Geez if this guy can learn 29 languages, I can learn just one at a conversational level. Problem is I don't know what language learning program to use. I just want to speak a language and not get tied up in learning its grammar and syntax. Any suggestions?
yeah I learned 3 to a conversational level this year. took me 1-4 months for each one. It's not really about the program... it's just about surrounding yourself with the language as much as possible. Pretty much every polygot vid, person will tell you to do the same thing for the beginner level... to first learn the 1000 most common words and probably mention Stephen Krashan and comprehensible input at some point (literally every polygot to ever live says Stephen Krashan's name at least 10 times a day while touching their wiener), then beyond that, all their methods will diverge. I know a billion different tricks and can tell you how Mike Campbell, Lampariello, MacPherson, Kaufmann, ect. do things... I even have my own method. But at the end of the day it's not that important, because it all comes down to immersion and enjoyment. Beyond that you just find what works for you. If you are immersed, you will learn, and if you enjoy it, you will continue. It's that simple. If you surround yourself with/study/whatever the language 4-6 hours a day and begin practicing your speech for at least an hour or two a week (around 100-300 hours in was the time I'd usually start). if it's CAT 1 you'll be speaking somewhere around B1 within a handful of months. Also don't worry about grammar or the small details. That'll come naturally. If you study grammar, make it like 10-20% of everything you do because it's not super critical, and won't really help you as much as you think.
I have been trying to learn Spanish bit it's super hard. Anyone who can speak more then 3 languages or anyone who is able to learn Chinese or Vietnamese is not human
