@luckyplatypus oooo, thanks, but not what I was looking for....seems difficult to find mitten tutorials out here in you tube land. I can sorta find a lot of rushed ones but I would like a quality pair of mittens worth the time, effort and yarn to give as presents. I guess I'll keep looking....

@@alwayslearning9272 The prices have increased so much now that I only buy at the Black Friday sale. It is so disappointing as I do like their yarn. But most is now out of my price range even when on sale such as winter glow. I can't remember what I paid for winter glow back then but I know that even when it is on sale now I can't afford it. Happy for them that they are making money but they will price themselves out of business. I have already reduced how much I buy from them. We'll have to start looking for cheaper places (if there is any???)

For me I don't have the perspective that you do to be able to compare prices with when they started as I've only recently been exploring them and enjoying delving into buying from them, but I found the sale prices over Christmas and January to be quite good. I had first got some tea time for $8.30 but then it went on sale for $7.60 and some colours came back that I hadn't seen before, a lovely white tea with different shades of brown and cream was the highlight that I just had to get!! 😃😍 There was a lovely peppermint iced tea as well, the names really get me too! I got colorina for $3.05 and twister for $6.60 so was really happy with those prices, think they were quite comparable to the good sale prices you can get. I'm glad I grabbed some different colours of the black Friday yarn which I went back and did after seeing the lovely walnut one that you got, and also got curry, ecru and a lovely light grey that had really interesting subtle flecks through it, malange they called it. They were $12.10 a pack but are back to $20 now! My main thing that I'm keeping an eye out for is for the winter glow to be on a better sale, I haven't seen it for less than $20 and that's too high for my budget! Oh speaking of, what does the winter glow feel like in comparison perhaps to a nice soft acrylic like tea time? Is it still soft considering it has a higher wool content? I generally only like a 20% content of wool as I don't like the prickly feel of wool or for it to be itchy, so I wasn't sure how I'd go with the almost 50/50 blend of the winter glow??

@alwayslearning9272 winter glow is such a beautiful yarn and works up with such a beautiful drape. One of my all time favourites. Tea time is becoming a favourite and I just love the colour range and the colours look fantastic made up, but winter glow feels much better. (Just my opinion 😀) The colours you have got just makes me want to buy more. Enjoy your stash and happy crocheting 🧶

@@luckyplatypus Thanks so much for getting back and letting me know about your experience with winter glow, that's very reassuring as I wasn't sure if the wool content would bother me at all and I know you like wool a lot but I don't if it's rough and scratchy so tend to avoid it usually unless it's an 80/20 blend. I have had some of the main colours of the tea time arrive now but haven't used them yet but am really looking forward to doing that, still have some overlapping Christmas gifts that I'm completing and then I can move onto making myself some wearables after that! That's why I've ordered some of the twister yarn as it's an acrylic/cotton blend that I want to make some Spring tops out of. The prices I mentioned above were more out of interest to compare with how you do on black Friday but those sale prices finished yesterday in the January sale, but definitely keep an eye out for those for another time as it was so exciting to see about 5 or 6 new colours that I hadn't seen before with the tea time yarn so I'm so glad that I went in and had another look!! I don't think they are brand new colours but rather numbers that had been skipped over before from unavailability but had since returned, I got very excited but not trying to influence the influencer! :)

As far as I know, they only produce that selection of Black Friday yarn on that years Black Friday sale. I have never found the same one twice. (But I could be wrong🤔☺️)

For the ribbing of neck, single crochet back loop only. For the hood, half double crochet as plain normal stitch (no ribbing, ie not in the back loop). However if you want to rib the hood you can do so. You can do the hood in any stitch you like. I left it plain to make the tutorial very easy . Hope that makes sense and helps.

@leylamyers2493 they are 25g, 100m balls each. Therefore, joining 2 balls together I used 50g balls of 100m each. 500m in total. Hope that makes sense

Going by a yarn chart, as I used a 5.5 hook, this would be a light worsted yarn. You can use a worsted yarn if using the same hook use the same 90 stitch chain. Or chain until it is the size that fits comfortably around the head. Hope that helps.

@@mayakc9981 The yarn does not say. But as you see in the tutorial I use a 5.5mm hook which, if you go by yarn charts, says it is a light worsted yarn. Hope that helps.

You make a turning chain at end of row (1 chain stitch), and go into the first stitch of the row, not the turning chain stitch. Hope that makes sense.

@@takhisisharuki I don't have measurements ATM as do not have any made up for now. However if I did a different yarn I would measure it against the person I am making it for. Do a chain for the neck and see if that is the correct length and go from there. Make the width of neck and measure again to person. And when you get to the hood keep working to the height required. To make the hole for the neck..... you count 40 stitches and put a stitch markers. It can be the 40th or 41st stitch, up to you. I put at the 41st. From the other end count 40 stitches and put a stitch markers the same as you did before. I do it at the 41st stitch. This will now mean in the middle you have, including the marked stitches, 40 stitches remaining. 40 for the shoulder, 40 for the neck, 40 for the other shoulder, total of 120 stitches. Hope that helps and makes sense.

@@virginiaroberts4921 You crochet the back, then one side of the front, then the other side of the front and sew up the sides, then work each arm, then the band around the front. I'm sorry if my explanation is not clear. The way my camera is and the stand makes it hard to film far away. Most people like the close up so they can see how the stitches are created. I try to make it as easy as possible for beginners.
