That was fabulous. It is so refreshing in this age to have a professional tell it like it is.
The camera never blinks, and you most certainly passed with flying colors, doctor.
I am not worried about my high cholesterol. Older adults with high levels live longer than those with artificially lowered cholesterol. Look up the studies. Cholesterol is of major importance in regulating our immune system. Every cell in our body has a cholesterol need including and especially our brain. You must consider relative risk vs absolute risk when assessing studies that claim that statins are “ the bomb”. Also, since EVERYONE is on a statin, why is it that heart disease is still the number one killer in America. Huh? Doesn’t make sense.
I am so glad someone wrote this comment. Its what I wanted to say but was too lazy to take the time to do. We do need more doctors to get with it and learn the truth about Cholesterol.
You're absolutely correct!!!
I 100% agree with you!
That's because doctors are trained in Rockefeller medicine. Dirty up the body with 💉💊 then they have a solution.
Can't agree more.
I always believed in red yest rice. I told my doctor that I wanted to try red yest rice first before I went on a stain, The next time he checked my blood it was so much better, He asked again what was I taking. He wrote it down. It works,
How did you take it ?
Which brand of red yeast and what’s strength to take per day?
@audreypistor4610 ~ May 2024 - Can you update us here? There are some questions in the comments. Are you still feeling well & has your blood levels stayed low? 🥰
I have had a lot of success lowering my LDL with Praluent, a PCSK9 inhibitor. Should I continue taking red yeast rice? I have been taking it for years, but I didn't realize tht the brands differed so drastically until I saw your video.
4 kind Hinds of ldl, fluffy, intermediate or medium chained, small particle and micro particle LDL
so they have you injecting a drug called Repatha , I would never take that crap ,its so unnatural
Thank you for this information. My doctor just suggested this supplement today, and this was helpful.
Thank so much very helpful. Thank you for your time.
Over a decade ago, I delved into this path and invested in red yeast rice supplements without success, having spent hundreds. I discovered that the US Drug Administration restricts even traces of Lovastatin in these pills. Are the pills you mention available in America? As of my last check a decade ago, I could purchase actual red yeast rice from a Chinese grocery store without US regulatory intervention. However, the repackaging process in these stores introduces uncertainty about the content. I still have some from that time, which I grind into powder for coloring in cooking. Despite doctors giving up on me due to high cholesterol and elevated CK levels, I'm serious about my question: Do your recommended supplements contain Lovastatin, and how did they navigate US Drug Administration scrutiny? Additionally, have you explored the option of using actual red yeast rice? Thank you in advance.
Thank you very much for this information and the recommendations. I am at 190 LDL and 60 HDL - - it might be genetic but I need to try something other than a statin. My mother got dementia while on a statin and she also had the muscle problems. I went ahead and ordered the Cholestene and a Vitacost non-flushing niacin also. What do you think of taking niacin to help lower cholesterol? I’ve also heard about Berberine but I’ll try these two first. Thank you!
There is no such thing as being genetic. Read the book Epigenetics by Dr. Wallach, it proves it. Dr. Wallach was nominated for the Nobel prize in medicine. Has yours?

Hi, thanks for your information, i have a question how long do you have your take the red yeast before getting results in your bloodwork? I am diabetic type 1, eat a vegan low fat low/no sugar whole foods diet. My cholesterol is still too high amd i am not overweight. Dr. Keeps nagging me about statines but I don’t want to put chemicals into a healthy body with super healthy diet and lifestyle. She said i could let blood checked next year or optional every 4 months so wondering when i would see results.
It should only take 2 weeks to see the results. Great question!

What about for people that are on a Blood Thinner, like Xarelto.

