***** But Okinawan can be really dark, and Chinese living clos to Russian border can be really really pale. Majority of Japanese actually live on the same latitude as central Chinese.
***** I guess the Japanese you met are different than ones I met, Japanese at school I attended don't have better skins, they do have good makeup products that cover up their pimples and other blemishes, look better from afar, but up close I could see all the pimples under layer of makeups, many Chinese on the other hand don't use whole lot of make up products. maybe that's why.
If you take 100 Caucasian french and 100 Caucasian Italians. You can tell with 80% just on looks alone. The English look completely different from other Europeans.
Random Person: Ni Hao! Me: Hi but I’m not Chinese. Random Person: Right, so are you Korean or Japanese? Me: Neither, I’m Thai Random Person: Oh I love Taiwan! Me: ...
So basically the moral of the story is that it is impossible to tell the ethnicity of the East Asian person accurately without asking them? Is that a fair assessment?
Yes. As a Chinese myself, growing up in a city where there is a large Korean population, I can never tell if a person is Korean or Chinese unless I hear them speaking.
As a Black American I decided to watch to educate myself on the subject. I did not learn much but had fun watching. It is interesting to note that there are struggles within the Asian population to distinguish between your different ethnic groups. Blacks can usually tell if we are from America or the Caribbean or European or such. Much is from the way one carries themselves. Mannerisms as well as ones features and appearance. With intermingling of cultures and people picking choices outside their heritage makes it difficult sometimes to tell which is which. With the face quiz I wish you had the answer after each one as I forgot what I guessed for most. I did get more than a couple right but again they were just guesses. Your video was amusing. Thank you.
" Blacks can usually tell if we are from America or the Caribbean or European or such. Much is from the way one carries themselves. Mannerisms as well as ones features and appearance." Ok fair enough. But in this video, they were trying tp identify total strangers by just a headshot photo. Do you think it is possible to identify where Black person came from by just a photo? I don't know for sure but I have my doubts...
Try to tell who is Nigerian and Cameroonian from a photo,or a Zimbabwean and a Ivorian. Blacks from America, are mixed,so you have subtle clues. Blacks from Africa on the other hand, are harder to distinguish. Native populations are harder to guess because they aren't as mixed.
But all the blacks whether ,from Jamaica, Haiti or the United States both share ancestry from west African ethnicities.Well east Asian have been different ethnicity for nearly 10,000 years. It's more difficult to tell blacks apart.
I was going to say something similar, except even us Black people can't tell sometimes unless someone has an accent or someone outright states where their from, for example, if someone is from Haiti or an African country. There's also Afrolatinos.
Just here Chillin We dont always get correct but we also can guess it by feature and body too especially japanese has unique jawline, teeth and their legs look different and there is chinese like face/Korean like face(even in bare face) only korean, chinese, and japanese knows.I suck at english so I dont think you understood sorry😂
A lot of Russians have Chinese ancestry hence why some of them look this way, you border China so it’s no surprise that your phenotype may look Chinese, your ancestry certainly would be. Same with Mexican and American Indians who’s ancestors migrated from China a very long time ago.
+Jonathan Tick (PyraXadon) These 3 in the video obviously can't too by the results, only 1 had some luck and got 11/18 , but you can see he's just clueless guessing like the other 2.
+Ad Jackson True, but some parts of the English accent sounds very similar to Australian because we pronounce a lot of our words the same way. (I'm Australian)
Random guy in Canada: Konnichiwa! Me: I'm not Japanese. Guy: So you're chinese? Me: Niether. Guy: So what are you? Me: Filipino Guy: You don't look Spanish! Me: *TRIGGERED* Well, I'm actually mixed.. Japanese. So I lied.
thats what i do asw, person: ni hao me: nani? him: ? me: kimi wa.....anime.......hentai......hai? him: oh your japanese? me: hai. him: ah ok konnichiwa me: jks im chinese.
Malaysia 🇲🇾 I think you could see their behaviourer differences rather than the facial looks. Or another clear difference could be their fashion. I can tell who’s chinese and who’s korean just by looking at what they are wearing
DinosaurFilms That's not racist. If it were, then saying that Greg Davies looks a lot like Rik Mayall would then also be racist, just because they're both white and British. People can look like other people, and pointing that out shouldn't be considered racist.
Ela Mongrella Yes of course you are absolutely right. It was rather meant jokingly in this context because in the video they themselves aren't always able to distinguish asian ethnicities. Therefore one could say that asians indeed do all look the same (not really but sometimes) and therefore it is funny to say that he does look like Jackie Chan.
ROCKOUT x haha "all chinese people look the same" well that's just sad for me because no matter how hard I stare at my dad he does not look like Jackie Chan at all *god dammit*
