For anyone using a 4mm crochet and 4weight yarn the amount of starting stitches is about 101 hdc for the hood with 41 rows I just guestimated the length visually on where to put the "V stitches" About 2 of the lionbrand pound of love should be enough to get theough this project, although I did my trim in a different color
Thanks! I made the cape using 12 balls of Hobbii tweed dreams and a little less than 6 of universe. I am planning on making one out of another universe yarn and alone without the hood, a collar instead.
@kathleenkonesko ooo... Fantastic. You can post on instagram:- #lucky_platypus1 Facebook:- Lucky Platypus Or email luckyplatypus71@gmail.com Can't wait to see 😀
This has been a really relaxing project so far ❤ I'm using a 5.5m hook, and i was wondering if you could specify in centimeters how far should the Vs be from one another 😊 Also, for anyone wondering, the hood ended up being 91 chains (70cm) by 31 rows (30cm)
Thank you ❤️ Unfortunately I cannot tell you the distance as I do not have the garment any more (I sell my work and this is sold). I have not made this again for a while. It will depend on your yarn and your tension. I always try the garment on periodically to know it is fitting right and add more width if needed. Sorry I can't be of more help.
This video is so simple and was so fun to crochet along to, thank you so much for the simple step by step! beautiful cape. Can't wait to see how mine turns out :)
I know I should do that. I love making the garments but always look horrible in them (I do not have the right body type for them) and have no one else to model them. I sell all my garments (as that is my business) so I can't show you even on myself.
Not sure what you mean. You do the amount of stitches I indicate and then the next stitch in an increase stitch (2 half double crochets in the one stitch - or v stitch - but basically it's an increase). Hope that makes sense.
Great video and amazing project. I spent the better part of the afternoon trying to crochet into the back bump, with one yarn, with double yarns. I just was not having any luck. Anyway to do the second row without going into the bump?
I have not worked out how to put arms in this style of Cape, sorry. When I figure that out I'll do another tutorial with arm holes. Maybe google Cape with arm holes and there might be a RUclipsr who has already solved this problem ☺️🤔
Hi from France! I love thèse kind of capes ❤️. Could I make the “round” of the cape with faux fur? I mean do you think 2 rows of SC with faux fur could work please? Thank you! New sun here! -I love platypus also!! Have a nice evening!! 😘
Hello France!! That would be a fantastic idea. Please send me a photo when you have done. I think that would look amazing. And yes would work with SC. Brilliant idea 👍🏻🥰
@@luckyplatypus oh thank you for your answer!! I’ll try to make one as soon as I got the right yarn!! Have a sunny Sunday!! And thank you for your videos!! 😘🌺❤️ I’m not a new sun but a new sub of course 😁

I’m using a 10 mm hook and I ended up with 53 chains I’m having a little trouble figuring out where to place the v stitches, can someone please help me 😅
You need an even number of stitches to make the pattern work. Next row do a HDC row doing an increase stitch in the middle of the row (26th stitch). Then when starting the cape you will have 54 stitches and work the pattern as 4,7,16,16,7,4 for the v stitches on the first row of the cape and go from there. Hope that helps..
If you want it taller, add more rows. Wider....I would suggest putting 2 stitches in every 3rd or 4th stitch on the first row depending on how wide you want it..

Work rows without increasing until you have the length you require. Happy crocheting 🧶
Thank you

And, I like how you have listed how much yarn is needed in the description ... 😂

I will put that on my to-do list.♥️ It will be a while before I get to it as I have a few other tutorials coming out first.
Hi love the hooded cape . But I am confused on what stitch do you go into before the v stitch. Please help❤ 🙏

Go into the front on the stitch. (The v of the front instead of the bump on the back).
Hope that makes sense.

How many balls of yarn
Right at the beginning in the photos just before I introduce myself I have it listed.😀
9balls brown yarn
4 balls pattern yarn
What were the yarn? 3ply 4ply.. what?
I don't go by ply. I go by hook size. Ie what size hook is listed on the yarn.
Definitely no mention of how much yarn is needed😝
Mentioned on last photo in intro (time stamp 0.21 second). 9 balls brown, 4 balls colour
Listed in Description
She also mentions the meter amounts.
