  • I visited Lugar in Ayshire to watch another football match in the bottom tier of Scottish football! I saw Lugar Boswell Thistle v Saltcoats Victoria in the West of Scotland League.
This is grassroots, non league football at it's finest!

One of the most significant amateur football clubs in the United Kingdom is Corinthian-Casuals Football Club. The club was formed in 1939 by the merger of two renowned amateur clubs, Corinthian FC and Casuals FC.
Corinthian-Casuals gained prominence due to their unique style of play and their commitment to the Corinthian spirit, which emphasized fair play and sportsmanship. Corinthian FC, founded in 1882, was known for its elegant, attacking football and influential role in developing the sport's early rules. Casuals FC, established in 1883, was famed for its adventurous and free-flowing style of play.
The club's significance lies in its historical and cultural impact on football. Corinthian-Casuals serves as a link to the origins of the game, preserving the traditions and values associated with amateur football. The club's commitment to fair play and maintaining the Corinthian spirit has made them a revered institution within the footballing community.
Corinthian-Casuals has also enjoyed notable successes on the field. In the 2018-2019 season, they achieved promotion to the Isthmian League Premier Division, which is considered the seventh tier of the English football league system. Their rise through the non-league pyramid has garnered attention and admiration from football enthusiasts.
Moreover, Corinthian-Casuals has a rich history of international tours. In the early 20th century, Corinthian FC embarked on numerous global tours, promoting the sport and spreading the ethos of fair play. These tours helped popularize football in various countries and left a lasting impact on the global footballing landscape.
Overall, Corinthian-Casuals Football Club's significance stems from its historical legacy, commitment to the Corinthian spirit, and its influence on the development and promotion of football as a sport. The club's enduring presence and dedication to amateur ideals make them a cherished and respected institution in the UK footballing community.

This is amazing. I used to report on the Lugar Boswell Thistle matches for the Cumnock Chronicle. My first first date with my wife was at one of their home matches. I have a few fond memories of this tiny village, and the matches. The hospitality of these clubs is wonderful. My funniest memory is taking my wife into the club house to enjoy the hospitality after the match, and being confronted by a naked player heading for the showers. (It was a rear view).
And yet I never knew this about the club. I enjoyed this video so much. Thankyou for all your hard work.

Hello mate, I met you briefly on the last Scottish ground hop and I am a Sunderland fan who has done all the Scottish league grounds. Speaking of bottom of the pyramid, I have an idea for a video for you at some point this coming season. There is a newly formed team just entered the North Riding Premier Division which is not the bottom of the English pyramid but its level 11 so pretty low. North Riding is one of the old 'ridings' of Yorkshire and mostly covers what is now Cleveland/Teesside area and down the coast to Whitby. The twist is they are going to be playing their home games in a Stadium that is bigger than a quarter of the grounds in the English Premier League. Its bigger than Craven Cottage, Turf Moor, Brentford Community Stadium, Vitality Stadium and Kenilworth Road. The team is Darlington United and they have agreed a lease to play at Darlington FC's old ground which is now owned by Mowden Park Rugby club. I know you did a video on this ground in the past but this is a fantastic opportunity to actually see a live game there. I saw quite a few games there in the days when Darlington played there against my teams Sunderland and Gateshead. The games v Sunderland were pre season friendlies whereas Gateshead played Darlo in the league and in an FA Trophy semi final.
