- The plaintiff rented a room in the defendant's apartment. The plaintiff alleges the defendant ransacked her room, rearranged her belongings, and even physically attacked her. The plaintiff moved out before something really bad happened. She's suing for a rent refund and security. The defendant explains she was only inspecting the plaintiff's unpacking. In terms of the attack, the defendant insists the plaintiff first threatened her with a pair of scissors.

No one is saying this so I will. There is a pattern here of the victims being 2 asian women with heavy accents. The defendant thought they would be easy prey but glad they teamed up and went after her.

That’s exactly what I thought. To me that makes what she did even worse. Preying on people she feels would be ignorant to the law.

She picks them young, ignorant of American laws and culture (I would have called the cops the minute that woman started shuffling through my stuff), and not entirely fluent in English. She charges them 3 months rent and either refuses to let them move in at all or harasses them until they leave....and if that doesn't work, she physically assaults them, then whines about being a feeble old woman.

@@mirsan6705 suing individual people is a waste of time and money because u will never actually collect if u win the lawsuit , they usually dont have a job on the books and they take all their money out of the bank so there is nothing to garnish or take from them , but small claims judges have to make a living so they will never admit to people that the majority of judgements are NEVER PAID .

Did you see the landlord smirk at the very end of the hearing when the judge said that it was a systematic scheme on her part to drive the tenants crazy so they move and she can keep their deposit. I could see it in her eyes that she knew she had been had. That's exactly what she's doing I am so happy that the young lady was able to successfully prove her case and expose this woman this needs to stop! Shame on that lady for treating those girls like that
many other types of shady business deals follow this pattern : get money up front , irritate customer until customer backs out of agreement , keep the up front money and move on to the next sucker .

Those girls seemed so sweet and kind. You can tell it was emotional for them to be there and the fact that they just wanted what was RIGHT and JUST to happen was amazing.
When I saw this episode was almost 27 minutes long, I buckled in for a show and it did NOT disappoint. This might be one of the best episodes ever. This crazy defendant needed to be exposed! Glad the Plaintiff won her case and made sure to mention it was a rent stabilized apartment.
The defendant kept the best for last.
This is the type of show I will miss! The new scripted show won't be able to replicate this type of craziness

@@molokomongalo6003 it means that the tenant has been paying the same rent for quite some time. Like YEARS. Meaning it didn't go up during the inflation increases over time. Her rent is probably $400-600 or something like that. She's been only paying a tiny amount, and then charging potential unknowing roommates double, triple, quadruple to live there (most likely illegal), and then making the place so unbearable, they are forced to leave early, and she keeps their money because they "broke the lease." Quite the grifter. If you're into "Sex and the City" there was an episode where Carrie was talking about her apartment. She was paying $400/month for her rent-controlled apartment, but she had spent so much money on shoes that she couldn't afford to buy her apartment from her ex and Charlotte bailed her out by giving her an old engagement ring to help fund it.

Judges usually want you to keep your mouth shut bc you're winning. Glad JM allowed additional testimony. The defendant needs to be stopped before someone seriously hurt her.
