Can be argued that they're the most influential hip-hop group in history
100%
The greatest sound of all time. Total legends. I first saw them in 87. And yet - even now, see them play, and Chuck will still talk to you like a friend after the show. Absolute class.
Yes, I totally feel The Prodigy was the greatest sound of all time.
Ppl should listen to Chuck D more often, he's so full of knowledge. Thanks PE u change my life
*changed
ONE OF GREATEST MOST POWERFUL RAP GROUPS FOREVER NOTHING BUT LOVE AND RESPECT FOR PUBLIC ENEMY.
Racist AF...FACTS
Yup.
THEY ALL SOLD THEIR SOULS TO THE devil
Chuck would melt you when he rapped in the room especially the “get wicked” lines. His voice is so smooth!
Chuck D is the voice of God. So authoritative. Even when the message gets confused, he still sounds like an absolute master.
Amen!
Amen!
The greatest group of ALL time, the greatest group of OUR time!!!
While growing up on Long Island. I had the opportunity to work with Spectrum when Chuck D. was down with them. At the time he called himself Chucky D. Flav wasn't there yet. But, my Dance crew had an opportunity to through a member of their crew to do some showcases with them way before Public Enemy. By 82 ,83 they were doing many shows around the neighborhood. Chuck used to rap in between their shows. I always loved his Voice. I was wondering if he was going to produce a record. Hank SHOCK Lee all of them was there Professor Griff was there too. Flav was not there. At the end of 86 I started hearing on WBAU Public Enemy Number 1. When they became successful. Didn't surprise me. Chuck struck me always before PE era as someone who was stable. I remember going to a Club on Strong Island where they used to run. Eddie Murphy walked in one night. He knew Chuck D. because he grew up with him on Roosevelt Long Island this was back in 83. There are people who are stellar way before the world catches up. Once Flav joined Chuck, he was conducive to the missing link. He amplified Chuck's oice to the next level. The rest is History.
Flav and Chuck are family to me. Shamello Durant was my best friend. 510 family.I got to tour the world with PE and got to become a part of my favorite group who I got fired from my first job when I was 16 to go see. I got to be on the rock n roll hall of fame dvd 📀 with my brothers. It has been the best thing I’ve ever done in life. I love them and I’m thankful everyday for them.Brother Mike Griff Pop DJ Lord E Brother James Malik Gaye etc etc they let me live my dream.Best group ever and my love for everyone is unconditional. Move as a team.
Wow...
Although I'm not a hip-hop fan I have so much respect, love and admiration for Public Enemy. By far the greatest and realist politicians to ever perform and speak to millions.
The ONLY hip hop act that has ever given me the visceral thrill of the best rock n' roll bands. It's not even close.
Their shows and performances were like Rock Bands just crazy.and energetic yet rebellious. 💪🏿❤️😊
Flavor is gifted and low-key about it. Humbleness to the max! Love it!
I remember being a young white dude hearing P.E.’s "Fear of a Black Planet" and thinking this was the soundtrack of the apocalypse! At the same time I couldn’t believe the textures of music layered over each other and the overall mood, insight and flow of the record. Those records took you on a journey from track to track. I can go on and on here but just know P.E. and the Bomb Squad set a bar that STILL hasn’t been equaled since!
According to an retrospective review of the song for AllMusic, John Bush said that the song was "arguably the production peak of the Bomb Squad and one of Chuck D.'s best rapping performances ever", and stated that "none of [Public Enemy's] tracks were more musically incendiary than 'Welcome to the Terrordome'. British journalist Garry Mulholland included the song in his book This Is Uncool: The 500 Greatest Singles Since Punk and Disco, describing the song's music as being "based on a boiling, undulating bluesy shudder that isn't even recognizable as a riff" and the lyrics as "the best and most complex slew of metaphors and similes that Chuck ever wrote".
Fantastic description by that critic.
Three personalities of public enemy
Chuck was the voice
Flavor was the star 🌟
Griff was knowledgeable
Best band the world has ever seen
Public Enemy is a Legend. Biggest Group of all time. Brazillians love P.E. Greeting from Brazil.
Chuck D! the world needs more PE
Nice to see Chuck bigging up Roots Manuva on Westwood.
Funny around the 48 minute mark where they are talking about Flava Flav coming out to songs. I remember a concert in Dallas/Grand Prairie when they were there with Ice Cube and WC. Public Enemy was going off and people were thinking Flav wasn't there, but we were still rocking. They were doing Rebel Without A Pause and toward the middle of the song, he comes flying on stage off a speaker or something doing his dance/rapping and the fucking crowd goes CRAZY!!!! One of the best moments ever of any concert I've been to.
l've seen them live in Sydney twice ❤ best group, lyrics, rhymes, presence ❤ Even Chuck asked me to lntroduce 'Don't believe the Hyde' At their 2nd concert security lifted me up on stage and got to dance with these homies ❤ My neighbours know every track to Nation of Millions to Hold us back. 30 years l been listening to PE and it never gets old 🔥🔥🔥
"Elvis was a hero to most" the most iconic line in hip hop history!!!!!!!!
