Mario Badia honestly the thing that confused me is that in volume 2 episode 4 a paladin destroyed a shit ton of cars murdering a shit ton of people and no body panicked but a broken robot nearly ended Vale. da fuck?

Actually, the paladin in season 2 was kind of a big deal. It was hard for them to take it down, and it was only a stolen prototype. In season 3, Beacon and Vale were invaded by an army or robots and paladins, final versions mind you, not weak ass prototypes. Top that with a shit ton of grimm, and it's pretty believable. If you want to look for flaws in "power levels", look at the grimm themselves. Sure, they have a hard time defeating the deathstalker and nevermore at the initiation, but after that every grimm fight is a breeze. They just fall like flies. Then suddenly, BAM. The final episodes of season 3 come along, and everyone is struggling with THE SAME GRIMM they defeated time and time again (not the same exact grimm, just the same types. You know what I mean). It's a decent show, but that's about it.
As a fan of the show, it pains me to say that this review seems nearly 100% correct. :(

King Arthur I mean, Platinum made the Legend of Korra game, and it had the same issues as the RWBY game. It has less to do with the developer and more to do with games based of of shows or movies always suck.

Alexei Strife well see after putting a few 20 hours or so legitimately trying to like the game I couldn't because I just got the game like a week ago. So I don't see much fixes because that would mean the whole experience is different from the complaints before. However despite the claim fixes it still fight the same enemies.
As stated in the video above the audio thing is there everyone grunts the same grunt for every combo. The added stages are just more empty rooms as lifeless as all hell with like two types of enemies added which is disappointing with the fuck ton of Grim Avilable in the lore to go on yet we still fight the same four dudes the entire damn game with little Variation. The update also comes as paid dlc. As jnpr fixes some of the issues but the fact that I had to drop another 5 bucks in the game to fix the issues it has is just stupid.

You can sort of fix pops by running a high pass filter on the samples that pop. Dropping out all the frequencies below 100 HZ will repair poped audio well enough

I think it's evident that this game was made by a team of COMPLETE amateurs. Literally 10 people, a few right out of game-design college and the rest with 0 experience in this type of game.

This was never supposed to be an offically licensed game, it was a fan project that Rooster Teeth picked up.
Similarly, RWBY itself was never meant to be as huge as it is. It was only a silly ONA about school girls with mech-weapons in crazy anime fights. That's the whole point and essence of the show for the first 3 seasons before the creator died.
RWBY has been blown way out of proportion.
So basically this game could have been so much better however they screwed everything up and ignored fans for quaintly interesting gameplay that doesn't even really work that well. That is pretty fucking cold.
I know EXACTLY what is causing that audio inconsistency. Notice how the sounds are louder when there's more projectiles hitting the monster at once? Yeah, they're playing one instance of the hit sound and "ow" sound for each of the six projectiles, so it's playing at six times the volume. There's a couple ways to deal with this. Unfortunately, the best way to deal with this would've been "reskin Devil May Cry 4 to have RWBY characters in it", which would've been the obvious thing for them to do, but they didn't.
Incidentally, the loudest sound in the game...is *also* the sound played by the most objects at once. Go figure.

As a massive fan of RWBY, I agree. Grimm Eclipse is hot garbage. Now the original Grim Eclipse fan-made game was MUCH better.

@@Lh0000Yeah! And it was really good for what it was. It basically recreated the Red trailer where you played Ruby and survived as many waves as you were able to, unlocking abilities as you gained XP from kills.
I think this game has the groundworks for an awesome game, but this feels like the pre alpha version of that hypothetical awesome game

i watched this when it first came out, but i was rewatching it just now and when he mentions the sound of the floor spikes "hellen kellering" the player he shows a picture of what i think is anne frank on screen which is straight out of a bert kreischer bit where he confuses hellen keller and anne frank in the anne frank house and starts making a bunch of really accidentally insensitive jokes

Grimm Eclipse being released on the console was on the same day as Martin Luther King Jr. Day! and to add salt to the wound, being released a mere 3 days before Donald Trump got inagurated as the 45th President of the United States makes this shit even Worse and being also released 8 days before the superior Resident Evil 7 came out just makes this shit Fail!, RT GAMES, what were they thinking!?!?!, Releasing a crappy game on the same day as your Country's national Holiday, let alone releasing it 3 days before Trump became President and 8 days before a superior First-person game was released is unacceptable!
You know, I remember playing the beta of this game before the changes when the combat actually had depth. Rather than having a dedicated counter button, you actually had to counter attacks with certain moves.
For instance, the Grimm that rolled at you could be countered if you hit them at the right time with Yang's Heavy attack, but Blake's heavy attack wouldn't work.

Considering all the cross-overs RWBY is currently having as of late, I am hoping that Koei Tecmo reaches out and offers to make a RWBY game for them. It would be amazing to have a RWBY game in the same exact fashion as a Musou game, especially if it was made by the people who started (or popularized) the genre.
Especially since Koei Tecmo has been super into making spin-off games of different franchises, which include anime.

I'm having a problem with the normal attack. On PC, you have to press the left mouse key to attack, the problem is that I have to stand still for about two seconds before I can do it or else it won't come out. I might add that I'm using the laptop mouse. Anyone know why that's happening?

