I am so glad I found this. I just started a etsy shop offering personalization and although I have it set in etsy....I had no clue you had to go in with a new design each time on printify. I was wondering how that matched the fonts to my example

It took me longer than it should have to be comfortable and confident on Etsy. After coming from other types of POD sites it definitely can feel very different to master.

Hi Hannah, love your videos. Can you pl tell us how you reached the page @7:51 in the video, where you say lets see how this item will look on etsy. Is it preview listing? Is it is the page looks very diifferent now and I don't see the listing tools menu that you see on the pg @ 7:51. Maybe etsy changed the interface but looking for your confirmation. thx!
When doing the listing in Printify, do you duplicate that listing each time you get a personalized order for that same shirt? Is it best to only offer one color shirt in that one listing?

Hi! I would like to ask if it is possible to publish my custom designs first fom printify and then put it directly on my etsy store?
I’m starting to get more into the personalized listing arena now and trying to find the best method.
I noticed that you made your Etsy and Printify listing separate, which is pretty normal, but what I noticed is that Etsy wasn’t requiring a SKU of any kind.
My questions are, does Etsy allow you to do this and still Publish the Listing? And is this what sends the order to the “Other Orders” tab on Printify, which prevents it from being auto submitted?

I've done regular listings and Am leaping into personalized ones. Under Production partners, I have Printify listed. I noticed you have the actual printers... do I need to change my partners?

Typically a few dollars more than you would for a non-personalized item.
The only thing is navigating on Etsy but it will get better lm still nervous but as l watch your videos you make it easy 💜

Love all your content and emails. When you decide on a niche to target, say book worms ..how many listing do you put for that one niche ?
Sometimes I’ll make a handful of unique designs, maybe 10+, and then if I get traction in even one of those, I’ll start uploading even more in that niche.

I’m terrified to sell custom items, afraid to make mistakes since it takes a lot more steps. Hannah, what do you think about using “Hello Custom?” I’m considering using them but I can’t videos where regular Etsy shops use them and giving a reviews.
HELP!!! I get stuck at the point of your video 9:29. When I go back to Canva to change the design from the original design that shows up on Etsy ( ex. Mrs. Custom ) to my personalized order, I can't remove the "custom example" part and fill in the text that the customer wants! You just click on the text box with "custom" on it and fill in the ordered text. I can't do that. The text box for "custom" doesn't seperate from the whole design. What am I doing wrong????

Thank you, this video helped so much. Do you also create group listing shirts on Etsy first and then push them through the same way in Printify. I created some group listing shirts with so many different phrases and it took forever to load the SKU numbers. Seems like this way would save so much time.
This would be a great way to manually do that too as long as you’re comfortable hand uploading new designing for each order.

For custom shirts, do you have a specific shipping profile for that? since it may take you an additional day to make the order on top of the normal processing time?
I lean on the very safe side on estimating times, Printify typically adds quite a few more days than it actually takes, so I haven't adjusted anything, but I also check my accounts daily to manage things.
Is there a way I can change my listing I already listed it on printify first 😢. I didn’t know I had to create the listing on Etsy first 😓
Could you please elaborate on the shipping profile please? Etsy requires a carrier, weight, package measurements etc… How do we set that up please?
If you integrate with Printify, they auto-populate all that info for you.

You totally can personalize using printify + Etsy.
Say you didn’t do anything to it or took a couple days until you got to it..would it just send out the “custom” shirt to the person or does it need you to manually do it in order for it to send?
You should have it set to manual so you would need to push it through after you create the custom design!

what is your canvas size for creating your design? I typically use 5000 pixels x 5000 pixels. I've never done that thing at the end where you increased the size 2.5 times, is that something you always do?
Thankfully with Printify, since you can adjust the canvas, it doesn't matter too much what size you start with. I started my POD journey on Amazon and got used to the t-shirt size they required, but 5000x5000 is great. Since Canva doesn't let you adjust the dpi, I typically will increase the size before downloading. However, I have also done it without too and the results are not bad either--just a little better quality the other way. If you are using a design tool like Kittl where you can change the dpi, you wouldn't have to do this.
@@hannahebeling If I wanted to do the same then I would make the canvas 5000 x 5000 and then once done designing I would do the 2.5 x and that should be more than sufficient, right? Just making sure I got it. I'm going to try kittl next week. Right now I use canva and picmonkey and picmonkey does export at 300 dpi and 5000 x 5000 but I notice depending on how big or small I make the design on the actual shirt, it changes the dpi in printify.

