Hey bud I don't know how much your views have fallen but I may know why like myself because of our absolutely horrible economy, I have to work a second job and it's on the weekends so watching every video that you post is tough I love the overnight videos but there is hardly any I watched all the knot videos on my luch break ty for. All the videos joe is a great guy ty for bringing up his accident
i was on joes channel saw that he was in accident i asked if anyone would do a gofundme page i haven't seen anything i want to help him out with funds
Awesome video per usual. Great message regarding Joe. I was thinking about your cook set question. I use Canadian mess kits , a rectangular pan with handles. They come in a set of two and fit inside each other. I went to a restaurant supplies store and got service tray lids that you see in cafeterias and buffets. They act as lids and hold them in place with para cord or ranger bands.
Did you see Helikon-tex mess kit? 15,5cm wide, stainless very similat to your 1950' kit
the bummer is though, when you order something and afterweeks of no updates there is an email that it was lost. end of story. well...no reason to try oredering again...since it can "get lost" again. ordering from alaska sucks. we get burned so often. why voice this here and not in an email? we did...no response. sorry sir. cant help but be disappointed. crap happens, I know. just sucks. 😢
Joe Robinet, that came out of the blue, again Shawn you are showing the essence of your background, your decency as a compassionate human being, my respect Shawn, shows the standards of USMC and humanity of a fine Human being. Thankyou for pointing the direction to James , very much appreciated. And also Joe Robinet. I have been watching his channel for quite some time..this has come as a shock
most will miss and refuse to watch
I could not agree more. The corporal is truly a stand up man
I second that. Joe and corporal are my two go to channels for bushcraft
You smashed your thumb.
Thanks for the shoutout to Joe, an old friend who was there for me when my sweet little boy was gravely ill. Very cool of you to take the high road.
You rock. Stop worrying about the negative complainers. I run my own business, have a day job, am building a camping/traveling rig and trying to develop property. I get how much you are putting in. You owe no one an explanation. Keep rocking it.
Absolutely!!!
I'm not hating. I love the corner I just don't think he actually stays in his shelters he makes most of the time? I may be wrong? I hope he does stay out in all the shelters he constructs, oneday a video round up of his top 5 shelters from the year would make a great recap video.
Hi Sean, I have enjoyed your video for many years. I also enjoy Joe Robinet's channel. Your asking folks to help out Joe and his family speaks volumes to your character. Well done.
Took me several episodes watching Alone show into satellite imagery to pinpoint their location, all posted up Canadian govt remote wilderness campsites. Further inspection revealed a network of logging trails, Joe bushwacking through extreme terrain, where he lost his firesteel there was a logging camp just a short distance away, if the wind was right you could probably smell the diesel -- coulda stopped by for a hotpocket, a frosty beverage and a bic lighter.
Don't drop the overnighters, please. Really enjoyed them over the years.
contact youtube and tell them to notify and circulate
Displaying concern for others, honesty, and professionalism at its BEST!!! Today's world needs a lot more of people like you! God Bless You Shawn!!!!!
thanks but it will fall on deaf ears as most will refuse to watch
If an old geezer, seventy (70), ME can watch Corporals Corner videos in the middle of the night from the Philippine Islands, I fail to see why the same is so probamilic for those in North America, Shawn puts in 99.5% of the effort. It takes little energy to click on a video!
Point taken. Another opinion is...why stress with getting there first at some odd hour to get an item in short supply. Plenty of good gear available in many other places. As long as it works for you, it doesn't matter the name on it.
1 million subs?? It was only a matter of time. Great job Brother. Thank you for sharing wisdom and survival skills all these years

MSR has an ideal locking lid cook set. I’ve used one for about eight years.
