They end up on an island with another character and after getting their little butts kicked enough times end up turning into helpers, protecting the island and all that live on it with them
Goku is a great parent. Walked with Gohan as a child in the mornings. A great beginning of dbz. He’s literally sacrificed his life for Gohan numerous times. Goku also gave Gohan security & mental strength in the chamber. He uplifted Gohan consistently. He was so in love with his son that it took Gohan in the chamber to force Goku to train him harder. Goku is a GREAT father & it’s only Vegeta fans that say other wise to put dirt on Goku. Goku isn’t perfect but he’s an amazing father. He’s like a soldier going to war. It’s not his fault he was killed 😂 Vegeta is actually a terrible father , I swear this old rhetoric about Goku has got to die out 🙄
Goku had bouts of greatness but did screw up at times. noe in the end this show is a paradoy. cannon Goku is not this dumb. as for Vegeta he had a crappy father so that was passed down. at least he got better.
Vegeta fans on their way to forget that he didn't defend Bulma and Trunks as a baby from Dr.Gero's ki blast and didn't hug Trunks until he was 9 years old
@@mandalore1089 You mean, after he kidnapped Gohan from his mother, launched Gohan at a mountain, forced him to fend against a dinosaur and survive in the wild on his own for the most part without training or supplies? Hmm, yeah... I'm still giving the best father trophy to Goku.
Goku can only teleport to other beings because he needs to lock on to a ki signature to do it, so he literally couldn't have teleported just to outer space. And king kai is already in the other world, or whatever it's called, and probably is easy to find because he's pretty strong. So it was the best place he could have teleported Cell.
To answer your question on why Piccolo was not the one to come forward after Gokus sacrifice: So Piccolo is not the type to comfort a person (right away), he would rather Gohan reflect and learn from his mistakes, before offering a word of advice. So he would let Gohan have his outburst, because holding it in would not do him any good emotionally. And Gohan might have done that if Piccolo came forward right away. Maybe? Please add on or tell me if I am wrong saying this :)
While Piccolo cares for gohan a lot in the original series he's just not the type to comfort people. Especially considering he's probably never had anybody show any kind of affection towards him until gohan did. Which was understandable given his background. Even back when he died protecting gohan when nappa blasted him he even admitted to not knowing why he did it. The classic my body moved on its own thing. That was probably the start of piccolo caring for somebody else
Also to a callback to Goku vs Freeza on Namek, right before a similar situation where the villain in anger does something that ends him getting him killed but not really
The picollo thing maybe is a animation problem. what i mean is there no shot of picollo helping gohan on the OG DBZ so its hard to create one and no breaking the rithm of the scene.
Nope, two words Ken , Sayian biology. Cell has it too, which means he too benefits from the "Zenkai " boosts sayians get when pushed to the edge of death, this and in combination with the healing factor of namekians and the infinite energy of the androids is what makes cell so dangerous and considers himself the perfect being.
I can totally understand why Goku wanted Gohan to love fighting like him, it was grandpa Gohan who took Goku in, raised him, loved him, and taught him how to fight. He was the only person he had in the entirety of his early life. Then he transformed into the Great Ape one night and his grandpa was gone from his life. For years after he was alone in the woods until Bulma showed up and changed his life forever. For the next 6 years Goku would meet and make lifelong friends and family through martial arts, training and bonding with a few of them for months at a time, notably Krillin and his new guardian figure, Master Roshi. Fast forward some years and he has his own son, named after the man who raised him. Martial arts was how Goku bonded with and learned from his loved ones as early as he can remember. Even Chi-Chi won his heart by becoming a skilled martial artist in her own right and challenging him at a tournament. So of course with Gohan he’d try to bond with him the same way. It’s all he’s ever known how to do.
"How in the hell?!?!" Don't worry, they explain in the next episode. Btw, the reason Goku went to King Kai's planet is because he needs to be able to focus and lock onto someone's energy to transport to them. Otherwise, he woulda just taken him into empty space or something.
