Enjoyed your adventures again. As mentioned before, we are doing almost the same trip as you from September 10 to 20, with the difference that we will also dock in Messina and Valetta. We visited Pompeii in 2021 when we were on a cruise with MSC. We had booked a tour with a guide who told us a lot and was very educational. It's a pity that you are not disembarking in Cagliari, then we could have prepared ourselves a little for what awaited us there. But we'll figure that out ourselves. Greetings from Belgium from Frank and Anita.
So glad you enjoyed our adventure. I think we would have enjoyed Pompeii more with a guide. But we wanted to try a few different ways to see the sites. Cagliari looked picturesque but we learned we really needed a sea day on our adventure. You’ll have to let us know what it was like when you get back.😁🚢
@corefouradventures2861 I'm a big history buff, and so I'm really looking forward to Rome and Pompeii. I've always wanted to go. In fact, it's what led to us booking the cruise. We're from the UK and were just going to take a weekend trip to Pompeii. But then the idea of a cruise came up so we could see it all. We've booked the hop on hop off for Rome with a full tour of the colosseum and a guided tour through Pompeii. Can't wait 🙂
@@Mike-tb9xq oh! You guys are going to have the most amazing time!! Kind of wish we’d gotten a guided tour of Pompeii in hindsight. But it was still really cool to see. But we wanted to try one with a guided tour and one with a self guided tour. For us having the knowledgeable tour guide was definitely better. I think you’re making a great choice! The history there is palpable. It was so so cool. Have an amazing time!! You’ll have to come back and let us know how it went.😁🚢

I'm going on the Escape at the end of September this year. So excited! I'm enjoying your videos from your trip and was wondering, with the free beverage package do you still tip when you order a drink?
@@amygibson4842 It is certainly not required. We had a couple favorite bartenders that we tipped on the 1st and last days. Always feel like I get a little better service that way. But they will take great care of you even if you don’t give them an extra tip. Hope this helps! You’re going to have an amazing time!! Absolutely love the Escape!!😁🚢
We will be doing this exact same itinerary in November, and really enjoying these videos! I had a quick question about Pompeii, we’ve booked the Pompeii on your own trip through NCL that leaves the ship at 8:30am, what time did you guys get to Pompeii and what time did you have to be back at the bus? We’re just trying to decide on whether to book a guided tour if it’s do-able time wise. Thanks so much for the informative videos!
@@xTheKensterx we arrived at Pompeii about 9:30 AM. And the meet up to go back was at noon. It takes about an hour each way. We were back on the ship by 1 PM approximately. You could easily do a two hour tour with a guide. We found that the audio guides weren’t very reliable. But we still had a lot of fun and learned a ton of things about Pompeii doing it on our own. Hope this helps! 😁🚢
Many years ago when we visited PomPei there were stray dogs just hanging out throughout the location. They didn’t bother anyone and seemed like they were almost guarding the grounds…it was kind of eerie. Was it like that now?
@@shelleyburnette5071 Absolutely! The walkways are a little uneven and bumpy. Having something to help steady you through it would be wise. The roads had good sized ruts in them from the carts they used. And, the sidewalks were better but, they weren’t super smooth either. Lots of tripping hazards for sure. We even saw someone take a fall while we were there. Hope this helps! Have a great time!!! 😁🚢
Do you have a link for the excursion you used in Pompeii? Also, did it include Skip the line tickets or did you have to wait in line to get your tickets?
@@erikadean7170 We took the Pompeii on your own bus transfer through the cruise line. Then, when we got there we had gotten an audio guide tour through Get Your Guide. We had tickets through that so we didn’t need to stand in line for tickets. There was a short line to get in through security. It took less than 5 minutes and even guided tours had to go through it. Hope that helps! 😁🚢
