I absolutely love August Burns Red. Been a fan since the Messengers days. That being said, I was a little disappointed by the "old western" section of this song when I heard it. Not that it's not cool, because it's definitely awesome and well-played, but Between the Buried and Me did it in "Disease. Injury. Madness." and The Chariot did it in "First," both in the last six years. Just seems a little overdone right now.
No idea how Rain Dawson took the win over Matt in the APMAs.. I guess it shows you that a lot of it was popularity driven which was to be expected tbh.
SteveOTheMan16 mostly because Rian is the most likeable, friendly and easy to talk to guy you'll ever meet. Matt has probably never once talked to a fan on social media, and probably books it to his tour bus after shows and avoids his fans. Same with Luke. Luke's band is known by like nobody, and he's just full of himself. It's a fan vote, if you want to win you have to be likeable.
CHEESE I've met and talked to Matt twice and he's a very nice guy and super down to earth. He does seem to keep to himself but that's because he's a humble dude. He works on his farm during off tour stuff so he's probably too busy to keep up with twitter, facebook etc. It really came down to more people knowing about All Time Low
Elias Simpson Normally with sticks its different. This is probably the first time I've seen a drummer with signature sticks not using them. I mean Chad Smith has been using nothing but his signature sticks since he got them, and the same goes for Thomas Lang. I mean, they're made specifically for their use, not for advertising. They just happen to be sold as well so players have more options and can feel what the real drummer feels while playing a song. Who knows though, maybe Matt has a new design coming out? Or he just wants to go back to the sticks he used for many years, before he got his own and changed the feel of them?
One thing I like about Matt is that even though he's a legendary drummer, he don't get cocky so easily like Luke showing all of his sticks tricks which gets boring overtime. That simplicity in Matt is what I admired the most. And no wonder Luke is also one good drummer but comparing with Matt.....haha! Matt rules him out EASILY
I've been a fan of ABR since Thrill Seeker, but it seems like my interest them has been going down by the album. I thought Thrill Seeker and Messengers was some of their best work. Constellations was probably my last enjoyable album from them. Leveler wasn't too bad, but everything after that just seems too much the same. Listen to the intros to half their cds. They start with guitar feedback. The breakdowns aren't as good as their older stuff and the surprise bridge of other genres was done on previous albums and it was great because it wasn't expected. It seems like every bridge on the new album has that and it just feels too forced. I understand why they might have done it. Because of the albums title they were trying to incorporate different musical styles from around the world perhaps, but it doesn't mean it works right. I'm not hating, I'm just finding myself growing out of them I guess.