Fun Fact there is a Dragon Ball Game Series called Xenoverse which is build around the Premise of helping the Supreme Kai of Time against people trying to mess with the timelines. Trunks is a major supporting character in it as he was basically made into a time cop to atone for his sins of messing with the timelines
I bring this up because it's easily missed. TFS doesn't go into it at all and even in the original show it's very easy to miss. It's also not a spoiler, just a reminder of previously established lore and facts. Cell constsis of: 1 part Namekian with Piccolo 1 Part whatever the hell Freeza is 4-5 Parts Sayan (Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Nappa and perhaps Raddiz) We also know that Cell's regenerative power vastly outperforms that of Piccolo, being able to regrow more than half his body at once, brain included. Now: What happens when you beat a Sayan to near death?
It's kinda not if you think about it. Perfect Cell is far too egotistical to resort to it. Imperfect Cell and Semi-perfect Cell are too weak to do anything if they do travel back. The combined biology of namekians and saiyans inside Perfect Cell just makes more sense.
@@onemuststand7353 @OneMustStand I'd say it gets worse the more you think about it. He said he regenerated from a cluster in his head, after Goku blew everything above his chest off. That followed by regenerating fully in about a minute, being even stronger, learning instant transmission, returning to perfect without the androids... Just a cavalcade of twists that would be manageable alone, but stack into a pile of nonsense. Sure, the time travel idea doesn't really make sense, but let's not pretend the actual explanation is much better. I'd rather cell just admit he had no idea and made up the story.
@@Rhino-n-Chips I think you're mixing things up and at the same time ignoring the points to why they were possible. Goku blasting away P-Cell's upper body was during their 1v1 and he still had the rest of his body to regenerate from. The cluster of cells P-Cell regenerated from after his suicide bomb happened to be from his head, not because that's where they were originally. The regeneration was from namekian biology enhanced with Freeza's race's tenacity. Becoming stronger from the brink of death was obviously saiyan biology. The parts about learning instant transmission and regaining perfect form without 17 and 18 are the only ones that're actually questionable, imo. Even then, the regaining of the perfect form was still reasonably explained if we take into account all his combined biology working together. The learning instant transmission bit is probably the only part that can't be reasonably explained.
This move of Goku was the only way and how he did it is even better, because it lift all the tension from earlier. As a joke, but it was the same as it was in the original show. Poor King Kai thou and his pet friends.
Almost at the end guys! I'm not sure you initially picked up on the throwback that I mentioned a whileeee ago haha, but then again most reactors don't on the first time. I always look to see if they do though haha. 9:50 - 10:03 is one of my favorite callbacks to the moment near the end of their fight when Goku told Freeza he was bored. 😂
Don't worry about Dende. Dende is now the Guardian (Kami / God) of Earth, his lookout is on Earth with Mr. Popo, not at Kai's place. Gohan's line of "I'm not done ripping the wings of this butterfly" immediately reminded me of that one H.I.M. song - Wings of a Butterfly. But as they say, if there's no body, they're not dead. Except when it comes to Dragonball, just because there is a body, doesn't necessarily mean they're dead and even they're dead it doesn't mean they're going to remain dead. :D The final part is going to be quite something.
I'm so grateful for being on this journey! I had been sticking around since you started watching the Namek saga. I will dearly miss this content, but I look forward to the future of your channel! :)
Idk if yall knew this but Gohan and goku sound similar cause TFS stayed true to the Japanese dub and had MasakoX do both voices except for like the first two or three episodes where it's someone else.
That “goodbye son” joke finally came full circle here. Gohan had abandonment issues always thinking about his father leaving saying “goodbye son,” but when it finally happens it’s sad and selfless of goku.
