I watched about half of both Memphis and OKC’s games, and SGA looked like the better player. Ja’s team is built perfectly around him. SGA on the other hand is playing with the worst supporting cast in the league, was the 2nd most double teamed player in the league, and has the worst spacing in the league, and still managed to do what he did. Probably the most underrated player I’ve seen in this generation. He has top 5 potential imo.
Memphis and Dallas both have the same problem: big time NBA players would rather be a Laker or to a much lesser extent a Celtic or go to Chicago or New York or the Clippers because of the city itself or the legacy of the franchise. Cuban has been trying to get free agents and largely failing since Dirk. The Warriors are only possible bc they draft insanely well. Durant went there for three years and dipped... to New York.
If you look at the league now, stars are literally on every other team. I think now it’s more of a shift of who you rather play for rather then what city would you rather play for. When the Warriors were playing Memphis in the playoffs, the Warriors had only played just a few minutes together in this lineup for the entire season due to waiting for Klay to come back from injury and dealing with other injuries. The more I think about it, the more it becomes obvious that the Warriors were still tuning things during the Memphis series. The Warriors weren't playing their best basketball yet. Memphis is not as great of a threat as some people think. The Warriors got better as they advanced through each round. The Warriors team that ended the Finals would have made much easier work of Memphis.

Warriors have complimented Memphis a lot and they have also said with and without Ja was like playing two different teams and they got caught by surprise in Game 5 and they mailed it in by the half. They probably figured out the Grizzlies with Ja by game 3,hence their confidence.
Ja needs to play smarter. He's playing kamikaze, prime era D. Rose style basketball. That works in the regular season, but gets harder to manage in the playoffs. There's also risk of injury with that. They'll be alright, though.
Even in the regular season they were better without him, 20-5 with the last 2 losses being at the end of the season on a locked seed. Ja is really good, but he has no impact on his team
It’s Not Derrick Rose’s style, it’s a much more a young AI. The only issue with it injury wise is that he’s playing in a higher paced league as a smaller built guard who attacks the basket alot. The injuries come from wear and tear more than recklessness. Which is his biggest issue is that he’s too ball dominant when he’s on the floor. He’s actually a very smart player, one the smartest young players in the league (luka then him) but Memphis puts too much pressure on him when’s on the court just to play free flowing basketball when he’s off of it
Not just injury but risks one of those injuries where everyone turns around and grimaces, think UFC's Cyborg's shin kick to his head or PG's leg snap etc.

Grizzlies won't win a ring without Ja because every championship team needs a closer and Ja is the only closer on the grizzlies at the moment.

Memphis is uber-talented. If they can keep there core of JA, Bane, Brooks and JJJ together, they will be contending for a championship in the near future. They are not on the Warriors level..................yet.
I appreciate the fact the host let their guest speak and isnt constantly interrupting them. Well done.
And the mavs only held them to 5 while the grizzlies without Ja held them to 6? I don’t remotely understand what he’s even trying to say
Finals is a different vibe. Dallas was also exhausted after the phoenix series as we dont have enought depth our players were overplaying. Usage for our wings was crazy.
@@legendparitosh This is why Memphis is better than you. They have depth, you don't.
Because Warriors and their fashion fans are afraid of the Grizzlies.
@@legendparitosh bro it was a depth issue. Grizzlies have depth. You don’t. Your 1 is better than our 1 but our 2-9 is way better than your 2-9. Plus your about to lose Brunson. That roster is trashed your lucky you didn’t get swept. We beat them 50 at home without Ja in the semi finals. The mavs have a future but they have an issue with talent, grizzlies have an issue with age. Second youngest team in the league.
@@hardliketissues7463 I don’t have a dog in this fight. I’m just impressed that every time you said “you’re,” you used the wrong version.
Memphis is a team that for some reason has really gassed themselves to a level beyond their actual accomplishments. You can't call yourself a "dynasty" without even having made a conference final. That said, I like their willingness to keep up the banter with the Warriors. It'll be interesting to see whether they can back it up come next season.
It's because Warriors relies on tiring you out throughout a series or a game for some results, and Memphis is so young, they usually don't get tired and they come full bore all 48 minutes.
They have made a conference final you clearly don’t know basketball hater or didn’t have access to a tv in 2013
@@thurmanwilliams4774 None of those guys were on the team back then. So they shouldn't talk.
@@thurmanwilliams4774 huuuh tf are you smoking.
It's because their leader, Ja Morant, thinks he's done more than he really has. A product of the social media era. He's a reason why the team has an inflated sense of ego
I genuinely believe that. I think Memphis is like Utah. Great season but I don’t see them finishing in the playoffs ever
here recently on JJ Redick's podcast:
Draymond ALSO said GSW would NOT have beat Lebron's Cavs in 2017 WITHOUT Kevin Durant.
