He seems to think that by using an overly complicated vocabulary and blathering on makes him sound intelligent. It just makes him sound arrogant, like he is trying to make sure you know he is 'smarter' than you are. On the episode where he tries to do the redemption tattoo, he throws a mini temper tantrum because the lady got his awful tattoo fixed without 'asking him first'. Like GTFOH, ya doofus. If someone churned out some crappy work, regardless of what it was, and I had to at my expense get it fixed by someone else? The LAST thing the person would want to do is chirp about me having done so, unless they're offering to pay the bill.

Saw Mystical Mike at the Minneapolis Tattoo Convention yesterday. He did 4 pieces on 2 friends. Was surprised how focused he was on each piece despite the atmosphere being super crowded and loud, and made sure they were both comfortable and happy about the piece, and didn't act the way he did in the videos-- very impressed on his character development

Literally. I'm from NC and had to rewind the video. My best guess is that they were alluding to the fact that Boston is in the north, but still, it wasn't fitting and was just awkward. I get heated because this channel CONSTANTLY mispronounces artist's names that are clearly said on the show. Tony Medellin for example. They're always mentioning him in other videos but don't care to say his name right😂

Some of the tattoos on that show are absolutely horrible. I don't know how many artist could actually look at them and think it's ok to let that go on someone. And there's aren't ink masters they're rank amateur nobodies because real artists don't go on the show. A few of them were really good but usually the winners only

I had a friend who was on the show, he was basically only a part time artist and made terrible tats in most of the challenges, but still wound up like 7th place. I was gonna get a tat from him after the show, but once I saw his stuff I decided against it lol.
I think it depends bc the time really gets to people. Like Cleen is actually a lot more diverse in real life and his insta shows how awesome his tats are. Bubba was eliminated early in his season but his work is great. Actual artists take their time and it seems that as long as you can finish you pass the round.
The thing that seperates cooking comeptetions Vs. tattooing competetions are the consequences. When you flop a dish, the worst is that someone goes home hungry but when you flop up a tattoo, you are actaully hurting people.
Reading through this, got me wondering about a season four Roland; and by confirming it was he whom I thought off; in the process I found out Season four champ, Scott Marshall had died.
I'd say Kyle Dunbar is awful I mean, the guy couldn't take the pressure and said the judges shouldn't be on a "level of judgement" forgetting he was in a competition
A lot of the footage showing Kyle Dunbar Not taking the pressure has been heavily edited since it’s a TV show- while it still wasn’t right, the judges were egging him on throughout the show as well. Compared to the last artist who reappeared for another season at the time (Tatu Baby), they treated him much worse than her even though she didn’t do too well at certain points during her time on season 3. Even though it’s a competition, it’s good to remember that scenes and events are heavily edited to make them more dramatic.
I don't understand why anyone goes on this show, people aren't treated with respect or dignity, to be called a canvas is bad enough but then they give you a tattoo you don't like or isn't finished, a good tattoo takes time not to be done against the clock - duh 😖😱🤔
It's not just that Mystical Mike and St Marq were bad artists - although they were. It's that they were so incredibly arrogant and clueless. There is a reason people loved Tommy Helms and Sarah Miller - they were good artists and nice people (even if Sarah was a little too high strung).

I usually go to St. Marq’s shop in Indiana for piercings etc. he’s usually there whenever I go and I’ve always had positive experiences with his team besides the first small tattoo i got by an apprentice. It was my first ever tattoo so that’s why I’m assuming a newer artist did it considering it was a small line work heart. Luckily I called and had another artist fix it about 6 months later and it looks so much better now. Their team is always friendly and Marq is a really cool guy. His shop is always the go to for Purdue college students and townies.

I saw a tiktok where the girl that got the music symbol on her arm by mystic Mike went to a different tattoo Studio and got to cover up over her tattoo by him. I don't quite remember what it was, but it may have been a Galaxy. I greatly hope that she got a wonderful tattoo cover up that she greatly enjoys now

We don't all know back tattoos hurt when I went in for my 8 hour back tattoo I didn't think it was gonna hurt at all. Quickly found out it hurts a bunch but had no idea beforehand
I will never understand this. Why do people even volunteer for this if #1 they aren’t flexible on what image the tattoo with be and where it will be placed and #2 can’t handle the pain of a tattoo, like at all?

I think St marq was in for the clickbait. He’s not amazing, but he is no where near as bad as mike, Maddie or Roland.

Some seasons have had more good artists than others...I would say some seasons have had at least 5 or so good artists.

I got a tattoo from mike and I was outraged! I demanded to talk to a manager! I wanted mike Tyson’s face tattooed on my face and he gave me mike Tyson’s tattoo on my face. How could you get that wrong! It took so long to scrape to tattoo off. Don’t buy tattoos from mike or get a tattoo of a guy named mike ever!