My doctor put me on meds for high cholesterol. I am 79. I saw some negative things going on in my body and memory. I took myself off the meds and it took some time but my memory is getting so much better. My thoughts on those numbers supplied for the blood tests are a bunch of crap. I told my doctor that if they would stop changing the numbers, there would be a lot less people doing the pill highway. I feel good and whatever happens I want to enjoy the rest of my life.
Is this true? I'd love to use red yeast rice!
I am doing just that. Getting off these meds that are causing me issues big time. Can’t believe I even started taking meds of such Statins! Over it. Wishing you well here. ❤

True, but for the disabled and pain sufferers among us, Red Yeast Rice might be the only viable option.
It depends on your genes. I am extremely fit with body fat less than 10%, yet my ldl is sky high without a statin.
My cholesterol level 260 after diet ,eating healthy food, most them to lower my cholesterol and I did exercise..after 3 months going down 189 ..😊
Did your Dr want you to take statins and what all did you eat and drink?
What healthy food did you eat?
Fantastic! Well done, you.
You have to learn about colesterol before you talk about it! Your colesterol levels being lower after eating as you say, eat healty and exercise is not the reason, you can't influense your colesterol very much, not with food anyway, your liver makes the colesterol the body need! You can reduce this with statins not with food! . The total colesterol level in body changes all the time, based upon what your body needs. This is partycularly important to know, to understand how important colesterol is for the body and cell function. The brain eks contains almost 30% colesterol, used to serve the neurons. Colesterol is 100% your freind, not enemy. Just ask and i will tell you more about colesterol!

@@Kjuken69 and you have to learn how to spell cholesterol LOL, sorry, just kidding
But isnt a cholesterol just a symptom? Shouldnt we look for a reason and ghen treat it, maybe liver disfunction or lack of pancreatic enzymes ?
Dr. Robert Lustig says high LDL is a symptom of insulin resistance
Good point!
It's mostly diet or genetics
I only had raised liver enzymes after being unable to tolerate any statin, so my cholesterol remained elevated hence causing the liver issue...meaning I had no liver dysfunction or problem with pancreatic enzymes either so I would tend to agree more with genetics having inherited my Fathers' cholesterol profile despite a healthy diet and exercise as I knew the possible risk factor I may encounter as I got older
Mine is genetic, from both parents. It is familial, so it's going to be with me no matter what. But hearing about RYR has piqued my interest. I am currently in poor health so very scared to try something so powerful that might set me back even more, but something MUST be done and it won't be by using statins!
Stop worrying about cholesterol. The medical establishment need to do their research. We’ve been lied to about this, among other things.
Agree! Our food industry doesn't help in being transparent either.
I always talk to my pharmacist. I believe pharmacist knows more than doctors about medicine because when doctors go to school, they’re not taught about medicine so maybe they really don’t know, but the pharmacist always tells me the truth.
Hello Doctor, my question is: after starting this suplement, when I can expect the first visible results, and this is not because I'm in hurry, bit just because I want to have all the answers with me, when I take the subject to my cholesterol doctor,

Cholesterol does not appear dangerous if it does not collect in the arteries. Sugar makes cholesterol sticky and collects in arteries.
Thanks for this insight. I haven’t had sugar for two months and I feel twenty years younger.
Lp(a) cholesterol is a very sticky cholesterol that is genetically inherited. I wish more doctors would test for it.
I have to kick the sugar I add to my tea, especially as I drink around 10 cups per day.

@@zazita7333it’s not about wishing! It’s intentionally not done for profit. Just checking cholesterol number doesn’t tell u that much, but it DOES get ALL people lumped together and on statins!!

