I think John referred to Arthur while speaking to Marshall Johnson “Ya know, I hear you speak, and suddenly I’m reminded how some of the people I respected most in my life had a problem with authority”. John respected Dutch, for raising him and saving him from Micah, but I believe he also referred to Arthur and Hosea. Actually I screwed up the quote. John was such an amazing character. He did everything for his family and he didn't even flinch when his time came. He sacrificed himself so they could be free. Unfortunately, like a Quentin Tarantino movie, the cycle repeats itself.
Both heroes in this story feel like they go out swinging, the only way a warrior can go out. It’s powerful to be in the driver’s seat for those narrative moments.
I like the sound of the rain slapping the roof. Relaxing. Most games don't bother with rain sound effects while indoors, some games will just delete the weather entirely once you go inside.
I really hope that they make a remake of RDR1. I would love to see this scene (and all of the game) in the same quality of RDR2. Maybe they could even add some little references to Arthur into a remake (but not too many, to keep the idea that RDR2's epilogue gave us that the reason that Arthur isn't mentioned much is because it's painful for John - which is a nice way to explain the in-universe reason for the lack of reference in RDR1 to such an important character to John's story, but it would still be nice to have some little details for those players who have played RDR2).
Oof... do I got bad new for you, sadly rockstar has instead went the milking route of GTA rather than remastering/remaking RDR1, it's a real shame would've liked to play it again maybe even have a better epilogue with Jack.

John took a final stand trying to give his wife and son a chance at that life the Pinkerton's destroyed, knowing he couldn't win the fight. Abigail fought so Jack wouldn't become a gunslinger. The Marstons will never learn - they'll olways lokk back - but i get why, its truly a amazing story. The last true legends of the wild west - Arthur and John
this is such a realistic portrayal of death, its out of nowhere, unfair, frustrating. john doesn't lay on the ground and say his last words as he dies he simply just dies. honestly one of the saddest deaths in gaming history
You know what something just hit me that never quite made sense, uncle, the one who got slandered all the way through the prequel lumbago or not the man who was so useless the whole time yet proved his undying loyalty until the end, was in fact the only member who was never buried, kinda sad considering Arthur john and uncle were the only ones who earned their redemption
I had to go back and look because i thought i might've been wrong , but i wasn't lol Look at 13:20 and you can see the three headstones, they were definitely buried next to each other.
It’s been so many years since I’ve played this game. I remember crying back then, and it still makes me tear up now. I hate rockstar, but god damn do they know how to make a compelling story
i also think it's cool how if arthur dies with high honor, his grave, adorned with flowers, says "blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness" because of his desire to change. john's grave says "blessed are the peacemakers" which reflects the way he has changed. i think maybe both graves were made to be a little similar? idk, just thought it was nice.
arthur and john dying in both games felt like losing a brother, or a good friend. after their deaths ingame i was legit crying irl and starting new games didnt help either it didnt have that charm that the first time had. still, rockstar really knows how to make bangin stories that make your eyes tear up like hell and i applaud them for that, even though they may not always make good/do good things for their games
I thought the game ended when John was murdered I was 16 when I played the game, so I cant really remember exactly how I felt What I do remember is hanging my head and not believing after all that story to get back to the family, that asshole Ross still killed him Lots of tragic stories I can think of, but the end of RDR1 holds a very special place in my heart
If they really do remake this game then I think they should add some dialogue of John talking about Arthur. It just seems odd that he never mentions the man that saved his family.
I just saw today that rockstar put the remasters for RDR1 and GTA4 on the shelf to focus on GTA6 because of the GTA Trilogy failure. It kinda crushed my spirit to be quite honest.
@@RedsDeadBaby you’d think they would’ve realized even before they remastered the gta trilogy that people care WAAAAAAAAY more about gta4 and rdr1 Oh yeah and they didn’t put it on the shelf they put it in the fucking trash can

@@itookashittoday1146 Yeah, the issue with the remasters wasn't which games they chose. It was that they decided the best way to "remaster" the originals was to train an AI to upscale everything and, seemingly, didn't then go in and realise it was a complete failure and waste of time and they really ought to have gone in and done a lot of it by hand. Honestly, if that was the plan they had for GTAIV and RDR, then I'm happy they shelved those. I'm not being over-dramatic when I say RDR especially would have been rendered unplayable by such a treatment.