Actually all white people look similar to us asians, too. Haha. I mean if you're not familiar with certain type of face, it's normal that you can hardly tell the differences. Just like how some people think classical music all sounds the same.
The west is far more diverse in phenotype. Western south euros look nothing like Balkanites, who in turn look nothing like slavs, who look nothing like germanic/celtic europeans.
@Rafael Mendonça Queiroz Nope, that's just piece of the picture. The truth is more complicated. novoscriptorium.com/2019/07/22/a-significant-minority-of-native-american-ancestry-derives-from-a-people-related-to-present-day-western-eurasians/
Now, the thing is that nowadays, Korean, Chinese, and Japanese women look exactly the same because they use the exact same makeup. Korean makeup is actually quite popular among Asians.
I'm Japanese and I can never tell someone if they're Chinese or Korean or Japanese if I meet them by simply looking. It's easy to tell in pop culture or tv because makeup trends and fashion styles are amazingly different in China, Korea and Japan.
Sane happens to me in Europe, tbh. You can usually tell Northern and Southern European apart, because soitherb Europeans tend to have dark brown hair and hazel or brown eyes, while Northern Europeans tend to have lighter hair and eye colour. Also, Northern Europeans are talller. Some people can also make distinctions between west and eastwrn Europeans. I however, can barely tell the difference. Also, though you can broadly diferenciate between grouosnof Northern vs Southern Europeans, when it comes to individuals is a bit more difficult, since Eurooe is a gradient, so most southerners won't look out if place in central European countries. Is he Spanish or Southern German? Is he Portuguese or Serbian? Is he Romanian or French? Is he English or Hungarian? Well, good luck guessing.
natalie mades as an Asian I admit it. Especially when they are whitewashed (no offense), because sometimes you can tell where people from by looking at their outfits(fashion), makeup, or accent which most whitewashed Asian didn't have this kind of characteristics.
One of my coworkers thought I was part Hispanic. And some of my coworkers thought I was Viet. But even though my last name is Viet I'm mostly sure I'm full Chinese. My mom's family definitely from China. My dad's family is Chinese but both sets of his grandparents immigrated to Vietnam and changed their last names because of a rice famine. So he was born and raised in Vietnam to a Chinese family. He could speak Viet, Cantonese, and Mandarin fluently. Whenever I visited my dad's side of the family they spoke Cantonese and lived amongst the Chinese community in SF.
I agree. Also, I’ve seen different Korean people that could pass for probably each asian country. Literally. There are tons of darker Koreans, tons of lighter, etc. I’m sure that’s the same for other asian countries too, many asians look like Koreans.
there are more differences within a population (we could say races) than between populations (besides obvious things like skin color [brown vs pasty white], hair texture [curly african hair vs straight thick blonde hair], or eye color).
Tim Cook maybe that is why korea has biggest plastic surgery industry for foreigners. Chinese, Japanese. You name it. They come to fix their perfect face.
China has 56 different ethnic groups so what you think is not Chinese may be Chinese. My first trip to China I was amazed at how many did not look Chinese to me.
Yeah but this whole quiz is weird to begin with. Like most the Koreans don’t look korean lol. The quiz is designed to make it hard for u to tell which is what
Jacky Phantom Ainus are austronesian, but most Japanese do not have austronesian blood, and most certainly do not look like that. You tell me not to cherry pick yet you are doing the same as well. Most Japanese people do not look like Ken Hirai. Taiwanese people lived among Taiwanese aborigines for hundreds of years, do you think they look like Taiwanese aborigines? In general, no, some do, but most don’t. Similarly, of course some Japanese look austronesian due to admixture with Ainus but most do not. I’d say 85% of Japanese people do not look like that. Like I said, Chinese people can look the most diverse. We have the smallest eyes and the biggest eyes of East Asia. I know you’re a Japanese self hater who wants to be Southeast Asian, and want the physical features that Southeast Asians have but in reality most Japanese 23andme and Ancestry tests often have Korean lineage, not really SE Asians. While Chinese DNA can range from Mongolian to Malay.
Jiwon Lee A lot of Korean people have 'egg shape' or oval shaped faces ... with no surgery. I don't know why Chinese people always try to say we got surgery when we just naturally look like this. Is it jealousy? o_O
People insulting Chinese people sickens me, what have we ever done to deserve hate? I mean there are some of us that are not very well, polite but it's not ALL of us, like wtf guys seriously sense of respect is vanished suddenly. And about this video, I'm Chinese and I get mistaken as Japanese XD
Giam Jackson Yup, she's beautiful and natural and looks completely different from what these jealous Chinese people are trying to portray how Koreans look.
ROCKOUT x I don't get this either... she looks completely different from what they try to portray Koreans look like. And Song Jihyo is completely natural...
Jolly Brancher She's natural, but she's also an outlier. This is just showing what the 'average' Korean person looks like. You won't be seeing people looking like Song Jihyo walking around the city everywhere lol...
