    Honestly, this is where I'd find Bowser stealing Stars in his space at night to be OK, since we have an exact opposite with DK at day. It really reinforces that polar opposite situation and honestly. You'd have as much of a chance of Bowser stealing Stars randomly as much as DK giving you Stars via the roulette, so in my opinion it's balanced very well in my opinion. And besides. Since there's more of these spaces per board than just one, you can actually fight from getting in that space at night and embrace it at day.

  • @MorphBaller388

    Clockwork Castle is actually one of my favorite boards in Mario party six, the fact that Bowser steals a star from you was actually great, because it means that you don’t want to be really close to donkey Kong all the time because the next turn might be having him turn around to get you. The pipes also make getting short cuts really interesting, and lead to some quick escapes or quick catches a donkey Kong. Also, the having two lanes is really important because you might want to avoid Bowser by taking a different path at slightly longer so that you don’t go in front of him, it’s all about spacing.

  • @1cheezyboi31
    @1cheezyboi31 Месяц назад +6

    I have to disagree about Clockwork Castle. The entire point of the map is to get away from Bowser.
    It makes sense if Bowser steals a star if Donkey Kong is how you get them in the first place. It wouldn't really be punishing if you lost coins instead of stars especially if you have a hefty wallet from stealing from others or just being good at the game.
    I get that Bowser stealing stars is a bad thing on OTHER boards since it has nothing to do with the map's gimmick, but on Clockwork Castle it makes complete sense.

    Yes! I think you're the only one who has acknowledged the fantastic side mode Speak Up! It's as much fun if you use the controller option instead of the Mic. Mario Party 6 is my favorite MP, the selection of minigames, boards and side content are superb. Add to all that a unique game changing central mechanic like a day-night cycle and voilá! Also, big shoutouts to the fun bonus minigames like the maze one or Dunk Bros.!
    Next up is Mario Party 7, an interesting and fun new entry. Can't wait for your character ranking due to the special orbs lol

      Thanks so much for watching!! Speak Up really surprised me in retrospect with how fun it actually wound up being. In general I really like the way that Mario Party 6 implemented the microphone, it was used in a really smart way where the game is completely playable without it, but it adds charm in some neat side content. I’m looking forward to continuing this series so thanks so much for supporting it!!

    Very late but happy to see MP6 getting a great video to cover it! Yeah, it's still my favorite MP I think: the graphics are old but still charming; the gameplay isn't as janky as the N64 ones; it doesn't go full psycho like MP9/10 with innovation, but it's still packed with content (unlike the recent ones that skimp on boards and whatnot); and all the mechanics in the Gamecube ones that were rough in the edges (like the capsules you mentioned) are ironed out here.
    Overall, it's still insanely replayable. Loved the video, you highlighted every good part of it, and I'm shocked to see how much I agreed with the board ranking lol.

    Mario party 6 is the game in the entire series that deserves a remake for the switch the most. Apart from adding more minigames and maybe another board, these are some of the changes I would do (Btw I would really appreciate if you replied to this comment):
    1. Increase the price of some of the orbs (like they did in Mario Party 7)
    2. In faire square, a star should never cost more than 30 coins, since you can get stars for 5 coins and it's easy to get stars with the hat shuffle event.
    3. In Clockwork Castle and Castaway Bay, Bowser should steal 20 coins instead of a star.
    Maybe in Castaway Bay if you don't have 20 coins to give him, he should take a star instead, and if you also don't have a star then he just takes all your remainder coins.

    • @marksrecroom
      @marksrecroom  Год назад +1

      Thanks for watching! I’d love it if Mario Party 6 was used as a base for a Superstars 2 that was more geared around Gamecube content (or hey, maybe just a new mario party that uses what works in 6 as a base), but I like your changes here. I do like the brutal nature of 40 coin stars in Faire Square, but hey overall i’d just love it if Mario Party 6 was playable on Switch in SOME capacity lol. Thanks for watching!

      @@marksrecroom I don't think NDCube can actually make a completely new and great Mario Party. I mean their best game was Superstars, which you could say was made by Hudson Soft, and they still managed to downgrade it with their few changes, like for example putting 15+ lucky spaces in every board that give you too many coins and making items too cheap, thus worsening the economy and making 2v2 minigames extremely rare.