KRS-ONE, Ice Cube and Chuck D in the same picture... man, that image has an INCREDIBLE POWER.
hi... when i bought their 2007 classic "how you sell soul....", it came with a 60min dvd. about halfway through, we see chuck & cube chatting. same room, cube with the same shirt. there's a knock on the door, it's KRS. he sees chuck & cube together, pauses, then says, "yes. yyeeeessss. YYEEEEEESSSSS", while slowly nodding & smiling. it was hilarious.
Iconic.
What I love about P.E.is that they are far from the typical," Whate man bad" rap group and instead they are a, look in the mirror, community critical, thinking man's rap group. Some of the raps were tough for the community to accept but they all had some element of truth to them. Like they say you can't point a finger at someone else without 4 pointing back at you. P.E. one of the only groups to ask, " What are you doing for yourself?".
The most influential HIP HOP RAPPER of ALL time
So good ❤
i went to Roosevelt HS, at any given time you would see Eddie standing in the hallway, gerald from FULL FORCE, Arron hall from GUY, Gabby cassus from New jersey drive Gary frith new jack city steve white comedian the list goes on...79 to 82
No gangsta shit about feeling sorry for yourself because you got caught selling smack to high school students.. Nah.. hard core hiphop punk about thinking and doing something.
I can respect that.
Where does the "Controller of Time" get those giant clock/necklaces ? I tend to be late for appointments, and was thinking if I wear one of those, maybe it would help.
DJ Jeffries Public Enemy was a combination of TRUTH. Chuck D was the lead voice rapper, lyrics, Flavor Flav was yes the clock star of PE, Voice rapper and lyrics, Prof. Griff was Minister of Info and all sort of controversial HYPES!. And last Terminator X, PE DJAY 4ever, luv u bro. Forgot him best DJ TX! 2022
DJ Johnny Juice Rosado was a better DJ, he knew how to make more advanced scratches compared to TX. Check out the official PE book.
dont believe the hype was different from anything ever created it was funky and unapologetic
1 for the chiza
2 for the flow
3 to get the heads ready
Go cat go!
Go cat go!
Thanks
NOW you get it
I don't ever remember back in the day seeing Grif taking part in their live show as an MC. Didn't he used to do what the other 1WS did, and nothing more? Doing drills, acting as security, certainly never getting on the mic..... Is it me, or is Grif as HC & a hype-man a new role for him????
"Professor Griff was a rapper also, professor Griff dropped a solo album, way before flavor Flav, even made a solo song, professor Griff album was called 'Pawns of the game...that album came out in the 90s"🤷🏾♂️
@@ebkdoggmouthrenegade1828 I can't believe that for all the years I've been a public enemy fan and somehow had absolutely no clue about any of those boots of history you described
Grif was on before, flav hyped it up seeing the s1s was the warm up this Griff
@@ebkdoggmouthrenegade1828 Props to LUKE for giving Griff a deal when many others had turned their backs on Griff.
Chuck D once told that they often played their created beats to their girls and if they didn´t like it at all that was then basically the approvel to have created the right beat...
I love that statement.
I work for Chuck D. PE are the greatest!
I didn't realize they were actual militant revolutionaries, that's awesome 🚩
First time I visited the east coast, First rap group I heard was P.E. o was hooked. They were way ahead of there time in there time. Bass, how low can you go.

The one the only....Public Enemy😤
If only
X clan could have been the next
Public enemy
They were the most influential groups to me. And just watching it today it says what's happening today. But isn't that when God was gonna be rapper on the hip hop tracks and look now he is exposing all that they have done and all they are.. Have not had the time to read the 2025 project by the heritage foundation by I here its like 400 pages of there plans .God is taking 144000 with him i think he has picked 1 of each those 144000 down here that were made of love for We have master music and mixing not to mention the rap.we know the history of our ancestors and heritage they are about money we are about unity world wide .not to mention the dealer the killer and the dope dealers there a history of that too.

Hmm, ok then.
Yes I want revolution, but I sure as hell don't want a Islamic revolution instead of a poor and working class people's revolution, instead of a democratizing socialist revolution. All respect to Chuck D and Public Enemy.
They use motion to manipulate mental emotions that they acquired with the turntables and microphones as they move.