The thing I like about their version of Gohan in SSJ2, it is an extension of whenever he would snap and get super angry and powerful. In this form, he is extremely toxic. He hates this, and eventually Cell does understand “oh fuck, this is not fun”. The difference is Goku wants to fight Cell. Gohan wants to *destroy* Cell. He is a being running on catharsis. He sees Cell, and hates him so much he wants to make him suffer
Something important to note about Goku’s instant transmission. Canonically, he can’t just teleport anywhere he wants. He has to lock on to an individual’s energy, wherever that may be. Unlike the gag in the Broly movie might imply, he can’t just teleport into the void of space. Bringing him to King Kai’s was like the only choice he had to minimize the damage. It would only kill 3 people. His other options were Yardrat or Namek, both of which have large populations that would have been wiped out.
While Cell was talking about channeling Vegeta and Frieza during the fight, I don’t know if you noticed but he also channeled Trunks. When Gohan said Cell was boring him, Cell landed in a huge buffed up state like Trunks used when fighting Cell that Cell mocked him for XD
@@Revkor I know he doesn’t have Trunks DNA but you can still channel a person without having their DNA. Gohan was ‘channeling’ Vegeta with his cockiness against Cell as he complained about after Cell blew up. Plus in actual DBZ, that form is based on Trunks SSJ Third Grade with a hint of Giant Piccolo in there since he’s larger than the first time he used it. It’s listed on his page on the DB wiki

16:47 Hoo boy, been waiting for the reaction to this moment, and it did not disappoint. Such a chilling scene, handled masterfully by TFS, and one that reinforced my love for Cell as a villain all over again the first time I watched it
Goku has (arguably) made some really weird choices in all of his major fights in the Saiyan/Namek/Android/Cell Sagas. Letting Vegeta live. Letting Frieza power up to 100%. And then making Gohan fight Cell, right after giving Cell a Senzu Bean. He means well at times. But My. God. Can he be real thick-headed sometimes.
His decisions are indeed weird but they are usually the correct ones. Letting Vegeta live made Gohan and Krillin survive in Namek, he saved everyone's lifes from A19 and A20 and more. Letting Frieza power up didn't do anything. And making Gohan fight was a good idea until he gave him the senzu beam. So it ends up as a 2/3 of Goku's correct decisions.
I've said it before and I'll say it again; Krillin is the only person who seems to care about Gohan's mental wellbeing. Piccolo, Chi-Chi and Goku all love Gohan, but they're all focused on trying to raise him into someone they want him to be. Krillin sees him as a friend who needs his support.
Bro your thinking about it too much lmao Your basing this whole theory on this singular moment Also since when Piccolo wants to raise him to someone he wants him to be???? Better yet since when Piccolo wants to raise him at all??
@@nebbia2453 Since Piccolo kidnapped him to be his minion? And I'm not basing it on this singular moment. Krillin's concern for Gohan is a constant throughout the show. Most notably when they were travelling to Namek and they met the rebel orphans

Gohan's character has always been well written, and while it has a healthy dose of jokes sprinkled on top, this episode actually stays very true to the source material. Worth noting that when Cell lost his cool and Gohan calls him boring, when he lands back on the ground, he has amplified his power as much as possible, but made the exact same mistake trunks did which caused his frame to massively inflate, however Gohan not only rivaled him in power but was also several times faster.
To paraphrase Team Four Star on the Goku moment, editor Scott specifically, you make 'em laugh over and over with the "Bye, son!" running gag, and then you make the audience cry with the last one... 😢 ...and then you make 'em laugh again when he gets King Kai blown up cause he's still Goku. 🤣 Episode 60 is so good, and we're not even done yet. Looking forward part 3, most definitely.
to answer your question on how? in case you haven't watched the original animal dub, cells body is made up of everything that contains him and thanks to piccolos cells to regenerate he only needs one single cell of himself to survive and he can regenerate his whole body back. yeah dr. gero was very thorough in his creation of cell.
Gohan defines the term "Boss" with this episode. He is the the best of everyone in this episode. He has Goku's power, Vegita's temper and sarcasm, and Picilo's directness, and then throw in Chi-Chii's sass for good measure. This is actually my favorite episode of the show although the next 2 episodes come really close.
