Devastating news especially without her offering the project a base to begin with and putting up with neighbour problems my condolences to the family That transom cap looks great well done 😊😊
What a kind and respectful message Leo (and Tally Ho community) to let us know she passed peacefully, and her way. Her memories will be the wind in Tally Hos sails. Godspeed
Raul looked so tired, lost, and broken. If you see this message take. A minute and try to visualize him being happy and worry free surrounded by people he loves, or send him a prayer. Rest in peace you beautiful thing.
"It's amazing what a boat can do" No truer words have EVER been spoken. I don't think the full impact of your project will ever be fully understood. I like many others found it during Covid. An outlet. A window. A vision. A place for sanity. A place of hope. Although I have never met any in person , I feel as though I am hanging out with a group of friends. The outpouring for Raul and Darlene further proves there is a large group of like minded folks hanging out too! Hasn't always been fun , but it has been real and THAT is much appreciated. Thank you to Leo for having the tenacity not just to take on the project but for the willingness to document the journey so we all can come along for the ride too!

Yep I’m crying several thousand miles away in England for a person I’ve never met. This boat really has created a family hasn’t she. My thoughts to everyone.
RIP Darlene. I still remember her crying when Leo moved out. At that point I knew she loved him as her son. Thank you Leo for filling her (and Raul) last years with joy and happiness
Darlene is not suffering anymore but I'm sure Raul will miss her terribly. The kindest people like Darlene think of others before themselves - rest in peace and strength to Raul.
A wonderful sentiment!! I agree wholeheartedly with ever word. Very well put. Love from Sweden. Rest easy Darlene, and I wish Raul all the strrengh he needs.
A very Dear Friend of mine also passed during the build time of Tally Ho, he was the one the made me aware of this Video series. He was a passionate sailer and donor to this wonderful project. I just wanted to acknowledge him and the great many supporters of this immense project. A Special thanks to Leo and his team. Peace to all.
Rarely do we get the chance to see people with such a deep and all encompassing generosity as Darlene and Rahul. As good of a shipwright and project manager as Leo is, I think his true super power is to surround himself with people of genuine integrity and spirit.
Had the honor and pleasure of meeting both Darlene and Raul at the open house. Raul mentioned Darlene's health struggles to me, but you would have never known talking with her. She radiated a brilliant warmth and contentment during our brief conversation. Sending all my positive vibes and thoughts to you Raul.
From Ireland 🇮🇪☘️. Deeply saddened by this news. Have been following Tally Ho since the beginning. The wonderful generosity in all it’s forms by so many has been more than heart warming and uplifting. RIP. Fair sailing.
Leo, that was a lovely and appropriate memorial for Darlene. To handle that with such calm eloquence, during your own grief, is another reason for us to admire and respect you.
I've just realised how tied up mentally and emotionally I was with Tally Ho and all who have been involved in her reconstruction. This news has brought me to tears. I have followed from the beginning. My respects go to the family along with thanks for what you did for Leo and the boat. God bless you in this life and the next. Greetings from Essex, UK.
I remember seeing your first workshop and thinking, "Who shares a space like that?" Then you introduced us to Darlene and Rahul and it all suddenly made sense. Darlene and Rahul are a rare breed and they will forever be part of Tally Ho in my mind. Thank you for sharing her kind message.
RIP Darlene and my prayers for Rahul. I am struggling with my own health issues and just yesterday I found out my college roommate from 1976 died in a motorcycle accident 3 years ago during Covid lockdown. He survived 5 weeks in the hospital and they only let his wife in to see him twice. I feel blessed for the time God has given me with my wife of 30 years. The Tally Ho will forever be a part of Darlene and Rahul's legacy. Thank you for sharing and helping them Leo.
Among the many mysteries of how the Tally Ho project has come together, the first step - having a place to set up, sophisticated machines, and housing - is like a miracle. Darlene and Raoul's generosity was clearly easy for them, as they so quickly understood the good man you are. Very sorry for your loss.