I’m a Gen X brain tumor warrior. I discovered Joe back in 2014. Watching videos helped me through all the treatment since then. Best wishes to for an outstanding AF Independence Day.🇺🇸
Outstanding video as always. Nice of you to give a shout out to Joe. Keep up the awesome work, devil dog. Semper fi and ooorah! 🫡👍
Love it! I hope you get decent views. Either way, Shawn, I watch all your videos. Your support of others in the community is proof of your character. Much respect, my friend.
thanks but the views are over and so will be the overnights, thanks for watching
Yes... I respect you Corporal.
Corporal your the salt of the earth a true stand up man for doing what you do I’m sure junk yard Fox and now joe are very thankful for your support god bless and please besafe out there
no one would do this for me and most cant wait until my channel fails
@@recall5811 well I pray your channel never fails you have a ton of knowledge and others to learn from . Like I said be safe my brother I fell last July broke my elbow on my right hand has never been the same all from just tripping over a stick and rolled my ankle and I went straight to the ground wtf had surgery and had a Artificial elbow put in
Nice shoutout to Joe. May God always bless you.
Great video as always! I have one piece of life saving advice with a bivy type tent. My Dad and I were avid hikers, he was really into light weight. One night he got this new bivy tent, the condensation got his goose down sleeping bag wet and he almost died of hypothermia. Luckily his buddy was there, heard him asking for help and got a fire going. So a bivy and synthetic fill would be better.
You demonstrate many values.
A) Respect: supporting others in need while being competitive
B) Demonstrating how to adapt and overcome despite resources
C) Showing a can do attitude
...The list goes on.
To those who have difficulty understanding your value/contribution... Good luck and good bye
As always you are a true person and gives credit where credit is due and tries to help his neighbor, no matter where that person is. Salute!
Good stuff, Shawn! Kudos for everything you do for the bushcrafting community.
Great video, Shawn! I've been following you for over 10 years. You have excellent content and a strong ethical code. Carry on Corporal!
I love watching these over nighters. I learned a lot from you. I'm just a woman who likes to camp and hike. Sometimes, I go CMO (competitive mounted orienteering ) camping with a friend and our horses. Mostly, I go alone. I was camping 30 years ago, but I learned the most from you. I also learned a lot about camp food from Rose Red's Trail Grazers. I know how to use lots of knots now, too. I know many ways to start a fire! My only weakness is just that... I can't dig deep into the ground. I don't have muscle power like you do!. I'm in Northern Illinois with lots of rocks and clay. But I love your videos. And I have bought some of your items. Thank you.
I like the large builds of permanent camps
You are showing what a good person you are. It’s great to see a truly decent human. Great video.
Classy thing to do stepping up for a rival like that, I will go donate.
MSR Makes a 1.1 liter stainless steel pot and lid with a fold over handle that locks the lid on. MSR Alpine Stainless Steel Stowaway Camping Pot Not terribly priced at @ $28, but might be heavier than what you are looking for. Enjoy the overnighters and I was considering Dakota's pantry roll so I am glad to see some others trying it out to see how they like it. Take care, be safe. -Tony
I was going to suggest the same pot.
A better flour to carry would be BisQuik or Krusteaz pancake mix. Comes with baking powder and baking soda so biscuits to bread, pancakes to donuts.
My part of the country almost guaranteed that a pile of leaves has a copperhead or red ants in it. Special times both.
Good morning, folks!
Happy Sunday
Given some Yankee thrift, I like to reuse things that I already have. The Talenti Gelato containers are similar to the containers in this bedroll. And they are free once you eat the Gelato. They are a handy size for storing extra screws, nuts, bolts, and nails in the workshop too. We used to use baby food jars for that, way back in the day.
What! No hand made rake!
Corp, you are an incredible human with a golden heart. Thank you for everything you have done for your country and for all the great content. Much love brother
For your question sir, i’ve been using these for years: MSR Alpine Stowaway Pot
Of all the bivys and bivy tents I've seen tested on RUclips, this one seems to be the one that I would be most interested in. It has a decent amount of room plus the space to store your pack outside the sleeping area. Another good job, corporal!
