It is certainly difficult to create a new genre ...but it might even be harder to resurrect a dead one. Here's a kid (age of my children) making me listen and love music I would have never listened to because of his incredible voice ... but more importantly ... how much soul he sings into it..
Hey man just wanted to tell you that this genre is far from dead, check out Benjamin Todd, Tyler Childers and John Morland, you want be disappointed..but yeah Colter Wall is awesome...
@@robertpope984 I'm familiar with Tyler Childers and one of my favorite young country groups is "Turnpike Troubadours"... so young country is far from dead. But when Colter covers a song, he covers songs from the 1930's, 40's, 50's and 60's. Songs that NOBODY listens to... until he covers them. Old cowboy tunes. When he writes, he write old country... like Cash and Nelson. So he is truly taking a young generation back to a genre and time long forgotten. Who does that? Being on the cutting edge is one thing, but taking people back to a time (30's, 40's)... that no one even knows about... that's even more interesting. And he does it with soul.
This is what Jhonny, Merle, Hank, Waylon, Willie,George and all them boys would love to see coming. Not what they are trying to pass off as country singers today. This is solid.
It's sad he can't have all of his music on his own RUclips channel (I understand why he can't obviously) BUT!! he has so much music that can be easily missed. I have been following this dude for well over a year and I am still finding music on here I have never seen before and every song I enjoy and they all amaze me just as much as the last. You're unbelievable Mr Wall please keep doing you
I got my ticket to see Colter in OKC ...at a small venue. An old movie theater .The balcony..Im so happy there is no one I would rather see .and from what I hear hes great at his shows ....

Colter Wall is one of the artists who should be on Austin City Limits, instead of the crap they have on these days. I used to look forward to watching it on PBS, not anymore. ACL is rarely worth watching now.
But...what if its all true? What if the moon really is made of cheese? Who's to say we aren't meat-beings composed of carbon on a planet full of carbon that inherently creates lots of meat? Its a meat planet!

Absolutely true.
He cares about what he’s singing about. He feels these stories and he believes in them. That’s what makes him such an incredible musician and writer.

Just plain great. I know it's s different style, but there's something in Colter's voice that kind of reminds me of Stan Rogers.

Colter is shaping up to be his generation’s JJ Niles
A great story teller, reminds me of Marty Robbins!
I grew up in the same town as Colter and understand some of his references. His grandfather lived on the same block as my late brother.