When Tally Ho was moved, I was struck that Darlene was so emotional! Up until then, it had not occurred to me that the two of them were themselves personally invested in the project... This is the first video of this channel that was suggested to me by YT. Nevertheless, the video makes me very sad. I am so sorry. R.I.P. Darleen. May you sail in the vastness of the sky.
Her last message was making sure her sweetheart was taken care of and giving us thanks. We all need to thank her for showing what being a genuine, loving person is. A complete selfless human, as I watched the tears fell, we lost a wonderful women but gained an angel. The tally ho family and community is such a wonderful place of love and support! I agree, it’s amazing what a boat can do ❤
This is a very sad statement about how this country cares for its senior citizens. Yes, the generosity of this community is to be lauded, but we really need to do better by our seniors.
That was clearly an incredibly difficult video to make Leo. You handled it with grace and dignity....the same way Darlene lived her life. This project is, in a way, a part of her legacy. You are most certainly doing that legacy proud.
Leo the one thing that will always stick with me about why Darlene was a warm lovin soul. I remember it was the day you were moving Tally Ho to her new build spot. When everything was all bundled and secured it was time for you to leave and say good bye. Darlene standing there with her husband watching you leave she began to cry. My hearts of hearts tell me that she took you like a son which probably made her feel like she was sending off one of children into the big new world. 🤗 Condolences to the family and Bigs thanks to them for letting you start on Tally Ho in the yard so we subs could watch Tally’s new beginning.
R.I.P. DARLENE Many thanks to DARLENE & RAUL For all the assistance given to the Tally Ho Project. DARLENE will be Sadly missed by all, non more than RAUL.😢
This channel is a perfect example of the best of humanity. We came together to support Leo in accomplishing the impossible: to rebuild a thing of beauty that had fallen into ruin. From the very beginning it was obvious that Leo was capable of completing this heroic task, and I along with many many other were inspired to support him. Darlene and Raul being first and foremost. That they opened their shop, and home, to Leo at the get-go was a stunningly generous act of faith in Leo. As always, every act of open generosity is amply rewarded. They gave to the Tally Ho project with no expectation other than a beautiful boat, but they received such generosity that Raul is going to be taken care of now that Darlene is gone. The clip of Darlene and Raul is such a gift to me, a supporter from Episode #3. A massive massive thank-you to Leo for giving me this.
So sad to hear this. Before anyone else, they offered you and Tally Ho a home. The world's a lesser place for her loss. My condolences to you and the family. Give Pancho a few head pats too, poor birb will feel this, they're extraordinarily emphatic creatures.
Darlene and Raul gave this RUclips channel a place to develop and the tools to start building Tally Ho. They haven't done the heavy lifting but made that work possible. They inspired others to get involved and helped grow a wonderful community. It's wonderful to see that community turn around and help them. It's sad that Darlene will not witness the boat sailing, but will be there in spirit.
Darlene leaves a lasting legacy and everyone following Tally ho will forever remember her and Rahul's contributions and kind nature. What legends. Onward.❤
Leo, as with all of the long time followers of your channel, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Darlene. I know how close you guys were. On a happier note, it is amazing to see how beautifully the cap and tap rails turned out. Those corner pieces are just spectacular and they tie everything together so well! Congratulations to all on another part of Tally Ho so very well done. Cheers.
Hi Leo. I thank you for allowing me to know Darlene though this channel. I really felt presence her way down here in Australia. She will live on as part of Tally Ho history. What a good life and passing she was blessed with. I have shed a few tears already and I will pray her and Rahal from way down under. Keep going with the project she obviously loved and wanted to be a part of.
A beautiful tribute video to a such a good friend and supporter. Your closing was a warm, peaceful wish to Darleen as were her wonderful words to the Tally Ho community.
