My God, this video was great. The quality was outstanding, and it genuinely sounded like you knew what you were doing. Props to you man, I might just stick around.
Man I felt the same. I pretty much just kept up with it because it was so easy to do. But Vol 3 ends pretty damn solidly and V4 is looking like what I wanted out of the show from the beginning.
Yeah, Volumes 1-3 are meant as a prologue for the show advertised in the original trailers. That doesn't excuse the mediocre quality of Volume 1, and whether or not that decision paid off is entirely up to personal interpretation, but the series is hopefully becoming more of what you were looking for.
To be fair, Volume 1 was literally the first time that everyone at RT was doing a fully original IP after a decade of Red vs. Blue. Of course there were going to be growing pains.
RWBY is... ok. Parts are great, parts aren't great. Overall, you can do much worse. I would say that good moments outplay the bad ones. Edit 4 Years Later: Not anymore, though.
Apart from V4 being... ambitious with it's method of story telling and V5 being... dry as hell with no real substance, post V3 content isn't as terrible as you make it sound. V6-8 were pretty good (although V6's ending was clearly left on the back burner and their team was working on their new mecha anime show they released literally days after, way to get your priorities straight RT). Not going to knock a person for their taste in shows but RWBY is not as awful as you make it out to be and V8 was honestly really solid overall.
Its obvious that RWBY has a lot of problems, but I still love the series very much. I don't know what, but something about it is just really charming. And the fight scenes are just top notch. Volume 2 is my favorite season followed by the first one and after that the third and fourth Volume.
7:46 They tryed to make something in the game for that One of her final upgrade refile all her ultimate when the aura is destroyed (sorry for my bad english, i m french)
That's sad the game wasn't pushed from a one-man-fangame to a full fledged double A game, with a true narrative, cutscenes, or at least introduction... etc. With Rooster Teeth behind it, and the fact it's an hommage to the poor Monty Oum (who was a hell of a passionnate animator ! go see his first amateur production before beeing spotted by Rooster Teeth, like Haloid / Dead Fantasy or even the action sequence / fights of Red vs Blue ! he was a self-taugh hyperactive worker, and a talented animator... ) R.I.P. :'(
Rwby's honestly ehhh. like you said season 1 is bad and not just that season 2 goes little to nowhere till the very end and season 3 was decent buuut had alot of inconsistencies. and season 4 whew hope you like walking simulator
Not to mention, season 5 was awful. Fight scenes were terrible, characters acting out of place, the world not making sense. Volume 6 (as of writing {seeing up-to episode 8}) is actually pretty good.
I came across this video looking for a guide on how to actually play this game. I was looking for a guide. And instead I find a British man in rubber gloves with the best looking beard I've seen in ages..... Guess who just subscribed. :)
They did use the models from the show on the game for a while, them updated to more framerate friendly versions later as said by Micca Burton and Barbara Dunkleman in a livestream they did a few months ago.
What we need is a RWBY game that plays similarly to DMC 5. Rather than changing styles or weapons, you change between your weapon forms for certain characters, and instead of a devil trigger, you activate your semblance. Aura would pull double duty being a shield over your HP bar, and fuel for your semblance, which steadily heals over time and you could purchase skills that make certain moves or combo finishers replenish part of your aura.
This show was always some thing that I was aware of but the whole Rooster teeth/western animu threw me off ever looking into it at all. It doesn't seem all that bad even if I'm purely just looking at the clips. The characters are expressive and mostly well designed and don't really have that dead eye doll look you'd expect from the way it looks (although it is there a tiny bit)
Actually Yang's bezerk mode is in the game, its a ability on the the third tier group, only activates if her aura is depleted. and you dont unlock it till i think lvl 10, which is the max lvl.
Actually, I think there was plenty of combo-attacks to use. somewhere round ten. Then you can play around with the skillpoints into different attacks and stuff. That said, I pretty much agree with the rest of the review. But, as I am a die hard fan of rwby, I've played the game for 144 hours. Because. Rwby.
Yeah never was much into the RWBY thing, I think I can get a better action fix elsewhere (Better animated, More complex actions, better voice acted, and with better humor), but I am glad to see people discussing it without being on the absolute love or hatred camp.