"Now allow me to reprise..." This is a perfect example of TFS's AMAZING writing: Because not only is Cell Reprising the Letter in his song. Not Only is he Reprising his "Perfect Cell" song. He's NOT ONLY Reprising his Perfect Form! HE'S ALSO Reprising killing the only person present he's killed before: Trunks. It gets played for laughs in the next episode, but this moment is why TFS is the single best Abridging group ever.

I like how gohan's hair between 14:06 to 16:06
changing in Ssj2 to ssj1 to Ssj2
“You’ve become stronger than me…..and now you’ve beaten Cell, you make me proud son”
The surprise ending of the episode was a perfect lead to part 3.
Agreed 😳🤩
_"P is for Priceless, the look upon your faces"_
Looks like he wasn't talking about the Z gang!
Vegeta fans on their way to forget that he didn't defend Bulma and Trunks as a baby from Dr.Gero's ki blast and didn't hug Trunks until he was 9 years old
Yeah, for the most part it's a joke, but what's not a joke is Piccolo being a better father than anyone else in the series.
Idk man he (spoilers for the actual series)
ditched everyone on a whim at the end of Z to run off and train Uub, a kid he'd JUST met
That year we spent in the time chamber was the best year of my life 😢
To answer your question on why Piccolo was not the one to come forward after Gokus sacrifice: So Piccolo is not the type to comfort a person (right away), he would rather Gohan reflect and learn from his mistakes, before offering a word of advice. So he would let Gohan have his outburst, because holding it in would not do him any good emotionally. And Gohan might have done that if Piccolo came forward right away. Maybe? Please add on or tell me if I am wrong saying this :)
Its just probably not his personality in the original series.
That was probably the start of piccolo caring for somebody else
love the callback with the "cells are boring" line.
Also to a callback to Goku vs Freeza on Namek, right before a similar situation where the villain in anger does something that ends him getting him killed but not really
We had missed that callback. Show is definitely one to rewatch multiple times 🤩
I clicked so fast 😅
Same lol
Me too😂
Same!!
Instant Clickmission
I always say "imma save it".....then .01 sec late I'm watching it lmao
The picollo thing maybe is a animation problem. what i mean is there no shot of picollo helping gohan on the OG DBZ so its hard to create one and no breaking the rithm of the scene.
"R for Revolution which *has been* televised." Is a nice touch lol
Nope, two words Ken , Sayian biology.
Cell has it too, which means he too benefits from the "Zenkai " boosts sayians get when pushed to the edge of death, this and in combination with the healing factor of namekians and the infinite energy of the androids is what makes cell so dangerous and considers himself the perfect being.
Probably my favorite episode in the entire series
😎🤟🤩
when gohan calls Cell boring i feel like its a call back to when he was talking about Cells with Chi Chi and said that Cells bore him
I mean….it’s also a callback to when Goku became Super Saiyan the first time and beat frieza on namek.
It's a callback to Goku telling Frieza the same thing.
He is a Super Dee Duper Super Saiyan!
Never thought I would hear Vegeta say that LMAO!
😆
Piccolo is Gohans father figure while Krillin is his big brother. Gohan and Krillin have survived more battles together
Cell coming back make even less sense when you factor in King Kai's planet is in the afterlife.
So Cell just kinda poofed back from being double dead.
(At 9:00) Goku made his own child into a monster.
Bojack: Yargh I be free.
Tfs: Yeah we’re not doin that.
Bojack: But I’m free
Entire dbza cast:: SHUT UP BOJACK.
“I’m not done ripping the wings of this butterfly yet”
“Is that also a red flag?”
“Crimson”
This dialogue is so good.
I love that Perfect Cell was actually afraid of Gohan.
I bring this up because it's easily missed. TFS doesn't go into it at all and even in the original show it's very easy to miss. It's also not a spoiler, just a reminder of previously established lore and facts.
Cell constsis of:
1 part Namekian with Piccolo
1 Part whatever the hell Freeza is
4-5 Parts Sayan (Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Nappa and perhaps Raddiz)
We also know that Cell's regenerative power vastly outperforms that of Piccolo, being able to regrow more than half his body at once, brain included.
