@@Sailing_Aquarius just seen the berthing in Portaferry, and to be honest, I think you were a little hard on yourself, I’ve been with skippers who have been sailing for years, and have berthed worse than that👍
Come to South Carolina you see dolphins very often. Never get tired of that. Hang a crucifix below bless yourself on the way out and when your back. Say thanks be to God. Be happy don't worry
Well I do say a wee prayer before heading out and thank God for a safe return. Aww we are itching to see dolphins but it just ain't happening. Maybe when we are skilled enough we can get over that way and see some
When I used to fly, we had a saying "If you can walk away from it, it's a good landing. If they can still use the aircraft afterwards then it is a great landing!". Sailing needs a similar saying for docking - the only important thing is getting in. Elegance is an extra. 👍
Another lovely video Mark. I love the way you perceive with limited knowledge. I would love to take up Saling but at 71 and having a wife with no interest in boats, it's I can't see it happening. I imagine myself at the tiller of your boat. Thanks again.
Thanks so much Bob. Well maybe you could crew on some boats if there are any clubs or marinas near you? I know skippers of larger boats where I am appreciate extra the extra hands on deck. If not maybe you and your wife could get the chance to sail with a club or a friend. Who knows she might get bitten by the sailing bug. If all that fails and you find yourself in Northern Ireland, you will be vewry welcome aboard our little boat.
@@howardbull9001 we have serviced the engine. Just finished a repair on the keel. Trying to do some stuff with the thru hills and upgrade instruments at the moment. An ever growing list 😬
Just found you and checking out your back videos. Did u or Kelly have any sailing experience before buying the boat. Great to see somebody from our neck of.woods out sailing
Hi Sara. I had 5 days sailing experience before buying this boat. Probably should have done more but didn't know anyone with a boat so it was difficult. Pretty much winged it. Kellie had no experience so it's been a case of us both learning really. Where are you from? Do you sail?
@@Sailing_Aquarius from antrim was planning on selling house and buying one but covid stuffed that up no sailing experience either like yourselves follow a lot of the sailing channels but nice to see ones from northern Ireland out plan was to sail uk for year then across to med
Another good video. Quick question does your stackpack boom bag not have battens in it? It may help with your sail to fall into it when lowering your mainsail. Mine has them and it also helps when raising the main as the bag opens wider when you slacken off the lazy Jack's a bit.
Good spot Lee, and it will indeed make a big difference. you can clearly see at 15.36 that the battens are missing from the bag and it would help them out a lot.
Thanks Lee. No our stack pack doesn't have battons, I actually didn't know you could have them with battons and had been thinking of a way to make something for the pack to keep some shape in it or keep it opened. is your battons fitted from manufacturer or did you put them in?
@@Sailing_Aquarius I bought my stack pack bag secondhand off ebay and it was sold with no battens in it, so easier to post without them fitted. On mine they slot into the material from the mast end, via a flap of material which is velcroed down. I just used some 1" plastic conduit, or you could use Ali tube.
Grate video thanks for sharing ⛵⛵⛵
Thanks guys
Hi Mark and Kellie, just found your channel and and catching up with your videos, you are doing great with the boat👍
Hi James. Thanks very much. We are still very new to it all but enjoying the journey 👍⛵

@@sarascott2217 that really is the dream 😊
Ah, the stress of docking. Couldn't help smiling when you high-fived after securing the boat. :-)
Yeah it was nerve wrecking. In this marina in particular the tidal flow is very strong. So thought the safe docking was worthy of a high 5 😁 lol
Great video thanks for sharing!
Thanks Brendan. We appreciate that 👍
Great stuff guys, loving the videos and thanks for posting them. Every day out is a vertical learning curve, keep it up.

Another great wee vid guys.
We’ve been sideways into those double berths in port-af-ry😂
Thanks Phil. Lol I thought we were going to end up side ways that day too. I'd have had to to cut that bit out of the video if we had haha
If you get away into the sides you will get the back eddies, and out of the flooding tide.
I've heard of guys saying about that on the Strangford side. Does it work on the Portaferry side OK?
Great video and for superstition if the boat gets it's name change you have to do a ceremony
Haha yes. We have been looking into the ritual for the ceremony for when we change the name of the boat 😁
👍👍 for the algorithm
