I'd imagine drug and alcohol abuse is everywhere in the kpop community given how dark it can get at times with the pressure on image and freedoms, that might be a topic to explore but it would need to be approached so carefully.
Drug use is extremely illegal in Korea. They don’t take that lightly. If a kpop idol is seen or caught doing drugs, they can go to jail. The sentence for drug use is longer than for someone who commits R@pe. Look it up. A lot of Korean American RUclipsrs talk about this (Stephanie Soo for example). So no, if the entertainment company wants to avoid that kind of media attention, they will for sure enforce a strict no drug use policy.
Thanks for enlightening us and giving us gentle reminders that it's not always glorious being part of/closely relating to the industry. So many fans are blinded by their obsessions that they ignore the fact that celebrities are people as well and should respect the fact that they have their own private and personal life.
gina delivers though, she's really working hard and trying to give us what we're asking for. i think it's really inspiring how you're always just making the best of every opportunity and trying your hardest to make lemonade out of whatever quality lemons you're given. you can turn nothing into something really worth looking at and watching. i'm not very good at this at all.
This is really heartbreaking to hear that idols are unhappy when they've made it (even though as fans we can guess that this is not sunshine and roses). Are there idols who are happy where they are ? Please tell me that not everyone is miserable in this industry....
I think that sometimes we forget that being a "idol" is their jobs and how every job sometimes (even if you love what you're doing) can be really exhausted and stressful. But I also believe that some of they are really happy with their jobs, not just grateful, if you know what iam saying, but happy with their job and proud with their achievements. In the end of day we just can hope that they can feel some kind of happiness in their choices and be safe.
of course there are some who do love their fans and love what they do and they really wouldn't be happier in any other profession but i think that it still doesn't negate the fact that they are literally worked to the bone sometimes, collapsing during concerts, stalked by fans and paparazzi, etc so yeah i'm sure the majority know why they are in this industry and they feel fulfilled but i mean, can you imagine not being tired of it all sometimes?
of course they are. the amount of abuse they experience (men and women, young boys and young girls) is beyond words. and i'm not talking about emotional abuse only. y'all have the illusion that it's all sparkles and glam just because it is mostly a multimillionaire job.
Gina's a real one! 😭 In regards to video ideas though, I've actually been curious to see your go-to hairstyles. I noticed you have a lot of hair and tend to pull the front part back, and I think it's very cute! Looks very effortless but put together at the same time.
Legit I can’t believe someone through a brick at you?! Where did they get that like did they steal it from a house???!!! I’m so glad your manager protected you!
Not Gina but I suspect it was more likely to have been a paving stone rather than a brick. Wouldn’t have made any difference to the intended recipient, though. And as a trivia, I think the English legal system would treat the object as a “brickbat” anyway in an assault charge or something.
Ohhh you should make a travel agency for Celebrities!! Do you know how big that could get in not just in South Korea?! I think that would be a really good business venture for you if you want to do it lol
I always feel bad for famous celebrities because of so many being depressed and having a hard time behind the cameras. It makes total sense to me that they would envy you. You see I there in America how celebs spiral and have breakdowns all the time. It’s so sad.
idols in kpop are expected to cover up their hard times as well. that's why when idols like sulli or mina come out with their struggles or open up to the public, they are suddenly "scandalous". it's really sad.
That idea you had about the celebrity-only travel agency sounds really good! And it's so cool how you found a way to connect your future and your past! ❤
Gina, that travel agency idea would suit you best. You know the industry, you're so eloquent and intuitive, you sound so wise and would understand the celebrities needs as well as what is appropriate should they need help when stuck in other countries.
Gina! I feel like you will do great if you created/opened up your own agency!! You know the industry so well, have a lot of connections and seems like such a kind genuine person but also super strong!
Love your stories Gina! When I hear you speak, I just admire how intelligent, talented, skillful, and very kind you are to your loved ones. You've went through a lot & became a beautiful, independent woman that people can admire. You're truly an inspiration & amazing 🥺✊🏻 May you continue to attract happiness, love, abundance, & peace 🙌🏻🌠👸🏻💖
I’m curious on how Kpop stars are taught to conduct themselves in photo shoots and interviews. Cause ppl surely don’t just know how to model or public speak, how curated is what they say?
Jina you are so articulate and kind... You will definitely shine in your own unique way... Btw you are really beautiful, classy, intelligent and wise which is a deadly combination... Rarely people have it... Just hang in there
