If the settings didn't do much then it's a CPU bound issue, this is usually related to AI or any kind of coding not optimized. Also very present during development, shouldn't be present at launch tho
It's so disappointing that it runs like that, and even more so how if you have a Czech keyboard or comparibly "rare" language keyboard, the game doesn't register your 1-9 keys no matter the layout. But, on the other side, I have to say the game runs completely fine on both my gen 1 Acer Nitro 5 (the 1060 one) and my PC (with 3060 gpu). Pretty stable 30+ FPS, which makes me happy considering my hardware. But the keyboard thing is unforgiveable. It was similar issue in JFO, but at least in JFO switching keyboard layout in Windows to en/US or en/UK worked fine. Jedi Survivor just doesn't register the keys at all.... So purely unplayable unless I go back to Germany and play on German keyboard :/
I played on pc using a keypad. This game is better than the first. It took me about 60 hrs to complete and during all that time I never, not once, experienced lag and I only encountered one bug (bad guy's cape was stretched across the room). It's a magnificent game. Spectacularly beautiful and characters I really cared about. Top 10 all time gaming experiences (minus a sadistic developer on a couple of the force tears minigames). It breaks my heart that so many people are hating on it because it's everything they promised and more. That being said, you need a good computer. But you always need a good computer to play these types of games.
Playing on Jedi Grandmaster and you def right about having to learn certain enemies' move types before even coming close to beating them. Still on my first play-through. Playing on Jedi Master. Having a lot of fun. No real brick walls that stopped me for a while but plenty of challenges. I found Jedi Knight to be a good difficulty for me, it wasn't so easy it became boring or monotonous and it wasn't such a challenge that I got frustrated, although a few of the bosses were particularly difficult. I considered going with Jedi Master at first since I managed to beat the fallen order on Grandmaster with relative ease, but I'm definitely glad I decided against it, at least for my first playthrough. I'll probably go on Master when I try New Journey+ though. I started last night on Jedi Master. It feels pretty good. It's challenging but not super intense. Mostly, it's the groups of 3 or more enemies where you have to play smart. Fun game! Managed to beat the game on Grandmaster and am going through on new game plus on the same difficulty right now! Those DT droids are still my least favorite enemies to come up against, but it seems like they can be staggered if you're aggressive enough and that can open them up to an instant kill animation at about 50% hp. Jedi Master is the perfect balance between difficulty and immersion to me, The Grandmaster one is doable but just less fun, you feel way too fragile. Maybe if Cal's damage output was higher okay, but it feels like hitting enemies with a wooden stick. I just finished a run on Fallen Order on Jedi Master so I felt good about my first survivor play through being on Jedi Knight. It’s about what I expected. Not so challenging that I’m frustrated but not so easy I feel invincible. I found the drop-down from grandmaster to master was surprising, GM was hardcore af, the moment you get surrounded by more than four or five enemies you need to be absolutely perfect with your dodge and parry. Master was a breeze after trying and failing at that lol Played through on Jedi Knight mode just because it felt right since Cal's a knight. It was certainly a grind, but had some pretty satisfying kills. (that's only when the damned game wouldn't crash though) The difficulty is also shown on the HUD. In the bottom left where the d-pad buttons are shown, there is a dot in 1(2 if Grandmaster) of the 4 corners. The lowest starts top left and goes CW from there with Grandmaster having 2 dots top right and bottom left Whenever I’m playing on Grandmaster, I find it much easier to use a defensive stance such as the cross guard of double saber. It really helps prevent your block meter from running out too fast Playing on the higher difficulties I found the double blade stance to be so useful against ranged attacks I feel like for Grandmaster, dual wield and cross guard are gonna be the move. Dual wield for just running around killing enemies, cross guard for those situations where your block is being drained quickly I started with Grandmaster, and personally, I used some of the force powers but it was mostly about picking off your opponents from ranged to melee or from weakest to strongest with lightsaber attacks. I was using duel wield and blaster stances. So glad to hear I’m not alone in wanting to play on the Padawan difficulty. I was playing Jedi Knight, but it wasn’t fun. It was annoying, and I couldn’t seem to get the party right. Padawan lets me not get so involved in the fight and I can step back and learn. 100%, the double blade and cross guard stance were my go-to stances in Grand Master. Cross Guard takes a lot of learning, but once you have it down, it shreds.
It blows my mind that people do pay full price for games nowadays when, like you say they’re on sale in 3 months with far fewer bugs. Gamers have been groomed to accept that this is state of the industry and people seemingly have no issues with it. It’s quite sad.
and yet here we are in the god awful state of the games industry with morons still pre-ordering to get that sweet keychain for their gun pre order bonus garbage.