Now: What happens when you beat a Sayan to near death?
Damn, Ken's theory of Cell time travelling is better than the actual explanation, which was Cell just went "nuh uh" and winged an excuse.
It's kinda not if you think about it. Perfect Cell is far too egotistical to resort to it. Imperfect Cell and Semi-perfect Cell are too weak to do anything if they do travel back. The combined biology of namekians and saiyans inside Perfect Cell just makes more sense.
@@onemuststand7353AND Frieza who can survive as mere pieces of flesh.
I clicked this so fast that I swear I heard the Smash Bros. "neeeeww record!!" in my head.
Well the Smash announcer Xander Mobus plays Jimmy Firecracker here so yeah haha
The final part is going to be quite something.
To quote cell "p is for priceless the look apon your faces" loved your reaction to cells suprise return XD
7:54 what’s really cool is that this is the first time Gohan ever uses the Kamehameha
30:37 they already explained that when Trunks figured out that nothing he does in the past effects the future because Multiverse theory.
While Cell was talking about channeling Vegeta and Frieza during the fight, I don’t know if you noticed but he also channeled Trunks.
When Gohan said Cell was boring him, Cell landed in a huge buffed up state like Trunks used when fighting Cell that Cell mocked him for XD
not completely, remeber he doesn't have Trunks DNA. him buffing up was the vegeta freeza showing up again
Fun fact: Gohan actually kills 1 more Cell Jr. than actually exists in the original.
That extra Cell Jr. was "Vegeta Jr. Jr."
13:50 such a great moment.. when Ken realize.. "Oh... "...
Trunks is just trying to have fun with the senzu beans and that happens to him
People have probably already let you both know but defijitely watch part 3 until the full end for after credit scenes. There are 2. I've seen some people miss the second one and don't want you both to miss it as it is great! It's been awesome joining you both on this journey through one of my favourite abridged series ever. Maybe FF7 Machinabriged next?
"What is this shit, GENETIC?!?!"
Well...yeah, kind of lol
Cell: Suddenlyyyyyyy, Life has new meaning too meeeee. There's beauty up above and things we never take notice offff. You wake up, and suddenly you're in loooovvvve
King Kai did say Goku would be the death of him
16:47 Hoo boy, been waiting for the reaction to this moment, and it did not disappoint. Such a chilling scene, handled masterfully by TFS, and one that reinforced my love for Cell as a villain all over again the first time I watched it
Good ole fashioned zenkia boost , from sayian cells. You get stronger every time you almost die
Not to mention he now has a Kai gene
Funny how well Piccolos regenaration works with a saiyans zenkai boost
I've said it before and I'll say it again;
Krillin is the only person who seems to care about Gohan's mental wellbeing.
Piccolo, Chi-Chi and Goku all love Gohan, but they're all focused on trying to raise him into someone they want him to be. Krillin sees him as a friend who needs his support.
Bro your thinking about it too much lmao
Your basing this whole theory on this singular moment
Also since when Piccolo wants to raise him to someone he wants him to be???? Better yet since when Piccolo wants to raise him at all??
@@nebbia2453 Since Piccolo kidnapped him to be his minion?
And I'm not basing it on this singular moment. Krillin's concern for Gohan is a constant throughout the show. Most notably when they were travelling to Namek and they met the rebel orphans
@@MrGBH He didn't kidnap him to be his minion lol he kidnap him to make him stronger so he could fight the Saiyans
And all of the trip to Namek isn't canon
@@nebbia2453I hate when they say something isn't cannon, because it is is, it's cannon to the SHOW. They practically have different continuities, even if the same beats play out.
It's not cannon to the manga, but it is to the show, similar to how every movie is cannon in abridged, yet non cannon in the show.
@@michaelgillespie9112 The canon of the show is called filler and the canon of the manga is the only one that matters
Stop saying dumb shit
In the LATAM dub, the narrator says "At that moment, Cell knew what sheer terror really means" after Gohan snapped.