Those encounters with crazed fans were so scary, Gina. Getting bricks thrown at you, being pursued by (on foot and in vehicles), being screamed at just because you had the "audacity" to interact with their bias? Definitely not funny at all. ps: I think you would do well offering bespoke holiday planning services for VIPs, especially for more out-of-the-way destinations. Trying to book accommodation, and tailor an itinerary in a country that is wholly unfamiliar, and that doesn't speak their native language, would be daunting for most. A time-poor idol would surely appreciate having that taken off their plate?
I just realized how hard it is for idols to travel and the fact that they have to put in so much effort to plan their routes carefully and meticulously.
WOW, thank you so much for being this candid. I really can't imagine what it must be like to be in this world. I love kpop but I don't think I could ever be in kpop, involved in any way that is. I am sure that there are people, as you mentioned in another video I watched, who managed to have a more consistent career path but it seems to be more the exception than the norm. I am glad that you found meaning outside of this world, despite putting in so many years to train and I don't think any of that is going to waste because you have accumulated so much experience for your future. I have to say that sometimes I worry about the overly involved nature of fandoms with their idols (I still cannot believe you had a brick thrown at you, that is beyond my imagination) because the day will come when their favourite idols will no longer be in the spotlight or some will get married, etc...I see a lot of it with current big groups on Twitter and sometimes it genuinely concerns me. Regardless, your videos are so educational and you are very intelligent. :) Thank you for sharing!!!
Gina - This is a very interesting subject = No so funny encounters with Kpop stars - the brick incident is really scary stuff, does stuff like that happen often in the Kpop world? The incident with the window down hollering at you from the street is really funny, unless you are left with all the fans wondering "WHO'S THAT GIRL?" Thanks for coming up with interesting stuff all time XOXO
Love the last two anecdotes! It's very considerate of you to give your friends the option of privacy that isn't always the case. And I'm sure the VIP only business model will be a success if ever put into action!
When you talked about the managers causing car crashes for idols, I immediately thought of the members of Ladies’ Code that passed away! So terrible! 💔
skincare pls!! like does everyone just happen to have really good skin or do they put a lot of work into maintaining it?? also how do idols achieve their fair complexion? like is it make up or just their natural complexion?
The brick story is scary but also it feels like some of these idols are really reckless 🤣😩 and the fast driving story just makes me really sad. Rushing so fast that it risks your life for every event? That's wild. Ia with other commenters though, i think you being a travel agency would be awesome! How handy
Thanks so much again or sharing your insight - I enjoyed this video thoroughly. I think the whole travel agency idea sounds fantastic. I cannot imagine how many people in the industry would appreciate your services in order to have a stress free vacation experience.
Setting up that agency would be a great idea, i think. ☺️ It'll help stars to have the rest they deserve and travel as normal as they should be. ☺️ More videos like this Gina, your stories are so enjoyable. Stay safe always. 💜
Thank you for creating a video for english speakers this time ^^ we really appreciate it! It's great to hear experiences from someone who has been part of the industry for so long
I appreciate that you are doing this in English. I enjoy learning more about the industry and you have a unique perspective as someone with firsthand experience. It is helpful to see beyond the glitz and what we are "fed" by the agencies. thank you.
That travel agency really sounds nice!! To help idols to have trip without being seen and enjoy it without being too cautious. I really like your personality. Stay safe :)
Thank you so much for this video! it really just shows that idols are also human and live a life outside of the media. I feel like all obsessive idol fans really need to know this because what they are doing is just putting people in danger.
Already excited just by the video title! Video ideas~ How bout doing an interview with your kpop bff in the industry? Like in a casual & chill setting and just being yourself
This was a super interesting video! The fact you had trouble with sasaengs is so scary. And the brick thing too omg. That could have seriously harmed you. I definitely think you should set up a travel agency thing for Korean celebs! From the way you described it, you seem super good at it. You'd probably get a lot of clients lol.
Kpop fans are nuts 😂 in the western pop world most of these things that happened would be an excellent opportunity to troll everyone, but in the kpop fan world they take everything to the extreme and it gets scary af.
Hi Gina!! Video suggestions: 1.skincare treatments received by idols both before and after their debut with actual names of the the treatments. 2.How idols learn to take pictures
Thank you for the great video, Gina! I would love to see a deeper analysis of marketing techniques and tactics that are pushed by companies to establish parasocial relationships between the artist and the fan. How this blurring of boundaries negatively affects the artists and leads to unhealthy fan behavior. That would be really interesting!
I never thought there would be stories like this in real life, thank you so much for sharing. I would also like to mention that brick incident, that was so unexpected. Good to hear that nothing bad happened to you. Sending loves & hugs.