Wait did you not see the big shit show Roosterteeth quietly ignored a few months ago? When Monty's old right hand man was fired from the company he released this novel about how they actively changed a lot in season 3 from Monty's vision and refused to let his (Monty's) wife at the time (who apparently helped design a lot of the characters and helped him work on ideas at home) work on it because of business? drive.google.com/file/d/0B-H0KuOwKFYwZTJxbXg0SG5CTEE/view
+Clemps Yeah the girlfriend and some other previous employees said it was true. So there's that. Roosterteeth not making a single comment on it was pretty sketchy but it was the best move for their PR to say nothing, and it worked.
Well, I've noticed that a lot of shows start out weak, but become stronger with each episode. Like Moral Orel, Breaking Bad, and BoJack Horseman. I'm not interested in the game, but I'll check out the show.
I'd love a character action RWBY game where I can just play as Yang and any dodge I miss just makes my next attack hit them back with all the force they put forth and more.
Pretty much my take on the show as well. The first season was cheesy, but the action sequences and music were enjoyable enough to keep powering through it. But the third season was surprisingly really good. Like it went from being a wacky slice-of-life to being Highlander with a colorful anime filter. It was sad hearing what happened to Monty Oum, but I'm glad that he got the chance to create and work on a project that he genuinely cared about.
Oh hey, Volume 4 finished, didn't it? I should get around to watching that, and see if it's more like the end of season three or... the start of season 3. I have a creeping dread that it's going to be like the start of Season 3.
V4 had a few good fights and Qrow VS Tyrian is still by far one of the best in the series. Volume 5 however well...give me a fucking gun with a bullet covered in newspaper clippings and my corpse could still write a better script than the gray letters embedded in my frontal lobe.
It’s amazing how the writers managed to completely distance the main characters wholly away from the fairy tale inspirations they were once taken from. Yet another casualty as the show continues its unstoppable tumble down the cliff.
I like RWBY, it's not great, but it isn't bad either. I will say it has so much wasted potential it hurts though. That being said, V4 dragged. Like.... It almost reached V1 levels of disappointment for me. Don't even get me started on how they treated the Nuckelavee. They built it up so much, it looked badass, and then it gets killed in a single episode and ends up being EASIER to kill than the Ghast at the beginning of the volume! I mean, holy shit! I was expecting a Ludwig style boss fight, and instead I got a mid-tier boss that was ultimately more annoying to fight than actually posed a real threat. Qrow was still badass doe, and seeing more of Raven was pretty cool. I'll be honest and say the adult characters hold this show together. If it weren't for them the series would be a lot worst. If V5 doesn't improve, I feel this might be the end of my RWBY kick. This show has me more conflicted than Drakenguard.
I think the real disappointment in V4 came from it being a volume about recovery from terrible tragedies, and after all the buildup of shit to get through for Yang in the previous Volume they...just next to drop her out of the story entirely until she gets better magically off screen.
As a Yang fan I enjoyed drinking over Volume 3 because it really hit close to home in a lot of areas and I wanted to see her get through it the next Volume. Then Volume 4 treated it like she was just a child overreacting to a booboo and her own dad even treated it like a joke, literally. There was no development for either of them. Most people give me shit over calling it out because its either the excuse of "She hasn't really gotten over it yet." Or "getting her off her ass was way better than just having her stay around a house the whole volume worrying about herself. Cause I guess you can totally say something that tragic didn't hold a character back or bring them to their knees and have a heavy effect on them even though the previous volume clearly stated otherwise. Not to mention the excuse of not having her be at home and moping around an entire volume has no effect when Weiss is doing exactly that for lie eighty percent of her arc and nobody's batting an eye. Its just so disappointing that we were given the opportunity to show how the horrors of war and loss of limb and even being framed as a mentally unstable thug can really just break even the strongest of people even in a fantasy setting. Instead we went all Father Pucci and decided to accelerate the velocity of all the plots until they were all converging on Mistral by Volume's end. I want to drink because I'm emotionally invested, NOT because I'm disappointed. I have to agree. A lot of fan fictions knew how to hammer home her trauma a lot better than the source material. And not just the dismemberment part. They actually mentioned and even implemented the other shit she went through.
