"STAR WAAAARS. NOTHING BUT. STAR WARRRS" the game has some bad technical problems but it is still worth playing at some point if you're a fan. I'm gonna be talking about this one a lot between another video or so and the podcast. 😀
Ready to start it tonight. I think You’re the equivalent of my spirit animal in gamer RUclips world. Thanks for all the very credible looks on games over the last year or so
Man these are the type of videos I love, I understand the importance of the more analytical/objective review videos but there's no better feeling than hearing someone talk about something they really enjoy and in turn that gets you excited as well. I'm the type of person who has to play the older games in a series before I can jump into the new one so I still gotta play fallen order but I'm super pumped for it after this video
🤔🎮 While I didn't enjoy the first one, I've heard that the second one has some improvements. Do you think it's worth giving it a shot, or do you think my lack of enjoyment for the first one will extend to the second one?
My Favourite bit, a B1 complimenting a stunning view and contemplating the dilemma of what would happen if he got promoted, Cal’s response after a ledge kill just added to it. The B1’s are amazing in this.
I feel like we have a very very very similar view on star wars and how enjoyable it is, regardless of some criticisms from the fanbase. I absolutely LOVED Fallen Order and am happy with pretty much everything I hear about Survivor, I can't want until it's finally out for me to play it!
I really like Cal as a character and I’ve come to really like the actor as well; I know some people really thought he was too lacking in personality but I really like him, like, he even has a very unique resting face 😅 maybe I’m crazy Also I would love to see Kyle Katarn in one of these recent games though I have no clue if that would work canon-wise; but he would be a good teacher as he also used blasters and lightsabers
I really like Cal as a character and his actor as well. I know him from the Gotham TV show, which is very underrated if you ask me. He played both Jerome and Jeremiah Valeska in that show, both of whom were basically the Jokers of that Batman universe. His performance in that show was incredible, and though Cal is a lot more subdued of a performance than the Joker, he still plays the role well, I think.
I like almost everything about his character, but I don't like that they ditched his hair braid style he had as a padawan. It's a jedi style and I get why he had to get rid of it but I feel like with him being open about being a jedi in this game I would want him to have that look again.
This a genuinely good review. Mostly because I can see you're really into what you're trying to talk about. I never finished the first one but watching you talk about it gets me hype enough to jump back in.
I quit playing the first one because the map layout frustrated me but then i I got kinda hyped for the new one and I went back and hammered down and beat the first one
Jake Baldino: the pizza giving, jacket loving, shoe appreciating, DeLorean fawning guy that we all love to watch. Glad you loved this game man, sounds like it's well worth the wait! So excited to play this!
I haven’t been this excited for a game in awhile, Star Wars is really something special man. Also a 3rd game where Cal is a full on Jedi Master with some new force abilities would be dope, just some very early speculating lol.
What I miss from the Jedi Knight games with Kyle Katarn was the ability to mix up light / dark sides powers as you level up. Wish you had more flexibility to use the force the way you wish to go with it and build up Cal's story with a little more variables. Maybe that's just me tho.
Kinda like fable ish but star wars. I never understood why games don't really build off of fables reputation system, especially for a star wars game where you should be able to choose between light and dark sides.
After playing this, I'm hoping, in the third game you might be able to go down a dark or light path. Seems like it might be going there. Great game so far. :)
These past few months have really exposed PC gaming for what it is. It's great when it works, but it very often DOESN'T work. It's the reason Console Gaming will always dominate the market, you put the disc in and it just WORKS.
Jake the point you made about the battle droids rings so true as a now adult formerly kid who was born and bred prequels. That nostalgic feeling of cutting through droids like I’m playing my PS1 is beautiful
as a longtime fan myself i personally think that the fantastical side of this game is brilliant, i feel like with Disney they've continually told the same story over and over without innervation. The story in this game being so original was like a breath of fresh air, the galaxy is a big place and I'm sure there's more going on in that galaxy that we haven't seen. Just my humble opinion. Cheerio
I agree and disagree. I think the last 1/3 of the game is amazing but it really felt the whole thing with Dagan and the High republic didn't feel fleshed out enough, it was just padding for the final bit and for the first representation of the high republic outside of books it felt a bit underwhelming.
I actually really like certain combat improvements like the ability to parry blaster bolts quicker one after the other because in fallen order there was like a short cool down for blaster reflection and in this one if you’re quick enough you can bounce them back one after the other and I LOVE that because that was one of my biggest gripes in fallen order
I like that they made the cross guard lightsaber stance and combat heavy. This is definitely my own interpretation but I feel like it shows just how big and strong Kylo Ren was to be swinging that thing around with the speed he was doing it with
There’s mass created when lightsabers turn on which is why lightsabers don’t go through each other. It doesn’t really follow scientific knowledge but it’s Star Wars.