@@PepoX2612 It's only games like RE4 and Dead Space Remake (despite the stuttering, which I managed to mitigate, and VRAM leak) that keep me holding on to being a PC Gamer. I was about to just go buy Jedi Survivor on PS5 (despite me having a 3080 Ti and 5800x3D) - but now I think I am in no great rush, which is sad because it was one of my most anticipated titles of 2023.
I beat fallen order shortly before survivor came out and my entire last 2 hours of the game were desynced. I closed my app like many websites said but nothing happened and ended up watching the V**** scene with the voices all fucked up.
I have to say, the sort of game design you describe from 20:30 on is the exact kind of thing I have been hoping for more of in modern gaming. Cosmetic/side content that's treated like respectable gameplay and which stands up on it's own. Things just being fun for their own sake, not just busywork you put up with for rewards and bonuses. Core gameplay that's fun and intuitive enough that it doesn't need to be papered-over with numbers, stats and pointless upgrades (Although, from your combat description, I guess they did not stick the landing on this one). Still, it is kind of shocking to see this kind of design philosophy from an EA-owned studio. I figured the management would have smothered ideas like these in the crib for being "not monetized enough" and "not psychologically manipulative enough to retain the attention of the lowest denominator" or whatever. I might pick this up in a year or so, once the performance is hopefully fixed. Here's hoping they don't use the technical problems as an excuse to kill this sort of design in the future.
It’s the same issues with FO when it released. It still has bugs but honestly, the gameplay made up for it imo. That’s why I’m excited to play Survivor once it gets a couple patches.
Pretty much my experience with Cyberpunk. I basically got to enjoy it recently because of the anime and I didn't experience most of the bugs that it had on release.
Lol its like saying. Aah I remember the time I had to wait one month for a certain magazine to release with one review that I wanted to read. Good times.
@@redshift912 oh yeah , so simple... so simple that no devs can re-create GTA 4 , or Half Life 2 , or Halo , or Mass Effect 2 with todays technology . VERY SIMPLE , you can do it too
The biggest problem with combat is enemies can animation-cancel you but you cant animation-cancel them. So whenever you get an opportunity for a cool move or a combo type move they can just tap you before you get it off and you just take a hit edit: to the "get good" guys in the replies. Yes, I also play on the hardest difficulty. Yes, this game is easy to abuse the dodge mechanic and it's very easy to time parries. Thats not what I or anyone is complaining about.
@@Omega77232 From playing Fallen Order, I think the combat desperately needs a visual spidey-sense dodge system like in Spider-man. Remember Luke "feeling the force" when Obi-Wan gave him a helmet with an opaque visor for his first training? You're a damn Jedi but in this game you're relying entirely on watching the enemy's animations and trying to get the timing just right for your dodge/parry window and it's not even a very generous window.
So many of the animations look so janky and don't blend into each other, and there's times where Cal has a fucking giant double-bladed lightsaber taking up the entire screen and yet manages to miss enemies that are directly in front of him. Maybe it's not so bad actually playing it, but seeing these wonky goofy animations made me not wanna play the first game or this one.
The lightsaber customization system in the first game was one of the best parts about it. So seeing it return in such an enhanced way, is awesome! I'm so excited to play Survivor in 6-12 months!
@The Rotten💯 Iirc Deus Ex Mankind Divided did it okay by saying Adam Jensen got abducted or something after the first game while on a mission and had alot of his more advanced augs ripped out and/or damaged. (Been awhile since I played it)
Tbh, you’re like me but I’m like years behind lol. I usually do this just because I can wait for both the games and hardware prices to drop so upgrading is cheaper. Buying things upfront on release day these days suck ass.
Most of us PC gamers have such a huge back log of games on our Steam accounts that we can afford to be patient. There's plenty of games I can spend time with until they fix this.
The interlocking lightsaber on paper has the potential to be one of the coolest morph weapons ever; it's such a shame that they didn't capitalize on that and develop the combat experience more. Switching between 4-5 stances seemlessly depending on your situational needs or to create combos and strings would have been so cool.
It should have been at the very least a post-game unlock like in DMC5. It also would have been better with more delay and multibutton combos. Still though, it's clear they wanted you to master 2 stances at a time, and it goes with Cal still not being a master Jedi.