Latin American dubs are amazing, I feel robbed of a proper English dub of Saint Seiya in its proper context.
So apparently it's revealed that because Gohan wasn't as thorough in his destruction of the cell juniors, they survived and later appeared in Dragon Ball super manga.
That final cliffhanger felt just as good as it did when I was a child.
"Anything could set me off, a punch, a kick, a wafer thin mint."
I hope you two recognise the reference to Mr Creosote from Monty python's the Meaning of Life.
This shows that Teamfourstar are quite the men of culture 🧐
Both of you seeing all this for the first time has been such a delight. 😊
Gohan’s beast mode is so crazy unlike any other. He was so calm but so threatening forcing Cell to do something so out of character he rage quit. Goku final speech to gohan was so sweet best father son moment right there . I had to pause when Cell came back singing his song oh damn taht was cold I’m confused too bro
Gohan was more powerful than Cell in his base SSJ form. At this point he dwarfed Cell.
@Mandalore108 no he wasn't. Gohan was comparable to goku who even says Cell was holding back a lot in there fight to keep it interesting.
"What is this shit genetic?!" Technially yes.
To paraphrase Team Four Star on the Goku moment, editor Scott specifically, you make 'em laugh over and over with the "Bye, son!" running gag, and then you make the audience cry with the last one... 😢
...and then you make 'em laugh again when he gets King Kai blown up cause he's still Goku. 🤣
Episode 60 is so good, and we're not even done yet. Looking forward part 3, most definitely.
This will be the biggest cliffhanger for you guys!
It was well done 😯😳😰
Gohan: “WHAT IS THIS SHIT, GENETIC?!”
Me, knowing nothing about Dragon Ball: “kinda?”
goku s sacrifice is such a good pay off of " bye son"
to answer your question on how? in case you haven't watched the original animal dub, cells body is made up of everything that contains him and thanks to piccolos cells to regenerate he only needs one single cell of himself to survive and he can regenerate his whole body back. yeah dr. gero was very thorough in his creation of cell.
Nah Gohan just hit Cell so hard that he spat 17 out
Gohan defines the term "Boss" with this episode. He is the the best of everyone in this episode. He has Goku's power, Vegita's temper and sarcasm, and Picilo's directness, and then throw in Chi-Chii's sass for good measure. This is actually my favorite episode of the show although the next 2 episodes come really close.
"Now allow me to reprise..."
This is a perfect example of TFS's AMAZING writing:
Because not only is Cell Reprising the Letter in his song.
Gohan: "...scared that I'd finally kill someone"
Actually, Gohan, you've killed a bunch of people already. You also blew up a planet, so let's hope that was uninhabited.
WOOH!! Peak dragonball z. Growing up with this was truly amazing. I can only imagine what it was like watching the original airing in japan as a kid. The both of you and your genuine reaction to gohans kamehameha was amazing, cant wait for the next one!
The ideas if those Japanese kids saw these in the late 80s when they originally aired, full ten years earlier than us abroad and if they were 10 years old at the time they'd be in their mid-forties today is mind boggling
I can’t believe that we’re nearing the end of Dragonball Z Abridged!
I’m happy that you guys are enjoying this and thanks for sharing this with us!
*I Senzu need some help?*
😁😄😆😂🤣
I love how you've both been with this series! Can't wait for the next episode! Also excited for Hellsing! It's gonna be a treat!
Lemme just say, Taka (Cell) is a brilliant singer! Soon you’ll enjoy more of his dulcet tones!
I think Cell is voiced by Taka. But I can imagine Lani is a great singer as well.
Vegeta "I can rip you in half!"
Krillin "I know you can"
Vegeta "when did you get the balls"
I love how Vegeta was genuinely impressed with Krillin and because of his guts, let him take 18 and not kill her
You guys are some of the best reactors I’ve seen. It’s a really honest and relaxed kind of reaction, which is really nice to see because it makes me(us) feel like we’re there with you laughing and experiencing this content for the first time. Well done, both of you 😊❤