My parents and I are ethnically Chinese, have lived in Canada since I was 3 and have Canadian nationality. Many people have guessed I am Korean or Japanese in recent years. My dad thinks Korean is a reasonable guess for me, but absolutely not Japanese. I don't have a typical Japanese face, whatever he means by that.🦄🌞 When we went to Japan in 2017, people there looked as diverse as people in other countries. Obviously, most had black hair and light skin like me, but they had all sorts of appearances too.
I can't tell East Asians (Japanese, Chinese, Koreans, Indonesians, Malaysians) apart and neither white people (German, British, Danish, French, Swedish, Native Americans etc.) from their facial appearances (not language). I can however tell South Asians (Pakistani, Bengladeshi, Indian) and Arabs apart, which most of the white people have confusion in doing (Proof: Alladin). I think it depends on who you grew up with that has an effect on how you can differentiate between races and ethnicities.
arabians, indians, latinos, europeans & a lot of central asians look exactly the same but just a diffetent skin type & skin tone. Look them all, they all have a huge twisted nose with deep eyes just like lion, horse, dog & etc.. personally, i dont understand why europeans wants to become a racist against these same looking races even they got the same look, is it just cuz of skin color? but indians, arabians, latins & central asians got the way hotter skin type & skin color than europeans(dried leathet, freckles & hairs) for sure. is it just a jealous or something? is that why a bunch of european races arw lying down on a beach chair to get tanned in the sunshine to look hot & sexy like others? well if u r, stop saying i hate u & start saying i love u.
I've heard some people say that anime characters are meant to look Japanese but I really don't understand how anyone can say that... Yes they have pointy chins but they are 9/10 white, not that many of them have black hair, the eyes, eyelashes and eyebrows don't look Japanese, and the women usually have HUGE boobs
Not that many white people have pink, blue or green hairs nor red, pink or yellow eyes either. Anime characters are mostly for fantasy and going what Japanese people think is pretty. If you see white or black person in the anime that mostly has japanese people they usually look different from regular anime characters.
+Lemon Vermillion anime characters are sometimes more Japanese in look and sometimes more western. U can't really say as many times the races in anime are actually supposed to be white, like fullmetal alchemist and sometimes they are just out of this world races, fictional races, alien races meh. it's just an art style in.my opinion
A former classmate of mine thought I was Japanese up until last year, and they were surprised to find out I was Chinese (We’ve been in the same class for about 5 school years)
Can't tell Chinese, Japanese, Cambodian, Laotian, Thai, Korean, or Vietnamese from one another. My sister in law is Korean; initially I thought she was Vietnamese. I live in a big city with a very diverse Asian culture ... difficult to tell who is what. Hey, I'm white and I can't tell Irish, German, French, English, Polish, or Russian descent from one another (or Portuguese, Spanish and Italian for that matter), except by surname, or unless I ask.
HongKonger Fighting How does being unable to tell one Asian race from another, make me a crappy liar? Why on Earth would I lie about something like that? I have no idea what I saw... and by calling me a liar, you're being ridiculous.
Because Thais, Cambodians have much darker skin and you can tell their facial features are from being pure Asian and clearly mixed with Indian. Even if you can tell by their facial features how on earth you cannot tell by skin color ?
HongKonger Fighting I don't know which one is Thai and which one is Cambodian, because I can't tell the difference between the two. I don't know which one is Vietnamese and which one is Korean, because I can't tell the difference between the two. I don't know which one is Chinese and which one is Japanese, because I can't tell the difference between the two.
Okay, I guess I have to give you a eye opener experience. You say you can't tell difference between Vietnamese and Korean? here is the difference Vietnamese kids i.ytimg.com/vi/Qc-2kEWmaME/maxresdefault.jpg Korean kids i.ytimg.com/vi/gtfydSvhX7g/hqdefault.jpg Vietnamese generally have darker skin and with mostly big eyes. Koreans generally have light skin with mostly small eyes.
distantly.. no, they're closely related actually. the first nations people from the americas were from asia, and crossed the bering strait when it was covered in ice and formed a brigde between russia and alaska. so calling them native americans is wrong cause they're not native from america, they came from another continent as much as europeans did
@@MybeautifulandamazingPrincess yes and the first europeans were black people from Africa and the first Asians were black people from Africa. So? Point his that most of the continent history was releted to native Americans.
I'm part Navajo, but when I was little, I thought my Aunt on my Navajo side was Chinese. She looked way different and paler from other Navajos I had seen.
Pretty sure i think i would have passed for thai or at least cambodian or laotian i have east asian eyes and some features due to the fact my great grandfather is chinese and the rest is like from south east asia, but im from the Philippines, kamusta ka. I think its how the person's face is made.