Not saying that this isn't good. Outhaus makes one that's a lottle heavier due to the fact that it's canvas and has a mattress in it. But it breathes better and actually has airflow.
Love Joe's content. At one point I couldn't keep up with the content he was pumping out as they were often lengthy. Mostly I just watch the shorter production people pump out. Corporal's Corner and Joe Robinet were two of the first channels I started watching when I became interested in Bushcraft and Survival.
The man bro thinking of others in need! You and Joe go way back both OGs who should be recognised more by RUclips for the years of dedication and hard work. All we can do is keep supporting men like you both. Keep watching subscribe and like! Keep up the good work bro 🩵
MSR makes the best example of a locking cook pot/skillet that I've seen. I just stuck with my Stanley pot because I don't use the skillet often.
Try this shawn.
Its not small more of a billy can, but handles lock down, comes with frying pan and handle, which also locks.
Its made by camping art, not seen them in a long time now.
5 inches deep, comes with 2 plates 2 cups and f pan 9 inches in diameter.
And please consider continuing the over nighters. I love your camping videos! One never totally stops learning about Bushcraft and sleeping outdoors. People are constantly coming up with new ideas on how to do it better, lighter and safer.
MSR Stowaway. 4 different size. I use the smallest to store my last hope equipment, I have it constantly on my webbing that I constantly carry on me when I move away from my camp. For my pot to make my food the lid serves as a plate or small pan that I use with an aluminum handle of msr. Take care.
Hi Corporal, for a new cookpot, you might like the "Alpine" pots by MSR. Wide enough for frying, deep enough for boiling. Stainless steel, locking lids, a bunch of sizes, and quite low priced.
Bravo corporal K., nice job. Never was a fan of JR but certainly want him to recover from being injured. Chicken flavor lentils w/hardtack...I miss the bacon and drippings. Thanks.
I been following Joe for years back when his girl was little and long before Scout got sick and died like 6 or 7 years ago
MSR makes the Stowaway pots that have a handle that doubles as a latch for the lid. Several sizes have been available over the years. Lid isn’t ideal for use as a skillet but would probably work in a pinch. A short piece of wire makes them suitable for hanging over a fire too.
Please don't get rid of the over-nighters. I look forward to them every Sunday. Your mid-week and gear reviews are very educational alone but I prefer when you do it all together. Thank you for what you do. Keep 'em coming!
Dont forget the overnighters might get the same amount of views but they get the viewers here, who then view the shorter formats.
I do in put out put and will no longer work 24 hours for the same views as a 2 hours on gear
Sore the video on Joe's channel. My love and prayers go out to them all. Love the tent, great for a one day hike and overnight.
Joe Robinet May god be with you and your family in this time of need god bless
I've watched joe as long as I've watched you Shawn , it's unfortunate but what joe is going through happend to me 34 years ago and yes, joe will need help if his brain injury is like mine he will haweakness loss of feeling balance eye sight endurance speech and hearing difficulties just to name a few but with the help of family and others I am able to survive , now that they are all gone it's a struggle so I know what jow is going through God bless him and don't give up.
I bet you could turn the "bedroll pantry" canvas bag inside out and use it as Millbank water filter bag. For those who don't understand, turning it inside out means the outside gets dirty but when righted, the inside stays clean.
Good thinking there. A multiuse item is always an asset.
I find the one pint, "Tantenti brand" Sorbet containers are great. Average $4 in the ice cream section, eat the Sorbet, wash and use in the field. Clear container with a jar type screw on lid. I make it extra waterproof with a piece of Eax paper between the lid and the jar. I have these with rice, beans, pancake mix (just add water), jersey, elbow noodles, smaller portions of dehydrated foods, etc. Ibhave also divided the pint using a zip lock bag to give 1/2 pint of rice, shared with 1/2 pint of beans, etc. In a pinch it can be a water container, or for leftovers-airtight. Just a thought.
