At the same time we experience this ecstasy, we are also having the agony of dealing with insurance companies that are blocking payments and heading down legal paths. Not only does this increase costs directly but any chance of any payout has the potential to be delayed for a LONG time... We are applying legal pressure as the matter seems relatively simple on the surface but it raises concerns about underlying issues and doubt about how this will be resolved...
We share how we handle the bad stuff so it does not infiltrate or infect the good parts of our lives. It is possible to have extreme happiness and extreme unhappiness simultaneously but the key is to ensure that you live with the feelings from the good side of your life and not the terrible side... So happy to see you both on your new boat! Lots of smiles and tears. I saw a quote a few years ago and it was this: When things don’t way the way you wanted, shout ‘plot twist’ and move on!! I have just had the privilege of sailing a Catana 42 from La Rochelle to the UK over the last week. 350 more miles of cat sailing experience and I loved it! Cold wind at times but the sea was mostly calm and even though we had to motor a lot, it was still a great trip. Much love to you both. The Leopard 45 looks amazing. Can’t wait for a summer of Expedition Barefoot videos! ❤️🦶Xxx

Barefoot Doctors Sailing yes I love sailing. With a cat you have the best of both worlds. You can sail and you can motor and with two motors, hopefully always one is working!! I must say I am falling in love with Leopards! The 42 has the upper seating that I love… better work out how to sell more children’s books so I can afford one!!! 🤦♂️

I discovered your channel few weeks ago when we signed for a Leopard 45, but with Sunsail, a SS454 who will be based in Croatia. Unfortunately, we were not able to meet you during the boat show because my wife and I were near Marseille attending a skipper training course the all week.
However, you certainly meet my parents and their friends during the party. They told me that the champagne was flowing afloat...
I am really supporting you during those stressful moments. You are struggling with your insurance, while I have lots of difficulties to retreive my money in time from the bank to pay the boat before the 30 April deadline... We had to come and meet the staff in the boat show on Saturday to sign some last documents in urgency. We were exhauted after this sailing week. And this before going back home, driving with the horrible weather this.
We did not have the chance to see you, you were probably gone already....
Let's see if we will meet one day......
Sorry to have missed you! We were there till the end of the show and put some personal gear on the boat and are driving to St Raphael to collect the boat today for May 4th handover. I presume Sunsail organise for your boat to get to Croatia or will it be in St Raphael too? After we collect the boat we will go to the Cannes film festival and then head along the coast and down Italy.. If you are around, catch up with us!

Oh, what a pittty. We were also really stressed at that moment with finalizing the documents...
Sunsail will send our boat by sea to Croatia with a professional skipper. And unfortunately, we will not have the chance to see her quickly. We are planning to go to the Bahamas and the French Polynesia in August - September first... We are still working, so Sunsail was the best option for us to sail all over the world.
However we will be near Nice beginning of August. I will keep following your videos and see if we will be nearby at that time....😉

Phillisophically speaking, I read in a book the words,Let there be light. Light is knowledge,just my interpretation. All the knowledge gained in your recent experience has surely pushed the darkness aside.
Practically thinking, as we get older gravity and The Mother causes us to get slightly shorter in stature. The 45 could possibly be a better fit than the 50 ? Assuming you guys are over 35 years of age. I love this channel.

That's nice you are actually on your new boat checking it out but that insurance company wow I can't believe that's happening to you I would file a $5 million lawsuit against them because that is not right that insurance company you're with must be a scam they do on people I hope I'm wrong. Absolutely BRAD3000.H2 we will in some way or another. Right now we are bound by a law to protect people until proven other wise. And as for insurance their business is also protected against a slander law that keep people from naming names that may harm their business . But the truth alway finds a way out in the end…… right?

Wonderful to see the joy on your faces seeing your new boat, let's hope you get to keep it! If your insurance company doesn't pay your claim, they certainly won't pay for the other boat and other claims of personal injury etc. They'll all be coming for you, good luck!
Yes, the implications are significant but at least the Leopard 45 guys got their insurance paid but they have other losses beyond their cover (like everyone). It seems that we are doing the argy bargy with lawyers and the insurance companies....

I can't even imagine how tough it must be. I've been following you for awhile. Your previous boat was my dream. Particularly with all the extras you put onto it. That thing was a unicorn. I never expected to see its equal. This may sound bad, but if something like that had to happen, kinda glad it happened to you guys because of your disposition and life circumstances are allowing you to move forward with a sunny 🌞 and positive outlook... keep smiling 😃.

Hi, guys. It's great to see that you have sprung a new replacement boat out of the demand curve!
Re the insurance company dragging their feet, it wouldn't surprise me to hear down the track that they offer you a discounted settlement somewhere around the new purchase settlement date, typical of the behaviour of insurance companies; after all, their business model is predicated on optimal premium income projections and investment, not honourably defined payout losses.
However, I gather from what you intimated in the video that you have arranged some sort of bridging capacity thus removing any leverage that the insurers might think that they have in the matter. As I suggested at the outset, and again typical of the way business is conducted these days, the end result will likely be resolved by legal machinations, so be prepared to have deep pockets and not give away too much publicly as to your real capacity...unless of course it is 'unlimited'.

And as you say, the legal processes are expensive but with the amount at stake, we have no option and yes, the insurance may have been hoping we were so desperate that we would accept a dramatically reduced payout and would not fight.

Hi GB Sailing no actually this event was only a few days ago and leopard sailed the boat to St Raphael , clean it up then we get it on the 4 th May. Soooo stilll waiting! Next week we will only have had the boat a day or two when we release the next vid. So should be a good one also!

I absolutely love the coffee colors and your new accessories are gonna be perfect for that splash of color. 🥰 Yes, the 50 was bigger but frankly I love this 45. She has plenty of room and so comfortable for seating guests. I hope the insurers pay out for the delay, uncertainty, costs, interest since the claim. I think withing 30 days is a reasonable time to have expected payment. The insurer should be requiring the other parties to pay the additional amounts. Hope the handover goes well!

I know it’s difficult, but just start threatening that if they still procrastinate you’ll name and shame the insurance company. It makes me sick that they dont actually give a s..t about their customer! The new boat is beautiful, enjoy her, your strength of character are way beyond the resolve of 99% of people.

Well done you guys... 🙏, hey Eli something I learnt/experienced/reflected on and agreed with recently - I was watching a "lecture" and the concept of deja vu was mentioned from a couple of young guys to an older guy - and the older guy reflected for a moment and said "you know, as I've gotten older my deja vu experiences have abated" - when I thought about you know..., I had to agree... 🙂... just a weird moment...
Hey Stephen, Eli has not had less deja vus as she has got older but there are less at times of over work and dealing with external stresses it reduces. It seems to be that a distracted brain reduces the experience but so far age does not seem to have affected Eli...

What would be the most interesting point here--- does that company have a name? There are thousands of sailors , who utterly want to know which company to trust or better not to. Are there any matters in your contract we should know to avoid such a situation? Are you in any way hindered or prohibited to name the company???? Good luck for you and as we say in Germany: " Always a handspan water under your keel"!

No worries, we are focussing on manifesting the right outcome...
We are going through something similar (just a much smaller scale), just no point in stressing out over things that are out of your control. Congrats on the new boat and I'm sure the other thing will work out at some point.
