the respect that hank williams junior shows here by turning his guitar upside down and just listening, and the way he places his hand on shooters shoulder at the end ,just shows to me what A MAN hank jr is
I absolutely agree. Hank Jr. loved Waylon, who was not only Hank’s mentor, but good friend. When Hank was just starting out in the music business, Waylon asked Hank’s mother if he could take Hank on the road with him. This gave Hank his big break.
Hey Shooter... I’m one of the millions of fans that truly appreciated your father.. With that being stated.... Thank You for being your own man and not your father... You like your father have a style like nobody else , and like your father ... You can take a song and make it your own. I’m old school country but I can damn sure listen to you as well and praise you just like I did for your father.. It takes a man to make music, music doesn’t make the man... Dedication and having faith does that..
You can see Ol' Hank's mind is wandering back to the many good times him and Waylon had as best friends. You can also see the love he has for Shooter and Jessi during these sessions. Not many times do you see Bocephus emotional like that....but he always said that Waymore was like a brother to him.
Shooter's version takes my breath away everytime! So much so, that I decided if I ever get married, I want Shooter's version to be my first dance with my husband. Such an emotional song. You go, Shooter. You're daddy is so proud, his spirit shines right through you when you preform this!
That'd be great but not sure it's appropriate for a wedding. Kinda like Merle's Silver Wings. Never understood why people have breakup songs at their wedding
Wow, Shooter. You really nailed this song. Its yours now.You own it probably becuase you understand exactly where Wayon was coming from when he sang it.
Shooter is coming into his own! Waylon would be so proud, as I’m sure is Jessi. He told Shooter to do his own thing musically & not be Waylon Jr playing his dads songs over & over! Beautiful cover Shooter!
I like how Jr just sat there and let the young guns play it out. Great sound, awesome group of guys and always nice to see that real country music hasn't died
damn waylon wouldve been proud of that. seeing hank drift back in time made me think back to when id sing my dad his favorite songs on my guitar. just wish i could get those years back. didnt know how special those times were till they were gone R.I.P Wayne Reed sr. 1961-2001
Beautiful song I remember when Waylon Jennings came to Dekalb College years ago and brought Shooter Jennings on stage he was just a baby he was proud of him*******
Shooter Jennings is awesome Best song ever , Dam right ur dad would be proud! I love all ur music n way better then a lot of makeshift county music that’s on the radio today
Waylon, I imagine was smiling down on his boy shooter this night... surrounded by old friends and fans remembering such a special man. And shooter did a beautiful job. Daddy would be proud
Although Shooter does a beautiful job on this song and I like his music, for me nothing beats Waylon.I have been a fan of his music since I was 5 or 6 years old. I'm in my 50's now. Beautiful song, miss you Waylon.❤❤❤
Waylon also had two older boys with his first wife: Buddy (named after Buddy Holly) and Terry. Terry wrote a very loving book about his father in 2017. Unfortunately, Terry passed away earlier this year. Waylon also had four daughters, two of whom died of cancer shortly after Waylon died.
For the rest of my life I'll give Shooter Jennings a listen. This is the first song that caught my attention so I'll be looking for more. I might not love it all but then few artists get me with every tune. Looking forward to hearing this fine young man working his craft.
I close my eyes every time I hear this and I'll be damned if I don't see Waylon and Shooter singing together. The man has been blessed with his daddies talent.
That was just with Wonderful Shooter I know Waylon smiling down when he heard you sing this. very touching. I'm sure we all felt this in one way or another..
Shooter n Jamey Johnson make a great team , waiting for this corana virus to be over n hope shooter tours with Jamey in the New England area , but that songs gets to me every time ! My father was a big Waylon fan n passed the country music on to me n love true country music artists
Never a huge Hank Jr. fan, prefer his old man, and Waylon is my favorite artist, but the way Jr. sat back and said nothing and let the younger cats do their thing was a pleasant side to a pleasant piece of music.
Shooter does it great! Waylon also stated that Dreamin My Dreams was his favorite.... I reckon its impossible to have 1 favorite when you nail a couple hundred hits
Waylon said Belle of the Ball was his favorite song that he wrote himself. He has also said, as you noted, that Dreaming My Dreams was his favorite song that he ever recorded. But, the songs are in two different categories because he didn't write the latter; Dreams was penned by Allen Reynolds. That's the distinction.