For me, SOME Japanese people look so distinctive especially the men. They have more “caucasian” features with very prominent facial bones and pointier noises and more facial hair and slightly darker skin... but only some of them have that. Otherwise it’s impossible for me to differentiate between a Korean and a Chinese tbh. Also some Japanese people look like Chinese/Koreans.
In my opinion, Japanese people generally have sharper facial features than Chinese people. Not more Caucasoid looking, but sharper looking facial features. Chinese people don't have sharp facial features as Japanese people, and a lot of Chinese girls have long legs.
That's what I think. When I watch Japanese old films and drama series from the 1950's-1980's, I notice that Japanese actors & actresses look like caucasians especially Toshiro Mifune. They have double eyelids, pointier and bridge nose and sharp jaws. I even thought that those Japanese actors & actresses from 1950's-1980's are half caucasians. Then, I found out that Japan has different types of people namely *Ainu, Jomon and Yayoi.* The typical Japanese we're used to seeing nowadays have Yayaoi features. Ainu and Jomon have double eyelids, pointier nose, sharp features and light skin looking like caucasians at some point.
@@VC-oo2mi the thing is in indonesia not only consist of chinese-ethnic but lots if ethnicities here. I can differentiate between javanese person and sundanese. We also have papua that look like black person. So its hard to tell native-indonesian because how we look are varied. But sure sometimes its easy to tell chinese-ethnic either by their appereance or even name/family name.
Actually, people from those countries can't differentiate their own people. I am half Chinese half Cambodian and I've been to those 3 countries. I was treated like local people there...
Ask one to sit on their knees. If he/she do it in a elegant, formal way without any awkward he/she is Japanaese, if he/she smiles and do it in a cute, but a little bit awkward way it's a Korean, if he/she ask you for a duel then it's my people. It's a very cliche but very useful way. It's just culturally in Japan and South Korea kneeling it's nothing but a formal way of sitting, but in China it's considered the most humiliating thing.
There are various ways to tell them apart: if you say "B12" and he/she answers, "ah, you wanna chicken with bloccoli?", it's Chinese. If he/she sells flowers in the subway, it's Korean. And if he/she wears a clean suit, is polite but not too humble and looks with disdain at the other asians around, then it's most likely a japanese.
Same here bruh lmao I really do not think it’s possible to judge the nationality apart so easily. (For example, I was mistaken for a Russian before and I was said to look like a Korean kid in my school from the same grade as me. I was also mistaken for a sibling of a Chinese boi with the same last name as me from the same grade. I have to keep clarifying that, even to the teachers. Kinda annoying... but that’s just me.) - A Japanese-Okinawan blooded (American-born) teen.
@@rebee5749 Since interaction among the countries was not common in the past, there are some differences among the nationalities. Also technically, you can find some differences among same races, for example, you may find Arabic is different from German even if both of Arabic and German are categorized as white. Latin is also different from Scandinavian. Since Korea is a homogeneous country, it is common that many Korean are assuming that nationalities refer races.
@Tee D I feel as if you're stereotyping different Asians. Let me tell you, Chinese people can be expressive or non-expressive. Japanese women can be polite or rude. Korean girls can be rude or nice. Korean men don't need to kneel down to beg for their hands because they don't do that. I don't know if they did back then but I'm sure they don't do it now.
+Addie-Eileen Paige Agree. I am Chinese Chinese (not American Chinese) living the states. I can't tell different Asians apart from their look. Myself may be recognized as Chinese or Korean from time to time. I
I know every Asian culture is different, the only way I could tell an Asian apart if I listen to the language / accent. That's the only way I could tell if they're Chinese Korean Japanese etcetera
mhmm same! Mainly I am Mixed Chinese/Filipino Canadian, but my face is more Filipino mainly focused on my eyes, some say i looked spanish on accident, but my vocal tone sounds Chinese in a way.
I can primarily tell by their name or listening their language. A few times I’ve been able to tell solely on physique, but it’s usually about a 35-40% probability chance I’m able to tell nationality solely by look. I’m Hispanic, btw.
Nothern koreans actually fit the stereotype perfectly cause they can't get plastic surgery :) You get confused because all the plastic surgery/beauty marketing on South and how pop culture advertise them looking completely different than how they really look... Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that they are all fake. But I have korean friends and they also fit the stereotype before get got work done (I'm not against it they look pretty and more importantly they are happier!!), but you can't tell they got work done haha... Surgeons are talented nowadays!
***** sorry but I have seen korean with out plastic surgery ( they are family like), and still does not fit the stereotype, thats the reason of my comment.
Daniel Shin sorry but I ahve seen a LOT of korena ebcuase I ahve lived wiht them before, ok? I have also being in kore 2 times. So you ahve not right to tell me what I ahve seen wiht my own eyes, ok?
