It wasn’t just the skill level, it was the difference between the dream team and every other team the world could put up against it. Even with a pure better team, the 2024 team is not winning before they even step on the court like in 92.
Team USA 2024 is filled with players that are injury prone. If they matched up against The Dream Team 1992, Magic Johnson, Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, Patrick Ewing & Scottie Pippen would be getting easy inside buckets. Every possession would practically be an And-1. When there’s an intentional foul in today’s game it is not as aggressive as it was in the 90’s. An intentional foul on A.D, KD & Embiid would have them wanting to sit on the bench.
Lebron Curry and maybe Durant would be the only players who would make the old team, and that is because of Laettner Mullin and Stockton
Lost all credibility at Jason Tatum being better than Pippen and I am a huge Tatum fan who was telling people to watch out for him back in 2017.
Bam, Haliburton, Holiday, and White are all better than Laettner, but no one else on ‘92.
Ewing’s ‘92 stats are identical to ‘24 Davis, 24 and 12. Of course, he was blocking like 4 shots a game instead of 2. He was also still in his 20s and playing 81 games a season.
And the 92 team is much bigger!

People aren't realistic, yes the Dream Team was great. But international level if play has increased in 30 years and the level of athleticism is higher now. This USA team today would beat the dream team, thats just a fact. Its not a slight to the Dream Team tho
This team is not in the same realm as the 1992 team which had NBA advanced stats (BPM) 42% higher than this team. You’d need LeBron, KD, Curry, and Jrue at their peaks to approach the Dream Team. This team almost lost twice save for Curry’s lights out shooting in the 4th. I’m glad he was the hero this being his only Olympics,. The competition is better now but not that much. None of these teams are 35 win teams in the NBA.