@@brykwak they're supposed to be beams of light with a magnetic field. the reason why they can hit each other without going through each other, but they also can't slide across each other like regular swords
I know it's not a strictly Star Wars thing but I LOVE the things they do in Fallen Order and Survivor regarding things like expression and body language as well as dialogue between characters. There's little moments of talking between characters when you take off for new planets and interactions between the crew and I just love it. It's not all depending on Cal to interact with them even if it's not initiated without you going to a new place. Hell, I talked to Merrin once and she didn't even talk to Cal, she asked BD how he was and if he was doing alright! That's so awesome as someone who ADORES character writing.
As a SW fan that has followed the franchise since the age of 7 (now 28) it’s refreshing to hear someone talk about SW without the negativity that often follows. I don’t like everything out there, but just let people have their enjoyment, ya know. It’s nice.
I love this game! The story, characters, the world exploration is rewarding. The combat is satisfying, just play on a difficulty mode above normal. The art design is top notch! I hope devs could fix performance issues soon so everybody can enjoy it.
Jake, stop apologizing for how much you love and appreciate star wars...I feel the same way. They have nailed this in so many ways, and it's shaping up to be the best star wars story ever told, and the sad thing is only a small portion of fans will experience it. I'm glad I'm a gamer
I started fallen order a year or two ago and got halfway through and stopped for some reason. Heard the sequel was coming out and went back to finish it and was so happy I did. Really looking forward to the second game.
I don't have a PS5 yet so I'll be booting up the original Fallen Order and playing the first worlds for a bit to get the itch out of the system, hahah. Star Wars was also such a big part of my childhood, Jake, that the very first time I was taken to a hair salon (as a 4 y/o), I asked the barber dude to make me look like Luke Skywalker, lmao. Luke was my first "movie" hero, and I wanted to be a Jedi more than anything else in life. 😂
There are still a few more hours to go before I can play in my timezone, but I'm so excited to play man! Thanks for the multiple videos dude, always enjoy your content, input, and criticism about any games you play.
I love watching your videos man. You got so much personality and you’re such a funny and weird guy (WEIRD IS GOOD normal is boring) and you’re not afraid to just have a good time and do what you love. I get why you don’t want to talk about Star Wars online a lot, but personally hearing you talk about Star Wars anytime puts such a smile on my face and reminds me why I love Star Wars so much.

Man, just played the opening part until I reached my ship again and oh boy, how do I missed Star Wars, the old Star Wars, and I haven't realized that. All the good vibes of watching the old trilogy and even the second trilogy are coming back to me. This game nailed that feeling. Huge props to Respawn.
I love this approach to talking about games. When I used to do movie review videos for work, I called that series "worth a watch," and basically, if I did a video on it, that means that there's something about it worth seeing. I don't think there's anything wrong with being critical, and people should know of any issues to make an informed purchase, but I love what you're doing with this.
I just want to say, as a fellow old-school Star Wars nerd who grew up reading the EU (now Legends), this video is fantastic. I played through the first few hours after a midnight install last night, and completely agree with you here. Respawn gets it, Survivor has that classic Star Wars 'feel', and in a lot of ways Cal feels like a mashup of Kyle Katarn and Corran Horn adapted for the new timeline. From the little details of the lightsaber combat and Force abilities, to the surprisingly expansive and relevant NPCs and side quests that, again, really feel like they fit in the universe. I can't wait to play through the rest of the game this weekend and see if the bacta tank dude in the trailer is as much of an Exar Kun homage as he seemed.
Good Job Mr. Baldino 😌 I must confess I see people confuse the IP itself and all the talent working on it with ... Well, the mouse. Regardless of how you feel about Disney, people worked hard on this game and did a mighty good job. If we are gonna play Hogwarts Legacy despite Rowling who's awful.. I see no reason to hate on this game because "Disney ruined Star Wars".
My wife and I are huge SW fans and gamers too, so we have been fighting over the console to play this one, and despite the most bugs I've seen in a ps5 game, we are both loving it so much. There are moments in this which made me smile an tear up. I love how they expanded on the first game, especially the huge cast of colourful characters, the dialogues and comments are great, it just feels like classic Star Wars. The Coruscant sequence drew me in immediately, the urban setting was something that was missing in the first game, followed by the western meets sci-fi Koboh, brilliant! It also feels that Respawn has added some quality of life improvements people have been asking for after the first game, which is great to see.