I couldn't stop comparing that Bumblebee bike drop and final blueball release of a three season absent semblance use to Cavaliere Angelo aerial raiding followed by a perfect royal guard. DMC5 is fucking dope btw
Regarding the game, it is essentially an indie title. I personally don't think its that bad. It does have its faults and there are a lot of them but the atmosphere satisfies my craving for the feelings the show evokes. If you're a big RWBY fan I'd recommend it. If you don't play many 3rd person hack and slash games I'd recommend it. If you can't answer yes to either of those questions I think you may wish to take a pass. I do want to support this game to encourage its evolution or reiteration in the future but I must acknowledge its problems.
My hope is that the game will continue to be updated and supported to become the game RWBY fans and general gamers deserve. And failing that I hope that their will be a second RWBY game that will fix all the issues with the game.
The problem with RWBY, in my opinion at least, is that the setting and background are *infinitely* more interesting than I expect the characters will ever be.
Strange Aeons I honestly feel like its the opposite problem The characters start to break out of their character mold later in the series but the backstory feels too generic
I see you’re playing the final boss single player? Trust me that fight is terrifying with a 4 person team because of the difficulty boost. It gives you huge hordes of enemies and you constantly have to keep your team alive. Mostly, the boss isn’t what I cared about in the fight, instead hoping I hit it when I was defeating other enemies and evading when I could.
For a guy that played games like Kingdom Hearts, God Eater and Devil May Cry, Grimm Eclipse felt really dissapoiting and bland for me. It's not exactly a bad game, but I've been expecting more since I've seen some gifs of the show that had some awesome animations. (Yes, I played Grimm Eclipse without watching the show, and I still don't plan to.)
I'm sorry but I dropped this series during volume 2 and I'm a huge rooster teeth and rvb fan who also watches anime you think rwby would be my favorite thing ever.
I kinda felt disappointed by the game considering the original project before being picked up was more of a character action RPG with admittedly clunky controls due to weapon changing and being stuck in a jam because you can't switch back fast enough. But as complicated as it was it felt kind of like a Devil Mat Cry light in its presentation. I got character and costume pack DLC's to support RT because I have hope that they can improve on the faults of this game and make something much better if not just give the rights to a studio like say, Platinum if they were willing.
Shame you didn't play this in Beta. I have a friend who is a big Monty Oum fan and apparently they completely RUINED the game when they did the "combat upgrade". It used to have a bigger movelist, more varied character movesets, and waaay more enemies before they put the counter system in the game. I think it had health ups too before that instead of auto regening health. A BUNCH of people complained but no one listened. Oh and it used to have a dash function to dodge attacks too. Here's his post about it: steamcommunity.com/app/418340/discussions/0/405694031550805410/
IMO, the show only got good near the end of season 2, but by the time that happened I'd quit watching the show entirely and only went back after hearing about the events of season 3, which is by far my favourite season, and IMO the only really good one (the others being just mediocre at best and cringey [I hate using that word] at worse).
I honestly didn't like Volume 3 that much. And Chibi is godawful. The game looks pretty weak as well. I don't get why they couldn't just get the animation team to do some FMVs or just build the levels based on scenes from the show.
I mean,it's probably great show, but i'm too lazy and have many more shows to watch....but i heard from you,and couple of people who actually disliked the show that it has some good music, and a good soundtrack is a good series to me! ... I dare you to name games/shows which has a good soundtrack but a bad gameplay/story!!
When i actually think about it this isn't the first thread where people had different opinion on KH games, i mean every game is different from the other by making a new mechanic and connect to the people with different taste,it's really amazing, and good that Tetsuya Nomura don't copy/paste a game that gives the aura that he doesn't make the same game again, like Yokotaro, and actually every time he make new ideas whether it is creative map design or new mechanics, though i think that Disney characters slow him down for going full creativity if that really a thing..... *Beside coded/Recoded,everybody hate that game*
Can someone explain to me how they made a game that looks (animation wise) 1000x times better then the actual animation from the show? How is that even possible?
In fact, I think if a show or game starts strong, it'll just build up overly high expectations and lead to disappointment. Just look at Game of Thrones season 5, The Walking Dead, and Arkham Knight.