Daniel Shin LOL your comment is funny, when you are the one generalizing, and guest what? I tecnically borned with does people ( I grew up wiht them) We lived togehter and NO they have no PS. I have seen a lot if my life to know. So try again ;)
the Han is actually not a single ethnicity but large number of people conquered by "Han" who subsequently calling themselves "Han" as well. So Han is just as diverse within itself.
jxw32 is right. Han is just a modern nationalist term because actually properly dividing the ethnic groups would cause disunity (it would split from 55 ethnicites + Han to way over 100)
I remember being in 4th grade and we were learning about Asian culture. I asked the teacher with genuine curiosity how to tell the difference between each ethnicity and she scolded me. Come to realize as an adult she herself didn't know either and the question made her uncomfortable lol
***** hehe no! Im just kidding about being african! :D Sorry! Well, i think Filipino and Mexican looks alike in US, then in China, chinese-filipino are everywhere too! Here in japan i'd know if one is a Filipino, it's the way they walk and dress! :D
Kitsune Ken Here is how you tell the difference between Chinese, Korean and Japanese girls: postimg.org/image/bxdgz0dc7 Created by taking thousands of examples of girls from each country and blending them together to get one average face. It's pretty accurate. Chinese have dark skin, wide faces and flat noses. Koreans have fair skin, round faces and taller noses than Chinese. Japanese have longer faces, high eyebrows and taller noses as well.
wow this is a great combination of pics, the also all look alike on average. But here in kurashiki most women have smaller eyes than the Japanese girl in your img. If you go to hokkadoi or tokyo, people are so white, and down Okinawa have darker skin because of climate. When i see Chinese here i can tell because of how they dress and walk. I then hear them speak chinese so theyre chinese! :D
***** yeah that's how you tell japanese from filipino! Japanese especially girls wals like they have to pee always! And their stance is like not confident, unlike others who has either straight feet or pointing outwards! ;)
I'v noticed that too while I was in Japan, like there was something in their facial feauture that made them look more distinct. Such as higher nose bridges, thicker brows, angular faces, bigger eyes etc which isn't commonly found in other asians. Not saying all Japanese people have these, just that I saw it occur more there than let's say Korea.
Eye size:. Japanese>Chinese>Korean>American Head size American>Korean>Chinese>Japanese Skin whiteness Korean>Japanese>Chinese>American Voice size: Chinese>American>Korean>Japanese Good manners Japanese>Korean>American>Chinese *American = Asian American
+krakoosh1 im half white and half asian. some friends tell me i look asian but others i look white. anyway mixed is good. all people just evolves depending the climate and environment. we all originally come from africa.
+mi lala You then would be called a Eurasian or a Mestiza in the Philippines. You would be considered the most beautiful of women. The best of two races.
yes thats true. well im originally from peru. my blood come from my grandpa who is chinese, grandmother as peruvian aboriginal, and other grandparents are spanish mixed with peruvian aboriginal. thats true it called Mestizo in South America. White or asian mixes with black also is very beautiful race. Mixed is exotic, eh? thank you
Well.. It's hard to say in general but as a Korean, I don't get why Koreans have to be described as squared shape -.- I have seen tons of Koreans who have round shape. It must be accurate cuz I live here. At least, I am the person. This video is so biased... You guys mentioned Chinese are all different because of their huge territory. Korean are even all different in this SMALL country.
Harry McNicholas Haha you must be a westerner guessing from your name. Is this an offense or a joke? Then you guys have round body that can make you roll down the street? Well your comment already makes an error because I rarely eat Mc. but I have r.f lol
ROCKOUT x I'm Chinese, but I live in Canada now, I can say that some Chinese people have no sense of fashion. (I've seen it before, it looked like they just came out from the country side). But since im such a kpop fan. Koreans are hot. Anyways, idk what im writing. But I agree with you xD.
ROCKOUT x lol what? I was actually thinking that drawing was racist, because it made the japanese look really pretty while koreans and chisere looked fugly as hell....
ROCKOUT x :( big jealous. I really hate that most of them say that Koreans all use ps to look better or look at north koreans. Omg majority of chinese woman go for ps and extreme make up. Korean girls and guys really pretty) and have inner nice perconality(Im not Korean). Most chinese ppl i meet was rude.
I go by hairstyles.japanese dudes have final fantasy style while Koreans go by tae yang and g dragon haircuts and chinese guys...to put this simply bowlcuts.
I just want to say that I hope u guys know that lots of Koreans and Japanese these days doesn't always have small eyes big cheek or whateve.. and they are NATURAL. I just don't feel good when ppl find someone prtty who is Korean or Japanese or chinese they always say plastic surgery first(especially Korean...) Please ppl these days always don't look like that in the vid:(....
ROCKOUT x It's because of unsanitary conditions in china, and lack of medical technology, and criminal doctors. It's sad, they need to fix their face but can't do it in their own country... Sad or funny, actually.