Got it a day early and I'm several hours or so in, playing on series x. Good so far but not excellent (at least at the moment), I've noticed occasional frame drops, not too often like once every hour. I was chatting on twitch with someone earlier who was playing on ps5 and we both had frame drops as the game is loading to the main menu, funny thing is it slows down on Electronic arts, but is fine when it says Lucasfilm. I'd like to think that was on purpose, but obviously just a technical problem.
How's it like without the day one patch? I mean we keep hearing "stuff" but we're all pretty much gonna play it with 2 patches in... So is it really "bad" in some areas? Can you please let us know what your experience has been like?
@@samf.s.7731 I wouldn't say really bad for me, just dropping some frames into the main menu (where logos appear), in game moving around Kohbo (if I remember the spelling correctly), is the first semi open world area after the intro to the game, and I have had frame drops occasionally exploring some of the area. Had a couple of glitches, bodies moulding into rock faces/cliffs. PC players might have the roughest experience based upon what I'm hearing
“Fallen Order” was - no joke - the best Star Wars narrative since the OT IMO. Not sure whether that indicates it was great, or just shows how awful the post-OT movies have been. Either way I am really looking forward to this game
@@CasepbX KoTOR is quite literally the most generic overhyped piece of Star Wars media. Fallen order was better than it in every way except for the customization. Which Survivor looks to have improved upon.
Ahhh yes one of the worst most overrated franchise and its stans, they'll eat it up but they wouldnt know a good story if it was right in front of them.
Really super stoked to finally play it! I’d start now, but I haven’t played Fallen Order since launch and my memory is absolutely terrible, so I’m replaying that first. Thanks for the hype!
The best thing is horrible Fps, crashes and audio issues, that make you loose critical audio on cut scenes. I love the reviews that left this out, and gave it a 9/10.. And its super recommended by Steam, and user reviews disagree.. 💀
I finally got around to playing through this after taking a break from star wars content. I was underwhelmed by the overall Tanalor plot line, but absolutely loved some of the new characters like Bode and the relationship dynamics that have changed within the crew after a few years have passed. Looking forward to see where they take things from here!
Love it! Loved the Big Daddy reference too! Huge star wars fan and Respawn gets it. Give me more tools, more powrrs, more clankers! Great assessment, Jake
It's so refreshing seeing/hearing someone just enjoying Star Wars. I too enjoy 90% of Star Wars. I'm always there for the cool light sabers fight. Something about them just makes me so hype
have to tell you: you are the only video game Talking Head I watch. Your takes are always solid, accurate, balanced, personable, and honest. I love that you love Star Wars, and that you’re just, like, ‘This is me - deal with it.’ This attitude is why I keep clicking Play and Like on your stuff. 😊
I love this videos. Very much the same with growing up on so many Star Wars games and these are a breath of fresh air. After watching this video I am excited to jump into this one. Love the content, Jake.
Thoroughly enjoying these videos. I've seriously looked at a couple of games I wasn't originally interested in due to your reviews. Keep up the good work.
I'd argue Star Wars was never sci-fi. It's a space opera fantasy. SW Jedi: Survivor delivers on that in spades, and improves on its predecessor in every way. It makes me feel like a kid again playing this jedi power fantasy despite its minor launch woes. Although, it seems to perform way better on PS5 than PC right now; especially in Quality Mode with data usage sharing turned off under Extras (don't ask me why, but that option seems to randomly impact framerate).
I grew up in the 80’s and 90’s as a very casual Star Wars kid. ROTJ came out when I was seven and I liked that one the best because of the Rancor lol. I love Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor! I’ve spent all week watching Star Wars lore videos and “Explained” videos to catch up on the world and characters
Jake I really planned on purchasing this game but everything was contingent on the reviews and gamer feedback. I’m not a fan of the “soul style” approach to this game or the previous one, but I was willing to try for the sake of fresh gameplay. I think EA cares nothing about us gamers and the audacity to release a game knowing it still needs work is proof of why I don’t trust preorders.
Jedi Fallen, Survivor, Mando, and The Force Unleashed, Rogue one, Andor, clone wars are my favorite Star Wars things since the prequels. But I'll say I enjoy Fallen Order and Survivor as much as when I first saw Revenge of the Sith now nearly 20 years ago.....