I agree with the sentiment that Abagail did indeed die of a broken heart. Think about it, John saved her in every way possible, he knew her history but he wanted her, through that she gained trust, & respect, & the truest love she'd ever known, & in the end he saved her again & gave her a chance for a life, this broke her soul & spirit. I've seen this 1st hand my Mother & Father, my mom passed 1st & yr and half later my father past, he was lost without her, they were married 47 yrs, mom had a massive heart attack, & dad died from liver cancer, it was all so sudden, as this was all unfolding around me & my brother Christopher, this is when he was still alive, he died a yr after dad that nearly ended me. My whole family within 3 yrs. I think when we love someone so much, and they pass a part us dies to, it hurts our heart & our soul to lose what once was everything & mattered so much. One thing I learned after my loss is don't remember how they died, but how they lived, in that way all your memories are good ones, and you honor their lives. We have to go on, we can't give up, they would never want that for us, after all they gave us life & brought into this world. My memories all started out in 1962, but didn't end in 2005 when my brother died, they go on until my time is up, if Heaven is real, & I hope it is I'll see my family again. So yes I agree that John's death just destroyed her, they had gone through too much together, she could not go on. I did a lot reading about Abagail's death, there's no mention of how she died whatsoever. What hurt was watching Jack standing at all the graves, that killed me he lost everyone, that hit me hard. Everything he'd ever known was gone, and now where does he go?, what does he do? We know the answer we saw it coming, Ross was a total bastard, he used John in every way possible, had John do all of his dirty work. Where he was mistaken, there would be a calling & a retribution, Jack saw to that.
Honestly John's death hurst even more after playing rdr2 all of sacrifices Arthur and the gang made so John and Abigail could only have 4 years of happiness until you know...
And at 7:59 Arthur also tells John to also go look for a place to hide as well and also that he would catch up with John. This is when Arthur's horse is shot and he goes and comforts The horse and then after that he gives his hat to John
I feel like John was my family it's crazy what Rockstar did there. They created a character that the player has a deep relatiosnhip with an then brutally kill him off....these sadists
Just played RDR for the first time and finished it today. I knew the ending for years as does everyone. It’s an iconic ending. But Jack saying “The day John Marston stopped shooting” was jaw dropping when knowing what comes next. Just so sad that that book will be written sooner than expected
I've always thought John could've survived if he engaged dead eye with the 22-bullet Evans Repeater and shot everyone in the face, instead of using a Revolver
Say what you want about Dutch but he was right. They have to find another "monster" to justify there wages. It's quite sad. But it was foreshadowing. From there I knew it immediately, John would die in the end.😔
It sucks that Charles and Sadie aren't there. Landon would maybe offer help but the problem was that he died in his sleep a week before this happen. Uncle and John were all by themselves against them. Honestly, I'm glad Uncle found John again at Blackwater. If he hadn't, he'd probably die somewhere else. Playing RDR2 as John after 1 was just too damn sad knowing their fate in the end. But for what is worth, John died as a better man with a better life for his wife and son, than that snake rat to which there's a name for that but we'll call it Micah. As for Ross, he got what's coming to him by the last member of the Dutch Van Der Linde gang: Jack Marston.
I have a feeling that Red Dead Redemption not only is an unique franchise, but the only one that will never work with sequels, but with prequels, and the beauty of it, it's that it works perfectly since we are slowly going back to the wild wild west. I wouldn't be surprise if next prequel, we were some sort of Civil War traitor, trying to escape war, joining a band to live as an outlaw.

Isn't that also the mission Arthur gets captured by Colm? More reference to Arthur
Its a Bible verse
@@brucemiller4322 no it isn’t,Arthur wasn’t a thing in rdr1 or when rdr1 came out, it’s a bible verse
@@cjmodmanboom8518 I said John's grave. I thought something like that was written on John's grave in rdr1. I haven't played it in years so maybe I'm wrong. It was something similar to that anyway
John was such an amazing character. He did everything for his family and he didn't even flinch when his time came. He sacrificed himself so they could be free. Unfortunately, like a Quentin Tarantino movie, the cycle repeats itself.