Side effect of Lipitor is Diabetes. Also, memory problems!!!
Red yeast rice is in Lovastatin. One of the first statins to be marketed. It works the same way as today's statins inhibiting the mavalonate pathway, thus reducing cholesterol. Its not as strong as today's statins making it less likely to encounter the side effects.
What are statin side effects..I’ve been on statins since my 30’s and what could my side effects be?
@@speaktruth9313 The primary side effect people complain about is debilitating muscle pain and weakness. Along with that is a 100 mile long list of side effects. That makes sense since cholesterol is a vital substance that serves multiple purposes in good health. Here is just one. Cholesterol plays a role in the formation of the protective layer over our nerve pathways.
I had to stop all the statins I was put on by my Dr as they very quickly caused debilitating lumbar back pain to the point I couldn't bend to put my jeans on without crying in pain from excruciating pain...lift my arm up to blow dry even my short hair, I had bad rib pain...and this happened with every statin and even with a drug that can be used to lower cholesterol but is not its main function (it started with an E…sorry I can't remember the name just the pain I got from it) as a last resort till I had to stop taking that too...one chemist I went to here in West Australia I randomly saw a sign advertising co enzyme Q10, but I have yet to check that out… It was interesting as it said are you one of those people who suffer from muscle aches whilst on statins?...at the time I wasn't on a statin, but my parents were, but I am an RN and as I got older I ended up with the same cholesterol profile as my Father...ironically both parents had no issues with atorvastatin or Lipitor as it is commonly called here. I did get referred to a cholesterol clinic at my local tertiary hospital run by a cardiologist...at the time I was recovering from a craniotomy for a removal of an acoustic neuroma...a benign tumour on my auditory nerve and was dealing with chronic headaches, so I ended up losing a significant amount of weight...walking up and down a corridor in the oncology clinic I worked at and not eating very much due to the chronic pain I had, and it had the effect of lowering my cholesterol as I dropped to an Australian size 6 from a size 14...my cardiologist thought I had weight loss surgery I looked so different…my answer was no I've been unwell...after 4 years of working 2 days a week the pain got so bad I had to retire due to ill health and with better pain control of course some of the weight has come back, but I was surprised at my DRS reaction when I said I was eating the plant sterol margarine... Red yeast rice products that contain significant amounts of monacolin K can have the same potential side effects as statin drugs, including muscle, kidney, and liver damage.
Which type of LDL does it lower, refering to the particle size. Is it Apo A or Apo B ?
THAT is the question 👏🏻
Cholesterol has so many important functions .... So why lower it and risk death ... one job of cholesterol never (almost) talked about is that cholesterol kills and lowers fungus .... fungus which causes arterial blockage .... so if we get fungus .... then cholesterol goes up to help us remove the fungus ... therefore lowering cholesterol can be dangerous ... and high cholesterol patients (PAYtient$) live LONGER ...
THANK YOU.. THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO I HAVE SEEN ON HIGH CHOLESTEROL.
Except the link to a specific product is like trying to sell something. and according to WEBMD and other professional websites, red yeast rice is just as dangerous as statins: muscle weakness, cramps with kidney problems to boot.
Interesting. I bet how this works so well isn’t just the lovastatin. I bet the extra components of the fermented red rice, feed the good gut batería that then helps lower your cholesterol.
It works the same way blocking the mevalonate metabolic pathway just like a statin drug. The difference is its milder than todays powerful statin drugs and the risk of side effects are minimal.

The white matter in your brain and testosterone is mostly cholesterol. You can't tell me cholesterol is bad for you. It's the calcium in your blood that gets together with cholesterol if you don't get vitamin K2 that makes it plaque. With K2, the calcium goes out of your blood and into the bones where it belongs.
Thank you very much for the information Doctor. Trying to parse out the latest research and recommendations is a full time job in of itself. Shouldn't we making a distinction between LDL's and VLDL's in terms of overall cardiovascular risks? It is my understanding that VLDL's due to their small dense structure, lack of buoyancy and oxidation potential are the real culprits but, only in the presence of gross injury. Statins, as I understand them, do very little to have a meaningful impact on absolute risk reduction with regards to VLDL's. Will simply lowering LDL's through any supplementation mitigate risk so long as endothelium injury continues?
Ive tried red yeast rice and it did lower my cholesterol VERY MUCH but unfortunately it gave me serious muscle pain, to the point I felt like I was with a flu (muscle pain, prostration). I reduced the dose but it didn’t work, so I stopped. Any suggestion?