This. I mainly am so bummed out about this game not reaching what it should have been because one thing, and that is that this game could be fantastic on a CONCEPTUAL level. What I mean by that is like you said with interlocking lightsabers, mixing force abilities with melee combat etc. I think the souls approach was a horrible idea tbh with this game, it’s hard to explain why this games combat feels so bland and repetitive. But I don’t feel like narrowing down every reason why it’s bad, all I’d say is just make the third game so much more fast paced and free flowing, god of war ragnorok is probably the best combat system I’ve ever played, it strikes the perfect balance between very challenging enemy design (although I do have a few gripes with that) and very satisfying and fast paced combat. Jedi 3 or whatever they call it should completely branch off from what it’s done so far imo. It should stop trying to be the Star Wars version of souls, and just be A Star Wars combat game, that is more akin to god of war and other Great combat systems. It’s actually surprising because the combat director/lead was the lead on god of war 3’s combat, which yea I get that those two systems are completely different but I’m surprised how he went from formulating such a satisfying, exhilarating combat experience from that game, to making this buggy, janky, slow, sluggish and boring combat.
3min into it & it's all mostly negative & it does not get better by 5min so you that combined with the title tells you what the rest of the review entails.
I watch all your vids but never comment. I gotta say your review style is superb, u clearly put a lot of work into your scripts. No matter the game u do due diligence and know what your talking about. Keep it up mate 👏
@@znubionek Fallen Order runs just fine. I have video of its performance up on my channel on hardware way weaker than what I am currently using. Was playing it at 1440P max settings around 100 fps or higher. Nothing wrong with its performance. Now I have a much stronger CPU Ryzen 5800X3D and a RTX 4070 Ti and it will barely each 60 fps at the same resolution. Fallen Orders performance compared to this games is amazing.
Not supporting pre-order culture would go a long way to improving the quality of products at launch because developers would have less incentive to rush the product. It wouldn't entirely resolve the problems, but it would be a great first step to sending a very clear message to the developers and publishers.
I haven't preordered a game since......well...ever. what's the point? It's available to download day one with no limitations in stock. Any preorder bonus is never worth it to me personally and I have been waiting to buy any game for years until its st least 50% off or it ends up free on ps+ because money 😂.
@@shawngaetz8161 Pre-ordering for digital goods betrays what was intended for the overall concept. It was introduced as a means to securing a copy in the event of stock being limited. That issue doesn't exist with digital.
I'm glad I played this on console. It had a few frame drops but overall it was a completely playable experience. And I absolutely loved this game. It had me completely hooked from beginning to end. Amazing story and gameplay
It’s not broken. Cyberpunk was broken. This is simply very un-optimized. Quality mode on ps5 runs well enough. Needs work but hey even naughty dog is releasing crappy pc ports.
I can just imagine the problems on consoles that most Gamers will have. I will take a look at radbrad video and see if there's any problems because he is already up to part 3.🤞🏿🤞🏿🤞🏿🤞🏿🤞🏿🤞🏿🤞🏿🤞🏿🤞🏿.
Incredible review, I also purchased and "played" the game on pc on release and the fact that a ton of big name reviewers failed to mention the terrible performance is ridiculous. I love that you review games on more of an average consumer PC
It does not have poor performance on every system. They may have been unaware of the issues others were having when they were playing their review copy.
My older system ran things better than people with newer systems. The main problem was that you were systems have a different type of p cores and e cores. And the game for whatever reason didn’t take into account for that. At least at first. It runs great now. But yeah, for whatever reason the game was treating the processor as all the same cores. It wasn’t putting them to power ones. My sixth generation i7 6700k and 980ti was able to run things on high settings and I wasn’t experiencing anywhere near the FPS drops that people with much stronger machines were experiencing. That’s my guess anyway.
@@zbigniewsmyk It's not mid range, yeah, but it's still closer to the average than what most reviewers use. Besides, a huge number of players on Steam literally just use their PC to play CSGO or DOTA which are not very demanding at all, so the most used GPUs list might not be the perfect representative of the ones who are gonna buy and play AAA titles day 1.
Yeah but reviewing a multi-platform game on the most inferior platform is crazy to me. I get he reviews it on his preferred platform but let's be honest, games are made for console so reviewing on pc this day & age is knowingly asking for an inferior product for 90% of games.
@@TheJacyn313 Games are made for profit, not console. its just a coincidence (and result of PC piracy) that console is the better market, so PC players get shit ports. Any game made primarily for PC tends to be a better experience, compared to titles back-ported to PC after dev/publisher decided to focus on console.
It's always worth it to play a bit older games and wait until the price has dropped, bugs have been fixed and new content released there are so many games to play already.
Rather than buying a game in a bad state on release, I buy 2-4 games for the same total price half a year later. If I bought everything full price, I probably would have had 3-4 times less games than I do.
@@AirDrifter77 tbf Elden ring was bad for the first month on pc, choppy frames on PCs way higher specs than necessary. Didn't get fixed till the next month.