Lumbago
"like a Quentin Tarantino movie" man come on lol
This series with one and 2 honestly brings emotions out in me that no other game has come close to
"The day John Marston stops shooting" i mean... Yeah he stops shooting alright
A nice foreshadow
@@Nofrnzclub definitely. Gotta love the writing in these games
Imagine Alternative universe where Arthur, Uncle, John, Jack against the army 💀
Johns death really reminds me of Michas, they both just stand up for like 10 seconds after getting shot tens of times & slowly collapse to the ground
Micah casually walks off then dies after like the third step he takes 😂
@@vadar0521 "you shot me pretty good" turn around and collapse meawhile you shot him 10 time in head
When adrenaline's flowing this isnt impossible.
That scene really was the good (John) the bad)Dutch) and the ugly(Micah)
@@riskrunner4532 Yeah, I've heard the news about the remaster being shelved. I'm hoping that it will be un-shelved in the future, after the release of GTA6 (and I hope it will be a remake, not a shit-show remaster like the GTA "definitive editions").
@@riskrunner4532 I wouldn’t say it went the milking route since they’re finally working on the new one
I agree with this. Maybe they could have a picture of Arthur, or maybe the main members of the game even, in John's house? A little detail that you'd have to pay close attention to see
John should never look back. Ross had found him, kidnap his family, force him to do his dirty work and double crossed him.
Actually they still would’ve found them because I got the impression they were going to use Micah the same way they use John to hunt his old gang they might have found John eventually if they used Micah

Can we just stop to appreciate the beauty in theses sacrifices, and notice the ugly cycle that continues. Arthur Morgan fought and died to give the marstons a fighting chance. John and uncle fought to make the dream of being a homesteader come true. Uncle fought and died in the hopes the marstons could make it out. John took a final stand trying to give his wife and son a chance at that life the Pinkerton's destroyed, knowing he couldn't win the fight. Abigail fought so Jack wouldn't become a gunslinger. Arthur died so John didn't have to be a gunslinger anymore, John still became a gun slinger. John died so Jack didn't have to be a gunslinger anymore, Jack still became a gunslinger. The sacrifices continues on, and the cycle continues. They all die for each other, until little Jack is the only one left in the Vanderlin gang. "You can't change your future and you can't outrun your past." Rest in peace, Arthur, Uncle, John, and Abigail. You all died heroes in my eyes. 💔😭💜 My question is, what happened to Sadie Adler and Charles? Did Sadie ever make it to south America? And did Charles ever leave with his people? 👀 Pls let us be Sadie in rdr3, or Jack looking for Sadie in South America. I'd even settler for a Mafia style 1920s Jack Marston play through. 😂. Give us more red dead games! 🇺🇸😂 Oh or let us be Hosea watching Arthur and John growing up 😇 there are so many storylines they can do!!! 😈🤣
RDR is not mafia. It's the wild west. Let us keep it this way.
Shouldn't we be Dutch and not Hosea for it to make sense?
@@Inte334 how would it make more sense as dutch? I mean either would do but Hosea had a family he left to see before the prequel, that's why I picked him, just thought his back story was a bit more interesting 🤔 maybe a choice between the two 🤷😂
I'm sure rockstar has put a fork in RDR
I never played this sequence under rain, it's insane
Correct me if im wrong but it could be a mod, the missions were in most cases fixed weather and the horse that jack rode had insane speed for such a lesser considered breed in the game, dont get me wrong the weather was a nice touch until ross lit a match in the blistering rain but i think as amazing as rdr1 was it still had primitive mission programming and not so much detail as the prequel
@@dieselpower8308 yes sure, It's probably a mod or something.