Cpl. You are a stand up man. You were brought up correctly in this life. Thank you for all that you do. Great video as always too.
Excellent video, really like the containers and sleeve. Sorry to hear about Joe. I don’t watch his channel but I appreciate your effort to reach out and help. It shows who you are. Thank you.
Just wanted to say how much I enjoy your videos all these years and knowledge of the outdoors. I also want to say thanks for mentioning about the accident Joe Robinet had. Joe is special to us up here, but he will eventually return.
Props to you for being the bigger man and using your platform to bring awareness to a human in need.
Fried eggs, hot coffee, and Corporals Corner!🎉🎉🎉
Ahhh... Sunday morning greatness!
Great video!
😊
I have watched hundreds of hours of Joe Robinet. RUclips unsubbed me but I fixed that. He’s a good person - a real one.
youtube claims they dont do that and that all subs are notified
Riiiight. 😂
Sharpie tip - Use the "industrial" Sharpie (Wal-Mart usually has them) and cover your writing with Scotch tape. It prevents the marker from rubbing off and is pretty weather proof.
I showed my father you page today (former Marine, Vietnam 3/7) and I think you now have a new fan.
He and his wife, still at their age, go out on camping trips and is always looking for new items and techniques. Still has love for the gear he relied on in that tropical shithole for all that time. F**king Marines are just built differently (maybe better) I guess 👍
Thanks for the shout out for Joe. I am also a subscriber to him and saw the video of his accident. You are a great person to watch out for other people thanks also for the great video.
Here's an idea; Design, and sell your own Bush Pot and Lid/Skillet. I'D buy it. I'm sure your followers would appreciate an option YOU provide.
Here in Arkansas, briars, snakes, ticks, spiders, ants that bite... yea if I can I go with a hammock with a built in net and a tarp over it. If I have to sleep on the ground I rake all the leaves, sticks etc into a pile away from my sleeping area
Cpl. Kelly you are a true American soldier coming always to needs of others in trouble! Also a real class act! Good fortune should always follow you!
Corporal, I have been watching you religiously for the last 4 years! Great video brother
Always clear your camp spot. Nothing worse than the pine cone or rock under your tent when you get all set up 😂 another awesome video. Keep it up corporal 🤙
Even if you package the litter back under for bedding, you can take the uncomfortable bits out and make sure you know where the roots and rocks are!
I learned a long time ago (Vietnam days) NOT to sleep on the ground if at all possible! In the summer I use a hammock system with a tarp and in the winter on the ground with a thermal pad and tarp from the hammock system. Works great!!!
It sounded like Joe was very fortunate a guy had a gut feeling and went to check on him.
I like the container sleeve to keep your foods organized. There was plenty of room in with the bouillon cubes for packets of salt, pepper, sugar, coffee or tea bags, etc. if desired. Also if you have some potassium permanganate you can use it with the sugar for fire starting.
Corporal, I absolutely love your show, but what I love most about your show is your willingness to help out others when they need help. Whether its a struggling new content creator of an established content creator that has had some type of misfortune.
On the cook set, I honestly cannot throw a suggestion on where to get what you are wanting. But if you cannot find it soon, have you thought about designing what you are wanting, then shopping around for a manufacturer?
Just a thought sir.
First off pray for joe. 2 I had a tent like that 40 years ago it was a Grosssamer got it at the Hiking Shack in phoenix Arizona 3-1/2 pounds. AF
You might wanna try the Stanley 2 man cook set. It's the right size stainless with a "locking" lid. Draw backs are that it if filled with a bunch of crap ya don't need.
Awesome looking shelter.
Prayers for both of ya'll.
Thanks for working hard to provide us with quality content and for your compassion for others in need.
I know there had never been much love between you and Joe Robinet. Good on you for giving him a shout out and sending some kindness. You put the unity in community. 👊
Please keep the overnighters and builds coming. Thanks for the content.