The one thing that you have over literally any other youtuber is that you have the actual experiences in the industry. you should lean into them and push them super hard. we want to know all the tea from a real insider.
Hey gina hope u r safe and healthy. I just want to suggest u to probably make your own website either as a music teacher or as a travel writing mentor . I just hope you to be the world's best mentor someday 🧡
you have such a kind soul and is very considerate of your friends, please just establish a tavelling agency. get that bag! you deserve it (also like a place where idols could hold dates at peace)
Man fans can be crazy chasing your cab a throwing bricks manager speed driving talk about rock star lifestyle thanks for the adventure stories glad you made it out of the industry i think you were meant for something bigger and your going to do it 💯
now i get the "not so funny" in the title when i watched half latter part.. I feel yah 😔 but just look at the brighter side Gina! 😉 Not that stressed out and blooming 👍
thanks for this video! it was so funny(?) and interesting🤗 also, i’m glad you didn’t get hurt by the brick. that incident sounds really scary and dangerous omg
The shouting out of the car story made me smile because I can think of a few personalities that totally would do that xD I can think of one person in particular that thrives on being recognized and getting the reactions and be the center of the attention so I can picture the feeling of being left with all that attention pointing at you - I would just want to sink through the floor and disappear because I'm so shy xD I'm so glad your friends have you as a friend though, you really have so much streetsmarts to know whats visible or out of view, whats ways to be sneaky etc and that's admirable!
I love your style so much! Can you do a video of your favorite hairstyles and maybe some tips you’ve learned from other stylists? Fashion, hair and makeup?
Hello Gina, You are my favourite youtuber. There are a lot of things one can learn from you and your experiences Please keep making videos Your videos inspired us a lot You are so smart and intelligent and cute at the same time ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Lots of love lovely Gina .
NGL, I would love to be a part of a travel agency. A part of my job now is to book flights and hotels for clients. So, if you ever need to build an international team, I’m here!
Interesting insights :) could you also do a video to let us know why comebacks take a long time(2-4 years), and what do artists do during the long break?
Yesss I wanna know too and the quality over quantity thing? Is it really worth it? Even if the kpop idol is really popular and talented do u think that it’s okay to held that idols back of producing as many albums as they can
damn someone who prepares a travel plan and for free? i need me a friend like gina too! 😄 no but srsly you sound like a really good friend, they are so lucky to have you. keep safe always gina!
I like your stories about your celebrity friends. No wonder they you keep their friendship because you respect them unlike one vlogger who used to be a trainee too and who doesn’t seem to have anything nice to say about anyone in KPop.
Just saw a video with you and coco from about 2 weeks ago. Now I'm curious about your relationship with your cousin Kim Bum and what you think about him protecting you from guys who expressed interest in you. It's so sweet of him. I'm watching his drama Law School and am loving it. I hope the tired look is just part of his character cos he certainly didn't look that tired in the Gumiho drama. I'm just a little concerned.
these are super interesting tidbits of information, mostly how you are able to shield ppl from the public eye when they travel. the not fun bits though, i'm sorry you have ppl chase you and yell at you, and i mean, the brick. wtf. that's insanity. and for your friends with the speeding rides, also terrifying. jesus.
the thing about couples meeting you for dates is so funny to me. it's like how the kids when i was in middle school would sneak out to dates when the parents won't allow it HAHAHAHA
You should totally setup that travel agency.
Kpop idols need privacy tooo..its a great idea
That's my takeaway after this video 😂 Love you Gina 💙
I think that would be incredibly valuable
I agree!
Some countries even have laws against paparazzis and taking pictures of people in the street ^^
That brick incident sounds terrifying. Glad you didn't get hurt!
That's literally illegal and that fan is crazy
I was so shocked to hear that, that is incredibly scary
Omg yes! That person needs to go to jail. Crazy!
Whoever did that is nuts! You were just doing your job.
You are the smartest trainee that got away. You talk so eloquently. I am such a fan. Can you recommend some good read self help books?
I'll definitely make a video on recommendable books soon :) thank you for asking!
nice to see a fellow itzy fan here 😁
True
You can read one of the book that jay shetty wrote it’s really good I highly recommend :)
I'd imagine drug and alcohol abuse is everywhere in the kpop community given how dark it can get at times with the pressure on image and freedoms, that might be a topic to explore but it would need to be approached so carefully.
Alcohol abuse is all over Korea I'm sure because they don't really have any negative connotation with alcohol. Drinking a lot is the norm
deug abuse isnt but alchol abuse is not because of stress simply because some like to drink thats it.
"He came right after a music show" THE AUDACITYYYYYYYYYY
Lmao I was like: “he can’t be serious”.
And they broke up too aishhh
Thanks for enlightening us and giving us gentle reminders that it's not always glorious being part of/closely relating to the industry. Kinda unrelated but your voice and accent are so soothing 😭

