I am not worried about my high cholesterol. Older adults with high levels live longer than those with artificially lowered cholesterol. Look up the studies. Cholesterol is of major importance in regulating our immune system. Every cell in our body has a cholesterol need including and especially our brain. You must consider relative risk vs absolute risk when assessing studies that claim that statins are “ the bomb”. Also, since EVERYONE is on a statin, why is it that heart disease is still the number one killer in America. Huh? Doesn’t make sense.

Over a decade ago, I delved into this path and invested in red yeast rice supplements without success, having spent hundreds. I discovered that the US Drug Administration restricts even traces of Lovastatin in these pills. Are the pills you mention available in America? As of my last check a decade ago, I could purchase actual red yeast rice from a Chinese grocery store without US regulatory intervention. However, the repackaging process in these stores introduces uncertainty about the content. I still have some from that time, which I grind into powder for coloring in cooking. Despite doctors giving up on me due to high cholesterol and elevated CK levels, I'm serious about my question: Do your recommended supplements contain Lovastatin, and how did they navigate US Drug Administration scrutiny? Additionally, have you explored the option of using actual red yeast rice? Thank you in advance.

Thank you very much for this information and the recommendations. I am at 190 LDL and 60 HDL - - it might be genetic but I need to try something other than a statin. My mother got dementia while on a statin and she also had the muscle problems. I went ahead and ordered the Cholestene and a Vitacost non-flushing niacin also. What do you think of taking niacin to help lower cholesterol? I’ve also heard about Berberine but I’ll try these two first. Thank you!

Dr. Keeps nagging me about statines but I don’t want to put chemicals into a healthy body with super healthy diet and lifestyle. I took myself off the meds and it took some time but my memory is getting so much better. My thoughts on those numbers supplied for the blood tests are a bunch of crap. You have to learn about colesterol before you talk about it! Your colesterol levels being lower after eating as you say, eat healty and exercise is not the reason, you can't influense your colesterol very much, not with food anyway, your liver makes the colesterol the body need! You can reduce this with statins not with food! . The total colesterol level in body changes all the time, based upon what your body needs. This is partycularly important to know, to understand how important colesterol is for the body and cell function. The brain eks contains almost 30% colesterol, used to serve the neurons. Colesterol is 100% your freind, not enemy. Just ask and i will tell you more about colesterol!

The white matter in your brain and testosterone is mostly cholesterol. You can't tell me cholesterol is bad for you. It's the calcium in your blood that gets together with cholesterol if you don't get vitamin K2 that makes it plaque. With K2, the calcium goes out of your blood and into the bones where it belongs.

Thank you very much for the information Doctor. Trying to parse out the latest research and recommendations is a full time job in of itself. Shouldn't we making a distinction between LDL's and VLDL's in terms of overall cardiovascular risks? It is my understanding that VLDL's due to their small dense structure, lack of buoyancy and oxidation potential are the real culprits but, only in the presence of gross injury. Statins, as I understand them, do very little to have a meaningful impact on absolute risk reduction with regards to VLDL's. Will simply lowering LDL's through any supplementation mitigate risk so long as endothelium injury continues?

Statins- my dad is 80 years old and he’s been on a statin drug. I don’t know how long. But he has muscle aches terribly. And lately he’s been telling me his legs feel like they’re dying and they don’t want to move. Now he has brothers and sisters that are not on statins that have lived to be 90 and are still alive. I really don’t think he’s gonna live as long as his brothers and sisters. My dad is on 14 medication‘s for high blood pressure, heart problems, diabetes. And The honest truth, I don’t think he needs to be on any of it. If it were me, I would’ve never started taking them, but I would just go off of everything. He feels so bad all the time. And this is been going on for 20 years. He’s on three meds for blood pressure, his statin, a blood thinner, metformin, etc. When he changes a doctor, the new doctors never reevaluate his health. They just continue on with the same medication that he tells them that he’s on from the past Dr.. Our medical system is so broken.

