In Germany our puplic health insurence is fighting over the pricing and the drug companys are not free on pricing. Weird thing is in this case Lobbying works cause the health insurence lobby.
Insulin in Mexico is only at 25-60 bucks. And in some places you have cheap insulin, but it's free. Don't be afraid to come to Mexico, we are great people who are open to anyone who wants an opportunity to live here. Edit: But please don't take all the insulin in a pharmacy, we also have diabetic people in Mexico. I'm so sorry for your condition in US, GB.

Only those who live in poor areas and drug dealers are in danger. Don't be afraid, at least we won't discriminate you nor get you killed by racist cops :D
When I get the chance, I’m going to Mexico and buy hella insulin. And buy other stuff that America doesn’t have or doesn’t have as good like Mexico lol

@@paulcathcart7896 We're talking about adding pharmaceuticals to our universal healthcare in Canada. I think they're scared to jack up the prices too far, it will only prove the need. My son is on anti-seizure drugs and emergency medication for epilepsy. He has full tonic-clonic seizures without them. We're always on pins and needles, waiting for the other shoe to drop because we never know when he's going to have a seizure. Will he be on his bike riding to his friends house? Will he be climbing a tree? Will he be crossing the main road walking to school? Crazy how Mexicans continue to allow Americans to go there for healthcare and medication despite all the nasty things they’ve said. They have big hearts
True, but I don't think most Americans say nasty things about Mexicans, we just want people to enter our country legally - just like every other country does. We welcome LEGAL immigrants, and refugees with legitimate cases.
We have Americans coming over to Canada for insulin too. I suppose it depends which is closer to where you live. www.cbc.ca/radio/whitecoat/blog/the-soaring-cost-of-insulin-1.4995290 "According to one report, the retail price of a vial of Humalog in the U.S. is $300. In Canada, the same vial costs $32."
As a type one Diabetic my biggest fear is not having insurance, it's happened to my family before and nothing eats your money quite like having to pay for a month of diabetes supplies, let me break it down... Around $300 per bottle-Insulin (2-4 bottles a month) $1 a test strip-Test Strips (5-10 a day, making roughly 150-300 a month) $15 a box-Syringes (that the cheapest way to deliver insulin, but if ur like me you'd have to pay for VERY expensive pump and CGM supplies or switch to lower quality care) This would mean a month as a diabetic with no insurance could be upwards of $1,500 a month, for many people that's their rent or double it. People are being forced to make terrible sacrifices so big companies like Eli Lilly can make money off our dependency. I feel deep sorrow for Alec and his family, I am so sorry for their UNNECESSARY loss. This is why capitalism has no place in healthcare.
Capitalism has no place in healthcare. The industry has been permitted to conduct an honest business here, and has failed enormously. How can this banana-republic-level corruption thrive in the USA? Seriously!

Confused, I talked to a border-crosser and asked him why he is leaving for Mexico, he said with his wage (in San Diego) he can only afford a small apartment in San Diego, but he can afford a farm in Mexico. Free flow of goods and people are the ultimate checks and balances against shady merchants and governments: if you don't find the situation favorable to your liking, just leave. Also, this is why living in the tri-state area is so good: you can live in a state where property tax is low, and go buy stuff where sales taxes are low.

This breaks my heart. My husband is self employed and so we pay for health insurance. His health insurance alone would be enough to cover a second house with taxes and insurance. Of course we don't need a second house but that will give you an idea of the cost. My husband had excellent health until late 2018 when his doctor failed to mention he had an infection. That infection spread quickly to his blood (septic shock) and we weren't sure he'd live. The deductible on his insurance was $7,700, which we gladly paid to the hospital. It would have cost $108,000 for the emergency room and 2 days in the hospital if he didn't have insurance. That is insane. I wanted to give those commenting from outside of the US an idea of how much insurance costs. We are not rich (as you can see from my channel) and thankfully we had savings to pay the hospital bills.
Listen. Drug companies have to pay billions of dollars on testing for medication. License for medication only last 10 years. They have to at least make their money back in only 10 years. Drug companies are being forced to up the prices because if they don't do all the testing they're at risk of being sued.
Yeah that's why this is a problem in America and not other countries...they can do something about it. They are choosing not to and people are dying, it doesn't matter why there is no excuse when other countries are doing just fine.
The MAIN function of law is -- and always has been -- to punish those who PREY on others. The drug companies are straightforwardly doing that, there's just no other way to accurately describe what is being done. I'm VERY pro-business. But a line has to be drawn at the point where companies actually begin to prey on their customers.