@@drdaveclayton Thanks, but I believe sterols reduce the absortion of ingested cholesterol, and my problem is not with ingested cholesterol but that which is produced by my organism. Thank you so much for this video. I looked quickly at both of the supplements at the end for the video. It looks like Sylvan Wellness, Red Yeast Rice has Carrageenan as an other ingredient, I'm trying to avoid this ingredient as there have been some reports of possible inflammation to cancer?
Just buy the Red Yeast Rice in powder form. Measure the amount you need -- doesn't need to be encapsuled but put w/ applesauce or a thick juice like tomato, carrot, or a blender-made drink.
Because caragean ? Are you asking if caragean can give you cancer ? Thank you
It works great lowered my cholesterol from 250 to under 200
How long did it take?
Nattokinase works well too.
I’ve been working At getting my blood sugar down and low and behold my cholesterol went down too. Ldl dropped 45 points and hDL even went up! Limited sugary foods and processed foods. More paleo/keto leaning. My A1c dropped into the normal range too. Yay
I'm happy to hear about your health improvements! Any particular tips or part of the video that helped you? I'd love to hear about it.
Thanks for this advice Dr.
some time ago after research I dumped my Statins in the bin to my Doctors
disbelief.
The only thing that concerns me is the Yeast in the product.
Would that spike the level of Urate in my blood which knowingly causes Gout?
Don't blame the doctor. He can only believe what the pharmaceutical salesmen tell him and also must follow the "Standard of Care".
I'm a field medic and I must follow the SoC for my level whether it's the best thing in the moment or not.
Why would you lower cholesterol in the first place…higher is better …not lower ……is triglycerides ..that’s the problem…. Old school, look at the science…that’s why MD’s should go to Naturopathic classes….
NOt when you are over 250-
Wish it worker on me. Red yeast rice caused muscle pain on me. 😢
100% TRUE, doctor said my lifestyle changes is not helping its genetic 😢
From South
I took Red Yeast Rice for over 9 months. It did not lower my cholesterol. I read some brands remove the cholesterol benefits. HeartShape sounds good. Great video.
I tried to, too, and it did not worked
try life extension brand
All it did for my was make my bilirubin go up.
Dr Clayton. I am surprised how doctors are not concerned about the disruption of the crucial Mavelonate Pathway by statin and RYR. RYR is all about statin and some varieties even have mycotoxin in them. Mavelonate Pathway produces so much life giving biolites like CoQ10, Heme, terpenoids, Vit K2, and in the cholesterol forming branch, squalene (keeps our skin healthy), lanosterol (for our eyes) among others. Why do you turn a blind eye to the congenital disease called Mavelonate Kinase Deficiency syndrome that renders children stunted for those who are so unfortunate to have them?
my family doctor wont discuss supplements with me except to say one thing...I do so at my own risk.Since supplements are unregulated as to what they contain doctors here are not allowed to discuss their use with their patients...this is in Canada and applies to Canadian physicians
Oh noooo...not one of THOSE doctors
time for a new doctor
Also... they are not trained in nutrition.
Go as food based as possible. Check for testing!! Where its made. I think all of our meds/vaccines are MADE IN CHINA. proceed with caution.
My GP googles what I tell her and is quite happy to discuss it. She was happy for me to take red yeast rice supplements, and agreed that I would have liver and kidney function tests as I would if I was taking a statin. I’m in Australia.
I took it for 6 months and didn't make any difference. Also, stating are like $11 for 90 days , red yeast is 5-10 times the cost.
but we have to address the basic question: Where is the causation correlation between Cholersterol and CVD ? I see tons research pointing to "correlation." Trees sway when there is storm. But does holding the trees firm stop the storm? PLUS WHAT IF THE HIGH CHOLESTEROL IS INDEED NEEDED AT THAT POINT?
Will Berberine do the same thing?
Berberine is goven to lower blood sugar
I heard that it lowers cholesterol as well , is it TRUE
From South Africa
I take it and feel so good afterwards. It could be a blood sugar issue.
OMgosh...many blessings Dr.Clayton!🙏💝
Doe anyone have any info on this supplement: Emerald Labs Cholesterol Health - Featuring CoQ10, Flush-Free Niacin, RYR-VA, and Garlic for Heart and Circulatory Support.