It’s cinematic
It’s more fitting

RIP John, Abigail, and Uncle they will be missed but Jack he isn't dead yet and he's going to avenge his family if it's the last godamn thing he's going to do before he dies ( I took a line from rdr2 when Arthur said to John he'll help him get to his family if it'll be last godamn thing he'll do) RIP Arthur as well.
The Marstons will never learn - they'll olways lokk back - but i get why, its truly a amazing story.
The last true legends of the wild west - Arthur and John
Arthur: Listen, when the time comes, you gotta run and don't look back. This is over. John: I will, I will.
"The day John Marston shopped shootin"
Some nice foreshadowing by Jack, too.
If they ever make an RDR 3, a cool Easter egg would be a book titled “The Day John Marston Stopped Shooting “ by Jack Marston somewhere in the game
Jack did write a book entitled "Red Dead Redemption" which can be seen sitting on a book shelf in GTA V.
"ain't this a beautiful spot?" - the strange man
I’ve never noticed how similar his stance is to Micah’s when they both die.
You shot me… you shot me pretty good… dies*
John didn’t say anything when he was dying
So Morgan was looking for justice
and Marston was looking for peace
"You're gonna keep going and don't look back". John does remember Arthur's advice
Never let anyone say a Marston died without a fight
9:40 „The Day John Marston Stopped Shoting”
Would have been a pretty good book, huh.
Probably a better game though.
0:01 are we just gonna ignore jacks twin temporarily teleporting into our realm?
this is such a realistic portrayal of death, its out of nowhere, unfair, frustrating. john doesn't lay on the ground and say his last words as he dies he simply just dies. honestly one of the saddest deaths in gaming history
it's crazy that Edgar Ross could light a match in that wind that was noticeably moving the trees
not to mention the fact that this scene almost perfectly mirrors the very last time abigail ever saw arthur :(
You know what something just hit me that never quite made sense, uncle, the one who got slandered all the way through the prequel lumbago or not the man who was so useless the whole time yet proved his undying loyalty until the end, was in fact the only member who was never buried, kinda sad considering Arthur john and uncle were the only ones who earned their redemption
I had to go back and look because i thought i might've been wrong , but i wasn't lol
Look at 13:20 and you can see the three headstones, they were definitely buried next to each other.
Don't worry, Jack buried Uncle. He's right next to Abigale.
Wtf he was buried
He was loyal because the marathons put a roof over his head and fed him. Uncle had no where else to go.

0:36 reference to John eaten by wolves in RDR2
Everyone in the gang: "Don't look back."
Still everyone: *Proceed to look back.*
That's the point of the entire series
It's human nature. They're not heros and Supermen. They're just regular guys that mess up
I thought the game ended when John was murdered
I was 16 when I played the game, so I cant really remember exactly how I felt
What I do remember is hanging my head and not believing after all that story to get back to the family, that asshole Ross still killed him
Lots of tragic stories I can think of, but the end of RDR1 holds a very special place in my heart
Jack Marston, the last surviving member of the Van der Linde gang
I wonder if Tilly, Pearson or the other members were found and executed
Adding the prequels technically not. Pearson,Sadie,Mary Beth,Tilley and charles
"The day John Marston stopped shooting" This line....im boutta start tearing up
If they really do remake this game then I think they should add some dialogue of John talking about Arthur. It just seems odd that he never mentions the man that saved his family.
I just saw today that rockstar put the remasters for RDR1 and GTA4 on the shelf to focus on GTA6 because of the GTA Trilogy failure. It kinda crushed my spirit to be quite honest.
@@RedsDeadBaby you’d think they would’ve realized even before they remastered the gta trilogy that people care WAAAAAAAAY more about gta4 and rdr1
Oh yeah and they didn’t put it on the shelf they put it in the fucking trash can
rdr2 has some scenes that explain why he isnt mentioned in the game, there are scenes that echo arthur and if they do remaster rdr 1 they might add an easter egg in the game like arthurs hat by a table in johns home for example , but dialogue will be the same, itll be a while till we get a remaster, maybe after the release of gta 6 whenever that is
It’s also been 12 years after his death, John likely moved on. But i do think he would mention Arthur at least once especially when talking to Dutch
My condolences