    1:00 While this is the last version of chance time you will see (until superstars) I definitely believe it’s at one of its worst incarnations here. This game and 5’s versions of it are both rigged in favor of one side. The version in 5 has nearly every trade that isn’t a swap benefit the left side (the only one I’ve seen that benefits the right side is 20 coins to right, only the left can steal a star or 2, along with the give 20 coins to left) but at least it made sense because if you used it on yourself you would be set to the favored side immediately. In this game, it’s impossible for the right side to lose anything outside of swaps. There are 6 trades you can choose from in the game. Asides from the 3 swap trades, there’s the right side taking 20 coins, a star, or 2 stars from the left side. There’s literally 0 trades that benefit the left side exclusively. Unlike in 5, there’s no reason to favor the right side, as both are decided at random.

    Despite Bowser stealing stars being a unfair punishment, I always have a blast playing MP6 whether 20, 30, 40 or heck even 50 turns since this game is pretty quick and to the point like 2, and 3. Minigames can varied by each, but it’s still a decent selections. Boards in my opinion are one of the consistent selections in any MPs, and there isn’t one board I outright disliked and fun enjoyment in any of them (yes even Castaway Bay lol).
    If MP5 manage to introduced new items mechanic, but failed to execute them, 6 manage to improved them, while having more decisions in your vessel than just getting one on random.
    6 is not perfect, but it’s the one Mario Party I enjoy the most for how innovate, and strategic it can get, and this review is a great way to describe the game. It’s by far my favorite MP.

    Wonderful description of this game! I love Mario Party 6 a lot too but I think I like Mario Party 7 just a little bit better because of the 8-player mode. But what I don't like so much about the Duel Minigames in Mario Party 6 is that there are too many luck-based ones, just as in Mario Party 5 too. Especially Get a Rope from MP5 almost plays exactly the same as Pitifall from MP6.
    And regarding the Orb system they repeated the formula with Orbs and Candy in MP7 and 8. There are still shops where you can buy Orbs/pieces of Candy and spaces where you get random ones for free.

    Mario Party 6 is interesting to me. Throughout my child and teen years, I saw a lot of people talk about how 6 was when the series started to decline in quality, myself included. Nowadays though, I see so many people say how this is the best game in the series. I'm very much a Mario Party 3 guy myself, but with hindsight, I can see why others feel that way. This entry really does innovate with new ideas without taking away from the core, which is what 4 and 5 struggled with. It's a very weird entry for me though, because it doesn't really do anything wrong, but doesn't do anything that exceptional either. The minigames are good, but nothing spectacular. What Goes Up, Pokey Punch-Out, Catch You Letter, and Daft Rafts are all pretty solid, but they're certainly no Pushy Penguins, that's for sure. The side modes are alright, but nothing special. Although this video did awaken a core memory on how much I enjoyed Speak Up. The boards are consistently strong though, with my favorite being Snowflake Lake for the aesthetic and gimmick. And I won't argue against the orbs being a massive improvement. This is just a really solid Mario Party that I never take the time to think about much. I should probably give it a proper replay sometime soon.

      Thanks for watching!! your perspective here is really interesting - while i obviously have lots of praise for Mario Party 6, Mario Party 3 also has lots of brilliance packed into it and it’s one of my personal favorites to go back to. I think for a lot of people, Mario Party 6 marked the point where it may have felt like the series was getting oversaturated, being the third game on the Gamecube with Mario Party Advance and 7 following not even a full year later. and while Mario Party 6 might be my favorite that we’ve covered, I think there’s a strong argument for Mario Party 3 for sure. Its fantastic item system alone simply cannot be ignored.
      Thanks so much as always for supporting this series!

    I briefly played this game and Mario Party 7 as a Christmas present I got on eBay in 2016 and I played it whilst listening to Markiplier videos of him playing horror games. There wasn't much I took away from it other than it was the first time since I played Mario Party DS with my friends that I was actually getting coins to buy some Stars.
    Of the ten original games Hudson Soft made (Mario Party Advance and Mario Party DS included), I think that this is the only one of the ten that seemed to be the most polished because its approach was more accessible and calmer than in Mario Party 7 as that game was full of filler that I'm sure a lot of people would have wanted to avoid when playing a game. I don't think it's iconic as Mario Party DS because there isn't a story mode that I would've wanted to try, but it did a good job at making me teary eyed when I watched the ending cutscene. Something that I think Mario Party Superstars missed the mark on.
