- With a story yet to be finished, perhaps you would like to know what the game is about, that is presuming you didn't pay attention to the game, which i didn't, until i made this video.

It would be interesting if they tied Merlot to Salem or Summer and if he had a part in either Summer's death or Salem being able to control the grimm.
Skitzoid I had made a theory before I learned about Grimm eclipse where Salem did an experiment of sorts with the Grimm and almost lost her soul, resulting in her grimmish appearance and summers death. Now that I know Merlot, I think he could have caused summers death, also, maybe silver eyes are valuable resource to merlot to discover mutated grimes reactions and how it affects them. Wouldn't tit be cool if there were some Grimm that weren't affected by Ruby's op? Not that silver eyes aren't cool, it's just a little How Can She Do That And Why Does Her Eye Color Mean Anything Besides Appearance? My sister has silver eyes(she is very violent though[shes two, not some abusive sister or something, just a little tantrum prone]so if she could do what Ruby does every time she had a screaming fit, eek) Anyway, it would be cool if summer was killed by merlot Grimm

@@Ana-gk8nf well technically salem was cursed by the gods but that doesnt mean he is not related to salem as they reveal they been capturing silver eye warriors to put grimm in it maybe its more like salem found merlot because of his obsession with grimm and tried to use his experiment to create silver eyed human or faunus grimm hybrids to aid her in there war and your not off about summer rose either.

You know, I would love for Rooster Teeth to animate some RWBY miniseries or side-stories like they've done for RVB. That way they don't have to break up the main narrative of the ongoing story and still expand upon the world of remnant. Some ideas they could do are:
-Animate this game and Shirow Miwa's original manga story. The reason being is that not only will these stories feel more apart of canon, but it is also a chance to see team rwby and team jnpr work more together, which was something would have liked to have seen more of.
-A team strq story. This team has quiet a bit mystery them and I would like to them as they were in there beacon days.
-A team cfvy story.
-The Great War.
These are just a few ideas I would like to see, but I'm sure there is more that Rooster Teeth could work with.

True, but I think that its so well received BECAUSE they are fan made and are for fun. Making a whole story for them would feel kind of forced if you ask me, but what do I know? I wouldn't say no to a cameo though.
I was actually thinking that. That way, those who got little screen time can get the spotlight.
There's kinda no debating it's status in regards to the show's continuity. It's been confirmed canon by Rooster Teeth. Considering they both developed and published the game, I don't see why people doubt this. Though I suppose the only way to ease these doubts would be to simply mention or even have a reference to Dr Merlot or Merlot Industries in the show. As for the story, it seems to be finished. Their hasn't been any news of making more than the ten chapters we've had for months now. They seem to be primarily focused on DLC until said otherwise. Considering the game's main source of fun is its multiplayer, this isn't surprising. A last little detail that the video doesn't bring up, Merlot states that his company primarily did work with artificial intelligence and genetics, thus explaining how he was able to make both the robots and the serum.

Hmm... that kinda reminds me of Penny... could he had helped to create her? Nah.
I sincerely doubt it. His company probably helped progress the actual concept of artificial intelligence, but her creation was likely carried out without him even knowing. That's not even getting into the fact that the Merlot Industries primary facility was in Vale, while Penny was supposedly created in Atlas.
That's why I said "Nah", it was just one of few theories I heard about.
Anyway I wonder IF we'll ever get some reference to Dr. Merlot because we have got nothing...
Although if story of the game is canon then the fanbase would be a little upset because, you know, they'd need to play the game or at least watch the dialogs. Or this video. But the thought of mutated Grimm and possibly new villain (just a short reminder: We saw seven chiars in Salem's "castle" and we know only about five main members) is interesting to say the least.

ShadeKetchum my guess is that Merlot and his experiments exist, but since the main continuity is the way it is, nobody has discovered him. Meaning that he may well play a part in the show
Many theorise that Dr Merlot is not evil. If you listen to the theme that plays on his island(near the end I think) ''Lusus Naturae'', his goal seems to be to ''elevate the savage'' and ''change to good'' the Grimm he captures. People just keep shutting him down, people like the guys from Atlas and etc. Maybe he is abducting those Grimm to take away Salem's control over them and maybe using the Grimm for good. But since you are told to deal with him, you can't just question him.
The emphasized in the story that happened between season one and season 2 so it is possible best part of the main story as there is some time between those seasons however I'm not sure if it fit with the show as to how beacon operates when training new students as I doubt they would send first years on such a mission of course I suppose things just simply got out of control I would actually like to see more levels to Ruby gurma clips though as well as them expanding the leveling system

Bobby Shewan I like the game and the story too! I’m currently on level 7, trying to obtain all the trophy, not many people play this game, mainly because it’s kinda rare but I enjoy playing it 😊

I think that Dr. Merlot is a Pretty good Villain and I could honestly see him appearing in the actual Series but his potential will be Wasted just like that.

