I saw this movie last night. I live 20 miles from where this event took place in 2017. As a rated disabled Vet, this movie hit me hard. I had to wait until the movie theater was empty before I left. I was still active duty in 2017, retired and became a vet in 2019.

As far as the given movie is concerned maybe you could say it's a more serious non comedic version of "Some Kind of Hero" with Richard Pryor if you've ever heard of it. My feelings about the story material are kind of mixed though ...
