The ink itself is important, too. Some are "wetter" than others, some pens write wetter, too. A perfect match up of pen, ink and paper will make fountain pen writing downright sublime.
You summed that up so well! I have three pens that I consider “married” to particular inks, because they never have problems with consistent flow, cleaning, or leaks. Also, the pen color and ink color generally go together well. It’s such a happy occasion when I figure out a perfect pairing! (Like my Pelikan M205 with Taccia Uguisu, or my TWSBI Rose Gold with Diamine Ancient Copper. Happy pens with gorgeous inks.)
For students, i guess y’all can add Maruman’s loose leaf paper to the mix 😌 it’s what i’ve been using and so far it’s smooth and little to no bleed through!
I agree with Kymberly and Angela. Try a cheap but good one like the Preppy. They come with a cartridge, so you don’t have to worry about ink at first. It’s all about writing easily, very little pressure. Enjoy the act of putting pen to paper. You will feel more elegant and beautiful if you let yourself! Hugs, hope you try.
It surprises me how few journalers on RUclips use FPs. Most of them love using such a variety of pens and colors I would think the versatility of FPs would call to them

Hey Jetpens! Do you have a blog or video about fountain pens and what to do if the ink has stopped flowing? I stored it properly and none of the sites I’ve checked out have helped :/

Sounds like the pens cap didn't seal properly. Fountain pens normally write pretty well even when they were not used for quite some time... I never had problems with ink leaking through the nib - sounds like you could give it another try. Though I understand if you're just not a fan

My Kanso Noto book is neither worth the hype nor the money. It is is step above Moleskine but that's not saying much. It must contain the new Tomoe River paper, as the paper is rough, prone to feathering, liable to jam nibs with loose fibers and does not allow the extent of shading characteristic of the original Tomoe River paper. When the current book is full, I will not be replacing it with another Kanso Noto.