Can I say something real quick? Ummm, he left the house for a minute...some of you listen an never know,,,an I'd be the first to shake your hands...but for souls like mine...I have to say, this song means a lot to me...I made choices in my life...buried my own 2 yr old son of Ewings Sarcoma cancer, but this song he jammed to as I do today..an the good and the bad I want to remember it all!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just listened to this video clip again. The cello, Reggie Young's guitar back up. The longer Shooter sand, he got better and better and just seemed to let go and lose himself in the song. I was also thinking about the full circle of Waylon singing with Hank Jr. and now Hank Jr. singing with Shooter.
This is a song better left alone. Waylon is my all time favorite. This is one of the songs that had the greatest impact on my dad and me. My dad was an outlaw. I'm a businessman. I can still sing this song just like the 70's version. Should leave this one alone bro. You will never understand the heart in this..
Yep I thought the exact same thing whenever I 1st heard shooter trying to cover his dad's song.... like you said, he will never completely understand the true feeling of this song, he will never get what this song is truly about and idk he can pretend that he knows but he really does not have a clue of what waylon jennings was going through at the time waylon wrote this song the feelings waylon was putting in writing this song the emotion its entirely waylon's song and nobody needs to ever try to cover it, not even his son shooter, should have just left this song alone, left it all to his dad..... and if you watch the whole tribute video there is 1 point of the video where hank jr is just singing a waylon tune just 1 right after the other I think jr was doing a medoly of different waylon songs and then after hank done like 2 or 3 hank jr turns to shooter more less wanting and waiting for shooter to start a medoly of his dad's songs and shooter looks up, he looks at hank then looks at jamey johnson like he was nervous or something and didn't know any of his dad's songs... I mean wtf man are you serious right now are you freakin kidding me that is fucking ridiculous dude... it's really not funny it's really embarrassing for hank jr, his mom Jessie and to his dad waylon and to all of the true fans of the original "outlaw" of country music and that would be Waylon Jennings! All I'm saying is you would think that shooter would know not just a couple or not just a few of his dad's stuff but you really would like to think that shooter jennings would know alot, I mean several, like at least 10 or so of his dad waylon's songs, and shooter should not have had a problem with running through a medoly doing a couple of waylon's songs I mean waylon jennings was/is your damn daddy dude damn it shooter learn some of your dad's songs man and leave "Belle of The Ball" alone please and thank you... that's all I've got to say about this, I wasn't even really as upset about shooter trying to do this cover of an amazing written song, wrote by his dad waylon but when he was put on the stop by hank jr to do a medoly of his dad's own songs, shooter just sat there puzzled and clueless 😳 🙄 wtf I mean he couldn't even think of 1 song of the top of his head like come on shooter that is not a good look for you when you can't think of 1 song that is bad really really bad, it's a shame that you have a dad that was and always will be a freakin legend and you don't know not 1 damn song of his, damn shooter I think you need to go home and listen to some of your dad's songs and learn them if your gonna try to get in front of a crowd and perform man that's all I'm trying to say about it, just my opinion though
I know it's hard to do a set without a board setup, but Shooter is having a hard time holding a note. "Unplugged" is not always as pristine as some other types of concerts or shows however with all these guys and their backgrounds, you would expect it to be pretty off the cuff. Wish I could have been there!
Wish I could find Shooter & his sister doing a 'tribute' to their father. What a performance that was! Every now and then, the T.V. can be useful.(not often)
I see all these people talking shit about shooter, but then it's pretty easy to sit and talk shit anonymously from behind a computer screen. Remind me again how many albums yall have cut?
Listen man I think it's all that needs to be sad not knowing the words to his dad songs. He doesn't mind using that last name to get himself on stage no one said he had to like it but he should respect it. He could have at least found out the kind of man that his father was, the man that put him into the position to take advantage of some really good opportunities in life.
We all have our opinions about anything and everything. No one is going to agree about everything. Why do I get the distinct impression that Waylon seems to be in somebody's way? Waylon passed away. His "Legacy" did not. His fans did not.
