- Welcome to Jakarta! The capital city of one of my favourite countries in the world.. Indonesia.
We start the vlog having a wander around the local area of Cepete in the south of the city before making our way into the the centre of Menteng. We go for food and drinks, use the MRT, take a stroll around the national monument before finishing with a tuk tuk (Baji) ride.
Hope you enjoy the video and subscribe to see part two of our day around Jakarta. On the next video we visit Kota Tua, the harbour and end in Jakarta's Chinatown.

No.... Na-ah.... I don't encourage foreigners to live in Indonesia, go prosper your own country, dear foreigner. We have enough foreigner already here, and many of them only cause chaos, spread immorality, and destroy local tradition....
It's funny, wherever you go in the world, there are people with this thinking. Currently in the UK there are a lot of people with your view.
I understand you want to keep your culture and tradition, that's great. People like me will live in your country and respect it. You can't just say no foreigners. People are people at the end of the day. Some good, some bad but skin colour or nationality has nothing to do with it in my opinion.

Indonesia feels like a mix between Malaysia and India.
I can see why you'd say that, similar to Malaysia in a lot of ways (both countries might find that offensive though 😅) but a bit more chaotic. I have a strong love for both 🫶

As a comparison greater london metropolitan area 20% Bigger than greater jakarta metropolitan area but only have 15 Million people
Yeah it's crazy how many people live in Jakarta. I know it has its problems but for me it's so nice to see so many people living happily together in a small area

The weather in Jakarta is quiet hot either for me, evenso I am an Indonesian. I'm living in Bogor, the city located at southern area around 60km from the centre of Jakarta with a lot of greeneries and mountain, So being in Jakarta makes my body sweat so much. I hope you still enjoy your trip in Indonesia, because the tropical heat may makes you exhausting.
Yes it's a bit different from the UK 😅 I get used to it after a while, I'll have to go to Bogor at some point, would be nice to see the scenery

You have to go to the mall. Jakarta is a mall city big durian..There are 96 malls in Jakarta alone. 200+ malls if you include all cities on the outskirts of Jakarta
There are so many malls in Jakarta! I'm not really a mall person, but they're always good to get out of the heat in the afternoon. I lived by Lotte mall, so I was in there most days for one reason or another (playing in the arcade mainly 😅🤣)
You should cross the road at the MRT station. It has a bridge crossing. After leaving the MRT you should've walked north. You walked south. Talk about going the long way around. 😅I think you mean ketopkrak, food similar to gado-gado.its more polite to give and take things with your right hand.😊 It's not a tuk-tuk it's a Bajaj. Said "Bajay". Sorry to give you so many corrections.. 🙏

Apart from Bali 😅 I think Indonesia's visa laws are probably the reason why foreigners are more likely to settle in neighbouring countries.
Understandable with the size of your population in Jawa though. Maybe Indonesia could offer an easier working visa for foreigners to live in your new capital, Nusantara to help with growth.

Yeah, I would rather take a bajaj because it's part of your culture, but like black cabs in London, they price themselves out of jobs sometimes.

It was more for the experience, I like taking Bajaj, but some of these guys would be better off taking less money and more jobs than trying to overcharge people. You're right though, gojek, etc. Is better, but it would be a shame to lose the bajaj, it's part of your culture.

Honestly, I just feel a strong connection with Southeast Asia . The people, food, and cultures always amaze me.