ROCKOUT x Well, clearly these people are delusional liars in denial. Your first comment is right. I've reported this video, and suggest anyone else to do the same.
Lol if you're asian, and you saw too many asians in your life...You could easily tell if they're chinese, filipino, japanese, korean, indian, malaysian, vietnamese, etc. Yes I am asian and I lived around asians, but I'm sure all of you that are not asians are great at this too!! You just have to know how we asians from different countries really look like! Oh..And I'm Filipino/Korean/part Japanese
I was quite upset seeing the replies of "Koreans look beautiful" is "Plastic surgery" do you really think that many of us do surgeries like making jawlines "V"line? I swear, frankly saying I have seen many of my friends doing double eyelid surgeries.(Although that many means 3or 4people around me.) However, doing jawlines and other surgeries are rare in korea. I have seen that some research suggested that over 50% of Korean women had done plastic surgeries. That plastic surgeries might include double eyelid surgeries. What I wanted to say was, please don't think that Plastic surgeries in Korea is making the face unrecognizable. I was so stuffy seeing all those comments.
isn't plastic surgery part of the korean culture cuz i heard that theres many plastic surgery clinic in seoul, and i guess its normal if u get plastic surgery. by that i mean u dont get make fun of.
Same for Middle East, Africa, South America, Europe, etc. there are subtle difference but with makeup or hair cut really it's hard to distinguish, but who care, it's their personalities that matter.
lmao its not that serious. It's their opinion and if they truly think koreans, chinese, and japanese people look like that then they're just embarrassing themselves.
i just said that its their fault for not knowing anything. If they say i look like a human square then let them say that, they are the ones look stupid not me. I'm not going to go all crazy and waste my time on this thing.
ROCKOUT x You're so freaking obsessed. Jesus, there are like 3 kinds of Internet Koreans. One that don't care. One that start shouting Pan-Altaic shit and how they're related to Mongolians and how they look Mongolian and are superior altaic peoples with small eyes and large skull. Then they have you ROCKOUT x who say they have large eyes and oval face. Make up your fucking minds.
I, as an American, find it impossible to differentiate, just as I find it very difficult to tell a fellow American from a Canadian, German, Dutch, Belgian, etc. The only way I could have a prayer of guessing right with Asians, including Vietnamese, Laotian, Thai, etc., would be to ask their name, then take an educated guess, since I'm familiar with Americans of those nationalities, even here in my city.
Some Japanese look Korean or Chinese, some Chinese look Japanese or Korean, some Malays look Chinese, some Indians look Europeans, some Africans look Egyptians. These three are dumb to teach people how to tell the difference among Chinese, Japanese and Koreans when the guy on the left looks like Tibetan and the right looks like Nepalese and the woman looks like a product of Korean plastic surgery. I am Eskimo but some people mistake me as French and some mistake as Nigerian.
+Doyan Yekimgoska African's were the original Egyptians. In fact African's are still there in Egypt and currently being discriminated against by the now Arabs who took over.
+Doyan Yekimgoska Well, the most 3 look alike areJapanese Chinese and Korean.. :) the culture a bit same and they are yellow skin, they used chopsticks to eat.. and they also write Kanji..汉字.. You mean malays or eat food with chopsticks? No right?Thats why they teach you how to tell the different amoug of them.. Are you piss off becouse they didnt mention your race here?umm maybe you can make your own video look alike between you race and other races..
theres an old saying: there are three thing that can turn you into a totally different person - Japanese makeups, Korean plastic surgeries, and Chinese photoshop skills.
+Lisa O Obviously correct, though in some cases (as I hear from good sources) that is the result of artificial procedures. What concerns scientific anthropology, though, in making comparisons between ethnic groups, is the relative FREQUENCY of a given feature. The 'epicanthic fold', as it happens, is not limited to people of 'east Asian' descent. There is no attempt here to be 'scientific' or 'objective'. That is so often the case when people discuss issues of 'race' or 'identity'. As many of my Korean brothers and sisters in faith will agree, there is an identity higher than that of nation or race-----------------being part of the universal Church, a follower of Christ.
@Joselene Lu Learn to read more accurately before commenting. EVERY WORD, not just some words! I mentioned a procedure which is used in SOME (repeat: SOME) cases. but I never contradicted your fact. I have known and observed hundreds, maybe thousands of Koreans of all ages, and I agree that your proportion sounds about right. Are you one of these amazing people who is spoiling for a fight, who will oppose me on the basis of things which I have NOT SAID? I hope not. You really ought to retract your comment, seeing that it was misdirected.
@@Ziaotic Safe to assume what? What are you talking about? What does it matter, what kind of eyelid formation people are born with? Or do you wish to define the word 'plenty' in terms of percentages? Go ahead, but you're on your own there. Find something more worthy of discussion. For example, this: (John 3:16) 'For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.'