I made some changes to my Nvidia control that helped a ton! also if you download lasso process, disable smt, enable high performance priority for CPU and power management within lasso. In Nvidia control panel: 1. Turn image scaling on within Jedi survival program settings in the manage 3D settings tab. 2. Turn on Multisample for anti aliasing transparency. 3. Set power management to prefer maximum power. 4. Set texture filtering for anisotropic sample to on. 5. Set texture filtering for negative lod bias to allow. 6. Set texture filtering quality to performance. 7. Set texture filtering trilinear optimization to on. In game settings. I'm running at 2k/1440p All settings high. No FSR. No RT. On an rtx 3070, and Ryzen-9 5900x. I went from 40fps to 73fps and the picture quality looks better. Don't forget to reset game and system after implantation of new settings.
I love Skill Up because even if I dont always agree with him I find he is the most consistent in his opinions across games that I can always TRUST his opinion.
I usually agree with you but not this time. This review is trash! play it on PS5 and he wont have these issues. But not only that, putting performance issues aside, he is just wrong about the combat and general gameplay loop. Its awesome! I feel like he shat on it way too much
I dont even watch this guy, but going through his channel i can tell he is wildly inconsistent and wrong about many games. Place your trust elsewhere, or view it as one of many opinions to consider
Thank you for being the one reviewer that didn’t treat the terrible performance issues like some minor gripe unlike soo many other reviewers for this game apparently.
@Wade Halvorson Agreed. While the performance on there isn't perfect either, at least its playable and doesn't hinder my experience as bad. I keep hearing that some people can't even get past the title screen on their PCs.
I’ve been playing in ps5 and have experienced no issues. Ig it wasn’t optimized for pc but from experience outside of pc and in console it’s my favorite game this year. I absolutely love it
Hey, I've noticed and really appreciate the fact you put the specs of which ever hardware on screen to make it easier to visually identify :) I know you've done it for a while, but the sentiment is appreciated every time. Keep up the great work. You're the best gaming news outlet out there in my opinion
@@kluneberg8952 That's because cyperbunk had the opposite problem of this game. It ran poorly on consoles, but better on pcs. This game runs worse on pc and better on console.
Cool to see them improve the cosmetic drops from the previous game. Going the whole game only getting poncho and robot skins got pretty old so it's nice they added a lot more to that reward structure
Not to mention that 90% of the ponchos were hideous. I usually just kept the poncho off and wore all black. I did mess with my Lightsaber about a million times, though.
Hi Skill-up. Loved the review, and like you I can confirm that no matter what I do to the settings nothing seems to matter. I didn't have the audio issues that you had, although occasionally you could tell the cutscene wasn't streaming well with a minor hiccup. I'm playing on an I9 9900k, RTX 3080 10GB, 64GB RAM @ 2666Mhz and Audio output through a SoundblasterX Ae-5 dedicated sound card.
I've saw a breakdown of performance showing that the issue is a CPU bottleneck, which may be a bug but it's why changing settings doesn't help. If you take your system and plop a better CPU in it, you should see an improvement but changing setting will still not change the performance. (A better CPU will result in a performance bump but the game still can't utilise the CPU properly and it will still hold the GPU back.)