Why didn't they have lyrics for the final boss? Anyway, this game was functional and mediocre. If there's a sequel I hope it's a lot better. A LOT better.
I think that they've dropped the more cringey and annoying moments due to advancing their animation and the fact that I assume a lot of people didn't like it very much. It also seems out of place given that the show is headed towards a much darker tone.
So clumps. Definitive edition coming to switch next month. Gonna bet its a port with all the dlc with little to no quality of life thats probably been hammered into them for years. Because this is rwby and rooster teeth aren't great at actually listening to criticism. Least the show writers aren't (but they're the fucking heads of rooster teeth).
Tbh my opinion on this game... Was just boring, look I'm a guy that plays dynasty warriors and other hack and slash games but I felt that this game was just... Empty, great backgrounds but honestly just felt hallow for me, the show on the other hand... Eeeehhh tbh on that front I dropped it towards the beginning of season 3 ... My opinion honestly was ... Eh I just moved on
My God, this video was great. The quality was outstanding, and it genuinely sounded like you knew what you were doing. Props to you man, I might just stick around.
I HEARD MONSTER HUNTER MUSIC AND LIKED THIS IMMEDIATELY, GOOD SHIT CLEMPS, IT'S NICE KNOWING YOU GOT GOOD TASTE
oh and the video was great as usual
I just fought the Mizustune earlier today. For a second I thought my 3DS had somehow sprung open and I was in a hunt by accident.
Id love platinum games to get the rights to make a new rwby game.
I have no idea if rwby that popular enough for platinum games to be interested in this franchise but who knows
I wish I never would have heard this so I can't be upset by it never happening.
I fucking loved the initial trailer RWBY had with red girl, but god damn the show dropped that brooding atmosphere like a sac of potatoes
V4 really drops its ball with certain characters...
So uh. A few seasons later, do you still feel like the good moments win out?
That comment didnt well lol
@@tenworms A few seasons later, I've dropped watching it completely.
Apart from V4 being... ambitious with it's method of story telling and V5 being... dry as hell with no real substance, post V3 content isn't as terrible as you make it sound. Same here ilias, same here
I just love how they're weapons are just blades, knife, scythes, swords, glove, etc combined with guns

Why the FUCK is Clemps still having only 3000 subs?! He should have way more.
The only way to change that is to share share share!
Yes Clemps-sama. I will Clemps-sama.
Now he's got 15 000 + !! STOP SHARING !! I repeat STOP SPREADING THE DISEASE !! :p
jfc that name
He's up to 42k. This has to stop.
This channel MUST grow! awesome content man.
Doesn't Yang look like Five?
Rwby's honestly ehhh.
like you said season 1 is bad and not just that season 2 goes little to nowhere till the very end and season 3 was decent buuut had alot of inconsistencies.
and season 4 whew hope you like walking simulator
Not to mention, season 5 was awful. Fight scenes were terrible, characters acting out of place, the world not making sense. Volume 6 (as of writing {seeing up-to episode 8}) is actually pretty good.
I quite like this series. It feels like a guilty pleasure. I'm excited for season 4.
Also Yang is indeed my favourite.
I've got to HAND it to the creators, they did an excellent job with designing Yang.
Too soon?
+SassyRiolu its so terrible but it got me to laugh
SassyRiolu There is that stupid Gag for God sake just fuck of its not funny
Anas Ali Someone's butthurt.
Yeah and someone is an ass hole
Been a joy watching the review. Cheers.
I came across this video looking for a guide on how to actually play this game.
I was looking for a guide. And instead I find a British man in rubber gloves with the best looking beard I've seen in ages.....
Guess who just subscribed. :)
Yoo, nice mizutsune theme. I just finished hunting him. Keep up the good videos!
fave new monster!!
He is an absolute beauty, beautiful armor and weapons as well. Nice to know you have good taste despite your praise of RWBY
Let me know if you want to hunt sometime!
They did use the models from the show on the game for a while, them updated to more framerate friendly versions later as said by Micca Burton and Barbara Dunkleman in a livestream they did a few months ago.
Is this music from the game/ show? I've tried searching, but haven't found anything yet
Music is in the description. :)
I'm dumb- thanks- new Subscriber!