Yup, warriors needed kd and kd needed warriors, I’m a warriors fan and I hate when other say that we didn’t need kd, but I also hate when others say warriors needed kd more than kd needed them which is the complete opposite, either way respect kd for us, but kinda hate how he left as soon as things started getting bad and then tried forming a super team and failed miserably
That's an unwarranted shot at Skip. Skip not only started sports debate shows with Cold Pizza but created his own thing from the ground up with First Take and again with Undisputed. SAS has hitched his wagon to readymade products and taken them to higher levels but there's a difference. And you can call Skip a lot of things but the dudes authentic af
Skip is a talking head.
Luka been there in euroleague
He has that hunger and know when it's get real
Dang draymond really don’t like Memphis 😆 makes sense tho since Memphis was talking so much in the playoffs. The mavs are definitely scary tho. Mavs, clippers and warriors are really gonna battle it out if they’re healthy next playoffs. Memphis is right there and Denver may be as well with Murray coming back. Gonna be a good next season!
as a nuggets fan i just wanted to say, don't forget about MPJ - we're gon need all the scoring we can get to match the warriors, memphis and dallas next season.
@@javislice yeah I’m interested to see if the nuggets can get over the hump. I honestly think Memphis is going to regress a bit, kind of how the Hawks did. I’m not sure why, just a feeling. prolly because the warriors, nuggets, mavs and clippers will be better than last year, I think it’s going to bump Memphis down a bit.
@@cfl4286 they will but not the hawks way they’re still young the hawks had some bad contracys like gallo and some uninterested veterans memphis is still building
Murray won’t come back looking like he did pre injury so they won’t be real contenders. Might take him a season or 2 to look like his former self
Idk how ppl sleep on the pelicans with Zion 100% healthy cj Ingram Jv
Weird shot at skip considering he just signed a 30m contract. Like him or not he sells.
Who???
Dont take it Green too seriously man. He is drunked here and talking without seberflection as always. He is saying that only because he likes SAS but he is basically black Skip troll
not close to SAS
@@futurehofer1564 stop it. skip is so much better than SAS
Draymond is telling no lies. Even with Dallas failing to field a great team around Luka.
Next Season is going to be lit. Thank you NBA for priming the pump!
I somewhat admire his confidence
but pride cometh before a fall
how about the pride that come even before the rise to the top?
hard to believe, but a certain team is full of that kind of kid.
he said in this podcast that they're tryin not to over appreciate this on the top moment so that they can still compete and taste it again. At least Draymond is confident but not oblivious, and he is a certified winner to back up all his confident. Unlike Morant.
@@DarrenStevensohnOfficial well morant just got in the league wtf
@@homomagii he is young but it is not like he just got drafted yesterday lol. what is it already... 4 seasons for him? That MIPOY trophy must've got into his head so much to make him such arrogant like that. Luka wasn't like that lol. He was mature enough even in his rookie year.
@@homomagii going by that logic, draymond just got in the league too.
Ja got dre in his feelings well the whole squad did.
The Nuggets might be a threat. And if they stay healthy and add some minor reinforcements a real problem too.
nuggets kind of remind me of lob city. really good team just will never go all the way
If Jamal comes back they gonna have a strong run
Nuggets needs to remove the injuries. I know its hard given MPJ & Murray contract but they need to move on ASAP. Those guys injuries are hard to recover from and we don't know how long Joker can deal w/ this "waiting to be healthy" game. They need to move on and rebuild around Joker
Nuggets were a threat until injuries hurt their chances. A lot of west teams have got better since the bubble. They just traded Will Barton too.
If the team plays to its potential I'm 1000% sure they can get the chip
Really true hating I hope he know we coming for them keep hating we love it grizzlies stand up 🐻 💯
Keep talking that Dray. See you next season brah.
One thing people overlook is player usage. There’s a reason golden state can plug in good basketball players and they immediately help. They’ve actually plugged in not so good basketball players who have helped. A superstar who moves the ball and himself willingly makes it much easier to find players that mix and match. It’s the universal language of basketball . If you have a superstar who always has the ball, the level of difficulty for his teammates increases with every “degree” you are removed “from the ball”.
Memphis gone be a 7th seed next year. Warriors, Dallas, Phoenix, Denver is now healthy, Clippers will be healthy and added John Wall, Pelicans getting Zion back. They don't know the west is gone be wayyy better they gone be in trouble
John wall?! 😂🫡
Hell yeah John wall as your third best player…. That’s a good team for sure
This will age like milk on a hot day
Bruh stop it Memphis on the same timing as last year the past 3 years they been getting better every season 🤡
Damnn I didn’t expect to see this John wall slander 😕
That’s what I’m saying: By this time next year Memphis won’t be the imminent threat they were this coming year with LAC coming back healthy and landing Wall, Golden State coming back with the young nucleus improving and Klay getting back to Klay, Denver getting Jamal Murray back with the reigning back to back MVP, Luka and Dallas will take another step and improve, Phoenix returning with something to prove - seems like Memphis thinks getting to the conference is a every year thing when it’s really not, just look at that OKC team that first got to the finals in 2012 then never returning against and they had a 24 year old KD, 23 year old Westbrook, and 22 year old Harden
That dude who mentioned the Knicks deserves jail time😂😂😂
Nothing better than Draymond dissing around, not a fan of his game, but boy does he know how to speak and engage.