This is irritating at how many people believe we do not have generic insulin in the US. Anyone can walk into Walmart and buy generic insulin for $25 without insurance, nor a prescription. This is a communication problem not a real problem.
in my country, hospitals BEG for diabetics to get it from them and to use it. Now, the government made a new law to make sure any medicines are fully use, not going to landfill.
That would liek shooting in our foot economically, add Tariffs and less Americans will come to buy medicines, that is less money getting into the county.
The best price caps are based on the free market. In other words, we need to tear down the trade restrictions on the importation of pharmaceuticals so we can access the cheaper stuff from China or Germany

In Mexico 🇲🇽 universal health care is completely free for Mexican citizens who do not have health insurance. The new universal health of Mexico, administered by the Institute of Health for Wellbeing (INSABI) public care is fully subsidized by the federal government. All Mexican citizens are eligible to receive subsidized health care regardless of their employment status, through a system of health care facilities that operates under the federal Ministry of Health. And the ironic thing is that my country, Mexico is in the process of development or as some say "Third World" but at least here health is not a capitalist business as in the United States.

As a type one Diabetic my biggest fear is not having insurance, it's happened to my family before and nothing eats your money quite like having to pay for a month of diabetes supplies, let me break it down...
Around $300 per bottle-Insulin (2-4 bottles a month)
$1 a test strip-Test Strips (5-10 a day, making roughly 150-300 a month)
$15 a box-Syringes (that the cheapest way to deliver insulin, but if ur like me you'd have to pay for VERY expensive pump and CGM supplies or switch to lower quality care)
This would mean a month as a diabetic with no insurance could be upwards of $1,500 a month, for many people that's their rent or double it. You are certainly free to leave. Where would you prefer to live?
Walmart started a program where they sell insulin without a Rx for $25. You just go up to the pharmacy counter and ask for Novolin. They even ask how many you want, no cap. The Rx my Dr wrote (for cheapest brand) costs $285 per vial. No thanks.
My mom RIP would bye all her meds in Mexico, in the 90s...It was cheaper for her....😥And did pass from this disease....
Sorry for your lost.

Yes.
@Lana Joy lol. America is no joke.
As a Canadian, this feel like a joke, a bad dream or a nightmare, yet, not so long ago I got into a debate with a guy from the US on how bad was Canadian healthcare.
Our government still pay too much for medicine but at least, NOBODY goes bankrupt over medicine here.
The hospital my mom works has a huge supply of insulin and one vial of 10ml something costs about 35 rupees. About half a dollar. And my mom's hospital buys from a private pharmacy. Government pharmacies sell for a fraction of that price. Maybe 10 vials for 100 rupees or 7 vials for a dollar.
This is in India .
Edit- I went to the pharmacy to check the prices. Insulin retails for about 140 rupees for a 40ml vial. That's 2 USD for 40 ml. These are prices for private pharmacies. Government pharmacies sell for lesser prices.