Outstanding cover/tribute. This and “If you see me getting smaller” are my favorite Waylon songs. Who are the musicians if anyone knows? Besides Hank jr of course.
it's all a matter of opinion. we are all individuals with individual likes and dislikes. the way i see it, just my opinion, is like my grandma told me, "if you can't say something good, don't say anything at all". hope you all have a fantabulous day!!!!!
Waylon Jennings is proud of his son. I love both versions. But this sends chills through me
the respect that hank williams junior shows here by turning his guitar upside down and just listening, and the way he places his hand on shooters shoulder at the end ,just shows to me what A MAN hank jr is
My exact thoughts.
I absolutely agree. Hank Jr. loved Waylon, who was not only Hank’s mentor, but good friend. When Hank was just starting out in the music business, Waylon asked Hank’s mother if he could take Hank on the road with him. This gave Hank his big break.
A son's tribute..... and a friend's respect... I could only hope as much when I'm gone. RIP Waylon. Miss you.......
This must be bittersweet for Jessi looking on with her son singing Waylon's song. Beautiful!
Hey Shooter...
I’m one of the millions of fans that truly appreciated your father..
With that being stated....
Thank You for being your own man and not your father...
You like your father have a style like nobody else , and like your father ...

I’m old school country but I can damn sure listen to you as well and praise you just like I did for your father..
It takes a man to make music, music doesn’t make the man...

Beautiful comment!
You can see Ol' Hank's mind is wandering back to the many good times him and Waylon had as best friends. You can also see the love he has for Shooter and Jessi during these sessions. Not many times do you see Bocephus emotional like that....but he always said that Waymore was like a brother to him.

He’s thee most underrated country musician, in my opinion
I agree with you both. Nothing more needs to be said.
That'd be great but not sure it's appropriate for a wedding. Kinda like Merle's Silver Wings. Never understood why people have breakup songs at their wedding
Beautiful Shooter.
Wow, Shooter. You really nailed this song. Its yours now.You own it probably becuase you understand exactly where Wayon was coming from when he sang it.
Your dad wrote one hell of a song it inspired me man shooter keep it real love from scotland
Reggie Young... one of the best ever to pick up the guitar.
I Really love this shit...
Real country music makes you grab a drink and hits you in the heart
One of the most underrated singers, shooter is amazing,. Just let him play and do his thing the music will be great...
damn waylon wouldve been proud of that. seeing hank drift back in time made me think back to when id sing my dad his favorite songs on my guitar. just wish i could get those years back. didnt know how special those times were till they were gone R.I.P Wayne Reed sr. 1961-2001
I love listening to shooter. Yes some songs he sings better than others but he sings with such emotion.
Beautiful song I remember when Waylon Jennings came to Dekalb College years ago and brought Shooter Jennings on stage he was just a baby he was proud of him*******
What a great song , and all of the talent sitting in with him , you all are so off the chain , love you all !!!!
Absolutely amazing!!! One of my most favorite songs!
beautiful song Shooter
Shooter Jennings is awesome Best song ever , Dam right ur dad would be proud! I love all ur music n way better then a lot of makeshift county music that’s on the radio today
Waylon, I imagine was smiling down on his boy shooter this night... surrounded by old friends and fans remembering such a special man. And shooter did a beautiful job. Daddy would be proud
what a lovely arrangement
Father and son are both alike 🎉😅 faces + beautiful voice , shooter is the future Waylon Jennings senior , love them both .
love this arrangement, the strings in back really set it off, and I think shooter did a good job paying tribute to his pop
Right on Shooter it's kool to hear you talking about your DaD and i could see you deep you dug to sing this song..
Wow - that was something...the spirit of Waylon lives on!
Although Shooter does a beautiful job on this song and I like his music, for me nothing beats Waylon.I have been a fan of his music since I was 5 or 6 years old. I'm in my 50's now. Beautiful song, miss you Waylon.❤❤❤
Only tonight I learn Waylon has a son Shooter ! A truly great singer and nail this song. Daddy is smiling as we watch him sing.

Shooter Jennings Lukas Nelson Down by the river great song
R.i.P Waylon, you were the Man. Continuing living Dads legacy Shooter.