3:16 Oooohhh, pretty sneaky smart move to say this (and nonchalantly) after establishing that you just open your door to people you trust and value. Instantly defusing any kind of personal animosity interpretation of your comments. You're a pretty smart fella Mr. Green.
Dallas needs Steven Adams. A reliable big that rebounds, sets good screens and finishes.
Uh Christian wood?
wood will fix that
Adams is soooooo overrated
I’m a Memphis fan, and I get what Green is saying. I just don’t like him saying it. 🤷🏾♂️
You ain’t gonna like it when ja talks all that talk just to be manhandled and look like a 2nd option when he goes up against Luka
@@SirJorge. mane thought he said something. Try again.
What about the Nuggets? With Murray and MPJ they are a contender for the Conference Finals I think.
That's a big if still, I think currently he's right but after FA and people return from injuries there might be more or different threats
Nuggets got thrashed with that core fully healthy and with jermie grant on top of that vs lakers and the jazz took them 7 games. If not for clippers self choking every single game being up double digits at HT. The nuggets havent been all that. They got swept vs suns last year while having jokic and mpj and won one game vs warriors who werent out of 2nd gear. They might be a good reg season team but i am not convinced about them in playofss esp with murray and mpj being negatives on defense
@@tarunreddy335 exactly! Nuggets aren’t even close to being a real contender
@@tarunreddy335 Yeah but Jokic improved a lot since then and became a back to back MVP. And the series vs. the Lakers was closer than it looks like. If AD doesn´t hit that game winner in Game 2 (thanks to Plumlee), the Nuggets are up 2-1 after three games. I think they can cause problems, but we will see.
@@Diesel33g Yes you´re right. I just think you can´t forget about them cause they were the sixth seed without their second and third best player.
"The moment " theory by Dray was Legit Deep. 100%
We the champs! And after this short podcast clip you get a glimpse into the mindset NBA players who play will analyze off season to prepare. Becoming champs is not easy
How oblivious can these professionals be though? Could they just be fearless?
Being to fearless creates stupidity.
If you re-watch those close games against the dubs, they could've won if they weren't 'oblivious' to foul situations, to the time clock, to ball security, to 2-and-1 opportunities....
@@patrickmitchell9359 you can be fearless without being naive.
@@patrickmitchell9359 and stupidity actually comes from fear never the other way around. The grizzlies with their fearless mentality will bring a higher celling that most people don’t see as of now because they can easily improve on things and strategize a lot quicker than your average contender. Them went from 9 seed to 2 seed the year after is a great example. They had this same mentality since the beginning of the 2020-2021 season they’ll do fine and better.
@@easylife6348 If your are to fearless then you become naive to the danger of the situation, that's stupidity.
If you are to naive to see the danger in a situation then that could look like being fearless but is actually ignorance
There you have it. Clippers are the real problem. Great coach, great players and great FO. Shitty luck so far but that can change in an instant. The Clippers didnt make the playoffs but so did the Dubs the previous year
Let them sleep on us. We coming.
@@flexermc4333 bro what? No one is even remotely sleeping in y it guys, your literally expected ti be the 2nd best team in the west and have a good chance to make it to the finals, their is literally no one sleeping on you guys, the media is already getting prepared and know you guys are good, if anything you guys have been underperforming from the expectations you guys get, and yes I know injuries but it’s also kinda sad that a team that’s easily top 5 in the league is also like glass and you touch them and they injured, either way my prediction is gsw vs clippers is going to be the big one and whoever wins that one will go to the finals
Draymond is 100% right, I think the Grizzlies might become last seasons Atlanta Hawks where they under perform next season because they get to confident in themselves
But the grizzlies are also a better defensive team than the hawks
That’s just pure barbershop talk. I know people prefer “he got that dog in him” over advanced analytics but atl did not underperform this year because they got cocky. They over performed last year beating the Knicks, and an injured Embiid and no Danny green (who proved to be invaluable for Philly this season despite them losing)
The grizzlies are way better than the hawks were last season and they are younger.. second youngest team in the league. I don’t expect them to finish second but they will probably last longer in the playoffs than the mavs next year.
nah they’re deep.
they are good but they aren't the warriors shooting 3's. That ja injury was suspect.
S/O JJ man he is really a great voice for the nba great balance
Great analysis
As a raptors fan, thank you for winning the championship lmao