I am just wondering, If I want to sell personalised and non personalised items all through POD, will they print and ship the non personalised items before I get to complete the personalised order? Hope that makes sense, or if it has a personalised (draft) item they will wait for you to confirm the order before printing/shipping?
You will want to have your shop set to manually submit orders so that you make sure to edit the ones with personalization first.
What do you do if the custom order is showing up in etsy but not in Printify in 'Other Orders' after using these steps?
I discovered that you have to put in a custom sku number for the listing entire listing so it goes to Other Orders. That way when you go to fulfill the order you can replace the items as shown here. Keeping the the regular sku numbers will have it go to your normal orders and you won't be able to replace the item with the personalized option.
When I do regular listings on Etsy..it's already marked for printify..doing the swift pod instead of printify is only for customized shirts???
Some people just put printify as the provider instead of the actual manufacturer. I think it doesn’t really matter too much, I just like to get a little more specific.
How do I change the order in printify to reflect that a customer orders more than one of the same custom design with different customizations?
You will manually have to create two orders and push them through.
what if someone asks for something that's trademarked? not like in your product in the video with names obviously, but as a custom quote or saying?
You can message them and let them know the situation and allow them a chance to change what they say or cancel the order.
If I have my order approval set to manual in printify is it okay if I create the listing in printify and sync it to etsy, rather than creating a new listing in etsy first? Then once I receive the order I could go edit the order in printify and import the customer's design before clicking "send to production"?
If you manually review all the orders that is totally a great option too and it will definitely work.

how do I set up payment with Etsy. I tried adding the routing and account number from CashApp and Paypal and none worked.

I actually published it for her to order, but now I need to personalize 23 shirt's I have everything ready but it' not in the other folder, I can still edit the shirt's right before they go to print tomorrow morning??? I'm freaking out..Thank you for the help 🥰
Yes, you should be able to edit them. Make sure you have your orders set to manual review so they don’t go through without you letting them.

It can sometimes take multiple hours for an order to come through. Try checking again later.

Hannah this is very informational and thank you for all of your effort and teaching. No offense but you go way too fast for someone who has never done the variations and I would have liked to learn how to put the different sizes in and have you explain what you are doing and why. People who haven't done it like you need someone to walk through it slower. It's obvious you're very well practiced and it comes easily to you because you've done it over and over, but for those of us who haven't its like leaving my head spinning.

You can totally do that too! This is just being on the most careful side, but tons of people do it that way.

Yes, but getting your listings on the first few pages is a pain in the ass
It can be tricky in competitive niches, that's why I typically suggest going for smaller niches that have low-competition.

How many listing does it normally take to start generating full-time income on Etsy?Going into 2023, I feel being successful on Etsy will be purely a numbers game( quantity + quality) and superior digital marketing skills with the amount of sellers joining every month in practically the same niches and using the same research tools(erank,everbee,merch informer,sales samurai etc.) so I am curious to know your thoughts on this, thanks.
That's a great question and it's hard to pinpoint exactly how many listings it would take one person. Even if you had 2000+ listings, but they were all in niches that didn't have demand, you might not make tons of sales. In my experience, going after low-comp, high-demand niches when I started getting into having 500+ listings, I started to actually make more of a sustainable amount every month. But there are people too who only have 50-100 listings but have marketed themselves and sell tons of a specific product every day that make more than a full time income.

I found many niche POD stores in various niches that are doing well on Etsy and also have a social media profile and Shopify store for diversification purposes but I am yet to find a single general POD store on Etsy that also has a Shopify store and social media channels For it.
