The main reason that E.L.O and the Traveling Wilburys sounded soooooo good is because Jeff was the producer of the albums as well. He produced The Beatles Anthology album back in the 90's.

ELO at their peak! Amazing! As well as Jeff Lynne, full credit must go to Kelly Groucutt (the bassist & other singer) for working out those amazing vocal parts with Jeff. Full credit to Louis Clark for creating all those choir vocal parts. Credit also to keyboard player Richard Tandy for playing a big part in the arrangements of the songs.

    • @rcherry1978
      @rcherry1978 Год назад +1

Yes ELO was more than just Jeff Lynne . Kelly Groucutt the bassist for the group was also a backing vocalist for the group and sang lead and co- lead on a couple of songs. He and Jeff harmonized so great together and i would put them right up with the Bee Gees, Simon and Garfunkel, Queen ,and the Beach Boys.Richard Tandy the keyboardist extraordinaire is one of the finest rock keyboardist ever if you ever do as live reaction to one of their peak (from 1973-79) you will see he is playing 3 keyboards at one time he is incredible.Bev Bevan a great rock drummer in his own right founded the group with Jeff in 1971 from the ashes another group The Move along with Roy Wood who left the group after the first album leaving Jeff to take the reins Jeff produced all the albums ,wrote all the original music and along with Conductor Lous Clark and keyboardist Richard Tandy arranged all the orchestra parts with Clark also arranging choral parts as well.ELO in my opinion is one of the finest bands ever I'm so glad you enjoy their music If you have any questions regarding them feel free to ask me because i am THE BIGGEST ELO FAN and i am at your service.

Jeff Lynne was most inspired early on by the Beatles. So later in life, before these Legends started passing away, those guys, George Harrison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, and if there’s another one I can’t remember right now….. they had Jeff Lynne building this band and they did very well, but they never would’ve done anything really, if not for Jeff Lynne. He was killing it with ELO when these guys were starting to retire. They were big fans of him already.
Jeff Lynne was a legend from the day he looked outside his hotel window and saw the sun shine on the Alps. He wrote Mr. Blue Sky. He was given that magic, like so many of the chosen, he was given a divine gift from God. Or the Aliens, choose your divine Power.
Doesn’t matter what you call Him. He’s sitting there just waiting until He gets His precious chosen one back by His side. God looks down on Jeff Lynne and is impressed. Even the creator of the universe is baffled by Jeff Lynne’s genius.
Yes, I realize that if Jeff Lynne passes away, I will not know which end is up.

I actually saw his last live concert in Pittsburgh at PPG Arena…..just before Covid-19 hit…..this show Dhani Harrison (George Harrison’s son) was the opening act…..during ELO’s set Dhani came to on stage he did lead vocals when they did Traveling Wilbury’s big hit Handle with Care, it was a show stopper showing videos on each member of the Traveling Wilbury’s…..it was a great show….ELO’s played for 90 minutes…Dhani played for about 45 minutes…Dhani came out to personally autograph his new album at intermission…..

He wasn't just a Traveling Wilbury..He produced both their albums too. Without him, it probably wouldn't have worked...And, he produced albums for Tom Petty, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, Roy Orbison, Dave Edmunds, Brian Wilson....The list is endless. The albums he produced and in some cases co-wrote are considered some of their their best work. The Jeff Lynne magic....Twenty plus years in obscurity, living in Los Angeles, he couldn't sell an album or put bums on seats to save his life, but somehow, magically, in 2016, the world suddenly realised who he was...By 2017, he's filling stadiums and has THREE albums in the top ten here in the UK. He's up there with the greats. JEFF LYNNE IS A GENIUS. You mention Tom Hanks. He's a fan too.

It's exactly the first three songs of that album: Prologue/Twilight/Yours Truly 2095 and I suggest you to listen to all 3 in one round because they're attached amazingly, especially because there's no Twilight without the Prologue and Yours Truly 2095 has it all, futuristic sounds, lyrics and very very cool for that time! It is super interesting to me, who lived through the time when this song was on the radio, to see that POCs are now listening to it. At the time POCs listened to 'soul' music or Latin music, but only rarely did they listen to this kind of song When they did listen the songs were called cross overs. As the 70s came to the end, Disco had begun to bring POC audiences to what was then called POP music. Disco songs like: Shame (Evelyn 'Champagne' King); The Best Disco in Town (Ritchie Family) and Star Love (Cheryl Lynn) moved off the dance floor and onto first 'soul' radio channels but quickly were picked up by POP stations. That opened the door to other artists crossing from POP to ROCK and then back to Soul. From the same ELO album came the hit Sweet Talkin' Woman.

I may be four months late to the party but your reactions are excellent.
I don't know if you ever heard the Four Tops song, "I'll Turn to Stone". It's very similar I'm surprised there wasn't a lawsuit. Check it out. Could be a coincidence idk.

    Hola.
    Bien.
Por qué no incluyen la hermosa balada
    " Midnight blue " - Electric Light Orchestra ( 1979 ).
Esta bella canción está basada en la obra
" Romeo y Julieta " de William Shakespeare , y narra - pienso - el encuentro furtivo de dos amantes , durante la noche.
    Muy buen video , maestros.
Electric Light Orchestra , extraordinaria banda inglesa.
    Un abrazo cordial , amigos.
    Saludos desde Chile , Sudamérica.

You guys should listen into an ELO show on Lost Planet Radio, you'd probably enjoy it. Jeff has quite a collection of music. Glad you're enjoying this one from 1977 from Out of the Blue. It shows how timeless the ELO tracks are. Jeff has done some solo work - I've posted some on the Lost Planet Radio page. Every album goes in a slightly different direction. The "classic" ELO era was mostly the 70's and early '80s. That "era" ended in 1986 with the Balance of Power album. Then Jeff did all the work with the Beatles, Petty, Harrison, the Wilburys. But he started recording under the ELO banner again in 2001 and continues today. There's been teases that a new album is being worked on. He likes to do everything himself now, all the music and vocals. Enjoy!

Gonna say it one more time... a must see is the LIVE performance of "Telephone Line" at Wembley Stadium...is is awesome, and you will see ALL of the players in Jeff Lynn's ELO !!
ALSO... there is a live performance of "As My Guitar Gently Weeps"... a George Harrison classic song..in this performance, there are so many superstars! Jeff Lynn, Prince, George Harrisons son..I can't remember his name plays guitar and looks dead on his father, Tom Petty, Steve Windwood..it is a great performance...I believe it was a tribute to George..watch it..it is awesome.

Look up the facts about Jeff Lynne when you bring up the Traveling Wilburys. The person also in the group is George Harrison. The reason he is a part of the Traveling Wilburys is because Jeff Lynne is from England and they are very close friends. The reason they are very close is that before Jeff Lynne started ELO, he was the producer for the Beatles . He produced a bunch of the Beatles songs. A lot of people call Jeff Lynne the fifth Beatle. If you listen to Horace Wimp from Jeff Lynne, you will hear some similarities from the Beatles and ELO in some of their songs.

"Livin' Thing", "Do Ya", "Telephone Line", "Sweet Talkin' Woman", "Don't Bring Me Down", "Can't Get It Out of My Head" are all worthy. You're definitely not giving enough credit to the rest of the band.