I don't think so. All of Merlot's experiments have a green glow from the substance that Merlot uses to mutate them.

the game has been said to be canon but as many have stated the story seems unfinished. The devs have said they dont plan on adding any more levels. just DLC and characters. its sad. maybe i just had high expectations for the game but it really disappointed me. its hard to even play a level. the combat was well displayed in the video. alot of spamming.
Then again, for their first game they did pretty well. It is possible that they will make a second one with a lot of improvements and the next part of the Merlot story.

If I could suggest, it'd be cool if you could make a video of RvB about all the AI and their profiles. It's just an idea but feel free if you want.
It could very well be cannon. Remember kingdom hearts? It had a mobile game or mmo or something that was 100% cannon. Sure it was a prequel to explain the history of the key blade wars but who's to say the game isn't just a random event that takes place in one of those many time gaps we have. This could introduce Dr. Merlot and he could become a key player later since he has that grimm obsession. He might be the new Torchwick for all we know. Just saying it is within the realm of possibility.
I would like it to be canon . At least a side mission before season three or something like that . It's a good game .

the game is fun to play with friends and I feel like the story is half cannon like it can tell us what happened to Mount Glenn but that's about it the concept of mutated grimm can be cannon, because we now little about doc watts he could be one of the researchers at Merlot Industries and provide his work to Salem.
to think that dr. merlot is the reason that the city of mountain glenn was left ruins, because of his arrogance of his study and fascination of the grimm, a lot of people lost their lives is because of him.
that probably would've been a filler series, sense it takes place before the events of volume 3.
You know if someone good enough wants to they could make a comic series about this. It could be around 4 to maybe 5 issues long depending on how many panels they want for fighting.

Im not gonna lie the thing Im connecting them with is That Merlot Has M and Watts has W an upside down M and that there both Doctors of the evil variety who apparently work with Grimm, At least I think Watts made Cinders arm and I assume Tyrians tail will be grimm too.

It's hard for me to think the game is cannon, mostly because this seems to be a somewhat big part of the stroy, and for them to just gloss over it in the show sems out of place.

The Finale to Eleven Little Roosters was amazing! Hideo Kojima cameo was incredible and highly unexpected, hopefully we get more news for Twelve Little Roosters. So we don't know the killer yet only the Moles which we're Mavin and the Colonel, and so the killer is a Shapeshifter as well? That's going to be interesting I really want it to be a new character and not someone like the Co-Pirate but it would be cool if it is the Co-Pirate but it would be too predictable. But again can he only Shapeshift if he has seen the person before? Or can he/she transform to anyone they want? If the first one is the case he/she must of been in Ten Little Roosters in order to transform into Lindsay. Lindsay said in Ten Little Roosters "Whoever is behind this has a real GOD complex." We thought it was meant for Barbara but I'm not so sure now.
I believe that this could be great if it's cannon. It will give a little spice to the Grimm and possibly a new villain or side villain to fight. It would make the world of remenent more... in depth.

Wow, makes sense for why Mountain Glenn is like in ruins. Dr. Merlot seemed more dangerous than Watts, in my opinion, Merlot would've been a bigger antagonist than Watts in Volume 7, maybe serve as some driving force to him to improve some writing.

I think the story itself is non cannon. But maybe merlot himself might make a appearance in the series himself. As for what volume he might appear I don't know.

I've actually beaten the game twice. Wish roosterteeth was still working in it, making more dlc. Cuz the story doesn't feel complete....

if you think about it the story by itself seems to be more simple than the show the show story line is all over the place doesn't have anything to give. I think the game story on itself is some what OK but to relate to the canon it's not good.

Nah. Penny was made with the help of the Atlas military. Merlot is clearly working by himself after his company shut down.

I would only get it if you really love the show. Its a decent hack n' slash with some decent story telling. Nothing like the show in terms of story telling tho
most reviews seem to agree that it's only really worth it if you have someone to play it with

Grimm Eclipse is a lackluster and repetitive game. For a official RWBY game, I think was the first...what a huge mess. Personally I didn't care for the poor story. Not having team interactions or team attacks in single player is just sad. Also having the single player mode stuck to only one character was a stupid idea.
The story itself is a gaiden style story to me and very poorly told even if just for the sake of having a story to the game.
The game itself isn't good storywise and get repetitive fast with no real rewards to it (Coming from me as a player who beat the game 100%)

my verdict:
the story is too bland and unsignificant, the villain is as threatening as an irish potato, and the gravity of his actions are as harmful as an ant bite
so in the story department: bad