you had me at the chris chan clip
great review! what is the name of the vocal song at the end of the video? thanks!
Actually Yang's bezerk mode is in the game, its a ability on the the third tier group, only activates if her aura is depleted. and you dont unlock it till i think lvl 10, which is the max lvl.

Huh, interesting. I didn't know about this but I'll give it a read, thanks!
nah prob my man.
I just skimmed through it, read a couple of pages, and holy shit I never knew it was that bad at Roosterteeth.
Fire away my man.
+Clemps Yeah the girlfriend and some other previous employees said it was true. So there's that. Roosterteeth not making a single comment on it was pretty sketchy but it was the best move for their PR to say nothing, and it worked.
I totally did not expect a cutaway to Potion Maker
7:40 So Yang's a member of the Royal Guard?
V6 has the dest visual description of Royal guarding so hard you break the style ranking system
I HATE RWBY.... But I love you, Clemps, so I think I'll leave it at that. Great video as always, buddy!
Well Vashkey I just need to ask: why do you hate RWBY?
Well, I've noticed that a lot of shows start out weak, but become stronger with each episode. Like Moral Orel, Breaking Bad, and BoJack Horseman. I'm not interested in the game, but I'll check out the show.
love your work. Keep it up boy^^
Omg these Chris Chan references. I think I'm in love.
What do you think of the musou genre?
Its fine. Looking forward to the Berserk musou
I'd love a character action RWBY game where I can just play as Yang and any dodge I miss just makes my next attack hit them back with all the force they put forth and more.

I like how is voice almost broke in to Grimoire Weiss.
Oooof makes me wonder how you feel about Vol 4&5...
Check out Lost Soul Aside....project being made by one guy
So Clemps do you still watch RWBY? What do you think of it so far?
Aw c'mon, Nora is adorable.
Wow season 8 just revealed a mutated Grim. I guess they got that idea from this game. Wasn't in Monty's plans since this was a fangame...
Also nice Chapter 99 Amphibian girl Clemps.
That Monster Hunter theme tho...from the prettiest most beautiful monster there is
also
PYRRHA > YANG fucking fite me
I had to pause the video to give props to you liking favorite best girl waifu momma bear bae Big Bang Yang.
The main reason I enjoy rwby is just because of the battles. But unfortunately V4 and V5 are pretty much story based.
V4 had a few good fights and Qrow VS Tyrian is still by far one of the best in the series. Volume 5 however well...give me a fucking gun with a bullet covered in newspaper clippings and my corpse could still write a better script than the gray letters embedded in my frontal lobe.
Mr Clemps is my favorite magical girl
Yang looks so much like Five it's eerie. I wonder if they are similar in personality. Or maybe shes more like Two in that way?
She's DEFINITELY more like Two, minus the... y'know. Losing her mind part.
+Clemps lol I see, thank u. ;) Keep up the good work!
@Clemps 4 HOURS!?
game @08:17?
Little late, I know, but FYI It's called Potion Maker
Nice potion maker bit.
It’s amazing how the writers managed to completely distance the main characters wholly away from the fairy tale inspirations they were once taken from.

I couldn't stop comparing that Bumblebee bike drop and final blueball release of a three season absent semblance use to Cavaliere Angelo aerial raiding followed by a perfect royal guard. DMC5 is fucking dope btw
The RWBY Show looks like ScrewAttack's 3D DeathBattles.
B^)
6:07 Yakuza does this shit too and it's super tedious.
meh... I don't want to hate myself for 60+ hours to maybe get to a show I might like a little.
Whens Hugo 2?
New DLC , New Campagn coming to game and you already have it you get it free

Mostly, the boss isn’t what I cared about in the fight, instead hoping I hit it when I was defeating other enemies and evading when I could.
If you ever decide to play it, always do random multiplayer if you’re alone, it’s a lot more interesting.
For a guy that played games like Kingdom Hearts, God Eater and Devil May Cry, Grimm Eclipse felt really dissapoiting and bland for me. It's not exactly a bad game, but I've been expecting more since I've seen some gifs of the show that had some awesome animations. (Yes, I played Grimm Eclipse without watching the show, and I still don't plan to.)
damn...Final Fantasy 9 is $20.00 in the US
Looks better than Platinum Games' Korra to be honest.