So basically the moral of the story is that it is impossible to tell the ethnicity of the East Asian person accurately without asking them? Is that a fair assessment?
Unless we go by their last name, I’ve come to realize.
Yes
Can you differ asean regions
I think it's best to tell by their mannerisms, style, and skin tone
Thank you.
Came for same reason I'm pretty good with Koreans but it's hard to to tell Japanese from Chinese

I feel better. Even Asians have a tough time differentiating between Chinese, Japanese and Koreans

@@erenyeagerist7681
Actually the ones who look “caucasian” tend to have darker skin tones.. the light skin tone is coming from the Chinese invasions.

Can Indonesians tell between a chinese-ethnic and a native indonesian?
@@VC-oo2mi the thing is in indonesia not only consist of chinese-ethnic but lots if ethnicities here. I can differentiate between javanese person and sundanese. We also have papua that look like black person. So its hard to tell native-indonesian because how we look are varied. But sure sometimes its easy to tell chinese-ethnic either by their appereance or even name/family name.
Actually, people from those countries can't differentiate their own people. I am half Chinese half Cambodian and I've been to those 3 countries. I was treated like local people there...
Ask one to sit on their knees. If he/she do it in a elegant, formal way without any awkward he/she is Japanaese, if he/she smiles and do it in a cute, but a little bit awkward way it's a Korean, if he/she ask you for a duel
then it's my people.
It's a very cliche but very useful way. It's just culturally in Japan and South Korea kneeling it's nothing but a formal way of sitting, but in China it's considered the most humiliating thing.
AJ River Very interesting information.