Very sad news about Darlene but what I got from. It is the power of community to help. Darlene and Raul were part of Leo’s community and when he needed a place to work on his boat, they were there. Years later, when they needed assistance the community that has formed around the Tallyho came together to help. It is amazing to be part of a community, and I’m grateful for Leo for all he has done to create a beautiful boat, a beautiful video series, and an amazing community.
Sad that this is the first video I found from your channel. God bless Darlene and Raoul, and I hope Darlene rests easy, knowing she has left behind a legacy even the Rockefellers could never touch. Because of her and the Tally Ho, thousands of people, strangers mostly, have bonded together in the hope that this ship will sail again. Living history at it's finest, because of her and her husband's generosity. I now consider myself honored and blessed to join this community.
I haven't had the pleasure of being a part of this community but this was a very sad but beautiful send-off. Thoughts and prayers for the family. RIP I hope everyone can focus on the positive and have a great day.
The wistful music and the sound of the waves to close the film - I was in tears. The entire video, including the comic relief of Pancho interrupting your narration, was a graceful and lovely tribute to a graceful and lovely lady. Well done, Leo.
Give her a good warm place on that boat a sign or some photos or in another Way. So evrybody should know what She has done for Tally Ho. I think she was an important part to that restoration.
Sitting upright next to her lovely partner, speaking with a kind of dignity and courage, she does not say farewell--she instead muses on how the creation of something beautiful can bring people together. I'm sure that the life and creativity of the builders brought extra life into her during the last years. It's a very beautiful message. Thank you for sharing it.
5:00 "... Fair Winds and Following Seas to Darlene . . . " may the mourning sun find Raul's heart warm with what was and what still is to be. Thanks to Leo for this graceful tribute. The community you have rallied around this historic project is awesome to behold.
The Craftsmanship on this vessel is sooo wonderful! It just fills my heart!! God I cannot wait to see her sail!! Many prayers for Raul and Miss Darlene...what an example of love and courage she was! Hug Hug Hug!!
I'm without words Leo - how you managed to record that message so eloquently I'll never know. What an incredible lady. Part of her will always live on in Tally Ho. Please let us know what we can do to continue to support Raul. You've built a community here. Darlene & Raul made this entire project happen and I, for one, want to make sure I can play a part in contributing towards any further assistance that Raul needs. May the road rise to meet you, and the wind be on your back.
Well done mate, I'm sure that beautiful tribute to Darlene was not done in one take. Your true love for your Sequim family came through in such a respectful way, you're a good man Leo.
Darleen and Raul are wonderful, kind, and generous souls. Their contributions to this project, and support for Leo, were critical. It's also great to see old Pancho hanging out with Leo as another reminder of the connection between Leo, the project, and Darleen and Raul.
So sad that cancer can do this, PLEASE donate to a cancer charity, people such as this couple are few and far between we hardly ever saw them but their generosity towards Leo has stretched right around the world and given joy to many, RIP Darlene, Best wishes and condolences to Raul and the family.
Oh, wow Leo! I am so sorry for your loss. I must have missed the initial fundraiser. If there’s anything we can do still, please let us know. You are all in my thoughts and sending deepest condolences.
This video exemplifies why this project is not just about building a boat. It is an extended act of love and compassion, an attractor and emanator of that energy, and a gift to all who feel her wake.
Gotta love Poncho. So sorry to hear of Darlene's passing. Her contribution to this project cannot be underestimated. Without her and Raul, this would probably have not been the success it has been. So glad to hear of the community's support for Darlene as well. Obviously a well-loved individual.
Hello Leo, first of all I want to tell you that I am very sorry because Darlene lost this last fight, but I hope that from where she is, she is looking at you smiling and as always she will take care and be proud of you and of your entire team, which I must say that what you do there is simply art and total dedication. Thank you for sharing with us this wonderful story of Tally Ho and I send you only good thoughts from Romania.
Oh Leo, that is indeed sad news. My heart goes out to you, Raul, and all who knew and loved her. I am heartened to see that Pancho got to spend some time with her friends after such a loss. Bless you man.