Its a good shiw wuth flaws like every show
Great video Clemps
Dude your voice sound like Dr Marlot cool
You sound like a different person at the beginning lol
I'm sorry but I dropped this series during volume 2 and I'm a huge rooster teeth and rvb fan who also watches anime you think rwby would be my favorite thing ever.
So Cybresamurai I hope you don’t mind me asking but: what don’t you like about it?
I thought a rwby fighting game would be pretty neat
I kinda felt disappointed by the game considering the original project before being picked up was more of a character action RPG with admittedly clunky controls due to weapon changing and being stuck in a jam because you can't switch back fast enough. But as complicated as it was it felt kind of like a Devil Mat Cry light in its presentation. I got character and costume pack DLC's to support RT because I have hope that they can improve on the faults of this game and make something much better if not just give the rights to a studio like say, Platinum if they were willing.
Nice Splatoon hat
I hope RWBY gets a remake, it looks like fucking shit. Not Berserk level of shit, but still.
Here's his post about it:

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFUCKING HUGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I hate Rwby but I like you so I like this video
I hope you don’t mind me asking Bradley Bradley but why do you hate RWBY?
IMO, the show only got good near the end of season 2, but by the time that happened I'd quit watching the show entirely and only went back after hearing about the events of season 3, which is by far my favourite season, and IMO the only really good one (the others being just mediocre at best and cringey [I hate using that word] at worse).
Grimm Eclipse reminds me a lot of that Legend of Korra game. Cool looking, but boring if you play it for more than half an hour.
I honestly didn't like Volume 3 that much. And Chibi is godawful. The game looks pretty weak as well. I don't get why they couldn't just get the animation team to do some FMVs or just build the levels based on scenes from the show.
They should at least have made stills like the World of Remnant episodes.
Hey clemps i love you but only because you play potion maker.
Birth By Sleep.
ProtagonistJake Birth By Sleep is great man....
+ProtagonistJake Basically any Kingdom Hearts that isn't 2 or Chain of Memories.
Thanatos388 DDD was fi--...
no i'll actually stop..opinions..
by the way i hope you mean ReChain of Memories, not Chain of Memories.
When i actually think about it this isn't the first thread where people had different opinion on KH games,
i mean every game is different from the other by making a new mechanic and connect to the people with different taste,it's really amazing, and good that Tetsuya Nomura don't copy/paste a game that gives the aura that he doesn't make the same game again, like Yokotaro,
and actually every time he make new ideas whether it is creative map design or new mechanics, though i think that Disney characters slow him down for going full creativity if that really a thing.....
*Beside coded/Recoded,everybody hate that game*
Can someone explain to me how they made a game that looks (animation wise) 1000x times better then the actual animation from the show? How is that even possible?
The only good thing on RWBY is the soundtrack. Everything besides that is just... Clunky
In fact, I think if a show or game starts strong, it'll just build up overly high expectations and lead to disappointment. Just look at Game of Thrones season 5, The Walking Dead, and Arkham Knight.
Crono ??????Are you seriously making an excuse for a bad beginning?
Why didn't they have lyrics for the final boss?
Anyway, this game was functional and mediocre. If there's a sequel I hope it's a lot better.
A LOT better.
Now do Hunter x Hunter
Does that even have games worth mentioning?
grimm eclipse exists mostly as an excuse to create _Lusus Naturae_, which has since become the grimm's theme song.
rwby rwby rwby rwbyyyyyyyyyyy!
Ahhhhh
it took two days for that thank you so much
VoS You're welcome.
The first season was good...but then it just went like downhill with it....
Huh. That's the inverse of the popular opinion. I know this is a really late comment, but would you explain why you think that?
i think the combat animation is a mess, it is admirable that the man achieved st, but honestly, the fight scenes are just horrendous to me
I think that they've dropped the more cringey and annoying moments due to advancing their animation and the fact that I assume a lot of people didn't like it very much. It also seems out of place given that the show is headed towards a much darker tone.
Yang is best girl
The cult of cinnamon rolls covered in gold grows daily