Dr Clayton. I am surprised how doctors are not concerned about the disruption of the crucial Mavelonate Pathway by statin and RYR. RYR is all about statin and some varieties even have mycotoxin in them. Mavelonate Pathway produces so much life giving biolites like CoQ10, Heme, terpenoids, Vit K2, and in the cholesterol forming branch, squalene (keeps our skin healthy), lanosterol (for our eyes) among others. Why do you turn a blind eye to the congenital disease called Mavelonate Kinase Deficiency syndrome that renders children stunted for those who are so unfortunate to have them?

My GP googles what I tell her and is quite happy to discuss it. She was happy for me to take red yeast rice supplements, and agreed that I would have liver and kidney function tests as I would if I was taking a statin. I’m in Australia.

I took it for 6 months and didn't make any difference. Also, stating are like $11 for 90 days , red yeast is 5-10 times the cost.

but we have to address the basic question: Where is the causation correlation between Cholersterol and CVD ? I see tons research pointing to "correlation." Trees sway when there is storm. But does holding the trees firm stop the storm? PLUS WHAT IF THE HIGH CHOLESTEROL IS INDEED NEEDED AT THAT POINT?

I don't think anybody is checking anybody in the USA anymore. The CDC and FDA are despicable. 25% of the country got hooked on Oxycontin. Dog food is even more toxic and not monitored. We are currently treating our dog for elevated liver enzymes and low albumin. We think it came from a brand of dog food we bought at WalMart. What about beta sitosterols and CoQ10? Do they work?

I was just given a prescription for Atorvastatin but I have not even opened it yet. Now, after seeing this video, I ordered the Red Yeast Rice supplements. The sups have to be safer that the statin, especially after reading the horrible list of side-effects and patient reviews. I will not be taking the statin.

So please show us the double blind clinical trials that show conclusively, not just a correlation, high LDL causes heart disease. Then I may fear high LDL. Until then I won't.

so if RYR can lower LDLs 20% and I am a consistent exerciser (6 days per week, HIIT, cardio, yoga, etc) are the effects cumulative? Does that 20% add to the 10% reduction from exercising to equal a 30% reduction in LDL's. Also what are ways to raise HDL's? My HDLs run in the 50s and I'm a 63 year old woman, however my LDLs have been stable in the low 200s and I can't get them to budge.

Lipicept has CLINICALLY Proven Ingredients that lower Cholesterol better than ANYTHING!!(BY HCP Formulas in Phoenix). LIPICEPT isTotally Safe. Statins Kill. They damage Muscle Tissue and the Heart. They cause Diabetes. They Dissolve your Brain which is mostly DHA. Statins Dissolve DHA and should be Outlawed as Quack, USELESS, Dangerous Drugs. Never talk to any Doctor about Nutraceuticals and Nutrition; they know next to nothing about BOTH!!! They are Overtly Hostile to Nutraceuticals and Supplements and ARE F.D.A . and Big Pharma Brain Washed. Never talk to any Doctor about anything Nutritional-NEVER!! They think Egg Yolks are Bad. ANY M.D. who writes a Script for a Station Drug SHOULD get Hollow Point in His/Her Brain!!!

My husband has successfully taken RYR for about 10 years because his body couldn't tolerate the statin drugs. He tried several but broke out in rashes. Our doctor was very happy to see that his cholesterol went into the normal range and after watching for 1 year, our doc decided to try this with other patients who couldn't tolerate statins.
He takes the standard dosage, measured out and added into some tomato juice. It won't dissolve in water. He's never had any issues with the supplement powder of RYR. Glad it works for you too!!

Fantastic video, thank you! I’m generally healthy (48F, 5’7, 121 lbs, BMI 18.9), but my LDL & total cholesterol levels are atrocious (close to 300😭). It runs in my family and definitely genetic. I already eat healthy and work out every day. I do NOT want to take statins. I have been adding a lot more fiber to my diet. I have been seeing a lot that Bergamot and red yeast rice are good supplements to take, so I will be trying them as well. What I really appreciate is that you are very specific (what brands, how much to take, and when best to take it). Invaluable info. Excited to add this to my stack and recheck my cholesterol in 2 months to see if there is any improvement.
Just wanted to ask, will red yeast rice negatively impact triglycerides or HDL? My numbers here are borderline bad (140 trigs, 58 HDL), so I don’t want to take anything that will lower HDL or increase trigs. Thank you!🙏🏻
