks like a bit of a prima donna, the way he threw that tambourine at the roadie at the start of the clip. And what was his contribution to the band? Hitting a few bongo drums and shaking a tambourine!
@@langdalepauland if he was staring at me the whole concert like he was Marc it would’ve totally creeped me out.
Such a privilege to see T.rex at their peak ,I was a fan in 71 as a 10 year old ,unbelievable
I was 10 years old in 1971 too and heard the first time t.rex. It blew my mind.
Now 50 years ago, time flys.
I saw them in Cardiff on this tour, June 10th 1972, I had just turned 12, it changed my life, a massive influence.
Did you possibly see Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1975 in Cardiff?
Did you manage to escape Cardiff yet
The day I was born ! Metal guru was number one that week
@@jamesmack3314 Unfortunately not
@@stilllearning6035 HaHa, I'm a Swansea lad, I had to be covert.
T.Rex одна из любимых групп. Болан великолепен.
Thank God some one kept this concert on film ! Fantastic ! What a Band Class Act ! ☘️
What a treat! Marc Bolan in concert! I've loved the sound of his music since 1971. A unique talent.
Wish Marc was still here to hear us cheer him. xxx ooo....
He was brilliant and one of the best players and song writers in that era.
I’m so glad they filmed at least one complete concert for posterity so rock fans can see Marc Bolan live forever!
He died way too young and this is the only way to see him again and hear the music he made along with his band.
Thanks to whoever posted this show and thank God RUclips exists!
👏🏻🎸😎
Great sound quality too . Thank God Rock 'n' Roll exists .
see trexstacy if u get a chance superb
Ahhh God invented & runs the internet. Never knew that. Cheers G-G-GOD!
Totally agree!...did you know you can see this also his 8.30 concert on did ✌
I have double DVD Born to Boogie and he is in special place in room
This is so well filmed and edited compared to a lot of footage of the era, where there's usually an extreme close up of the bass player during the guitar solo and that kind of nonsense. Hats off to the film crew for capturing the magic and doing these guys justice.
One of my favourite bands and it's very good but I'm pretty sure it's been coloured enhanced. Looks a bit like what Peter Jackson's crew did to enhance old Beatles footage in 'Get Back'. But I still love it.
I think Ringo Starr was incharge of the videoing of it.
I was 16, he was my love. We are all gay. like me some New York Dolls too.
@@seltaeb9691 Yup he directed the whole thing including all of the off stage antics from the movie.
You got something against Bass players ?
How the heck you doing. Born in 58. Rock on dude!
Thanks Mark you enriched my youth.
Remember kids... Don't skip the sound check.
I am so happy to see this performance. T. Rex one of the greatest rock bands of all time.
What a colourful character! No sound like the sound of T.Rex. Loads of monster tracks! 🎸🔥😎
I was there at this very concert and this video brings back that amazing time. Thank you for posting it so everyone can enjoy a true legend of rock music who is still missed.

Back in the day when rock n roll was pure magic and Marc was the wizard.
his great enthusiasm is infectious. thats what i liked the most of him.
seen them at the tower upperdarby out side philly great thats how old i am 75 must have been 72
I remember watching his TV show as a child. I still keep a little Marc in my heart X
I sounds like Michael Crawford. Better with the good stuff like Ride a White Swan etc.
I was at this concert with my best friend Roddy. Let me tell you, you could not hear a damn word lol cos the screaming was nuts. He was the electric warrior that night.
Sounds as fresh as it was in 72, RIGHT ON
❤
Brilliant memories after watching this superb live recording - I was lucky enough to see T. Rex at Weeley festival in 1971. They were fantastic even though some of the hippies did boo the electric numbers at first. One of my best weekends ever. Marc was a true star and Electric Warrior must be the best album of 1971 in my opinion.
I'm quite envious! Ah, memories. My best friend and I just wore out "Electric Warrior". A suberb LP.
The performance of "Jeepster" @ 8:50 Rocks my World! THIS is who T. REX were at their prime. 👏
Einzigartig und sensationell -seine Stimme, sein Habitus ❗️
Er hat mich als 13 jähriger mit seinem wundervollen Songs erfreut. Danke Marc❗️☺️👻
The hair, the satin pants and blazer, the voice. Oh yeah. Every bit the rockstar. RIP Bang a Gong
Was für eine schillernde Persönlichkeit der Herr Marc Bolan. Ein toller, talentierter Musiker. Wunderbar. So stellt man sich einen Künstler vor.
Oct. 8, 1972, Arlington TX, i was fortunate to have seen T-Rex play. One of the best concerts i have ever seen. I can only imagine if Bolan hadn't died so early..a true pioneer of glam rock, but back then it was just rock.
I was 14 at that time. Many of thier posters sticked on my bed room wall. 50 years later I just how their actual band look like. Thank you T Rex.
special mention for the percussion section-Mickey Finn and Bill Legend are on fire 🔥🔥🔥
Deep in my heart, there's a house that could hold just about all of you ❤
