David had such a great time singing this song, he was truly alive on stage. the man didn't seem to age very much at all until he got sick and even then he looked amazing until the end. I still can't believe he's gone, what a tragic loss , he truly was the greatest artist of all time, he knew no boundaries in music.

Love this performance -- not the most perfect version of the song ever, but it has so much energy and everyone's having a blast. What a man. Still miss you, David.

The band was crackin' that day. David always had the best hired guns.

David Bowie pays tribute to a person who was a source of inspiration of the Ziggy Stardust character: The Legendary Stardust Cowboy. Very clever, because by doing this it means that The Ledge got some $$$ in royalties for this, which he could probably use very well (his own records don't sell *that* well ;) ). And I am pretty sure this was one of the explicit reasons to release this cover.
I truly admire Bowie for little things like this. He is always very generous and sincere in giving praise to the artists that he admires. Always great to hear him talk about bands like The Pixies, Sonic Youth, etc. etc. and showing them every bit of respect for their artistic contributions to the world of rock'n'roll, rather than judging them for the number of records they sold.
It's the mark of a truly great artist. Rest in peace, Mr. Bowie.

What a fun song here. Love David's vocals. The bassist is fantab too. Had to do some research and found she is Gail Ann Dorsey and I listened then to a 2 min. gem of her playing that Mean Bass of hers. :-))) What a way to end a beautiful warm (spring day) at our Annual Flea Market. Just what I needed. Thanks to an Angel BEing that knows where to find gems like this to share with an x-sheeple. ;-))) Love to the World. :-)))) XO

Gail Ann Dorsey is wonderful in her own right. David knew how to pick musicians.

What a fun tune to hear after a delightful day with my grand-baby..... Has me flying high for the energy in which comes through this live performance I feel like I could Fly without a spacecraft......heck I would settle for a walk on the beach. ;-) One of my fave songs. Being a very sentimental person this performance makes my heart-giggle. : -) Great guitarists with this fantastic band. What an end to a wonderful day because someone thought enough of me to share this tune. Thank you! Priceless. Peace!

I feel like this whole performance is sort of an ode to the past, between the song by Ziggy prerequisite and his older and greyer but still thin white duke suit and dance moves. I love how much fun he's having here though 😁😁😁

Been re-playing this great tune. Just magnificent. What a gift to send to a friend. Priceless. MUSIC to die for.;-))) No wonder Plato suggested licensing musicians. SURE glad they did not high-jack Humanity in that way. WE would all be in jail. Back to Bowie and that bassist from Heaven. Just awesome talent he finds.

This is a much better copy than the other currently on RUclips but its got less than a quarter of the views! Thanks for posting this! I don't like the album version but this is great. Love the sorta Legendary Startdust Cowboy vocals - but not authentic enough to make the music suck. Bowie's awesome and obviously having fun here.

I just can't like this. Ledge did it better; he had real pathos and soul. Bless you Bowie for trying, but you're just ≈ 4,835 miles apart from the Legendary Star Dust cowboy.

Bottom line, it's Stardust respect. I love that he gave props to Ledge by naming his character Ziggy Stardust.
