What is it like to own a BMW M2, specifically one with a manual transmission? I spent some time with Matt (IG: @offwhite.R8) to find out! He has the very cool perspective of having owned and currently own some of the best driver focused M cars of the last few decades. Everything from an M4 comp to the top of the line F80 M3 CS to a few E36 M3s and an E46 M3. I have recently driven the new M2 CS and I absolutely loved it, but Matt feels that the base M2 is the right option in the lineup. I've owned this car for 2 months, and i've got to say for the value(especially if it wasn't covid the price would be around 40k), it is such a steal, Looks amazing, the curves and styling of this car is sexy from head to toe, handles really good for a rwd car, sounds amazing, and looks very modern for its time, looking at it now you'd still think it's a brand new car, i love it, this is the first time i've owned a car and didn't instantly feel the need to throw an exhaust on, and in a 6speed manual, u just fall in love, not to mention 365+ hp, this things the full package, no car offers this much positives for a good value, this is by far my favorite car i've ever owned, i will admit if the comp sounded better i would've gotten them, regardless i love my choice!
What do you think about this vs the 2023 Nissan Z? I have a choice to make...
@@cosmic_gate476 it's a great car, i feel like the Z seems more artificial and not as real sounding, this car sounds great, drives great and makes good power, but it's really preference i feel like they are both similar somewhat , z is just newer but m2 has wide body to it🤷🏻♂️
@@KareemKayy I would get an exhaust for either so sound not a huge deal, it's mainly cost (Z will be 60k CAD new vs the m2 will be 50k CAD for a 2017-2018 model with around 40,000km on it). The m2 is more practical and rear seats (I'm single so not a huge deal either way) while the Z looks better to me and probably longer lifespan (I want to keep my car long term). Either will be my only daily car in Canada both winter and summer, though my dads SUV can be used on a really shitty winter day. What should I go for? Will the used BMW cost so much to own that the price diff doesn't matter?
@@cosmic_gate476 it's your prefrence bro, i think get warranty if anything, but id like to think the M2 is a diff class of car, i've only had it for 8 months and i'm selling it because i want something more affordable, but if that isn't an issue to you id say get it, it's the most fun car i've ever owned, i love it so much and it def has to be tuned, stock doesn't feel crazy fast

I would love to try an OG m2 one day so I can compare it to my comp. OG owners always have their reasons why the OG is better which is usually how it sounds but also never heard anyone that went from the OG to the comp ever say they liked the OG better, they all say that apart from sound the comp is better in every way.

Facts. I have never come across someone who sold their OG M2 in order to buy the M2 Competition and hated it. Aside from the sound I think the 2021 M2 Competition is a solids vehicle
What parts were you guys referring to as "stamped carbon plastic"?? All the dry CF on the interior - dash, console - is real CF.

Cool video, I have owned 7 BMW M cars, a couple of E46 M3's, E90 M3, 1 Series M, Z3M Coupe plus a M2, all manual transmissions. The original M2 is still a great used buy today, think of it as the successor to the E46 M3. Same size but a modern version of it. I launched my channel with my M2 back in 2016. Almost no depreciation the first two years until supply caught up with demand.

I have a N55 M2 just like this one and a complaint I would add is that I don’t like the seats for any sort of spirited driving. I changed the drivers seat for a Cobra Nogaro bucket seat.
I'd say it depends on the build of the driver... I've tweaked my seat to suit me perfectly. Sure, there's probably better race seats but for a good mix of daily comfort and spirited driving, it's fine for me.

Disappointed you guys did talk about M2C more...cool vid tho. I have same shifter. Why not go with Akrapovic exhaust? Once you fix the exhaust on comp I think it’s the best m car ever
I’ve got an M2 Comp with a manual. No way Id trade it for a N55 M2 though. It feels like a completely different car imho
Having owned an OG M2 in DCT and now an M2 CS in 6spd, the M2 CS is much better value at its price than the OG M2 is at its price. They don't even feel like the same car from a handling/steering perspective, and the ride quality is significantly better in the CS.
I really liked the adaptive dampers!
The only thing that bugs me is the s55 noise, it just isn’t any where near as good as the n55. The electric steering is quite impressive not the same as hydraulic but pretty solid.

idk , a car can drive good but for practically double the price? i don't think so, at that point id just get a porsche, 100k+ on the lowest series bmw(regardless of the drive) is way too much 🤷🏻♂️
Yeah no, the CS is not worth over twice the price.
If you knew how hard it is to even get a GT3 even if you could afford it you would understand why you would get and enjoy a GT4. They are also allocated but easier than a GT3. The allocation system for Porsche is crazy! Especially for the top dog GT3, GT3RS.
I like the sound and feel of the regular M2 but I ended up buying a Comp. The tuning potential had me sold on S55. Compared to my E46 M3, neither OG or Comp M2 can swing in fun department.
