I guess that's why he didn't win right off the bat. Yes a few tattoos on the show are very bad but most that get a artist kicked off are good. It’s quality work you can get at any shop. The judges have to pick apart theses tattoos to get to a winner. Most of the time I would have never seen what they were talking about if it wasn’t pointed out. The issues would never be seen in daily life.

Those shows put people under stress to try to bring out the worst in them. It's valid because it's supposed to be a stress test that separates the inexperienced from the experts but I'd never take anyone's behavior on a show as a reflection of their actual character.
I'm pretty sure the thing that set Kyle over the edge was Chris saying he should've been in the bottom the week before, when the other judges liked his tattoo
I think the reason fans like him so much is because they can see through the character he plays. I totally get the impression that he’s probably a softy.

@@IHamDogg That's literally the point of the show though. To be judged on your work after every challenge, and his work had to fit the theme. Yeah, maybe some people who weren't as consistently good as him made while he didn't, but that's not the way the game works. You either fit the theme, or you lose for the week. Plus, it was already season 3, so he knew how the show worked! If he couldn't take the constructive criticism, then he shouldn't have joined the show. It wasn't like this was Hell's Kitchen where he would get ACTUAL verbal abuse and still be expected to work. He was judged and critiqued and expected to learn and grow from that. Clearly he couldn't handle that like an adult. I mean, unless the fight was COMPLETELY staged, it is unacceptable for an adult to try and punch someone for not giving more positive critiques. As much as he compared himself to a dog, he isn't one and was expected to act like an adult man!
I also have to say that Scott Marshall had terrible art and also hurt most of his canvases. He was hurting his last canvas to tears in the finale. He also would say many things to his canvases like “You’re the one getting a free tattoo so you have to deal with what I put on you.”
Honestly the impression I got during Kyle's second season was that he was psychologically not in a good place and the stress was seriously wearing on him. Not an excuse for the behavior but he didn't read to me like a generally violent person, just someone at their breaking point.
I agree. There’s no reason that someone as talented as him could put out some of the bad tattoos he did except for extreme stress. He’s not wrong that they focused in on him.
I think Kyle gets a bit of a bad rep. Not trying to defend his behavior but just like how tattoo baby almost broke in her second season it's a super stressful environment being critiqued over and over again especially with other toxic contestants.
