Great tutorial! New to laser field but am eager to learn. Thank you for sharing your expertise. I have a 34 1/4" x 41" x 1/2" piece of plywood to close off our fire place during summer months and I would like to burn some type of patch pattern design on it. I know the project size is limited on the pass thru of the F1 but I have not experimented with it yet. It seems logical that with the laser head set at the lowest z axis position shooting laser thru the opening with base plate removed the project area would increase, if that makes sense. Have you experimented with this at all?
Hi, at 2:38 the voice over doesn't match the settings shown for the 'smiley face' could you confirm which is correct? the screen states BL,P:80%, S50, 300 but the voice over says IR, 100%, S:5, 300. my F1 has not arrived yet but I would like to try a similar design when it does arrive. Thanks
Hey! Great catch! It is a speed of 5. Typo on the video. We also have the projects available to download so all you need to do is open it and resize all the settings are set. But just a heads up some stainless does react a bit differently so your color results may vary. Hope that helps!
Can you show how to take a picture like Mario and break it into sections that you can set differently. I’m having trouble understanding how to prepare the image
HI! Thanks for the video! Do you know how I can duplicate the image using a MacBook? I just got an F1 today and trying out different projects. Your videos are very helpful. Thanks!
If I am understanding correctly you just want to have 2 copies of the photo in XCS? If so you can select your photo and click CMD and C on your keyboard then CMD V to paste a copy. I believe you can also right click on the image to duplicate it.
There are files on Xtools projects websites that have test grids you can run. Each metal is a bit different so if one color works for us it may not work for you. Running a test grid always helps!
Hey, how do I change the order of engraving different layers? For example, I have red, blue and black layer, and I'd like to engrave the red one first, black second and the blue one would be the last to engrave. Is this even possible to do in xcs?
You need to update the processing settings to use “by layer” on the latest version of XCS this can be found by clicking the 3 dots next to the green “Go to process” button. From there switch from “Auto Planning” to “User Defining” and there you can enable by layer. If you are on an older version and are having trouble finding this option just let us know what version you are on and we can help you out
Thank you! When I open the Google Drive folder, I only see the Multi-color xcs file which is the origami swan. Is the smiley flag file supposed to be there too?
Is there somewhere I can find out settings for various colors with just my blue laser on my D1 Pro ? I dont have the IR module right now, but considering that investment...
You should be able to get good colors with the D1. The blue light actually produces a good amount just not dark colors like black and brown unless you run it really really slow. Sorry wish we had more info but we don't have the D1 currently. If you have a 10w module our settings may be a good starting point because the F1 is a 10w diode as well
Hey, these are just ones we already had laying around, but we ordered a few that look similar and will arrive today, we will do a test to make sure we get similar results and will let you know
@janepanzer5084 The ones we received from amazon are a bit bigger but engraved the swan design just as well, here is our affiliate link if you are interested amzn.to/4aTPNge
Yeah technically you should be able to, we believe. If you have done a test array before on the S1 it will help a lot to see what colors you can get. Unfortunately we don’t have one, sorry!
Check out this RUclips video at about 5:14 for fixing F1 focus: ruclips.net/video/TRl1_1-D1RY/видео.htmlsi=UasmwsRT21fAiuFq This worked for me. I didn't have to move mine as hard as in the video.
Hey 👋 We haven’t tried PVC and just a warning for anyone else who doesn’t know engraving PVC releases some really toxic fumes so you need to either engrave outside or have really good ventilation. With that being said we would use the IR laser, power set to 100% and a really high speed maybe 1500 to start and work our way down. Use 300 for lines per cm Hope that helps
Thank you so much will gonna try it and I have watched this full video and give the same settings on my keychain to make such black smile but it turned to golden brown color not really black any other settings please 🙏 😊 that I can try it
Hey, So sadly we are actually not huge fans of how photos are engraved on stainless, that's why we never made a video to cover it. The photo looks fine when you look at it at a very specific angle but it mostly looks like an X-ray. Also every photo will need different settings but if you want to give it a try this may be a starting point IR Light Bitmap Mode: Jarvis Dot Duration: 1500 Power: 100% DPI: 900
Hey unfortunately we haven’t really found a setting for white with stainless. Aluminum does turn a nice bright white at full power and higher speeds around 400. Sorry we couldn’t help with this!
I'm also very curious how to engrave white color. But in stainless steel. I have these stainless steel discs with a gold coating and online you see people who engrave it in white. But mine always turns out black. Just curious how to be able to do both!
Typicall IR would be for Metals, Plastics and blue light for wood, acrylic, leather, leather, paper, stone. Really it’s just trial and error. If it doesn’t work with one you switch to the other. But there is an “xTool F1 Official” Facebook group that helps a lot. A lot of users including us will post settings on their of projects that we have made. Hope that helps!
It’s really boils down to how hot you can get the metal, MOPAs are much better at it because you can tune the frequency to each color and that will concentrate or spread the heat more evenly

Need more vids like this. Anyone think this could be possible on airpod cases?
Thank you! We will keep them coming! AirPods case unfortunately only really engrave in a grey color.
To be specific you can engrave on AirPods cases, we have videos on that. But not different colors. Hope that helps!
@@VelfCreations it does thanks. It’s be really cool if they could get different color

the red for the F1 ultra is slow but heres what i used IR: P:14 S:30, 300

Hi, tried to download the files but the Google Drive folder is empty. Are these files still available?
Hey should be fixed, give it another try and let me know if you still have issues
so you are using the diode laser for the colors?
Yup!
How we can engrave colored letters onto fabric? Is it possible?
Not really as you are burning the fabric. This works on metal as you are changing the crystalline structure very slightly
Thank you! When I open the Google Drive folder, I only see the Multi-color xcs file which is the origami swan. Is the smiley flag file supposed to be there too?
Yup there are multiple examples all under their own canvases
@@VelfCreations Found it! Learned something new :) Thanks!