As a die hard fan of RWBY...you're absolutely right.
This is possibly the most boring game I've ever played, and it's a shame since RWBY does have the potential to be a good game. But making a RWBY game good would require a budget that's more than the show, and with the series going big in countries like Japan I don't understand why RT can't just let another developer make a RWBY game (hell I think some creators said they want to make a RWBY game). It's great that they would hire fans to create content for them but at the same time that has consequences, and this is one of them.
According to another comment on here the creator of Blazblue has stated that he'd be interested in making a RWBY game (haven't followed up and checked if that's true so take that with a grain of salt), and that is much more promising sounding to me.
The game as it is just feels, and I've said this before, incredibly arrogant. Everything about it. The design, the price tag, the attitude of the developers... Everything. For their first real foray into game development they should have tried to make something simple but enjoyable, instead they overcomplicated things and mixed elements that just don't blend together well, and the end result wouldn't be fun to play even if it functioned properly (which it doesn't). I completely agree that I think RT should have just allowed a more experienced group of devs use their license to make a game, or at the very least have the self awareness to know that it's not okay to release what they've made for $25 and call it a "full game," because it just... isn't.
I could have made this review much longer if I wanted to really nitpick the shit out of every little thing that bothered me, and I could probably make a follow up video if I wanted about the behavior of the devs on the Steam forums (a user got banned for posting my review, and the lead developer said that the review is invalid because I've never made a game before (wat)), but I'm just so sick of having any kind of involvement with this game. It's a bad game. It's fine if you like it, like what you like I don't care, but it's not finished and it's not well designed. Banning anyone who will provide critiques is a sure fire way to ensure that you are never going to improve in your field, and that's fuckin dumb.

I haven't visited the forums yet and I'm sort of glad I haven't. It sounds like the dev's can't take criticism for what they made, which is sad. It's even more sad that RT fanboys will defend this saying something like "well it's their first game" "but it's RWBY" that shit does not matter. Is it a good game? No. Should they have tried better? Yes. Could they have done it? Doubt it.
Why RT hasn't accepted the Blazblue's want is beyond me, if I were Burnie, you know I would jump board with that shit.
I look at this game as a blueprint. A stepping stone. This was Roosterteeth's first game. I'm hoping they'll listen to this criticism and actually make a different RWBY game that is more in the vein of Dragon Age or Mass Effect. The combos were pretty fun to use in combat, but they could have been better. Overall, for a game that was initially created by a fan and picked up by Roosterteeth, I had fun and it was interesting learning about Dr. Merlot. It's just disappointing and annoying and repetitive at points. That's my thoughts on it at least.

ok, so I usually don't comment on youtube videos at all, but i think this channel deserves some kind words(not just this video). Although i found this channel a few days ago i have to say that pretty much all actual reviews i watched made me enjoy my time, even if not making my voice crack like a pubescent teenager from the amount of laughs involved, instead, they made me want to binge watch them over and over. It's alright. Fun way to burn a few hours. But not worth the price. But you know what would make a FANTASTIC RWBY game? One with the combat style of Castle Crashers.

Personally, I think the dream RWBY game would be one based during a time before the actual timeline of "RWBY." Play as a customized character learning through the combat school, make friends and enemies while you hone your skills. Then, you get thrown out into the real world where you can become a character ranging on a spectrum from 'Hero' to 'Villian.' Like, you can become the protector of villages or a field-range professor; or you could become a mob boss and/or servant of Salem, all based upon actions previous made, in the game. It'd be lore friendly AND badass. But let's be honest. that kinda game would probably take nearly a decade to make, probably more with the low budget this newer studio has. One can dream, I suppose~

I watch the show because the writing is so fucking terrible. It's easier to mold in how it can be interpreted. Mostly because I'm a fan fiction writer and you summed up the feeling of it well enough. ;-)

The first one is done as an homage to the RLM review of the Star Wars prequels but he switches to his own style by the time he does the volume 2 review. Definitely worth a watch if you're trying to learn to be a better writer :)

Haven't ever played Blazblue, but now that you've said it I do think that a fighting game would have been a MUCH better choice for a RWBY game. It wouldn't have all the extra nonsense, they could just focus on polishing the mechanics.

My problems with the game:
- Annoying characters/dialogue
- Repetitive combat
- PC performance issues on a game that looks like it could be a PS3 launch title.
- No depth or replay value

I honestly have no idea why people on Steam actually like this game. This game is even more one noted than Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric (how do you do that?)
Oh, and they have the balls to add _paid DLC_ in an _already overpriced game_.
I'm here from the switch port, and you couldn't have said all of this any better, except for that spike audio thank god.

I didn't want to watch the review because i don't like the series. But i did because i knew its a bad game and it was going to make my day, it made me laugh, all rooster teeth is trying to make is milk the shit out of the series, i saw the themes on ps4 and they are baaaaad, they look horrible they're worth $2.99 WTF!!!! There are better themes that are free on the ps4 -_-, also they made a manga the art is horrible too

As a "fan" of the show, if by fan you mean someone who only watches it when he has nothing else to put on and only does so because he's already a fan of other Rooster Teeth content, I can passionately say that it's another disappointing pile of dogshit from RT's "innovative" side of production. Look, I love them, but RWBY is written like the shitty parts of Steven Universe were translated by someone born with fetal alcohol syndrome and Lazer Team makes RWBY seem like fucking Avatar: The Last Airbender. I'm all for them pushing them envelope as far as what kind of content is released on what platform and with how much of a budget, but when it sucks, it fucking sucks. Hire some writers, for christ's sake. Somebody seriously needs to travel back in time and capture the writing ability of Burnie from seasons 6-10 of RvB and inject whoever they have working on their current scripts with it, because at least then their stories would be mildly unique, cohesive and well-developed.

honestly since RT went corporate their content has gotten worse don't get me wrong they still hold a special place in my life but they lost something when they transitioned from a bunch of dudes doing things for fun to a fucking company
