    I used to be on this back in the day but got off the moment that I read the results of a study suggesting that while Zetia lowered cholesterol numbers, it did not lead to either a decrease or even stabilization of any sort in the thickness of plaque in the arteries. I had been taking this instead of a statin - but then switched instead to Zocor (and have now been on Atorvastatin for the past decade).
    I now start my day instead with serrapeptase, which has a reputation for dissolving inorganic substances - in the hope that it will reduce plaque. I also take a concentrated high-dose fish oil supplement - but the dosage is nowhere close to that of the new prescription drug whose trial you reported on the other day. My POV is that if a Zetia-like drug is either not reducing the level of plaque or taming the inflammation within the body, there's no reason to take it.

    Dr. Ritter, as I have mentioned previously in another post, I had a rather mild heart attack a little over 4 years ago --- at 53 --- but still had to have a triple CABG.
    About 3 months ago my cardiologist added 10 mg Ezetimibe to the 40 mg Rosuvastatin I had been taking since the CABG.
    Initially, after having my CABG, he said: "Ideally I would like your LDL to be 70, but I'll take 100 or less." Heretofore, I have been only on Rosuvastatin these 4 + years.
    My last blood test showed LDL to be 96. I see him again in March, so I am going to ask him why he changed his mind on the "100 or less LDL" and added Ezetimibe. I suspect it is because I recently was told I had a "change" in my ST, so I surmise that may be why Ezetimibe was and added.
    As concerns myself, I have not noticed ANY side effects with Rosuvastatin or Ezetimibe.

    • @CardioGauge
      @CardioGauge  4 года назад

      The Guidelines got rewritten about a year and a half ago, and they (the Cardiology Trade Organizations) changed the recommendation for people in your shoes to include ezetimibe to try to get LDL under 70, whereas prior to that, the guidelines just said do rosuvastatin 20 or 40 or atorvastatin 40 or 80.
      I doubt it has anything to do with the ST segment.

    I have been doing my own research on statin and cholesterol studies performed during the past 10 years or so and that were not industry funded. There are numerous studies indicating that LDL is not the culprit for CVD and therefore, statins do not treat the cause of this disease. I got off Atorvastatin but remain on Zetia and am on the fence about whether to continue it as well. I wish I could see a debate between a couple of cardiologists regarding whether LDL is the main factor in CVD or whether we are treating CVD incorrectly for all these years. And, I do not want to hear from big pharma or their many sponsored studies on the subject as they clearly have incentives to ensure as many people as possible are put on statins. I just want the truth and it is hard to find. Thanks for the video as I remain open minded on the subject and you shared some good info.
