  • Learn how to correctly set up the trigger settings in the DTX-PRO Module.
The DTX8 and DTX6 series comes equipped with the DTX-PRO module that possesses the same tone generator as the DTX-PROX module. The DTX-PRO features real sounds and real sampled room ambience recorded in world-renowned studios, KIT MODIFIER knobs that inspire creativity, and hardware that is sturdy and easy to use. This new standard DTX captures the very essence of the flagship model.
The DTX8 series lets drummers choose between two head materials according to their personal preference, for an optimum response when playing. A choice between the original Yamaha TCS (Textured Cellular Silicone) pads or mesh pads with two-ply heads made by Remo.
The DTX6 Series is equipped with the original Yamaha TCS (Textured Cellular Silicone) heads providing unparalleled levels of feel and quietness.

I have had a few months to work with my DTX6KX now and get some production in as I dig deeper into fine tuning of the module to achieve more of what I want from it. Sorting thru the navigation maze each day I get a little more familiar with the workings. Since I have no experience with other E-drum sets I'll hold my criticism of it's short comings. I just want to focus on a current issue that is absolutely causing me insanity. I am currently working on a fairly large production tune that has a wide spectrum of drum parts. I'm satisfied with the pad tones and the snare tone is where I want it. Playing the entire kit is nice and full, but here's where the problem lies. There are four verses to this song and the drum parts written for the verses are played snare & bass drum only in a military-marching band type arrangement and it sounds great. But as simplistic as the snare parts are, they are fairly intricate to the part and the song. Here's my problem...as these parts transition in & out of the verses they go from tap notes to buzz rolls to 32nd straight rolls and so forth. Somewhere within the gain and velocity settings I can get a decent tap note/buzz roll result but when the part transitions dynamically into the straight roll that's where the problem is. The straight roll is played with more power and the notes become a non-distinguishable mess. In using different setting combinations I can get decent straight roll, but that setting then is not conducive to the more subtle tap & buzz roll notes. I would like to think there is a setting within this module that will allow me to achieve this and that I just haven't stumbled onto it yet. I have some user programs I'm really happy with, so I'm not real excited about doing a reset. Otherwise...I'm open for any suggestions. That is at the top of my list...but there is another issue that I have come across that I wanted to ask you about. The snare pad is suppose to have two separate settings, Head & Rim. But I have not been able to get separation in either volume or actual head/rim range. Any thoughts here?

Can you adjust the gain of the outer rim zone on the ride or just the entire ride? The outer rim is quiet while the edge and bell are loud.

I've been using the same diy pads on an old roland. I had hoped, with more levels and round robin to get more expression. I followed your steps. I selected the correct pad type (piezo) for all, gain, min. velocity, threshold and curve on the DTX-Pro but they are now much less responsive than the old Roland. To be honest I'm not sure I ever fully grasped all the trigger settings on the Roland but through trial and error ended up acceptable. Would you consider going deeper into the other pad trigger settings? Thanks.

Is it normal for having the gain really high on the tcs pads. I have them around 80ish for gain.

I was wondering if anyone had the dtx-pro module that comes with the dtx8k-m set up and if so, would anyone know how to add a pad that can act as a trigger for the cross stick button? I’ve seen this fine somewhere before but I lost where/how it was done. I know you can add a pad of any type and set a sound for it to trigger as, but someone actually has theirs set to turn on and off the cross stick function button on their module

I'm looking for help if someone could , thank you. I have a dtx-pro module and want to plug in my stereo system. I have R L output at the back. I simply plug this in the R L of my sytem ? with stereo jacks? ... thanks. :)

I thought I saw a way to set up some shortcuts to most used menu settings but now can't find it. Is there a way to set up, for example, a quicker way to get to trigger and instrument settings? Like the Roland "jump to" button. Thanks.

Roland modules 25 years ago had this simple "jump to" button that let you skip multiple menu jumps for selected editing functions. Is there nothing like this on the DTX-Pro?

So I think this means no "jump to" function for DTX-pro. All those menu clicks (whose order I often forget) in the heat of a live gig are a real nuisance. Still wondering if there will be a way to see all my settings on a pc or phones bigger display for easier adjusting? Thanks