stay away. go with known braands. life extension the best
I take Niacin. It helps me. No side effect
Me too。
I begin taking it too
How much do you take?
Niacin gives you hot flashes
I have had very high cholesterol for 30 years .l turned down the pills because it’s out of date.
You turned down statins?
And how high is your cholesterol?
I don't think anybody is checking anybody in the USA anymore. The CDC and FDA are despicable. 25% of the country got hooked on Oxycontin. Dog food is even more toxic and not monitored. We are currently treating our dog for elevated liver enzymes and low albumin. We think it came from a brand of dog food we bought at WalMart. What about beta sitosterols and CoQ10? Do they work?
Thank you Doctor Dave for this wonderful information. Many people will be saved and helped with this knowledge
Is Jarrow or and Life Extension brand good brands to take?
I was just given a prescription for Atorvastatin but I have not even opened it yet. Now, after seeing this video, I ordered the Red Yeast Rice supplements. The sups have to be safer that the statin, especially after reading the horrible list of side-effects and patient reviews. I will not be taking the statin.
So please show us the double blind clinical trials that show conclusively, not just a correlation, high LDL causes heart disease. Then I may fear high LDL. Until then I won't.
so if RYR can lower LDLs 20% and I am a consistent exerciser (6 days per week, HIIT, cardio, yoga, etc) are the effects cumulative? Does that 20% add to the 10% reduction from exercising to equal a 30% reduction in LDL's. Also what are ways to raise HDL's? My HDLs run in the 50s and I'm a 63 year old woman, however my LDLs have been stable in the low 200s and I can't get them to budge.
I just placed an order and do you suggest taking a Coq10 supplement as well? Thanks!
Excellent video. I’ve used Red Yeast Rice Supplement for years now and it has helped me lower my cholesterol
Thanks for watching! Glad to hear your success w RYR.
Lipicept has CLINICALLY Proven Ingredients that lower Cholesterol better than ANYTHING!!(BY HCP Formulas in Phoenix). LIPICEPT isTotally Safe. Statins Kill. They damage Muscle Tissue and the Heart. They cause Diabetes. They Dissolve your Brain which is mostly DHA. Statins Dissolve DHA and should be Outlawed as Quack, USELESS, Dangerous Drugs. Never talk to any Doctor about Nutraceuticals and Nutrition; they know next to nothing about BOTH!!! They are Overtly Hostile to Nutraceuticals and Supplements and ARE F.D.A . and Big Pharma Brain Washed. Never talk to any Doctor about anything Nutritional-NEVER!! They think Egg Yolks are Bad. ANY M.D. who writes a Script for a Station Drug SHOULD get Hollow Point in His/Her Brain!!!
Do you mind charing more about réd yeast Rice you take? how much, which dosage? do you still take it every day? how much your cholesterol went down? Thank you in advance.
Don't lower cholesterol too low!
My husband has successfully taken RYR for about 10 years because his body couldn't tolerate the statin drugs. He tried several but broke out in rashes. Our doctor was very happy to see that his cholesterol went into the normal range and after watching for 1 year, our doc decided to try this with other patients who couldn't tolerate statins.
He takes the standard dosage, measured out and added into some tomato juice. It won't dissolve in water. He's never had any issues with the supplement powder of RYR. Glad it works for you too!!
Dr Andrew Weil has suggested this as well. Yep works
Fantastic video, thank you! I’m generally healthy (48F, 5’7, 121 lbs, BMI 18.9), but my LDL & total cholesterol levels are atrocious (close to 300😭). It runs in my family and definitely genetic. I already eat healthy and work out every day. I do NOT want to take statins. I have been adding a lot more fiber to my diet. I have been seeing a lot that Bergamot and red yeast rice are good supplements to take, so I will be trying them as well. What I really appreciate is that you are very specific (what brands, how much to take, and when best to take it). Invaluable info. Excited to add this to my stack and recheck my cholesterol in 2 months to see if there is any improvement.
Just wanted to ask, will red yeast rice negatively impact triglycerides or HDL? My numbers here are borderline bad (140 trigs, 58 HDL), so I don’t want to take anything that will lower HDL or increase trigs. Thank you!🙏🏻