Couldn't agree more on the combat and platforming complaints. I often find myself missing the linear, more focused levels of Fallen Order. In Survivor it feels like every turn is platforming, climbing, swinging, puzzling etc. and it gets exhausting. I'm aware FO was the same way but it wasn't as repetitive with its smaller levels (except the damn slides man I don't miss those). Survivor makes that "on rails" feeling stand out a lot more. There's also a lot of gotcha moments that become predictable. Any time I see a set piece that might break or whatever I just assume I'm gonna fall down a hole or something is gonna throw me off the course. It's a little bit overused. The combat is pretty much the same. The actual mechanics of it are fine, always have been, but the stances are kind of meh. They don't add enough to really shake things up but there's still more ways to play so whatever. Crossguard is my favorite so far with double (saber staff) being very close behind. The larger mobs and force resistant enemies are just kind of annoying. It's all doable, I'm not even having trouble, but it can be tedious. Some fights I feel like I either get shot in the back every time drop my guard/swing, or I'm heavily defending/parrying/shooting/pursuing until the ranged nerds are done for and I can clean up the rest. It is easy to get stunlocked if you aren't careful and it sucks. At least the beasts knock you down and it resets combat to neutral. They give you these long windup moves in every tree but a lot of times you get hit, shot or both while trying to charge them. Which is fine other than the fact that, per the descrpition, a lot of these are meant to be your crowd control/AOE moves. If they were high risk, single target attacks I would feel better about them (crossguard is the only stance I use since I got it so idc that you have to think/time), but I was looking forward to these moves and I've since respecced and spent those points elsewhere. There's so many better ways to dismantle large groups that they aren't worth the effort. There's definitely stuff from the first game that needed improvement. Unfortunately, they kept in some of those annoyances and favored adding more of them and, well, more of everything. More is great in some aspects and very samey in others. I'm enjoying the game overall but I find myself condemning the same things in Survivor that I did in Fallen Order.
I couldn't agree more about the platforming, puzzling and climbing. More than half of the game are annoying platforming puzzles and the combat encounters are few and far between. You have to jump around like a madman for 20 minutes just to fight some random storm troopers that get knocked off in less than a minute. What a waste.
Yeah, I liked Fallen Order a lot but I wish it had combat from The Force Unleashed rather than from Souls games. I guess the same thing applies here but I’ll be sure when I give the new game a try
@@Mr.Scott86 I’d somewhat agree with it. The Force Unleashed combat is more about “how do I kill the enemies in the most stylish and sick way to get as much points as possible” when Fallen Order combats is more like “how do I kill the enemies with the abilities I have”. To each their own, nothing wrong with enjoying any of these approaches to do in game combat.
I personally didn't run into many performance issues and this is with out a doubt my favorite star wars game ever made. From a story standpoint, KOTOR is king but from a gameplay standpoint it's VERY hard to argue against this game.
I'd agree. Didn't really run into performance issues (on PS5) when playing through the story. Postgame though, I entered an area and fell off the map on solid ground multiple times, leading to loss of major progress. The game even threw me off map during combat, crashed and got me losing progress. Besides these issues though, I had a blast with it, even getting 100% completion eventually. I wish the game autosaved.
Yea, unfortunately all these new titles being released are awful on performance wise… They shouldn’t be releasing it until they are fixed, but most likely they dont have the final say on it…
@@lalo38th41 nope that's just how you perceive it. EA has consistently released poor pc ports, and they haven't stopped. That fact doesn't mean other publishers don't do the same and it wasn't inferred in op's comment.
As a PC gamer using a 3070, I truly appreciate the diligence you put into your review in terms of settings testing and attempting to find a stable baseline. No one told me I’d be adventuring with Charles Smith again! Also, I love your honesty and the info you share in your reviews. There’s a reason you’re one of the best! Keep it up!
Nah this aussie guy tries to be edgy with opinions just because. Gameranx is much better. He lost me with the "swashbuckling adeventure" talking about star wars lol
The audio stuttering in the cutscenes is apparently caused by the VSync function when turned on - at least according to German publication GameStar you mentioned in your review.
if VSync causes that, the devs should fix it, because VSync doesn't fucking cause that kind of problem, not to mention it's high end pcs. It tells the gpu when to draw a frame, not messing with the audio.
on a 5800x3d with 4090 at 3440x1440p performance isn't nearly as bad as this review, so they probably pushed a patch a few hours after launch. Still not great though.
Borked pc launches usually take a month at the minimum to start seeing massive faults fixed. This game as big as it is probably won't have alot of those big issues ironed out until around a little over half a year from now by my guess. Hopefully by that point there will be a decent sale.
Bruh... this is just clickbait... The tittle suggest there is something wrong with the game mechanics or something like that, not bugs or fixable issues... We all know AAA games are not worth preordering and its recommended to wait until patches are applied but this title just says that there is something wrong with the game but doesn't specify that is a technical issue not a game issue... This type of content sucks
Yet ANOTHER REASON to not buy triple A games on day 1. I play mainly on console so I'm glad Gamefly exists for renting regardless of if these problems were to happen or not. Which I've heard the ps5 version still has some of the same issues.
Yeah, it's weird that Ralph chose to play a huge modern triple A game on PC when every other games has come out in a bad state recently. Fool me twice shame on me...
@@kanecassidy9126 The other issue with pc gaming (coming from a guy who has built his own rig) is that they vary so much that some people will have a better experience. In Fallen Order there was a near unanimous bug with the cutscenes, the longer you played, an increasingly noticeable audio delay would stockpile. Only a reset would resync the audio Almost all platforms had a near 15 second delay during one particular cutscene where Cal got a new crystal in an ice cave. Strange to see that the sequel has weird audio glitches of its own
I'm a PS5 gamer and I am LOVING this game. Now, there are still some technical issues. I fully see them, but for me im just having so much fun with the story, exploration, and the combat. The framerate does dip from time to time. The backgrounds clip. But what they get right is immerse me in the Star Wars world. If only the recent movies had this this kind of lore and care.
@The Artist Formerly Known As WarBot dude he literally tells you the game is good and that he doesn’t recommend it because of the pc performance. Media literacy 0.
@Jake Gottfried mods too a good reason for pc but the 1st gane ran better on pc then on ps5 for me even on performance mode better just get it for pc if u can
It's super refreshing to see a review where someone can outline the numerous benefits and that he loved it, but also refuse to recommend it based on performance. Most reviews would just have chucked it in the trash without outlining each area positively or negatively. Definitely going to sub, and thanks for saving me $60 till this game is fixed.
I luckily didn't get the desync audio issues but however during this cutscene 11:13 for me the wielder guy that shows up for a brief moment, his meshes and textures didn't load in like at all
I don’t like the idea of Cal killing mind controlled fauna that he’s done with. At least not as a Jedi. If this game had a dynamic choice system where choices affect the character and ending sure. Such choices should lead you down the dark side. But a Jedi? No. Jedi are supposed to be spiritually attuned with the force with connects all living things. Would’ve been far better if Cal put his hand on the head of whatever creature he controlled and released it from his control.
@@a1pha_star Refinement is pretty much what they do, you just phrased it differently. It's rare when sequels fells "legit", like you can notice the "jump". Mario World 1 and 2 are the classic examples, the sequel is so different and more advanced it ended up spawning a Yoshi spin-off. Considering how this Jedi sequel arrived just 3 years later, it's not a surprised the devs just followed the "more of the same" route, it's the standard of the industry really
This sort of contrived gameyness of the exploration and traversal has really gotten to me recently. I really like trying to scour maps but not when all the goodies are hidden by the usual suspects of puzzles. For me most of these things never feel failable, so instead they just feel like obtuse uses of time.
@@victorn1291 yeah I hate how everything starts to feel so artificially stretched out. It’s like if you wanted to get a drink of water but it took 10 minutes to open the cupboard. I felt the same way about Horizon Forbidden West. The puzzles were never hard but just huge time sinks
Some of the jumping and dashing reminded me of a platform game. Which is fine when its something like Hi-Fi Rush or Spyro... not so much when its a game trying to be dramatic.
@@razorburn645 myself I’m not bothered by that per se, just that I don’t like how it feels like you snap to everything. I realize on some level that’s how games are designed but it all feels so thinly veiled in some games.
I totally agree. I understand not every game can be Skyrim. But, I need some form of interaction. I can’t stand these vast open worlds beautifully detailed with no interaction: pretty to look at but shallow as a puddle. People don’t even want this game I think we’d all prefer KOTOR3.
You didn't even watched the full video lmao... I'm still not dissapointed with this game... Only PC players crying because of bugs & crashes... Works fine on my PS5... It's the best Star Wars Adventure
I respect your opinion about the combat, I also need to add that for me personal this combat system is a lot of fun. And I come from the dark souls category of player lol. Anyway, I think they improved the combat significantly compared to the first game. I would love to have the same FO in combat attack that allows you to switch to another stance. The New Game Plus allows you to skill up the other stances. So you have excitement for that after beating the first run. Overall this is my game of the year, and never before in Star Wars game history, I felt like a true kick ass Jedi.

