It's a sacrificial ritual and the death of the bull is the entire POINT. Plus all cattle we breed are eventually destined for meat. Prior to their day in the ring fighting bulls live like kings on free pasture for up to 6 years, while your average beef cattle are slaughtered at under 2 years old and more often than not spend that short life in miserable conditions. The bull in the arena is fired up on adrenaline and doesn't know what's coming until the very end, a task which the matador HAS to finish within a strict time limit. Compared to ordinary cattle which might wait for their turn at the abattoir for hours, knowing what awaits them. And the pressure of the production line means death is by no means always humane, it merely takes place where the public can't see it.

I am also from the US and if I recall people were complaining how bullriding is also cruel and should be banned here because we use spurs to get them to buck and bulls are also not built for riding.

Bullfighting is not in my culture, my family is from Galicia and I've lived in Catalonia for many years and we do not have it in our culture in either regions. And I don't enjoy it at all and I can assure you that I've never set foot in a bullfighting arena