When I was younger I used to love getting games, when and where I could as soon as they launched, but back then games released in near perfect condition, and as I got older, and life got real, I hated the fact that I only got games a year or 2 after they launched, but these days, especially being a dad and a husband, and not being able to afford to spoil myself anymore, waiting very long to get something I really want works in my favor because now when I eventually get the game I want it's in completed state and is the best version it could be with DLC most times...

I can't wait to play through the rest of the game this weekend and see if the bacta tank dude in the trailer is as much of an Exar Kun homage as he seemed.
Jake's been in this fight since he was six years old
7:45 props for listening to “don’t sweat the technique”, not only is it an amazing classic rap song, but it also fits what you’re doing perfectly ;P
I feel the same way about Transformers as you do about Star Wars. ♥
Getting the bandolier shoulder pad and making a kyle katarn look was so satisfying a few hours in
Good Job Mr. Baldino 😌
I must confess I see people confuse the IP itself and all the talent working on it with ...
I've been playing nonstop on my Series X since it dropped. Loving it and love your perspective on it. Stay geek and keep doing the greatness you do!
“Fallen Order” was - no joke - the best Star Wars narrative since the OT IMO. Not sure whether that indicates it was great, or just shows how awful the post-OT movies have been. Either way I am really looking forward to this game
I didn't care for the story all that much. It felt very been there done that. You should play KOTOR, it has an even better story than the OT.
@@CasepbX KoTOR is quite literally the most generic overhyped piece of Star Wars media. Fallen order was better than it in every way except for the customization. Which Survivor looks to have improved upon.
Finished it a couple days ago. Having a blast exploring the pending side quests and chests
Jedi power battles was great for chopping down battle droids
You’re god damn right. One of my all time favorites
duuude… been waiting for a rerelease or remaster of that forever 🥵
I'm SO HYPED to play this. Loved the 1st one, plus imma die hard SW fan and gamer, literally perfect set up for this game 🔥
I disagree with your comment on some of the newer books, some of them are amazing! Especially the Alphabet Squadron trilogy!!
oh don't get me wrong - I love some of it! Lost Stars, The Light of the Jedi, etc.
My favorites are the ones by Claudia Gray. I love the concept of the Drengir but they barely use them in the books.
When Jake gets excited I get excited 😅 I’m ready for this game and his excitement gets me hyped up!
Ahhh yes one of the worst most overrated franchise and its stans, they'll eat it up but they wouldnt know a good story if it was right in front of them.
Very nice
@@JakeBaldino Indeed my dear sir!
Really super stoked to finally play it! I’d start now, but I haven’t played Fallen Order since launch and my memory is absolutely terrible, so I’m replaying that first. Thanks for the hype!
Love the after videos Jake! Keep it up
The best thing is horrible Fps, crashes and audio issues, that make you loose critical audio on cut scenes. I love the reviews that left this out, and gave it a 9/10.. And its super recommended by Steam, and user reviews disagree.. 💀
Love your content man. I’ve been excited for this game but you reignited that starwars nostalgia in me. Super excited to play
22 hours into the game and loving it. Is keeps the momentum throughout … never a dull moment
Hey Jake, don't apologize for being passionate about SW and this game. It's infectious, dude. x
I love listening to your videos on my way to work in the morning. Keep up the amazing work Jake! 🍕
At 12:30 when the frog is moving his mouth and jake is talking it looks funny because it looks like jake is the frog talking in his voice
What makes you relatable to myself and family close to me is why we watch you. I totally respect the corny side of your views. Keep it up!
Really enjoyed this video!
I love this videos. Very much the same with growing up on so many Star Wars games and these are a breath of fresh air. After watching this video I am excited to jump into this one. Love the content, Jake.
Jake has the absolute best voice for video game reviews
Starting on corosaunt was so dope. Little bit of tease how small the area. Makes me want 1313 even more
Thoroughly enjoying these videos. I've seriously looked at a couple of games I wasn't originally interested in due to your reviews. Keep up the good work.
Definitely do another video on this game.
P.S. Cameron Monaghan as Cal deserves a live-action appearance, if not an entire show.
Jakes clanker voice is perfection
I grew up in the 80’s and 90’s as a very casual Star Wars kid. ROTJ came out when I was seven and I liked that one the best because of the Rancor lol. I love Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor! I’ve spent all week watching Star Wars lore videos and “Explained” videos to catch up on the world and characters
It's been a fantastic journey for me and oh man. This game gave me some big feelings!
Amazing channel jake, keep up the good work❤
Jake I really planned on purchasing this game but everything was contingent on the reviews and gamer feedback.