It's really not up to RESPAWN's standards, but it's well within EA's "quality standard". It's almost been 2 years and they still cant even push DICE to get 2042 up to snuff, the bar is low. I guess dead space was alright, but I wouldnt call that game optimized at all.
You've quickly become my favorite game reviewer. Your honesty is awesome, and the little things like reviewing games based on average PC specs using an entirely different machine are so telling at how much this stuff matters to you, and I appreciate that.

I like your suggestion about stance-switching attacks. I could certainly imagine a combo starting with a single lightsaber, leading into a hip shot with the blaster, then continuing in lightsaber+blaster stance. Or dual-wielding, throwing one lightsaber and fighting in single lightsaber stance until it returns.
I always appreciate the honesty and transparency you have with these reviews, especially this one. I was in awe with the premise of using the more common cards used by the masses as I think this is something most reviewers should do (if they have the budget of course for more tests with different setups). Great review and it certainly shows why you're in the top (if not the best) at reviewing games, cheers!

What aggravates me about these Jedi games is that exploration is so limited (invisible walls, like you said), killing any creativity in exploration, yet, they force you to get creative sometimes with no obvious clues/hints at how they expect you to navigate certain paths (hopping on/off the animal to get to the higher ledge). Either reward creativity by giving more freedom to explore, OR make it linear but give some prompts/hints when an expected path isn’t super clear.
The design philosophy reeks of the rather outdated "Don't trust the player, just make your game" which was commonly accepted in the industry...until indie games utterly blew that notion out of the water. Respawn seems stuck with that mindset, with the addition of the studio killer EA hanging over their head. I can't blame them, but it's sad they haven't tried to improve
This really summates my feelings and why im having difficulty finishing this game, it kills my flow everytime and honestly im so bored of the movement.
THANK YOU! You are the first reviewer I've seen on Jedi Survivor tell the truth. Most are like "well, its great but just be warned the fps can be a little jittery" like no, it is down right unplayable on pc. I had to get a full refund, because for whatever reason my 3080ti and 5900X pc cannot get more than around 15 fucking frames. The game is a slide show, and cutscenes are somehow worse than gameplay. The cutscenes lock up, stutter, freeze, and desync with audio CONSTANTLY. Don't buy this game, don't tell these companies they can keep getting away with these scams. This is not a good game. It is a broken product not worth your time, attention, or money.
@@thefink6146 Oh I certainly tried a reinstall before refunding. I'm glad it's working for you and like three other people, but reinstalling will not fix a fundamentally broken game.
@@thefink6146 Again what does that prove? So because the game is playable allegedly for you, and for some streamer, that means what? That the thousands of us who have an unplayable mess are lying? Or installing the game wrong? It is our fault? And Charlie probably has a much stronger system than I do. A 3080ti is pretty beefy, but it aint even close to a 4090, which is what I would guess he has. Yes several videos have shown that a 4090 can sort of power through the nonsense optimization to squeak out 60 frames somewhat consistently. Just watch the digital foundry review if you think we are making this up or doing something wrong. You have no point.
Great review Skillup, I was hearing some bad thing about the PC port. But you covered everything, not just performance, but the all aspects of the game. Thanks :)
This has actually aged very well. PC version still crashes constantly and they gave up on the PS5 version. I'm the idiot that bought both thinking they couldn't possibly be that bad...
It’s gotta suck being a part of a video game team and being like “oh man I can’t wait for this project to be over, I’ve spent weeks designing these lightsabers, I hope the team working on PC a optimization are working just as hard!” And then to have the game launch and just become a laughing stock of a video game.
Honestly, I absolutely hate having to memorize a lot of combos for games, so having some basic tools you need to utilized in specific scenarios is ideal for me.
You know what's funny? When we made a video about the bad parts of the game the people thought it's clickbait 😂 thank you Skill Up for for this in depth take❤