I love ❤️ this version of shooter 🎉
I close my eyes every time I hear this and I'll be damned if I don't see Waylon and Shooter singing together. The man has been blessed with his daddies talent.
That was just with Wonderful Shooter
I know Waylon smiling down when he heard you sing this.
very touching. I'm sure we all felt this in one way or another..
Thank you for this very touching tribute…
Shooter Jennings,, what can I say,,, you're the son of Waylon & Jessi,,,I love them and I love you! Your music is great and I love your sound💕
Straight from the hip Shooter!......Just Great and what a tribute to Waylon!
Shooter n Jamey Johnson make a great team , waiting for this corana virus to be over n hope shooter tours with Jamey in the New England area , but that songs gets to me every time ! My father was a big Waylon fan n passed the country music on to me n love true country music artists
Loved Shooter's take on Waylon's beloved song !!!
This is wonderful ensemble I love it
Shooter sings an incredible hook on his nephew Struggle's song "Another place and Another time
Never a huge Hank Jr. fan, prefer his old man, and Waylon is my favorite artist, but the way Jr. sat back and said nothing and let the younger cats do their thing was a pleasant side to a pleasant piece of music.
Best thing and probably the hardest thing Shooter has ever done... excellent
"Dreaming My Dreams With You" was written by Allen Reynolds
Straight from the heart.
That brought tears to my eyes
I liked it. Shooter has his own sentiment about his Dad.
Love from Italy
Can I say something real quick? I love him doing this one the best. So beautiful. God bless. That was an incredible tribute album.
Mesmerizing. So much love and respect for Waylon from this group of people. Very touching.
thanks for that shooter......... amazing
At times he sounds like waylon.Shooter is a great singer just like his Dad And Mom.
Ole’ George asked it, and Jamey and Shooter answered, “We’ll fill their shoes”.
We love ya Shooter
This is beatiful l love this!
It was Ralph Mooney play in the steel guitar like nobody else could that really made Waylon's music hotter than a firecracker
Great, great job shooter. Also great guitar playing. Hank clearly got emotional.
I love you’re voice youre daddy’s profunda of u love u shooter!

WOW!!!....and that cello....beautiful.
My comments all over internet rest stops truck stops etc. Steve was fascinated by that video
Look at sweet hank smiling!

Long light
Thank you lord for the heart sung country
I know it's hard to do a set without a board setup, but Shooter is having a hard time holding a note. Nice job shooter, great voice, style
Wish I could find Shooter & his sister doing a 'tribute' to their father. What a performance that was! Every now and then, the T.V. can be useful.(not often)
Which sister? Shooter had four half sisters. Two died shortly after Waylon.
I see all these people talking shit about shooter, but then it's pretty easy to sit and talk shit anonymously from behind a computer screen. Remind me again how many albums yall have cut?
Listen man I think it's all that needs to be sad not knowing the words to his dad songs. That was incredible!
Crackling in my right ear
Love this song x
We all have our opinions about anything and everything. No one is going to agree about everything. Why do I get the distinct impression that Waylon seems to be in somebody's way? Waylon passed away. His "Legacy" did not. His fans did not.
This is good. Youre getting better and better. Thanks.
Love it and the story you didn't have to share!🌹💙
😡There's some real "WINNERS" leaving comments on here! (BLESS THEIR HEARTS)
Love Shooter!
Good f'n job Shooter!
That is Jessi Colter, Waylon's widow and Shooter'r mother at the piano. She is a famous singer herself
Outstanding cover/tribute. This and “If you see me getting smaller” are my favorite Waylon songs. Who are the musicians if anyone knows? Besides Hank jr of course.
Jamey johnson(left), and his son, shooter Jennings(middle)
Laughed my ass off when you showed up on the Angry Grandpa pay show.
Great song here
I’ll never forget you
Great job shooter
Luv this
it's all a matter of opinion. we are all individuals with individual likes and dislikes. the way i see it, just my opinion, is like my grandma told me, "if you can't say something good, don't say anything at all". hope you all have a fantabulous day!!!!!
People to this day long for a good steel guitar player and the sound like Ralph Mooney