You're a class act! Sending prayers to Joe. Feel bad for good people who suffer misfortune! Enjoyed the video and the continued new gear.
훌륭한 캠핑 영상 공유해 주셔서 재밌게 잘 봤습니다.
Zebra Stainless Steel Food Box and Pan with Snap on Lid, The pan measures 5 3/4 inches in diameter and 3 inches tall. Inner storage pan measures 1 1/4 inches deep....Perfect pan i,ve been using one for years have a look...keep up the good job Corporal...
Love my zebra kit!
Thanks Shawn, nice review of gear. So sorry to hear about Joe :( !
Semper Fi
I love all of Corporals Corner videos!
I agree with you about clearing the brush. In fact, I still use the pitchfork (Y) branch you taught us to use for clearing the brush. FYI more than once, I have found a diamondback rattlesnake lurking under the brush.
this is the first C Corner video that has been recommended to me in my "subscribed" section in at least 6 months. Glad youre still around.
Thank you Corporal
Thanks for all you do!
Thank you ❤️🙏 Corporal.
I like my GSI cookset. It has what appears to be a 2 quart pot topped by a 7.5 inch skillet. Inside it has a 6 inch skillet that doubles as a bowl with a 1 quart pot. It comes with a very stout handle and each piece has the bracket for the handle to clamp onto. It is anodized aluminum and pretty non-stick. I can put a small butane stove with a small can of butane inside. It comes in a mesh bag. I've had mine for about 30 years.
yay to overnighters!!!!
MSR SS mess kits with lock latch!
Thank you for what you do
Thanks!
I was an E-4, MOS 0317, so ultralight is my mind set, I appreciate the content Marine. ooraaah!!
E4 mos 3531 semper fidelis brother
Just want to say thanks for all you do Corporal. even though I can't get out to the woods as much as I'd like, you have taught me things that will be good just in case the unspeakable happens. I do appreciate it. Asan aside. I really do appreciate the solo overnighters.
It takes quite a person to lookout for another as you are doing for Joe.Thank you man of character! No wonder we have the greatest respect for you .Gosh and I saw you eat lentils today too...thanks for all the honest reviews of items you personally test . Strength and good health to you and yours.
You are a true gentleman Corp. Shawn Kelly! Show them how to be a gentleman in this crazy world that is truly lacking in good morals and right conduct.
Amen to that, I was in the Corp, And what has shocked me is how many that got out of the Corp And no longer behave as Marines! How do you call yourself one when you don't behave like one ? Being a moral human being is the right thing to do. Stand tall and be upright
Thank you for the call out for Joe. I discovered your channel because I loved his stuff first. I love both of you for different reasons.
It seems like there is a lot of confusion about bushcrafting and lightweight gadget hiking. I have met people that had very uncomfortable situations arise while carrying the "coolest" gadgets. Glad there's work like yours to bring awareness to the difference. It could even mean the difference between life and saying goodbye.
Good tent. Good video. I've used my Eureka Solitaire A1 1 man tent for shorter weekend 1-2 night 1000 km (600 miles) 5+ days I've used my Kelty Grand Mesa 2 man tent. Good room inside for gear. Both are great tents. I put an extra 8' x 10' poly tarp over the tent and scooter for extra rain protection. I'm passing these on to my grandsons for their enjoyment, as they love camping.
I always find your foods interesting and was wondering that if you haven’t already done one if you could do a video on the psychology of just having a warm meal that doesn’t taste bad, I don’t have any military experience but I used to work shitty hours that usually caused me to miss dinner with my family and I know just having something warm to eat can make all the difference
Watch you every Sunday brother! Enjoy all of your content I'm sure Joe and his family appreciate what you just said well done.
they will never know since youtube has already flagged and hidden the video from the feed and from circulation
@recall5811 well I'll just post it over there
Thanks for the vid, Shawn. Awesome stuff.
MSR seagull pot/locking skillet lid
Thank you,Joe has always had good content.