My favorite part about a lot of modern releases is that by the time they're playable, they're on sale
It blows my mind that people do pay full price for games nowadays when, like you say they’re on sale in 3 months with far fewer bugs. Gamers have been groomed to accept that this is state of the industry and people seemingly have no issues with it. It’s quite sad.
Right!?!
Being a patient gamer has its perks, everyone can beta test it at full price while we buy it with a good discount and already patched
Hell yeah! Only time I've payed full price for a game was God of War Ragnarok
Fully patched, all DLC included, GOTY edition for 20-30 bucks FTW!!!
As a wise man once said, "When you buy a game on release, you are paying the most amount of money for the worst version of a game."
and yet here we are in the god awful state of the games industry with morons still pre-ordering to get that sweet keychain for their gun pre order bonus garbage.

The desynced audio happened in Fallen Order for me as well, so nice to see that feature carried over
I beat fallen order shortly before survivor came out and my entire last 2 hours of the game were desynced.
It's kind of been established that Respawn Entertainment gets to do things somewhat their own way compared to most other EA studios
The way my game froze as cal said “yeah we had uh…technical problems”

The biggest problem with combat is enemies can animation-cancel you but you cant animation-cancel them. So whenever you get an opportunity for a cool move or a combo type move they can just tap you before you get it off and you just take a hit
edit: to the "get good" guys in the replies. Yes, I also play on the hardest difficulty. Yes, this game is easy to abuse the dodge mechanic and it's very easy to time parries. Thats not what I or anyone is complaining about.
So this game needs a poise system like in ER or something like that
@@Omega77232 From playing Fallen Order, I think the combat desperately needs a visual spidey-sense dodge system like in Spider-man.
Use grab and guy still hits you, feels bad.