That brick one was crazy, imagine how their actual significant other is going to be treated, I see why idols hide them.
This is really heartbreaking to hear that idols are unhappy when they've made it (even though as fans we can guess that this is not sunshine and roses). Are there idols who are happy where they are ? Please tell me that not everyone is miserable in this industry....

“It’s ....a dance move.” [Every 17-year old K pop fan reloads]. That’s funny.
Gina's a real one! 😭 In regards to video ideas though, I've actually been curious to see your go-to hairstyles. I noticed you have a lot of hair and tend to pull the front part back, and I think it's very cute! Looks very effortless but put together at the same time.

And your lipstick. It’s really rare to see suck a cute nude lipstick in Kpop and it looks stunning on your lips :))

Threw a brick
Most sensible youtuber I have ever come across, love the way you articulate experience or idea in precise but with most of the meaning in it.
Ohhh you should make a travel agency for Celebrities!! Do you know how big that could get in not just in South Korea?! I think that would be a really good business venture for you if you want to do it lol

you're very sweet, thank you so much
4:31 that's insane. did you throw the brick back?
😂
Yet another great round of stories from your kpop past. You're a really good story teller :)
I’m curious on how Kpop stars are taught to conduct themselves in photo shoots and interviews. Cause ppl surely don’t just know how to model or public speak, how curated is what they say?
media training?
They are taught to conduct themselves the way they conduct themselves in the interviews we see
they take etiquette and modeling classes
Gina i think your kpop idol travel business idea is genius actually... only someone in your position would be able to do that
Jina you are so articulate and kind... You will definitely shine in your own unique way...
Btw you are really beautiful, classy, intelligent and wise which is a deadly combination... Rarely people have it... Just hang in there
Those encounters with crazed fans were so scary, Gina.

That speeding one is just not worth it, look at ladies code, who lost members, I’m sure smaller agencies idols suffer the most
Gina - This is a very interesting subject = No so funny encounters with Kpop stars - the brick incident is really scary stuff, does stuff like that happen often in the Kpop world? OH MY GOD K-pop fans can be out of control! Throwing A BRICK at you?! Wow, that's bad.
Are idols allowed to meet their non celebrity friends without asking permission with their agency/manager ?
Interesting insights :) could you also do a video to let us know why comebacks take a long time(2-4 years), and what do artists do during the long break?
Yesss I wanna know too and the quality over quantity thing? Is it really worth it? Even if the kpop idol is really popular and talented do u think that it’s okay to held that idols back of producing as many albums as they can
Great snippets of your experience and memories with idols and friends. Thanks for sharing.
damn someone who prepares a travel plan and for free? i need me a friend like gina too! 😄

Keep up the good work 언니
Sounds like being friends with idols = part-time unpaid assistant lol
That person who threw a brick isnt even a person🤦🏽♀️ some fans are so toxic🤦🏽♀️
title: not so funny
me after watching: not funny at all that's too much
I like your stories about your celebrity friends. No wonder they you keep their friendship because you respect them unlike one vlogger who used to be a trainee too and who doesn’t seem to have anything nice to say about anyone in KPop.
this is kinda weird but i like the way you talk (??) it’s very calming and relaxing
Oooh thank you 😊
That travel agency for celebs is a really good idea. I hope you get to put it up one day. 😊
You're so beautiful 🌷
The brick incident was really scary !!!!!