I’ve just come to this channel via a recommendation from my son. I’m lost for words. Wooden boats and their people are always very special - I’m overjoyed to have found you and as the grandson of a cabinetmaker I appreciate the skill, especially working in teak! Ian (near Pinmill Suffolk England)
Thank you for the message Leo. Special people, a special project and an exceptionally special community. Cheers for the extremely sensitive and touching tribute.
That is very sad news, I remember the video where Leo left Darlene's and Raul's home, to move to the shipyard, and how they shed tears at Leo's depature; I got the impression Leo means a lot to them, like he had become a son, it was really moving to see. People like Darlene and Raul, who have such open and compassionate hearts, that nurture the love in those around them, they are the heart of our communities. May love and friendship surround all those grieving.
you and your fellow craftsman have been an inspiration to every craftsman and every loving human who has had the pleasure of following your dream from the beginning. Thank you.
A poignant reminder that we're all only here for a little while, and that our dreams can't wait. Sorry for your loss, and for the rest of us; Don't wait.
"Goodnight and joy be to you all." Fitting epitaph for someone who made this project possible and has brought so much joy to thousands of viewers and helped preserve a piece of history. May she rest in peace and rise in glory. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and especially Raul.
Devastating. Without her generosity, this project would not even exist. Rest in peace.

My heart aches for Raoul, and everyone who loved Darlene. Fair winds and following seas, indeed.
Even in this sad time, it warms my heart to see the Parrot is back with the Tally Ho crew again. ❤🙏
A journey we all will make. Her kindness and contribution to the rebirth of Tally Ho is part of her legacy...
Those corner pieces were a real work of art in the woodworking world.
Well done Leo!!
Sorry for the loss of a great friend and person.
I loved it when she said "it's amazing what a boat can do".
I heard a collected smile pop up on everyone's ones face who heard it. 🙂
Not only a smile…tears too😢
Gotta love Poncho. So sorry to hear of Darlene's passing. Her contribution to this project cannot be underestimated. Without her and Raul, this would probably have not been the success it has been. So glad to hear of the community's support for Darlene as well. Obviously a well-loved individual.
There are good people in the world. Thank you Darlene for being one of them.
My condolences.
Very sad to hear this.
We really have them to thank for Tally Ho got resurrected at all.
So sorry for your loss Leo! Such good people. They will always be part of Tally Ho's story.
Beautiful episode. Honored that Darlene Raul and Leo would share this time
Oh Leo, that is indeed sad news. My heart goes out to you, Raul, and all who knew and loved her. I am heartened to see that Pancho got to spend some time with her friends after such a loss. Bless you man.
How sad that she will not have the opportunity to see Tally Ho be launched. Prayers to her family.
I’ve just come to this channel via a recommendation from my son. I’m lost for words. Wooden boats and their people are always very special - I’m overjoyed to have found you and as the grandson of a cabinetmaker I appreciate the skill, especially working in teak!

So sorry for your loss ! Their generosity on providing shelter in the beginning of the project was not in vain, and will never be forgotten.
Very nicely done, Leo. RIP, Darlene. Health and strength to Raul. All of you, humanity at its best. 🙏
you and your fellow craftsman have been an inspiration to every craftsman and every loving human who has had the pleasure of following your dream from the beginning. Thank you.
A poignant reminder that we're all only here for a little while, and that our dreams can't wait. Sorry for your loss, and for the rest of us; Don't wait.
We’ll lift a parting glass to Darlene as she is journeying home. Condolences to all who loved her. 💔❤️🩹
"Goodnight and joy be to you all." Fitting epitaph for someone who made this project possible and has brought so much joy to thousands of viewers and helped preserve a piece of history.
May she rest in peace and rise in glory. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and especially Raul.
Sad news for the Tally Ho "Family"! Our thoughts are with all!
That is so sad. All my love and positive energy to Raoul, Darlene friends and her family.
I believe the entire Tally Ho family feels it has lost a dear friend. Rest in peace....