Tbh, you’re like me but I’m like years behind lol. I usually do this just because I can wait for both the games and hardware prices to drop so upgrading is cheaper. Buying things upfront on release day these days suck ass.

Yep. Lol. I used to buy games at launch, but it's not 2013 anymore. I'm just now playing Tales of Arise.
Literally no one cares
Most of us PC gamers have such a huge back log of games on our Steam accounts that we can afford to be patient. There's plenty of games I can spend time with until they fix this.
The interlocking lightsaber on paper has the potential to be one of the coolest morph weapons ever; it's such a shame that they didn't capitalize on that and develop the combat experience more. Switching between 4-5 stances seemlessly depending on your situational needs or to create combos and strings would have been so cool.
They could have looked at Nioh 2 and basically did that.
@@fraundakelmbrilpondaprost90 got to leave some stuff for the next game
So a true iterative sequel, double-down on the bugs, jank and performance issues

Cool to see them improve the cosmetic drops from the previous game. Going the whole game only getting poncho and robot skins got pretty old so it's nice they added a lot more to that reward structure

The patch yesterday helped quite a bit for me. It's still not optimized by any means but playable.
It’s crazy though that every game I was hyped for this year I haven’t actually played. Just waiting for fixes somewhere down the line

So basically the game is good….just not for PC😂

To each their own, nothing wrong with enjoying any of these approaches to do in game combat.
I personally didn't run into many performance issues and this is with out a doubt my favorite star wars game ever made. From a story standpoint, KOTOR is king but from a gameplay standpoint it's VERY hard to argue against this game.

Either reward creativity by giving more freedom to explore, OR make it linear but give some prompts/hints when an expected path isn’t super clear.

Works just fine for me. I’d say try a reinstall. I’ve got the same specs as you.
@@thefink6146 Oh I certainly tried a reinstall before refunding. I'm glad it's working for you and like three other people, but reinstalling will not fix a fundamentally broken game.
@@goldenhole321 I mean Charlie himself said it was working for him, too
@@thefink6146 Again what does that prove? So because the game is playable allegedly for you, and for some streamer, that means what? That the thousands of us who have an unplayable mess are lying? Or installing the game wrong? It is our fault? And Charlie probably has a much stronger system than I do. A 3080ti is pretty beefy, but it aint even close to a 4090, which is what I would guess he has. Yes several videos have shown that a 4090 can sort of power through the nonsense optimization to squeak out 60 frames somewhat consistently. Just watch the digital foundry review if you think we are making this up or doing something wrong. You have no point.
Sucks for you it was a fantastic game I got 40 hrs on it
Great review Skillup, I was hearing some bad thing about the PC port. But you covered everything, not just performance, but the all aspects of the game. Thanks :)
What does the PC have that consoles don’t??……….Denuvo…….

Yeah. I’m old. I grew up at a different time. I prefer a handful of moves and combos and fun gameplay.
Some people aren't slow and want an immersive challenge, not a children's game.
Then play Candy Crush.
@@TJPavey ehh there's old games that require you to write up maps for them.. games are simple nowadays
@@SizeThickPlz lmao most games these days are absolutely easy children’s games compared to old games
You know what's funny? When we made a video about the bad parts of the game the people thought it's clickbait 😂 thank you Skill Up for for this in depth take❤
It's sad
I think there is more incentive for smaller reviewers to use clickbait to grow their channels
But you was absolutely spot on. Copium is one helluva drug
I'll sub, just for that
@@halflucan Man... I'm to keep everything positive ..95% of my content is positive .. I gave the game 80/100
I had another controversial video game that "blew up" in views. First incentive was make 5 more. But I refused. If i make my point on something that's it. If it gets a mil views okay. I want to make quality content. And grow nice and slow. Please don't take it as self promotion I'm just emphasizing my point.
@@dailyhubranx I truly don’t get why people get mad if reviewers say a game is bad and people call that being “negative”. If you’re just reporting FACTS then negativity has nothing to do with it. I think people make too many excuses for publishers/devs when they put out a hot pile of 💩 and if you insult a game people had been waiting for they’ll label it as being negative. Truly some 🤡🤡 behavior.
Keep doing what you’re doing, catering to simps is not worth it.