How to Chinese people pray?
Nice. I learned something new today.😊
Master Oogway No religion so no need to pray.
This was so much fun to watch!
*I can only tell if a person is Asian or not Asian.......I can't tell the race apart lol!!*
Same here bruh lmao
I really do not think it’s possible to judge the nationality apart so easily. (For example, I was mistaken for a Russian before and I was said to look like a Korean kid in my school from the same grade as me. I was also mistaken for a sibling of a Chinese boi with the same last name as me from the same grade. I have to keep clarifying that, even to the teachers. Kinda annoying... but that’s just me.)

Asian is a race. Chinese, Korean, Japanese, etc. are nationalities, not races.
Asian is way different people you should call them Mongolians because there are Indians in Asia even them are Asians.
@Tee D
I feel as if you're stereotyping different Asians. Let me tell you, Chinese people can be expressive or non-expressive. Japanese women can be polite or rude. Korean girls can be rude or nice. Korean men don't need to kneel down to beg for their hands because they don't do that. I don't know if they did back then but I'm sure they don't do it now.
I'm Chinese and I can't tell different Asians apart.

I’m Hispanic, btw.
there are a lot of natural koreans, that does not actually look anithing like you discribed here
everyone is jumping in to the band weagon :P
Nothern koreans actually fit the stereotype perfectly cause they can't get plastic surgery :) You get confused because all the plastic surgery/beauty marketing on South and how pop culture advertise them looking completely different than how they really look... Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that they are all fake. But I have korean friends and they also fit the stereotype before get got work done (I'm not against it they look pretty and more importantly they are happier!!), but you can't tell they got work done haha... There is over a hundred Chinese ethnic groups.
Valan Sultanna People generally mean 'Han Chinese' when they're talking about Chinese people x
the Han is actually not a single ethnicity but large number of people conquered by "Han" who subsequently calling themselves "Han" as well. So Han is just as diverse within itself.
jxw32 is right. Han is just a modern nationalist term because actually properly dividing the ethnic groups would cause disunity (it would split from 55 ethnicites + Han to way over 100)
Valan Sultanna to be precise, 88 ethnicity in china. Haha I learned that from my tour guide

Kitsune Ken Here is how you tell the difference between Chinese, Korean and Japanese girls:
postimg.org/image/bxdgz0dc7
Created by taking thousands of examples of girls from each country and blending them together to get one average face.
And their stance is like not confident, unlike others who has either straight feet or pointing outwards! ;)
***** nope! I have mix with spanish lineage, dad's side.
Maybe its just me but i always had impression that Japanese actually looks more Caucasian - like, than Asian - like
I'v noticed that too while I was in Japan, like there was something in their facial feauture that made them look more distinct. Such as higher nose bridges, thicker brows, angular faces, bigger eyes etc which isn't commonly found in other asians. Not saying all Japanese people have these, just that I saw it occur more there than let's say Korea.

Korean are even all different in this SMALL country.

romanticscent89The only ones with round shape are those that have been dining too much at McDonalds.

I just looked at the picture at 1:11...It's all wrong...Well, it looks wrong.
ROCKOUT x agreed with you 100% this picture pretty racist. My opinion Chinese ppl not look like. Mostly it's look like half-asian girl :D
ROCKOUT x You have too much hate…you sound so prejudiced, just like this silly video.
“Difference?” “I THINK NOT!”
Three Chinese.
And they seem very racist towards Koreans, not just in this video but many other videos.

ROCKOUT x got shit slammed, hahah, keep provoking us....
jxw32 no, i'm not danny chan.
ROCKOUT x yawn, going to sleep, i'll see what else you'll post next day.

I was so stuffy seeing all those comments.
yup its rare in Korea and china
also, these surgeries are common between famous people not all
know it correctly you should Finally someone wrote a comment by who has brain.
North Koreans don't have plastic surgery, and how many of them look like Kpop people? Solid proof of plastic surgery.
maybe because they are malnourished..?
isn't plastic surgery part of the korean culture cuz i heard that theres many plastic surgery clinic in seoul, and i guess its normal if u get plastic surgery. by that i mean u dont get make fun of.
Same for Middle East, Africa, South America, Europe, etc. there are subtle difference but with makeup or hair cut really it's hard to distinguish, but who care, it's their personalities that matter.
Nope. Wrong comparison.
omg no korean i know looks like what you guys described omg
i know for a matter of fact that i do not look like a human square

Oh right 정정은, you look like a human square and if you don't, you've mostly done plastic surgery! You're not offended by that? Okay, whatever.
i just said that its their fault for not knowing anything. If they say i look like a human square then let them say that, they are the ones look stupid not me. I'm not going to go all crazy and waste my time on this thing.
ROCKOUT x You're so freaking obsessed. Jesus, there are like 3 kinds of Internet Koreans. One that don't care. Then they have you ROCKOUT x who say they have large eyes and oval face.
Make up your fucking minds.
wakaka2waka People have different opinions. Deal with it. I could say the same about Chinese posters. Have some manners.
The same goes for Blacks and Browns too, mate.😎
European is much easier, germanic vs southern europeans is supereasy
Some Japanese look Korean or Chinese, some Chinese look Japanese or Korean, some Malays look Chinese, some Indians look Europeans, some Africans look Egyptians. These three are dumb to teach people how to tell the difference among Chinese, Japanese and Koreans when the guy on the left looks like Tibetan and the right looks like Nepalese and the woman looks like a product of Korean plastic surgery. I am Eskimo but some people mistake me as French and some mistake as Nigerian.
Egyptians are African.

Are you piss off becouse they didnt mention your race here?umm maybe you can make your own video look alike between you race and other races..
Dan: Oh yeah I can tell easily, there are distinct differences.
The results: No you cannot, and no there aren’t
The only thing I got out of this video was that not even Asians can tell each other apart.

your description of Koreans having monolids are wrong. some do, some don't.
And some have one monolid and one double lid
+Lisa O
Obviously correct, though in some cases (as I hear from good sources) that is the result of artificial procedures.

Safe to assume what? What are you talking about? What does it matter, what kind of eyelid formation people are born with? Or do you wish to define the word 'plenty' in terms of percentages? Go ahead, but you're on your own there. Find something more worthy of discussion. For example, this:
