They actually did name the creature. The scene where they're arguing about a name, immediately after Valentine's (Kevin Bacon) says "We have got to get out" is when the woman says she's gonna grab Mindy. That's when Walter yells "Graboids! That's it, Graboids!"

I find it amusing that Kevin Bacon disavowed this film for a long time, thinking it would hurt his career in the long term (he only did it because he was a new dad and desperate for the paycheck), but as time has gone by, the love Tremors fans have for the film has changed his mind. He now has said this was some of the most fun he ever had making a movie. It's amazing what time and an enthusiastic fanbase can do. As for me, I really like this film a lot. So much fun.

It's also got a certain efficient way of characterization; you know almost immediately what type of person everyone is, the relationships and interactions between all of the characters aren't in an uncanny valley and feel genuine without forcing anything. And bad things happen but it isn't just because of people with horror-brain; either they genuinely had no reason to expect something, or didn't know what else to do while panicking and in very in immediate danger (like the guy on the tire).

My favorite line in the movie is actually foreshadowing.
"Runnin's not a plan! Runnin's what you do when a plan FAILS." And in the end, Val's plan. . . is run.
Another great thing about this movie is that the characters are smart. Rhonda's the most educated, but everyone puts their heads together to come up with plans and ideas to stay alive. It means the Graboids have to learn and be smart, too, to remain a credible threat. It's a very intelligent movie.

Rhonda's also not the omnidisciplinarian you get in a lot of these films. She's not a biologist, she's a geologist, and it shows in the things she thinks of.

Not only is it really funny when she shoots back "Why do you keep asking ME?" after one too many questions she can't answer, it heightens the tension when even the Royal Smart Person knows barely more than anyone else about what's going on.

When this movie was released, several critics noted that it was very reminiscent of the style of 1950's horror movies. A largely unexplained monster is plopped down in the story, the violence and gore are downplayed or take place mainly off-screen, and the story doesn't take itself too seriously. Suitable for family viewing.

Love this movie, not even watched your reaction yet but got a feeling you will too. In my opinion, the first 4 are the best, the tetralogy ending with The Legend Begins from 2004. The more recent entries feel like Tremors in name only, as the creatures are all CGI and look nothing like what we've seen before. They lacked the heart of the original films made by Stampede Entertainment. The actor who played Earl (Fred Ward) died relatively recently sadly, it was either earlier this year or the second half of 2022 but he had great onscreen chemistry with Kevin Bacon, you really buy into them being good friends.

Missed one of the best pieces of dialog:
Rhonda: Why do you keep asking me?
    Walter: You're a scientist, aren't you?
Melvin: Yeah, aren't you supposed to have a theory or somethin'?
Lampooning the stock sf scientist who knows about every field.

❤ Pogo stick girl? JURASSIC PARK. Walter? BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA, THE GOLDEN CHILD. Earl? REMO WILLIAMS. For cheesy sci-fi horror, this is pretty good. Half the cast has notable credits. Several sequels, some are better than others. Good times, Addie.

This is basically a tribute to '50s monster movies. I actually quite enjoyed this one. To be honest, this is easily the best of the series, and I don't think that highly of the sequels. I've never really thought of this movie as scary.

Tremors was meant to be an homage to 1950's B- monster Movies. and follows those tropes but through a 1990's window.

This series is fun. I recommend to 4 but the rest can be neat here and there. But a creature that takes it's time to study it's surroundings and gets smarter as you're trying to fight it is super terrifying imo. Anyway great reaction as always Addie ❤

This is a vastly underrated horror movie. It's got a great cast, great writing, a unique monster, great practical effects, 1 and nobody does anything completely idiotic (well the teenage boy does but he's a teenager) People do make mistakes but they're not stupid ones or at least not horribly so. It's a movie I thoroughly enjoy.

HEYYY, look who just got 75,000 subscribers!!!
Heyyy, it’s almost November which means no more scary movies for you!! As many sequels there are for Tremors, Scream, and Halloween, you truly don’t have to worry about watching them for your channel. You can do it on your own time.
I would have watched this earlier but I was watching something else for a really good cause.
The movie is called Serenity. It’s amazing!!
