John Rowles moved to Australia when he was 16 and got his first big breaks under the name J R on Brian Henderson's BANDSTAND! He was born in New Zealand and to this day I am not sure if he is New Zealand OR Australian in his heart and mind, although he portrays himself as a firm New Zealander. BUT..the fact is there were FOUR great singers in the same mould at the same time, Tony Christie, Tom Jones, Englbert Humperdink ( whose brother sold used cars in Sydney) AND JOHN ROWLES!

This man is not a wanna be as you put it . He was a mega talent that should have become an international superstar because he was better than Humperdinck and Tom Jones put together . Its a pity though because John Rowels was so so good , he was truly a monolithic talent .