Much relief after going through this stuff ruclips.net/user/postUgkx-ip-9JdKgYMhubLnEjt3OXJkFyS4D2Jd Stress no doubt affects my blood sugar levels. Taking a walk usually help bring them down. Eating sweets is not my favorite, but if i take a large portion of them, my blood sugar level rises high. I think it's the high concentration of the glucose flowing into the bloodstream all at once. This is a lesson worth taking note of. This is a great material to learn from.
Oh we need to fight for it!!
The MAIN function of law is -- and always has been -- to punish those who PREY on others. The drug companies are straightforwardly doing that, there's just no other way to accurately describe what is being done. I'm VERY pro-business. But a line has to be drawn at the point where companies actually begin to prey on their customers.
This has been going on long enough! Let's make these affordable
From the UK here, and I went to the pharmacy after calling my GP to get the exact type of insulin in the photo a couple days ago and I *got it free*

I'm so worried for my son, just turned 19, working at a pizza shop, and hoping he can get a job with quality insurance that he can afford. So....thank you Mexico for cheaper medicine?
I mean we think ALL of Mexico is bad cuz some people sell drugs but most of those drugs are actually medicine to treat stuff
That’s honestly just my opinion
so did u think that mexico are bad? mmm well the mexicans people too?
Keila Benitez 😒🤦♂️ I might of worded that wrong but not all the drugs that come in from Mexico are necessarily bad, but Americans shouldn’t think bad of Mexico because Mexico actually helps Americans more then they hurt,by bringing in drugs like insulin
Any proof that the drug lords/mules are smuggling in medicines to help people, and not heroin, cocaine, etc?
Americans should be able to buy this stuff online. If this was my life or a loved one's on the line, I'm breaking the law.

As a Canadian who recently learned that the inventors of Insulin (at the University of Toronto) sold the patent for $1 in order to make it even more accessible to everyone, this is abhorrent. This is a human rights abuse.
OTC Novolin N insulin at Walmart $24.88 a vial. 31 gauge, 5/16, 30 unit syringes OTC,$12.88 for a box of 100. Reli-on test strips $9.99 for 50. Yes some people can't use this but it can be a lifesaver for those who can.
my country is a developing country and we have subsidy for insulin bcoz its unfair to let people die when this is manageable
I live in a developing country, and the cost of the Nova Rapid flex pen is only about 7 USD. How in the world it cost 245 USD over there???

That lady who lost her son, her clip was on a "Designated Survivor" episode
02:00. As a Canadian, this enrages me.
My daughter has T1D and I’m terrified what will happen when she no longer will be on my insurance and moves out of state. I can’t even fathom what her pump supplies are going to cost her. Not kidding when I say I’m stockpiling every supply reorder whether she needs it or not. I’d rather she have months to figure out the system than weeks. Insulin is something that can’t be stockpiled so well. Has to be refrigerated, and has a shelf life. Canada will be her best bet.
As a type 1 diabetic living in Canada, and who gets all my supplies including pumps, and pump supplies for free, this hurts me to my core knowing that there are people out there that live in first world countries who are still getting the same level of treatment they would be getting 30 years ago but with more expensive prices.
There is a Chinese film called Dying to Survive telling the exactly similar story
And Chapo Guzman is spending life in prison for being a drug lord.. what about this companies?????? Doble standard
So in the UK so long as you have confirmed Type 1 diabetes you get the medication for free.
Just thought I would throw that out there.
Mexico should add tariffs to the medical tourism
No because it would only hurt the people from america coming in. Whats the point of hurting them by making it harder for them to get their medicine.
That would liek shooting in our foot economically, add Tariffs and less Americans will come to buy medicines, that is less money getting into the county.
There needs to be price caps on medicines!
The best price caps are based on the free market.
In other words, we need to tear down the trade restrictions on the importation of pharmaceuticals so we can access the cheaper stuff from China or Germany
One of my relatives pays $400 a month for his insulin, prices have to go down
I have Type one and this sounds so scary. My Parents are blessed to be able to always afford Insulin with Insurance and all of that stuff. I am so sorry but this is a great video to bring awareness to this horrid situation.

I accidentally froze my insulin in Sweden and we had to go pick some up. I have a Swedish pass port but not a “social security” and we don’t pay taxes in Sweden just America, so we had to pay full price which was 20 dollars. I knew it was cheaper but it’s a big shocker when you see it.
