I wish I could. The police get overzealous around here during the summer when I would drive my car. They hand out tickets for any minor violation. Including not displaying a front license plate. Ask me how I know, lol!
There was a triangular shaped hollow part that went through a bracket. That teather held on the small plastic filler piece that clips into the front bumper facia. I carefully squeezed the triangular hollow part to slip it out of the hole in the inner bracket. This removed the tow hook cover piece. Then I screwed the bumper support rod into the threaded part where the tow hook would screw into. If you add a tow hook, try to get a long thin needle nose plier in to the opening. Then very carefully squeeze the back part of the teather to release it. You don't have to remove the cover/teather part, but your install will look cleaner if you do. I hope this info is helpful. 👍👍
It did, I tried to get it out naturally but had no luck, so I ended up just cutting that piece out, the cover can go back on without that feather arrow just fine. I'm debating the tow hook or this license plate holder with a silver and black ford performance plate.
@@GarveyMustangMan it's a bit tricky to remove that teather part from the mounting hole. It took me much too long to remove it. You're correct, the cover can go back on easily without the teather. If your jurisdiction doesn't require a front license plate, then a tow hook would look good at that location. I had to mount a license plate as it's required where I live, and I don't want to hassle with the police about it. Either way you go, your car will look great! 👍👍
The police are insistent about displaying a front license plate here in Ontario, Canada. It sucks. I can remove the front plate and mount, and install a tow hook if I track the car. But not if I plan on driving it on the street.
So you know the way you mounted it is still against the law in Ontario, its suppose to be in the proper front and center mounting spot, if a coo wants to be a prick they can still give your improper display of plate ticket….i suggest you donwhat i do, go to Canadian Tire paint section buy 3M Mounting tape, ipht a few strips on the back of the plate and stick it on where it should, no holes, no drama no tickets
You are technically correct. I have some 3M two sides tape, but I'll take my chances with the tow hook mounted plate for now. The plate is very visible and its near the front center of the bumper. I've seen quite a few cars with similar plate mounts. If I happen to get a "prick" cop try to ticket me, I'll take it to traffic court and fight it. It's worth a shot, lol! 👍
It was a very easy installation. I can remove it to install a tow hook, if I need one. I'd rather not use a front license plate, but it's a requirement in my jurisdiction.
@@GarveyMustangMan I found that license plate mount on Amazon. It's a good solution to having to use a front license plate. I asked the dealership to not drill holes in the bumper, before I took delivery of my car.
I was very hesitant about drilling my front bumper. There are small divots in the bumper to show where to screw in the bracket. I decided to use the tow bar location to mount the plate. Fortunately I found a bracket on Amazon. Either way I mounted the plate would've been ok. So far I haven't had any issues with the police either. Better to have the front plate than get a ticket or otherwise hassled by the police. 👍👍
It's not on the Canadian Amazon site. I used the American Amazon.com site to order the bracket. The brand is GOMINGO/GMG Motorsports No holes license plate braket for the Ford Mustang Mach 1. It was a fluke that I found it and it took a few weeks to ship from California. I couldn't find any other order or product number. I hope this helps.
It was easy. You carefully remove the outer panel from the bumper by prying it from the bumper. Then I used a long needle nose plier to carefully squeeze the inner part that goes through an attaching tether. Be careful not to press too hard with the pliers. You should be able to detach the tow hook cover at this point. I stored the cover with the car. At this point you can attach the license plate bracket, which you pre assemble. Thread in the extension shaft into the tow hook mounting point. It's a quick, easy installation. I hope this is helpful. 👍
@@LMach1 yes, use something that won't scratch the bumper. The tow hook cover will easily pop off. But it will remain attached to the car. This is where you need to remove it from the tether. Or you can leave it hanging behind the plate. I chose to remove it completely.
Possibly. I'm not 100% sure if the GT has a removable plug in the front bumper for a tow hook. My Mach 1 does have that option. I removed the small access panel and used the opening to mount the license bracket. A "Hide A Plate" removable bracket might be a better option for your '21 GT.
Thanks for the information. Just ordered for my 21 Mach 1.
You're welcome! I like how the plate mount looks on my car. It's easy to install and I avoided drilling holes into the front bumper.

I’m just going to leave my Mach 1 without a front license plate lol
